Pros: it got done eventually.Cons: it took a few tries. Some work...worked. Other work was destroyed in a few moments of running overheated; some repaired, but not all. Made like 75% right. But some effort was at least made to make right and I appreciate that. All things considered this would not be my shop of choice at the moment, but they have room for improvement. Ive never brought my truck to Big 3 because they were the cheapest, but because they were the best, and you get what you pay for typically. I got it eventually, in 3 separate invoices. Had they just been really thorough the first time, my checkbook was wide open to really do whatever they suggested. After the third invoice, it was no longer willing to trust this shop to do anymore work. Rico is the reason for 3 stars instead of 2, as he at least made me feel like he cared...cant say that about anyone else that was involved in the eventual 75% repair of truck.
The professionalism and knowledge of the BIG 3 team exceeded my expectations. They knew exactly what the issue was and exactly how to repair it to get me back on the road plus a an oil change to top it all off. Techs are very knowledgeable and professional. Will be back soon Thanks again BIG 3 team!!!
Very professional, very smart technicians and staff, answered all questions no problem and very affordable for the quality of work! Second to none
Definitely recommend Big 3 for repairs. Very helpful and friendly, keep me inform with updates on my vehicle. Rico the front desk person was very helpful. Thank you guys.
HAD MY FORD F250 TOWED IN AT 7:45AM. GOT A CALL IT WAS READY AT 11:30AM. MAJOR FUEL LEAK REPAIRED WITH NEW PARTS. DONT GET MUCH FASTER THAN THAT. FINISHED BEFORE THE DEALER COULD EVEN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT A++++++
Pretty terrible experience. Honestly probably the second worst service experience I’ve ever had. After a long road trip my GMC Diesel truck was having problems starting up. I’m not a mechanic but typically I do the work on my vehicles. Most truck work is pretty straight forward for me, but this being my first real issue with a diesel I was advised by some mechanic friends to have a crew that deals exclusively with diesel look at it.Pretty simple, I thought, the engine turns but doesn’t fire up, I prime the fuel filter assembly and fuel leaks out. Must be a problem with that. I take it to the shop, everyone gets covid, ok cool I get it. Month 2 passes and now it’s getting ridiculous. I need my truck to get some work done, so they assure me I can drive it around without any issue. I get the truck back and it died after it’s first drive. I open the hood, everything is pulled apart, air filter lying on the side. I have to have it towed back.Long story short after this, they get me the truck back, it drives for a few days on short trips. Does again. I pop the hood, the fuel filter assembly (that was leaking) was never changed out. After taking it back, I’m charged another $500+ dollars to fix the problem I originally took it in for three months earlier. After uber trips to and from the shop, toeing my truck there twice, and the labor and parts I spent well over $2000 on a job that probably would have cost me a $150 dollars and a few hours of my time to do myself. This isn’t even factoring that I didn’t have my truck I need for my business for 1/4 of a year.I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because the front desk guy Rico was pretty cool. I wasn’t going to write this review if I got even a hint of them trying to make this better. Not once did anyone say, hey we’re sorry, we’ll make this better. Hey this is our fault, we’re waving the cost of labor on this. Let us cover your Uber trips. Nothing, just “here’s your bill”.Avoid this place, they don’t respect you, or your time.Edit and response:No, I never acknowledged it was a new issue. I can scan both receipts and show it was the same issue I brought the truck in for.Second, I’d never expect anyone to work for free, it would silly to wave the cost of labor on the entire fix, I was referring specifically to me taking the truck back because it died again after only having it a few days. What I do expect from businesses is to make issues like this right. Not one call to apologize, not a single attempt to make it right. I wouldn’t say my standards are particularly rigid. I rarely leave bad reviews. And I think saying something snarky, like, “sorry you expect for us to work for free”, sort of proves my point.
These guys are super professional and always deliever top notch work. I have dealt with Austin many times and he knows what he is talking about. they did an amazing job on my 2006 king ranch dually and that thing rides like a champ now. Big 3 has a forever client here with me . Their customer service speaks volumes and that is important to me . If you ate looking for good and honest diesel work this is the place to go to.
I dropped off my 2001 Ford Excursion for a no start diagnosis, resulted being my fuel pump so I picked it up a week later to find a huge deep scratch from my door to fender, I spoke with the owner Sandra I believe her name was and she denied it back and forth, I showed a picture of how my vehicle looked prior to bringing it in and they said that could of happened on the way to shop but again I have a picture and they don’t! According to them they don’t inspect the vehicles when they come in so there goes that ! Now I am filling a claim on my insurance to hunt theirs down ! DO NOT USE THEM!! Very low life actions !!
Listen, Im so happy for what they did, and yes we had some issues, but they were there for me! They fixed, every issue and they know, my baby is the best ever! They, even made sure, that my vehicle was in and out when needed‼Austin, and Anthony are the best‼
The crew at Big 3 have been very helpful and courteous. We have taken our company truck to Big 3 for all of our repairs and maintenance. Recently we had an issue with the truck, called and got the truck in asap. Austin was able to fix the issue in record time and got me back to work with minutes to spare before the start of my shift! Thanks guys and ladies at Big 3!
Had an alignment done, better than it has ever been .they have a big enough rack to to align any truck
Great guys Austin and Anthony are top notch theres not enough stars to rate these guys.
At the end of the day Austin made sure I was taken care of and really showed he cared.
These guys are thorough, honest, and all around good people. They put together a detailed list of everything I needed. When I told them I can’t afford it all they didn’t hesitate to make a list labeled “this will keep your truck from dying” when I went to pick up my truck it was, to my surprise, cleaner than the day I bought it. Inside and out. These guys are professional, detailed, and very knowledgeable. I’d recommend Big 3 to anyone and everyone. Gas or diesel. I’m Very happy with their service.
A most excellent establishment
The guys there were awesome. From the moment I got there it wasn’t the typical shop experience. They were very thorough explaining what needed to be done and and at no point did i feel like I was being taken advantage of. Highly recommend them if you want great work and great service!!!
Fantastic, customer focused service. Attention to details, attentive to customer concerns. Fully open to explaining every aspect of issues, repairs, and follow up. Couldnt be more pleased with how I was treated, the dedication to my truck. The repairs was exactly as they explained. The bullet proof service and repairs improved the gas mileage, engine performance and handling.
These guys did a great job servicing my Hummer H1. They had great communication through the whole process and were able to track down some very hard to find parts for my old truck. Definitely recommend them. And I will be using them again in the future.
One of the few places in Tampa that works on inboards! Did great work on my 77 Ski Nautique, ridiculously fast turn around time! Fair prices as well with cash discount!
Please be up front with cost factors. If you use a credit card there is a 3% charge which can be high on a large repair cost .When asked what the labor cost is do not answer it is based on Michele book value. That means nothing to me. A good diesel mechanic will charge $149.00 per hour. Be up front it is what it is. If you are that good you get what you pay for.I dropped $5,000.00 with Big 3 Diesel on my 2002 Ford F250 7.3 that needed some TLC. The mechanic found problems other mechanics did not diagnoses which in the long run save my engine. With the One year or15,000 mile warranty I feel it was worth it.It is very hard to find a good diesel mechanic. I contacted a couple commercial diesel mechanics and they recommended Big 3 Diesel.Overall I will recommend Big 3 Diesel to others. I will try them one more time on other repairs as I restore my truck. The next time will make or break them.
First of all I would like to thanks Dave for being extremely helpful and all the guys at the shop. If it wasn’t Dave it was always Anthony helping me out. You guys did an amazing job. Thank you guys for not letting me down on fixing my truck to the point where I thought I was gonna have to sell it from how messed up it was from previous mechanics messing it up. Yes it did cost a bit, but the quality work and the end results were damn worth it! Thank you for being genuine and transparent throughout the whole process. Definitely will recommend friends and family. 5/5 👍🏼And no I was not paid haha.
I was looking for parts for my 150 mercury board motor and these guys came through in a pinch if you’re ever looking for any type of marine work or diesel work give them a call
Awesome job with the oil change I had done. Very reasonably priced and kind people. Kody was very quick and I came out with new oil and a newly washed car. Thank you!
Very good guys
I have a 2005 Ford 6.0 powerstroke diesel. As I have read in many blogs, these things are notoriously difficult to diagnose and fix. Mine would drive fine then just lose power and die. First trip to Big 3 - they dropped the tank, replaced dry-rotted fixtures and blew out the fuel lines. Seemed smoother on the drive home, but died on me the next day about 15 miles into an easy drive. Had it towed back to Big 3.The truck started and drove fine for them the next day!?!?! They did not give up on it. They connected their sensors and drove it for quite some time until it died on them and they were able to make a diagnosis.Ultimately it turned out to be a fuel injector that was sticking open intermittently. Now it starts with the turn of a key and runs really smooth. Its a great engine when its running - but with all of the blogs I have read seems to be plagued with problems that are difficult to diagnose. Big 3 took the time to figure mine out and they were able to fix it - now I have to decide whether to sell it at a loss while its running great or cross my fingers and keep it.**4 months later engine still starting and running strong. I keep bottles of power service and lucas in the back and add to every tank. I was told - I think from someone at Big 3 - that a lot of the problems come from low lubricicity in the ultra low sulfur fuel. I will keep using it - not taking any chances.
Rico got my truck in and out like he said and all seem to be repaired. Im from out of town Thank you Rico and the Mechanic.
I was in a bad situation with Gas in my diesel, 600 miles from home with no tools at 4:30 in the afternoon. Although they were about to close James didn’t hesitate in sending a tow, so he could get me back on the road that evening. While this might not mean much to others, everyone else in the area were not willing to help so i really appreciate the guys at Big 3.These guys understand that being a good person is completely free!!
Very professional. Very friendly and helpful people. Would highly recommend.
I brought my F550 7.3L diesel service truck to Big 3 Diesel for the best repair experience of my life. Im really glad I found Big 3 Diesel after another shop tried to hose me. Steve and his crew of awesome technicians quickly, skillfully, and honestly diagnosed the issues I was having, and then repaired them effectively and efficiently. They actually fixed the specific complaint instead of just arbitrarily changing a multitude of parts, at my expense, like the dealership had suggested. My truck runs awesome again! The service and value offered at Big 3 Diesel is unbeatable. Technicians with integrity. Well done, guys!
So I was purchasing a used mercedes E350 diesel, and i wanted to get a pre purchase inspection, once I arrived I met with the owner Anthony, he was friendly and knowledgeable. They checked the car over, and made me feel confident in my purchase, I will definitely be back! I even scheduled some maintenance on my wifes pathfinder. Nice waiting area and good location. I think I found my new service shop!
Lost my tune on my 2015 F350 6.7 to where I had to towed it to Big 3 Diesel Repair . The best service and had it back running the next day . Kept me informed on very step. I highly recommend them !
I havent bought a single thing or given them one red cent for service. So this speaks volumes about BIG3. I sent an email request to get some information on how to get a tune of my 05 Silversdo 2500hd Duramax lly without the original tuner. They called me back in less than 24 hours. The person on the the other end of the phone spent over an hour going over all the possible options and recommendations. They gave me up front pricing. Everything he offered was not within my budget at the time. I would need time to save. They were extremely polite, courteous, and patient. They answered every question I had. Once I have the cash. I will be using them. Based on just a phone conversation. This a place that prides itself on customer service. I would be foolish to go anywhere else.
These guys have always done right by me. I’ve been coming to them for almost 3 years now. Most recently I had a bit of an emergency and they squeezed me in a couple hours after calling in the afternoon and had me back in my truck the very next morning. They aren’t the cheapest place, but their quality of work and the reliability of their work is worth every penny. These guys will be the only ones to work on my trucks.
Fantastic job. Had Ford F350 Platinum used 2017 truck inspected that I was anticipating purchasing from a local Tampa Ford Dealer. The Car Fax mentioned some front end damage, dealer said no big deal everything is in great shape. I was planning on purchase of this truck. Big 3 Diesel mechanic did outstanding job pointed out six serious defects in the truck including the fact it had been in a front end accident and had poor maintenance being performed, i.e. no oil changes, and very rough off road usage. Possible future problem with the steering. I canceled the purchase based on these inspection findings. This inspection saved me many thousands of dollars in future repair costs. Worth every dollar. Thank you Big 3 Diesel.
Quick, courteous, great work and fair prices. I was new to the area and they took care of my diesel truck and went above and beyond. I would highly recommend and will be a return customer in the future.
Steve and the guys over at Big 3 Diesel are awesome and offer excellent service. Took my Excursion to them twice this year and I couldnt ask for better service. Thank you guys! Keep doing what your doing.
They are very helpful, I bring my friend truck and they fix the issue and they give us a really good price.
This shop is great! They addressed my concerns ASAP, and the tech did a great job explaining the problems. Fast, friendly, and price comparable to other places.
Took a time or two to get it dialed in, but once we did there wasn’t any regret in getting it done. Head gasket, studs, fuel leak, mounts, etc... Professional, knowledgeable and straight to the point. Do yourself a favor and just skip the dealership. That is unless you like your diesel to be a puss.
Great customer service and super friendly. Would highly recommend them to friends and family!
Outstanding customer service. My issue on my ford F250-6.0 was complex. Big 3 diesel repair stayed the course. Their technicians perseverance in resolving my trucks problem was unmatched. I highly recommend this company, integrity, honesty and communication all in one!100% completely satisfied customer,Capt. Oliver ORiordan
Very happy with the work big 3 diesel did for me.... truck has never ran better a little pricey but hey you get what you pay for.... good job guys
Brought my F-450 down and met Anthony. He helped me do a manual regen on the truck. I recommend everyone to use this shop for their diesel problem. They were very professional the shop is clean they are here to help everyone.
Weve sent several customers to see Steve and the guys here. They arent miracle workers but they can fix most issues. If you go here expecting your truck to mine its own gold when you leave youll be disappointed but if you want the truck to run theyll make it happen. Good people here for sure.
Great Help very professional and super competitive on pricing. Work is always top notch and done in a timely manner.
We took our 2006 f250 truck in for repair. .Diesels are inherently expensive so lets get hat out of the way to start. But we got a whole lot of work for a decent price. Yes the price tag was big, but we had a whole lot of troubles. We had 3 of the 6 known issues that happen with those model fords go bad. While inside they went through thoroughly and suggested every single repair that we could do while inside, we chose to do them all while they had it apart. The truck runs far better than it ever did. The time frame was about a week, but it was a whole lot of work that had to be done. If we have any more issues I know where Im going.
Great Shop for Diesel Repair!Thank You from The Real Wheels
Attention to detail these guys are the best. Everything was fixed properly and done in a fair timeframe. Fair and honest prices
Great business and awesome owners!!
Best service available. Wish they were open on the weekends, but then they wouldnt get any time off. Take your DIESEL here.
Ive brought my 04.5 lly duramax in here a few times for not so easy repairs. These guys know exactly what theyre talking about. They get the work done and do it the right way with no corners cut. Customer service is always great as well. Steve is very easy to talk to and will explain everything to you with zero problem and without ever sounding annoyed. If you want your truck fixed the right way then come to Big3, I wont take my truck anywhere else for diesel work.
If you need honest help go hereI was broke dowm from out of town. GotgoTheapeople
I heard about this place through a review under another shop. Coming here was the best thing my husband and I could have done. We traveled from Miami to Tampa to purchase a F350 but we wanted to get a diagnostics done on it first. They were able to check the truck out the same day while completing the task in an efficient and timely matter. In addition they offer more reasonable prices. The test revealed a few things needed to be done ( expected of an older vehicle) but all in all it proved to be a good strong truck. I appreciate their honesty and courtesy, Steve helped us through the entire process. After purchasing the truck we brought it back to them to fix anything the test said needed to be done. Needless to say we couldnt be happier.-LaJayron and Ashley Negrin
Just poor poor followup and thru.Tried to strongarm Rob me..What an awful experience for a place of business..Glad it didnt get to point of servicing my truck
Thank you Big 3 Diesel for finding & fixing the problem with my truck, and getting me back on the road.Great job. It was worth the drive to find a reliable diesel mechanic.
My truck needed the battery cable replaced and since its only available from the dealer to fit my battery it was a PITA to replace. They had my truck done before the time promised and got me on my way. I will be using them again in the future!
Joe and his crew has awesome service and quality went behind what needed to be done. They fixed all my issues that I came in for. Will definitely recommend them to all friends and family and be back for more.
Big 3 installed the fass lift pump on my GMC. They did a great job on the install. Highly Recommend them. Thanks
Steve has been working with me to keep my 6.0 on the road for a long time. Steve is honest and super knowledgeable. I cant vouch for anyone else there but if you talk to Steve and tell him your concerns hell make sure that things are done right. They find the root of the problem and fix it so its done. They are not wishy washy crooks like other Powerstroke shops. Take your diesel here, youll be happy.
The guys at big 3 are great they are very professional and i will always recommend them and will never use anyone else for my repairs and performance needseveryone should at the very least try them you won’t be disappointed
Ive been going to them for ten years. Honest reliable and reasonably priced.
Stand-up shop. They offer sound advice, and great customer service. Listen to this shop, they will take care of your truck!
Very friendly, reasonably priced. Go above and beyond in checking your vehicle.
Initially went for an oil and coolant leak was advised we need full bullet proof. Almost $10k spent. Truck broke down multiple times after repair, leaving us stranded. Never honored the warranty. After all this the oil leak turned out to be the dipstick was leaking at the bottom and a new water pump was needed.
Friendly, Fast, Professional, and they have a nice waiting room with WIFI and Netflix on the TV.
Took my Ford Excursion diesel to get the four wheels at the tires fixed and an oil leak. Kept the vehicle for two days. Came back after 2 days and asked if they had to take the tire off to fix my four-wheel. Thats when they realized they forgot to do the four wheel. Was going to charge me the complete price and didnt realize they didnt even do the four-wheel.
Great service and diagnostic team, 6.0 joe was a big help in relaying the issues they found and I was greatly satisfied even the price wasn’t much to complain about.
I only put a star cuz I had to If you want quality don’t go here bunch of young idiots running around an half the “mechanics” don’t even have certificates 10 thumbs down 👎 btw the don’t own up to there warranty either so that’s a scam to they will tell you that you need something more so they can charge you outrageous instead of owning the warranty for there “premier work”
Great price! Excellent Service! This place rocks!!!!
I picked up a trailer that I bought from the company didn’t excellent job The owner helped me load it and do an excellent job in servicing it
Knowledgeable shop. Fair pricing. Good service.
I wasnt going to leave my negative review but after receiving about half a dozen spams encouraging me to, here it is.I went in for an oil leak, a new rear window and a tire rotation. Also to fix brake lights that wouldnt work. I ended up with a $3000+ tab and they failed to fix anything on the punch list correctly.First the rear window. They spent hours on it, then when they figured out they didnt know how to put one in, they duct taped the old one in place and suggested I go elsewhere for that. They gave me the window they ordered to put it in myself or have someone else do it. I was billed for the hours. Now the brake lights. They spent hours trying to fix this and billed me as well at around $100/hr. They changed rear bulbs, checked the wiring, etc. Couldn’t figure it out but they billed me hundreds of dollars to fail. Later, when I had some free time the week after I got my truck back, I spent 15 minutes on the internet finding out where my fuses were for the brake lights, located them, went to NAPA for a fuse and fixed the brake lights by replacing the fuse. Hours and hundreds of dollars later they couldn’t even do what I did in 15 minutes!Oil Leak:. This is the big one. I had a leak up high in the back of the engine just below where the windshield wipers are. They misdiagnosed it as a rear main seal leak. They dropped the transmission and separated it from the engine only to find the seal was fine. This cost way over a grand. For their mistake. They found the clutch was a little worn out while in there so they replaced it with my blessing. When they got it all back together, it stopped shifting correctly. Ever since my visit to Big 3 Diesel, my transmission is messed up. Now, instead of shifting normally as it always had, the synchros are all messed up. It wont go into gear for like 8-9 seconds when cold. If you press a little harder to get it in when say... A huge line of traffic is angry you arent moving, it grinds horribly. This behavior occurs only when cold and goes away after about a half hour of driving. Once the transmission warms up. They were stumped when I brought it back to be checked out and wanted to charge me to fix the problem THEY CREATED! Seriously. These guys are predators preying on anyone with something wrong with their truck. Charged like $3000 for a small oil leak AND they broke my transmission.Tire rotation. Got the truck back after all that and they didnt even do the tire rotation. Most simple thing on the punch list. I had to sit and wait for them to hurry to do it last minute after I had already paid my 3 grand to have my transmission ruined.Topping it all off, take a look at the pictures Im including here. This is what the front seat of my truck looked like once they got done with it. DESTROYED with grease. Honestly, after writing this, Im wondering if the right thing to do is take them to small claims court.NOTE: Picture of ruined front seat with grease all over it wont post here. Message me directly if youd like visual proof.EDIT:. I finally found out what they did to my 6 speed manual transmission. They had charged me to put in an expensive synchromesh lubricant. When the lubricant was changed this weekend, a dark brown, thick maple syrup type lubricant came out. Dishonest thieves put some random lubricant in my transmission instead of a VERY specific GL-4 fluid needed to ensure the health and functioning of the synchros. I put in 6 quarts of Redline MTL and got the transmission shifting again once the proper lubricant loosened the garbage they put in. The real stuff is very thin, low viscosity and They charged me for the real stuff and put garbage in. Worse, they pretended they had no idea why my transmission was screwed up when I left. Liars. ALSO... Owner claims they couldnt get a hold of me. They email me constantly. They have all my info. Just more lies. Steer clear. Very dishonest.
I don’t recommend going here. They don’t know what they’re talking about and have burnt out mechanics. I recently took my truck here to fix the diesel in my crankcase problem. I told them I thought it was the cp3 pump causing the issue and wanted them to check that first. They told me they found the issue and it WAS NOT THE CP3. 4 grand later I get my truck back and it’s still leaking and has the same problem. I bring it back there to see what’s going on seeing as they have a warranty. Come to find out it is the cp3 pump all along and they want $1100 more to fix it 🤔
The only place in the South East US to bring your Diesel. Joe and Steves knowledge is second to none.
Fast service, good mechanic and fair rates
My wife explain it all thanks steve and also 6.0 josh
Needed a diesel mechanic to inspect a bus in Tampa (we are from out of town) and Joe met us on a Saturday to do it. Thorough, helpful and on time.
Great service make sure to see Steve at the front.
I have left several messages with Big Three Diesel with no return phone calls or replies to my email. I guess theyre are to busy to even let me know theyre are to busy.
Great work Reasonable price!
Way over priced for what was done !
Great service fast excellent mechanics
After 2 months of keeping our truck and $8500 later we get our truck back and had it 2 days and it broke down again. Dont take your truck here unless you want to waste a lot of money. Hiring a lawyer over this mess.
Fast and reliable.
Excellent service in a timely matter
Highly recommend
Quick, courteous and quality.
