Great selection, veteran owned and operated. Most staff are Technical dive instructors, so they are a lot more experienced and knowledgeable then your traditional SCUBA instructors. Would highly recommend for all level of divers from just getting started to diving for decades. They also service all equipment in house.
Great dive shop and great team! The instructors are top notch all around! I couldn’t think of a better shop to go through for open water cert. The staff is extremely experienced and takes all the time needed to explain everything. Very friendly atmosphere almost like walking in and immediately being “welcomed in the family”. Highly recommend to all divers (and soon be divers). Cant wait until I return to Tampa and link up for another dive with these guys!
Outstanding Dive Shop! Im really glad I found this place. I was looking for a dive shop for Advanced Nitrox, Deco Procedures and Helitrox. I found that most shops wont run these unless they have a certain number of students asking (and I get that), I was being told it would be a few months at least. After searching google I headed over to Adventure Outfitters and was signed up within 2 days. Alex was willing to teach the classes even if I was the only student (I ended up getting a buddy to sign up with me). The class was amazing. Alex is an awesome instructor and went beyond the standard curriculum to further challenge us and also teach us skills related to how we planned to use the training (spearfishing). Id recommend this shop to anyone.
Adventure Outfitters is an awesome dive shop. Very friendly atmosphere that seems family oriented. New divers don’t feel intimidated or overwhelmed.Jenny and Kevin have been a huge help since I’ve gotten into scuba diving. Kevin was an outstanding instructor for my SDI Open Water scuba class. He took the time to explain all the necessary material and gave helpful hints along the way.Jenny took the time to help me select equipment. She ensured the gear fit my needs and fit my body. She didn’t try to sell me unnecessary equipment to make a quick buck.Definitely recommend this place for all scuba gear and training needs!
Only dive shop I trust in FL. Love the staff. Anna, Jenny, and Alex are amazing. Dont know what Im going to do when I move.
Amezing and friendly people. You will find what you need for a fun outdoor in water adventure..
I had so much fun talking with everyone and they were able to help me with everything I needed. Repairs on 2 different brand BCDs, O2 cleaning for my tanks, nitrox fills and shopping for a new BCD. Looking forward to guest speakers, dive club meetings, Gasparilla bead cleanup, Dive against debris dives and hopefully some lionfish hunts... Cant wait!
You wont find a better place to get your certifications, classes and gear. I love this people, besides of been a great team of professionals, theyre all family and will treat you as one of their own. Jenny and Alex (owners) make an exceptional team. I will stick with them until the end of my days as a diver. I am very happy, grateful and humble to have you guys in my Adventure.
Brand new to Florida, and, in relation to Floridians, even with 15+ years of diving, still on newer side to diving. Had never owned my own gear before today. Alex was amazing. He listened and asked questions in order to build my gear. I ended up spending a few hours in the shop, mostly just listening to him and the other customers that came in….to learn and soak up as much info as possible.I researched them prior to going and saw the great reviews. This will absolutely be my go to shop. Looking forward to being an avid diver and learning! What Alex helped me setupDive Rite Voyager XT BCD w/ stainless backplateAtomic Z3 primaryAtomic SS1 secondaryAqua Lung i550C computerFlorida is a much better state to me as of now!
Went here a few times for servicing my equipment and they did a good job. Would recommend.
Wonderful staff and a great selection. We had a fantastic experience here by our 14 year old son certified. Im so happy with everything they did and are so happy we went through them.
Great experience from the first phone call to the shop. Everyone that works there takes as much time as needed to help. Jenny is an excellent instructor and really helped build my confidence. I highly recommend Adventure Outfitters!
Great dive shop! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. The dive shop is fully stocked with very competitive prices. I am not local. Set up my dive trip with a couple of phone calls and emails. They are very quick to respond to all of my questions. Instruction was spot on. Took two cert classes in a week. Couldnt have had a better experience. This will be my dive shop from now on when visiting Tampa. Cant thank Anna and her team enough!
Fast service and friendly staff
Awesome staff!!! My DAN safety sausage was missing a part and they fixed it super quick! Very friendly as well.
Adventure Outfitters is customer service oriented with a large variety of dive gear in stock. They know the gear and will take time to help you pick out the gear you need. No pushy salesman nor do they try to sell you what you don’t need. Prices were competitive...even compared to online. They offer a number of courses, several of which I have personally taken. The instruction was fantastic and I felt comfortable! This is the shop you want to use in Tampa.
When I came to South Tampa, There were multiple dive shops within the area that I could choose from. After going into each and every one of them, adventure outfitters had the best vibe. I decided to continue my diver education with adventure outfitters and throughout the years, I have had great experiences with every single one of adventure outfitters staff and instructors. Its almost like being part of their family. I never thought that I would get into tech diving, but if you hang around this place long enough, your desire to continue on with more advanced training becomes easier. Highly recommend for training and servicing.
I want to thank you for making my spring break trip wonderful! A big thank you to Anna for making me feel safe in the water and giving me the confidence I needed! I would also like to say thank you for letting me help with the clean up dive. What you do to keep Tampa bay clean is awesome!
I enrolled my 8 year-old in their summer PADI SEAL Team class and he had a blast. It was a great introduction to SCUBA for him. They had some awesome activities lined up, took great care of the kids, and helped address my sisters anxiety about her sons safety. They also shared some really priceless photos and videos with all of us once it was over. I cant recommend this experience highly enough for anyone who has a child that loves the water and might be a good candidate for SCUBA. Thanks, Adventure Outfitters!
I love Adventure Outfitters!I can’t brag enough on Anna and Jenny with their amazing customer service. Being SCUBA Open Water has been a lifelong dream, but due to life and other distractions I was not able to start this until I was 52 years old. One big challenge I have is now have panic attacks, that are so overwhelming. I tried with another dive shop, but I was not able to get over my fears to do the final two dives. Anna was so patient and understanding about how I feel and gave me techniques to overcome my fears. Thanks to Anna, I was able to overcome fears and get my Open Water SCUBA. BIG CELEBRATION. After being certified Adventure Outfitter continues to reach out to me and help me with my dives and questions.I highly recommend Adventure Outfitters, Anna and Jenny –along with whole team. If they can help me with all my fears/issues they can help anyone!
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, but was very slow to respond to questions after I had left the area on my trip to Tampa, and ultimately never received an answer. Pricing seemed a little high to me, but I did not shop around due to my short timeline. Would still be happy to stop by for possible business again in the future.
Great shop, great people working there. Really big selection and Good prices. I have come to them in need of parts and they always find a way to help. Highly recommend.
The best dive shop I could have EVER asked for!! These PADI instructors are truly the best, they are extremely patient and made this a great experience (even when I wanted to give up and quit). I would have never gotten through this without everyone at adventure outfitters!! Now that I am certified, I can’t wait to go on dive trip!
Personalized dive shopping experience with friendly and knowledgeable dive experts that will guide you to what you need without up selling to things you don’t need. After taking classes at Adventure Outfitters I can say that they have the best instructors I have ever encountered in my 20+ years of diving.
Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Very friendly and good prices too.
We love these guys! They just really want you to enjoy your diving, and grow your knowledge. Great technical advice, a real range of kit, services and dive trips, lots of training, and it kinda feels like a dive club for family and friends. Definitely more than a dive shop! 😎
Great dive shop there open till 7:00PM a plus for working folks. They carry a wide range of dive equipment and teach a lot of advanced courses that are hard to find elsewhere. They are all certified cave divers and love to dive. I took a Tec 40 class with them had a great time. I have participated in their 3 springs dive trip, it was great. Their dive master gave us a great time. The shop is family owned and ran. The staff goes above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone looking to learn scuba diving or continuing their scuba training. I am planning on doing my cavern training with them soon.
Derrick my instructor was not only easy going and a cool guy but a great instructor! He even let me schedule a a dive in his Paradise springs with less than twelve hours before the dive I highly recommend this place!
Extremely friendly staff, definitely a good shop to stop in!
Alex and Anna are awesome! The owners are clearly passionate about diving and dive gear...they carry several brands, and sell what is best from each brand.
Amazing family owned business! Words cant adequately describe how phenomenal of an experience it has been. Highly recommend....and for those with kids like me- they are great with kids too!
So lucky to have found such an amazing shop! Its not just a dive shop! since finding this place about a month ago we have expanded not only our equipment, and our certifications, but also I truly feel like we have found people we can call friends! I have no doubt in my mind Anna and Alex do this with passion and love in their hearts. Its not a job to them its the air they breathe lol no pun intended
The store owner and her son were SO NICE and helpful. They spent an hour helping us fit our two sons with fins and booties. Amazing store and people... AND they have a cool 3 legged dog ;)
Love this family and their shop!Called Anna a few days before Christmas about needing open water certification FAST before a spur of the moment trip to Belize. Knowing we want to dive while there and me needing to get started, she got me set up with the eLearning component immediately and the pool and OW dives three concurrent days (finished yesterday!). In the mean time, we stopped in the shop a few different days and she and Alex talked through different gear with my husband and I, helping us pick out our first set of gear and what we would want specifically for our trip.I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience in the world of scuba!
A++++++ Great family operated shop tons of experience and know how. SCUBA lessons for a great price very small classes is a huge PLUS tons of great gear for sale. I am currently enrolled in Advanced Open Water with Anna Blevins for this next month have taken 3 other classes with her as well hope you enjoy as much as i have been.
Went on a dive with them last week and they were exceptionally professional, helpful and friendly! It was a spectacular experience! Will definitely dive with them again!
I completed my Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certification with them in 2014. The owner and her son are great. They really took their time and did a great job, preparing the class the class before getting into the water. We even did a rehearsal of our dives. Very pleased.
The man working here laughed at my question about diving equipment. He seemed annoyed that I was there and really gave off the entitled, unfriendly I grew up rich and dont relate to others very well vibe. It was very weird. The prices reflect his attitude.
Was lucky to have been certified by the Blevins family. Great group of people who genuinely want you to love scuba too. Highly recommend them for all your scuba needs!
Good local knowledge. Visited as an out of town diver to rent tanks. Staff was great and gave me a lot of general info about what to expect in the local waters. Its easy to spot a good dive shop and this is one of them.
They are the best!
My experience with Adventure Outfitters is outstanding, both Anna and Alex were very patient with me. I am new diver who doesnt get to dive much, they take EXCELLENT care of their Dive family. I am stuck on not diving with any other Group. Hope to get more dives in with my new Family.I have been with Adventure Outfitters for a full year Plus... I trust no one else with my well-being and learning other than the Blevins Family. I had such a great time learning from them I will go to no one else.
Even though I live across the bay and have to pass four or five other dive shops to get there, Adventure Outfitters is my favorite dive center.1. They do not succumb to the common occupational hazard among dive instructors of talking up the extreme aspects of diving and generally taking an uber-macho approach to the sport. Instead, AO instructors make diving accessible to everyone with their practical, sensible, and prudent teaching style.2. They do not skip over any of the textbook sections when teaching classes. Some dive centers rush through the classroom portion and just teach whats on the test. AO instructors go over every section and ensure learning has happened before moving on.3. They conduct their dives--both outings and classes--with thorough preparation and briefings. No matter how routine the dive, they bring all their emergency and backup equipment, they discuss contingencies, they take the time for equipment, buoyancy, and bubble checks. They simply do not cut corners.4. They are great people. The owners are a wonderful family, and they have cool dogs.
This is where you go as a returning customer. We spent 2 hours today with Alex and Jenny today, learned so much and got hooked up with the gear we need. Theres no pressure, and they take the time to tailor your gear to what your doing. Skip Bill Jacksons, sunshine scuba and all the rest, beginner or advanced, you will appreciate this store. Much thanks again to you, see you at the fish fry sale Saturday.
I want to start this review by saying that it has taken me about a month to post this because it gives me anxiety to think about leaving a negative review. I never do, as I have worked in the service industry for 12 years and I know that things happen. HOWEVER, I care more about the people that could have the same experience I had than I do about the people that run this dishonest shop.I came to Adventure Outfitters to get my regulator plastic covers replaced, my BCD inspected, and my cylinder filled/inspected. Long story short, they never contacted me. After 3 weeks, I called them and received a text back saying they would send me information. They didn’t. I called back a week later and they said it was ready for pick up. I was never given an estimate in any of our conversations on the phone or via text, including the first one. I had my husband pick up the gear that day and when he arrived, they told him it would be $250. Unfortunately, he paid it not knowing the details of what I had ordered. They didn’t give him the cylinder back and he had to come back for it.When I asked why my cylinder and cover replacement cost so much ($60 cylinder, $30 service, $30 parts (BCD was unusable))they told me they did a bunch of things for “free” for me to justify the price. They told me my husband was lying about the cost and that he didn’t spend more than $200. They charged him EXACTLY $250 for this. They then told me 2 more times that I was given an estimate which I know for a fact that I wasn’t.Eventually, I was told that I would receive and email with details of the pricing and credit for a regulator. It is now 2 weeks later and that never happened. I contacted them again about it and it was ignored. I would have bought a new regulator for less than the price to fix my old one from Adventure Outfitters had I known it would cost more than $100.Anyway, this is the worst customer service I ever experienced and after talking to a few more dive shops in Tampa (who were appalled that I was charged so much and treated in this way) I will not be returning. I want future customers to know how they treat new customers and take advantage of them instead of being honest with them about pricing and expectations. In response to the response by AO: None of that is true. I was NOT contacted by Adventure Outfitters or told to come in, was never sent an email, nor was I given an estimate before additional work was done on my equipment. I wasn’t even emailed or texted information about the “credit toward a regulator” that I was promised. And yes, Jenny told me via text that I would receive an email with more details. My husband was called a liar for claiming to have spent $250 by you and your staff but you are clearly lying here. I am a polite, understanding person and this was just so unprofessional in every way.
Adventure Outfitters is one of the very, VERY few diveshops that Ive come across that offer a wide variety of dive gear, KNOWLEDGEABLE and COURTEOUS staff, AND competitive prices! They have professional, upbeat, and down-to-earth instructors and Ive heard very good things about their Divemaster program! Not many diveshops offer such a broad selection of dive certifying agencies (PADI, IANTD, TDI, SDI, etc) from skindiving to recreational to technical to trimix to cavern to cave, and everything in between. They do a phenomenal job servicing gear from all walks of life (Dacor (ha) to ScubaPro to DiveRite to Hollis to Zeagle, and even Oceanic and Cressi), and not many diveshops are competent in doing so.Adventure Outfitters is also very active and involved in the Tampa Bay community - one of my favorite events is the clean-up dives (free air tank rentals!), and, of course, their spearfishing charters. As a dive enthusiast who has been diving since ~2006, has 200+ dives in the US, Caribbean, and South America, and is DAN dive professional---you arent going to find a better diveshop!! I pretty much exclusively fly to Tampa, FL for all my scuba diving needs.
Amazing dive shop! I have been diving for almost 10 years so I have been to almost every dive shop in the tampa bay area (Jims dive shop, bill Jackson, AO dive shop, tackle shack, sunshine, depth perception, and many more) I have yet to find any dive shop that had the selection they have along with the best prices, and customer service. About 2 years ago I started the long journey into tech and cave diving and they have been by my side every since. They have gear in store for tech, cave divers that no shop around here has, along with a large selection of gear for recreational diving. As I progressed into more into tech diving it started to become a very serious matter that all my gear be working and serviced properly. I Became very curious about the servicing of my gear and signed up for a equipment class. I have spent alot of time on my days off watching Alex service gear because it is a true art. Ill be honest before I Attended the class I thought servicing gear was nothing, that it would take 30 minutes a stage, put some new magical part in and bam it was done! Lol but I was definitely worng. There are alot of parts that make up a regulator and 1st stage. It can take several hours a stage to take apart, clean, assemble back together with new parts, and test. I can honestly say they will take care of you and treat you like family and will go above and beyond more then any shop for you.
Highly recommend! Everyone is super nice and all the instructors are patient and truly care about every student!
Friendly and caring staff that make you feel comfortable. They also do a great job of keeping the website and facebook up to date on upcoming events. Overall fab. Experience!!!
Great local business. Super friendly staff and great selection of gear.
Knowledgeable and friendly in everyway, plus excellent instruction!!! Im diving certified, diving with my mom, and signed up for more!!!
The lady was very nice and happily catered to my questions. I got a very nice bcd that was cheaper than buying the same one on the internet!
My wife just got home from her first pool dive. For a 500 bucks they didnt even provide a 3.99 bottle of anti fog mask spray for the class...
Great gear at a great price!
Best Dive Shop Hands Down
