Ive always had bad luck with dealerships amd cars that ran well for a few weeks and then gave me issues but Penland isnt one of those places. I walked in a year ago just to look around and ended up finding the perfect car for my family. Joey helped find me a payment that I could afford and the financing I needed. Kept that car over a year and didnt have a single issue from it. Today I walked back in to look at my options for a trade in because I needed a larger vehicle. Once again Joey came through for me. Not only did I get a great deal for my trade in but I found the perfect car and was in and out in less than an hr. If you need a car and someone that actually makes sure you are taken care of Penland is the way to go!

They were supposed to sell my car 7 months ago. They still havent even listed it on their website or through Craigslist with the rest of their vehicles. I have called several times and still nothing. Their people have lied, and misled me consistently.Update: it is now going on 1 year since my trade in and they STILLL HAVE NOT SOLD MY CAR!!!!!! I drive by every week and several times they have my car parked either off to the side on the back of the lot or behind the building. This shows absolutely ZERO effort to sell my car that they PROMISED would sell in 60 days, No problem I was told. When I have called to ask about my car they either dont know, have nothing new or act completely disinterested.These people LIED to me to make a sale and have been completely negligent in their obligation to sell my trade in. Once this issue is resolved I will NEVER get another vehicle from Penland Automotive and would Strongly Recommend you stay Far, far away from the conmen who work here.Update: I drove by Saturday to check where they had my car parked. It was around back, AGAIN!!!! I moved it to a viable spot on the lot and left. Less than 2 hours later I drive by again and they had moved it BACK TO THE BACK OF THE BUILDING!!! So I go in to ask why and the lot manager, Joey, starts yelling at me saying they only to that at night. This is an outright lie, as I have driven by the lot AT LEAST 3 times a week the ENTIRE MONTH OF NOVEMBER and it has been parked around back by the supply closet EVERY DAY, DURING BUSINESS HOURS. JOEY admits that he moved it back to the back because youre not going to tell me where to park cars on my lot. Thats right he moved it out of spite, and in the process admitted that they have made ZERO legitimate attempt to sell the car. After some back and forth he says he will give the keys and to get it off his lot. Thats right, over 1 yr after this swindler lied and conned me into taking out a 2nd car loan, and neglecting to do what they promised they are now outright reneging on the agreement, officially trying to stick me with 2 vehicles and thusly 2 payments.

I just purchased a 2013 F-150 from the dealership After several months of looking for a a truck they had the best truck for the best price only 59,000 miles on the truck in excellent condition. Traded a Honda in at Penland and bought a 500 Fiat. They gave us a great trade-in and drove back to Jamestown KY. After having the Fiat a few days, my wife drove to Frankfort and they car stalled. She took it to a Quick lube and was told there was less than a quart of oil. They put oil in and she drove it the the Fiat Dealership. After a $1,000.00 repair it was fixed. I called Penland Motors and they agreed to pay 50% of the repair bill. The Fiat has over 100,000 miles.They stepped up and help us out. Smooth talkers- especially Joey. I needed this particular diesel truck for work, and the financing fell through- YES Joey worked hard to find an alternative but was VERY suave- started to feel sales pitched which I detest. My motor was new and under warranty- they claimed they lost the paper and would get it replaced for me, after 12 visits and phone calls, the owner ignores my calls, the rest of them give lip service- its nauseating at this point- 3 months of getting the run around. If my $10,000 motor blows- Im screwed.

This place had me get cash out and drive all the way up there in the rain. Just to look at a car they knew wouldnt even open let alone start do to a bad car battery. And they had no one on sight to fix it. A complete waist of my time and resources. Ant then told me if I couldnt come back the next day while I was working the wouldnt hold the car one day and would sell it. All this even though they knew it was there fault and I was a cash in hand buyer. What is wrong with this place!! Oh and the older gentlemen was just down right rude about it. It wasnt his sale so he just didnt care. There customer service needs an overhaul from top to bottom. Wish I could have said something positive... But the whole experience was just bad. Even the websight miss represented the car as a manual transmission. You would think a place trying to sell cars in this area... would have it more together. 😞

Do not do it!!! I could have gotten a car from anywhere, but my mom has purchased 3 with them and told me that they were good people. First of all the bulb for the check engine light was taken out completely so that I would not know that there was a problem when I bought it. The turning signals were out, and both back windows were stuck, I figured out these things were wrong the first day and was told that they would be fixed... I left the car there for three days only to come back and it have the same issue, and was now turning off randomly while I drove it. I almost got hit by a truck with my children in the when this happened on the highway. They apologized and told me to bring it back and they would fix that as well as the issues that the car had from the beginning. I had to leave on military orders and couldn’t at that time, mind you at this time I had only had the car for 2 weeks and part of that they had it “fixing” it.I left the car home, and went on orders for over a month, using my work car. I get home and take the car to Auto zone first, thinking maybe the issue is simple and I won’t have to deal with them...13 error codes... so I take it to the Chevy dealership, fixing the issue will cost me $2000+ dollars! So now that I know what is wrong with it I take it back to them... that was 2 weeks ago! They still have my car and won’t even take my calls! Mind you I’m still making payments on the car, and having to find a way to and from work as well as my children a way to and from school. This is how they treat soldiers... Oh yea and I bought the best warranty they sale, extra $50 a month on the car payment, doesn’t cover anything 🤦🏾‍♀️ This is my first time actually buying from a lot. I bought my first two cars in cash from people and never had issues. This is crazy.

Spread the word far and wide they ripped people off for years in Woodruff SC now they have moved to Greenville County to rip off the good people of Greenville. They operate an illegal unlicensed company Penland Asphalt and Paving LLC they have screwed over several contractors in the area as well a several business owners they dont know how to pave. Masters at bait and switch. Google Charles William Penland and you will see these are just down right Crooked Criminals.

Saleman was so busy trying inflate price of car I left dealership. I knew owner & asked to speak to him the salesman went to get him. As owner was speaking to me the salesman told him the price he quoted me. This was to indicate not to go lower so if sold his commission would not be lower. Great people and fast process, guaranteed to leave in a car

DO NOT GO HERE!!! We were sold a total piece of junk that we were told was thoroughly inspected. My husband and I bought a 2015 Chrysler town and country with 51k miles on it for $15,500. Joey informed us that the van was in good condition and had gone through thorough inspections by their mechanics. My husband was not 5 miles down the road after purchasing this van before the engine light comes on! He attempted to go back to the dealership but they were closed. We took the van to the local chrysler dealership to find out they sold us a van with a broken valve body (WHICH IS A MAJOR AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION) We told Joey at Penland automotive about the problem which had been diagnosed by mechanics at a chrysler dealership. He was not concerned with our problem and told us its probably covered under Chryslers warranty. The manager of this dealership did not reach out to us after multiple requests to speak with him, his name is Tim Yarger according to an employee we spoke with. The price we purchased this van for was a fair price for this van in good condition but the true condition of this van was not disclosed to us. Our van is still at the mechanics awaiting repairs which is expected to take two weeks and its unknown if this will or will not be under any warranty. We have been given the run around for the past two days from this dealership and the manager. Avoid this place at all cost!!!!!!!! Do your research on this place and read reviews!!!! I wish we had!!! Lets just say we are not the first people who have been sold a car with major undisclosed mechanical issues. We have asked for some reimbursement due to the condition of the van and have been brushed off. A good dealership would be horrified they sold something in this shape! If this dealership wants to show they are a quality and trustworthy dealership then I will update this review, otherwise STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!Update: this place has made no attempt to right their wrong, do not believe their lies!!! They made a false comment on this review trying to pretend that they reached out to us but of course those are lies.

Buyer beware! This was one of the worst experiences in buying a used car ever! They really bait and switch you. After signing all of the approval paperwork, I changed the windshield wipers, and I took the car to the tire shop to turn off dash light... I got a call not even a week later to Come back in to talk to the finance department to sign paperwork where as I waited 45 mins for one of the brothers to tell me to turn the car back in and take ur old car back. All the explanations as to why were bogus. Worst customer service ever. My salesperson Kimberly Kim Mejia really treated me like I was bothering her in the 3 weeks of her ignoring my calls and texts to get my money back for warranty and down payment. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Went here for their advertised buyback was told we would get KBB value plus $5000, got there and was told they would give us $3000...no more, I had looked up KBB and it was minimum of $3600, so that plus $5000 would be $8600... They lied to get us there and then offered $3000. Avoid them at all costs. This was my second experience with their bs.

Typical sleezy used car lot, completely with matching 3 piece suit and slicked back hair. Just overhearing the way the manager was speaking to the receptionist was enough to make me leave, but out of morbid curiosity I stayed to hear them out. Upon arrival, i was open, i told them i had a preliminary deal with CarMax, i told them the price, mileage and car i was looking for, if they couldn’t be competitive i wouldn’t waste any of our time.After 45 mins, I still hadn’t seen any prices nor mileage for the 6 cars I asked for specs on. When I asked my sales man if they could give me a call once they figure everything out, he told me he would ask, then slowly made his way to wander around outside. I got up to leave, and told him to call me once they figure everything out. That was when he actually tried to get information on the cars I’d requested. Keep In mind, id been there 45 minutes and had yet to open a car door.Basically. They are going to try to pull every used car trick on you, they aren’t looking to put you in your best car, they just want to sell cars. Do yourself a favor, either take your money to a reputable dealership or CarMax and take your family to dinner with the time you will save.

Penland is a joke. We purchased a car needed a bumper from the beginning and the knew it.. Took the car up there on several occasions and called always got the run around. Now out the blue the General Manager is never there and Joey the Sales Manager tells you lies. You need to have a We Owe to get your money back on something you had to fix . When penland should of fixed it from the beginning. You call you get the run around you go up there you get the run around...Never again will i get nor recommend anyone to get a car from penland automotive.
