Was planning a trip through town and wanted to see my old hangout. Im heartbroken that the place is closed. This was where I discovered everything nerdy: Pokémon, MtG, D&D, VtM. This place made me the nerd I am today.
Every time I have gone here the staff has been outstanding. They know their card games, and cards. They helped me come up with a few good card deck options for Magic.
I went to a pre-release and it was managed well with a readily available judge. The shop itself has a plethora of board games and card games for purchase. The staff is very friendly and definately somewhere I could see making my main magic shop.
Great place for Magic the Gathering, the staff has always been very helpful. My son is really into MTG and has lots of questions and the staff has always been great.
Cool store, but theyve got a smaller selection than some of their competitors. Seen to have a good community but up, though.
Great small game shop. Staff are great at listening and recommending games to fit your needs.
Closed on 11/23/2016. Was a lovely store with a lot of good memories, will be missed.
Ancient Wonders has a great location, an excellent selection of Tabletop Role-Playing Games & Board Games, and an incredibly helpful & knowledgeable staff.
Well stocked, decently priced, and the older gentleman at the desk is very respectful and knowledgable!
Ancient Wonders has a tremendous selection of out of print and older RPGs, I have found copies of RPGs on their shelves that I havent been able to find on the web. Their Magic tournaments and Pre-Releases have all been high quality as well and the staff is friendly and informative.
We will remember you always:(
I used to come to this shop when I was a kid for magic, Pokemon, and comics. I bought my first cards there, and many more after. The last time I went was around 2001, besides this last year. around november, a friend and I drove over and asked inside if they still sold Pokemon cards. there was a limited selection, but we ended up spending around $50 total on sealed booster packs. We left the store and went to the car to open our packs, but were dismayed when the packs that we opened contained counterfeit cards! I have acquired many fakes over the years, but i had never opened a pack that looked official, just to find multiple rares/holos or cards from different sets, all printed on different cardstock and miscut. In other words, not very good fakes, and the fact that the cards inside were dated 2008 when the pack label was dated 2006 confirmed our suspicions. Of course, we walked back inside and very politely brought this up to the only employee working at the time. She claimed to not know anything about Pokemon cards, and offered for us to trade out the ones we hadnt opened for different packs, but she wouldnt give us any kind of refund for the obviously fake cards. Furthermore, when we asked if the owner or manager was there and she tod us he was out of town until the next week. So, we traded out some packs, and as soon as we left, discovered that those were fake too. I know that Ancient Wonders is well reputed in Magic the Gathering, but i would think twice about buying anything Pokemon from this store.
I have been a regular customer at Ancient Wonders for over 15 years. When I moved to the Portland area I was a tournament Magic: the Gathering player. Ancient Wonders had the best supply of boosters and singles around. Now I mostly play Dungeons & Dragons. They carry 3.5, 4th, and Pathfinder. They also have the largest selection around of used D&D, AD&D, and 2nd Edition. They have more trading cards games than I have heard of. They have a large Warhammer section, and a bunch of non-standard board games.I sold my MTG collection and my old D&D books there for a very fair price.Ancient Wonders is a gaming shop through and through. They have tables for gaming and hold MTG tournaments. The owner and employees have a great deal of gaming experience, and I can talk to them for hours. If I have one complaint it is that the place is a little messy. They have so much out of print inventory that it isnt always organized. Still, if you are looking for a copy of Ravenloft for 2nd Edition D&D or the World of Greyhawk box set, Ancient Wonders is your best bet.
Super friendly staff and the local mtg players are nice. I felt included right away.
They had Smash Up .... Awesome
Great service, good selection, poor atmosphere.
Horrible customer service, I walked in planning on spending a few hundred dollars on MTG cards, and couldnt get an employee to acknowledge my existence. I approached the counter and the man behind the counter walked away from me. Will not be back!
Awesome
