Spent $15 in Uber and rushed my day to drop off and pick up the car. Was told to pick up at 3:30, or by 5, since they “close at 5 and won’t open until next week”.Went for pickup at 4:30, got told they didn’t look at it. They said they’ll do tomorrow, which is four days before next week. No explanation, no “sorry” in their words or in the air of the room.Maybe they’ll do a fantastic job on my car tomorrow and I’ll fix my review then, but that depends on the condition that I bring my car back. Or they rob my car back.That’s fine though. They value their customer relationships, but they didn’t say they guarantee that you’ll be a customer. Maybe they have high standards for being their customer, as high as they are. Clearly I don’t qualify there. You will though. Try it.

Dave is very professional from scheduling to providing exact cost for repairs. I visited Midas here for TPMS sensor alarm that didnt go away, and they diagnosed the exact TPMS sensor that was not working and replaced it. They also took care of the slow-leaking tire. The alarm was gone after service, and I am very happy with their services. Will definitely revisit for future car services.

Went there once in the early morning to see if I can get an appointment later in the day. There is this one guy cut me off several times won’t let me finish my sentences with “we will talk about it when it’s your appointment” kind of stuff. Guess what: I never come back here again, and don’t recommend any international students come here. This person clearly had a condescending tone although I don’t a single clue what gives him the confidence. Probably salty that I drive a car better than him.

Took our car here and told them the car was cutting out. Ended up needing a wire harness replaced. They had to order the part and told us to bring the car back that following Wednesday. But that we needed to pay a $100 deposit to make sure we came back. Said it would cost $500+. We took it somewhere else and got everything done for $149. On top of that....when Midas called to let us know what they found out, we mentioned the car cutting out and the guy said well you never said anything about the car cutting out out! You need to bring it in for another diagnostic! ....Wow

A friend recommended me Midas in Urbana when I bought my first car. I’ve been their customer since 2018. The owner, Dave Peters, has always been prompt, courteous, and helpful both in person and over the phone. The experience for which I’m rating the business with 5 stars is about a brake checkup I needed a few weeks ago after a road trip incident returning from Minneapolis. There was a noise coming from the back wheels. I was afraid the work would be expensive since I had Midas mechanics have the whole break system replaced about a year or so ago. I visited them again to see what they could do. They had my car ready a few hours after my visit at no cost. I was speechless. I tried to tip them, but they didn’t take it. These guys are really cool.

Dave is awesome, and the technicians know exactly what theyre doing. We thought we needed front and rear brakes done (in addition to other stuff). Turned out the rear breaks were fine, and THEY TOLD US SO. They could have replaced them and charged us and we wouldnt have known the difference. We are customers for life!

I have gone to Midas on University several times for oil changes, tire rotations, tire patching, and tire replacements and have always received great (and fast!) services at reasonable prices. I definitely recommend them if you need any quick work done right!

Brought my car in for an alignment and an oil change, service was amazing. I thought there was problem with the alignment after having it serviced, but after bringing it in, it turns out my tires needed to be changed from right to left and left to right because they had worn unevenly causing my problem. Dave the manager took care of it for me and I would highly recommend this place to anyone with auto care needs.

I was honestly skeptical about using big chain repair shop, but if you get through the fixed inspection cost, they can be super flexible with your needs and they wont give up on the job until you are satisfied. I had fuel leak fixed and exhaust installed done here.

The shop changed ownership in October. I didnt go there before then so I dont know anything about the shop prior to then but they have been great to me. They are honest and fair about what work needs done and wont oversell you. They also gave a discount for employees of the company I work for which was very helpful! I will be coming back for my next service - very pleased!The only thing I would change is that the lobby smells like smoke - this may be a carryover from the previous owners...

One of my tires went flat about 7pm on aThursday night. I searched many locations around town online for a next day appointment. However, the only available appointments were days out making it very inconvenient. Midas was the only location with appointment availability first thing in the next morning. From first contact to the final transaction I felt like they cared and assured me theyd get me the best tires at a reasonable price. Its always a plus when a customer feels like a person versus the business as usual pay and go attitude. This was my first time doing business with Midas but it sure wont be the last. Thanks for the amazing service!!!

Passing through town on vacation a couple months ago, and our starter went out while stopped at a local gas station. Called Midas of Urbana and they were able to get us in right away. They suggested a great towing company that provided quality speedy service and we were very grateful. Within just 2.5 hours of our call to Midas, we were back on the road to enjoy our trip. Thanks Midas for coming to the rescue! And thanks Dave for outstanding customer service!

My experience here was great - the owner was very friendly, and they were very quick and responsive. I came in with a flat tire, and they found that it was simply due to a nail in my tire, and patched it up. It would have been easy to tell me that all of my tires were shot, and that they would all need to be replaced, but instead they were fair and truthful, leaving me with a $22 bill rather than what would have been close to $500.

I had two wheels and rims that needed to be replaced. This Midas gave a great quote, saved one of the rims, and then replaced the hubcaps a few days later complementary. Thanks Dave!

Changed a new rear tail light at Midas, and also got my bumper polished. The owner was a very nice and kind person, he gave me a fair price. They were efficiency as well. Definitely recommended this place for car care.

As a single woman I have found it very difficult to feel respected and treated fairly stepping into a service or repair shop. I not only felt respected but I really appreciated the friendly service and the opportunity to walk around my car with the staff member to learn what was causing a strange creaking noise on my car. I phoned ahead to make sure I could get in on a Saturday and they were able to get me in OK. They phoned back with an estimate shortly thereafter and got the work done within the day. No issues followed and when I got the car back my check engine light was no longer on. I really appreciate them being open on Saturday and the owner was pleasant to interact with - Id use these services again.

Bad experience with this Midas. This shop is unprofessional, dishonest and disorganized. They charge you high and add unnecessary items if you are a layman. I took my car there for a car problem, they said that I need to replace all 6 spark plugs in order to fix the problem. I did what they said, however the car problem was not fixed at all, and they charged me $24.9 on each single spark plug, this did not include labor. Later I found that spark plug is actually very inexpensive, about $6 - 8 per plug. However, they charged 4 times higher on that. In addition, if you leave you car there over night, they may drive your car for their personal transportation. After I read reviews from previous customers, I found that I was treated with similar cheating tricks as what was experienced by other customers. NEVER GO THERE !!!

I will give credit to the owner as he is very nice, will engage in conversation and does talk with you while you wait.However, the service isnt that reliable. I went in for a tire change and was told it would only take an hour. I even called to ask for price, time, and wait period. I was given a time to come in, came in, and ended up waiting over 5 hours. I was also charged more than the price I was given. For a tire change I would have thought that it would be quicker than 5 HOURS. I understand that it took some time as my tires ended up not being the standard issue that comes with the car, but 5 HOURS???Also, I was already cautious as one of my friends had previously visited and gotten a completely wrong diagnosis about his car, one that could have ended up tragically for him if he hadnt visited a different place for a second opinion.

I had an appointment at 7:30 AM and got the confirmation before I went there. However, I was told that I had to wait until the afternoon or the next day because the space was full (some customers put their cars there the day before). The employees attitude was terrible and he did not care at all if this caused inconvenience for the customers who had appointments. If you cannot provide service as scheduled (you knew this the day before), why you didnt contact me to reschedule? Do making appointment and confirmation mean nothing to Midas?

Had to get a oil change and they were pretty fast and quick.

I came in with a couple dashboard lights on my Toyota Corolla. One was a simple oil change reminder that they reset right away (I had recently gotten an oil change). The other was an airbag light. I had gone to several Toyota dealerships to try to fix the airbag issue and they couldnt solve the problem; Toyota even had my airbags replaced. From what Toyota told me, it was most likely a sensor issue, which would be expensive to replace. I had pretty much given up on trying to fix the problem. I drove around almost a year with my airbags off, but I decided to go to this Midas to get another diagnosis of my issue.I didnt have an appointment. I drove up and less than 30 min later, my issue was fixed. It was a airbag sensor issue. After they diagnosed the issue, they suggested I go to a Toyota dealer. I was completely okay with this. I just wanted to confirm what was wrong, but then one of the mechanics came back and said we might be able to fix it, if we re-calibrate it. They tried re-calibrating my sensors several times, until my sensors reset. My airbags are finally working! I cant begin to explain the relief!I couldnt have asked for better service. The owner and the mechanics were very friendly, patient, and diligent. They created a very welcoming environment. I would definitely recommend coming to this business for diagnosis and repair!

This is literally the WORST Midas I have ever been to. They OVERCHARGE you for everything and they are SLOW. The only good thing about this business is that they accept walk-ins. All of the other mechanics around Urbana-Champaign are booked due to appointment. The first time I went here they over charged me, 400$, for a brake line. They had my car for 2 DAYS. The second time I came here was because my heat wasnt working. (I was making a 2 hour drive to Chicago later that night so I needed someone to take me that day) I told them about the trouble I was having with my heat and all the things I had done to try to get it to work. After an HOUR of guessing what the problem was, they came to the conclusion that I needed a new thermostat. So I had them replace it. They wanted to charge me 250$ to replace it and told me to come back in 2 hours. (An actual thermostat typically cost less than 10$, the 240$ was for labor) After 9 HOURS, they replaced my thermostat and my heat still DID NOT WORK. After that I demanded my car back because I had a flight to catch in Chicago. The owner only charged me 125$ because my heat still didnt work when I left. OVERALL THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!!!!!

Beware, do not take your car here! Took my car into Midas.. 2 days later they say my car is great, that it runs great.. I started my car, ok sure it works. Push the gas, oh my lanta it lags and then the car will jolt and take off and then slow down. The car squeaks, it shakes and sounds dead when I stop. When we talked to the owner and mechanic they said they have no idea what is wrong with the car, that they did not know what steps to take to fix it. They said It runs right? It works this car was way better before taking it in for a bad alternator. This car is unsafe and now I got screwed from paying Midas money for a horrible job.

I went to Midas to get an estimate for the repair of my car and the Indian man that was in the shop was rude and practically refused to provide me with a quote to fix the car. I do not recommend this place.

I called up Midas in Urbana when my car battery died and I couldnt jump start it. Normally they dont come out on call but Atta was super nice and came out to jump start my car on Lincoln and Green. I then took it there to get a new battery which they did fairly quickly because I had class. Atta was really friendly and although Im sure the prices were on the more expensive side, for a Midas this was a really great one. Friendly people.

I brought my car to fix it. Then the manager said it will cost $800 to fix the problem which is more than the car value price. They urged me to sell a car to a junkyard and gave me only $50! My car had recently changed 4 brand new all-season tire. I was forced to do that and the guy even pushed to sell a used car which I didnt want at all. Im very upset at how they treated customers.

The owner and the mechanics are very friendly. They make it feel very homely. The owner is very kind and made sure any issues I had were pointed out. This is the second time I went there and I showed up late after they were closing shop. The owner saw my need to get an oil change and personally helped me out. He noticed other issues and pointed those out to me as well, all when he didnt have to. When I offered to tip, he said No tip, were just doing our jobs. Highly respectable business.

My boyfriends car was having serious trouble while we were here for the weekend and we are from Chicago so it was not drivable back home. Since he was at school, I had to take his car and for Diagnostics. They charged $90 an hour for full Diagnostics, it took 5 minutes for the mechanic to run it and charged me $45 for a basic procedure. The same exact procedure would have been free at AutoZone. I do not know anything about cars, and I voice that and my situation thinking that he would understand and help me out more. All that happened was I was taken advantage of, and not giving the correct information whatsoever. They overcharged 4 irrelevant information and demeaned me during the process. I feel stupid and used. We will definitely be making a very Stern phone call, demanding our money back and will never be visiting here again.

They are lack of understanding what customer needs. They do not listen customers and act like they know everything and blame the customer for miscommunication with a witty manner. You tell them please check my lights, engine indications, simply general things that a driver may not be aware of implicit definitions of problems and fix them if there is any problem. Very clear right? They dont even plug that diagnosis device to see what are the potential alarms or failures in system, they cant even see the missing reflector with bare eyes. They keep telling you they replaced the bulbs of rear part, however, the problem is not bulbs but the main board which I know as a driver but they dont know as a mechanic. They dont even clean a tire where they charge $1000 for brakes. Briefly, they dont focus what customer wants, they dont listen, they act like they are perfect at what they are doing but they are not aware of how to diagnose a simple failure. Finally, they make the customer feel terrible after they get your money by saying I am sorry, your car sit here for a week and you should have told us what to do instead of saying now. Be a conscious consumer, dont believe in what they are telling to you because they will act they didnt hear what u said. terrible experience, simply avoid making business with them.

I just wanted to say few things about the new ownership. First of all they lack professionalism. When I wanted to book appointment for oil change, the owner had asked for my first and last name but interrupted and concluded conversation immediately. I wasn’t even finished spelling my name. Also, Dave, the owner treated my dad poorly during his experience in the store. There was a form of miscommunication and he judged my dad for his “lack of english proficiency” as a music professor. Essentially, he mocked my dad for his english proficiency, telling him to read slower and study more english, etc. I don’t appreciate the ignorance and his insensitiveness towards people, especially foreigners. He needs to change his attitude and have more empathy towards all types of people. But anyway, I’m not ever going to this place! HORRIBLE!

My car was making a churning noise every time I breaked, so I took it in to see what the problem was. They told me I needed basically everything on my breaks and it would be $910. I just got my breaks fixed a year and a half ago, and I knew $910 was outrageous for breaks. But I figured Midas was a nation wide reputable company so I got it done. My car immediately made the same noise when I got it back, and so I took it back and they admitted they misdiagnosed it and it was actually the ABS system. So he said he do it for free, but I insisted on him returning the difference In the money. He ended up doing $130 worth of work on the ABS, but wouldnt compensate the difference for the money I spent on the misdiagnosed breaks. Currently beginning the process of litigation.And by coincidence, while we were arguing, another customer came in and began to scream at the owner for writing him a bad check and giving him the run around and called the police on him. This guy is a total scammer. DO NOT GO THERE.

Professional mechanics. They told me about the brakes and that I do not need to change them for 10000 miles. This was while the other mechanic I went to wanted to change my breaks for 130$.

I brought my car in because the brake lights were not coming on because of a wiring issue. I waited an hour before they even looked at the car. Then five minutes later they told me it was not the bulb (which I already knew) and that I would have to come back another day for them to look at the car again and find the wiring problem. I asked him how long this would take and he said one or two hours. This was 5 pm and they close at 7 pm so why it could not be done that day is beyond me.Today my husband opened the trunk to put away groceries and found that the plastic that covers the trunk lock latch had been broken off and that after they looked at the bulbs they did not bother to put back the carpet or reattach the net across the back of the trunk.This is a laziness and unprofessionalism I cannot believe. Ive never had a car place BREAK parts of my car before. Our only other experience with them was waiting for an hour for an oil change so we will never go back there ever again. I would hate to give them the opportunity to do any real damage to my car!
