They guy they have do the application and finger prints let me down however he didnt add the unit number in my address there for I got denied and have to wait another 90 days before getting it. I would suggest to do the application your self. So high caliber very great place would recommend their class but not the guy who does the application

When I worked in Urbana, had membership and would go over for lunch break. Staff was always helpful and knowledgeable. They are very strict, but I like that they are watching and safety conscious.Taken a few classes, enjoyed them and felt more confident with each level. Would like to see more classes with real life awareness and training.A little pricey for me to go on a regular basis without membership.

Went here with a friend, for the novelty experience of it. There rental selection is fun! Not a huge gun guy but that didnt matter. Staff was friendly and helped us get all sorted. Didnt make us feel dumb or out of our element like I feared. Happy to have something like this in town. Prices were reasonable. Very clean, safe place. Lots of staff on hand.

Im in a complete state of shock! Rooms are way to small! Guy was shooting a 30. caliber big bore high powered rifle!! In that small of a space! Thats Nuts! They ask way to many questions! Not enough light! Rules on top of Rules! They Breath down your neck/throat UGH! They ask way too many personal questions about everything! Too many people loitering around! 5-10 people just sitting around! Not enough seating! They watch you like a hawk! I have been to plenty of indoor gun ranges before in many states but this is by far the worst I have seen! Find somewhere else to shoot! This is not a place to enjoy shooting! I will never return! Theres plenty of places to shoot in the Country.

Just finished a 2 day course taught by Mr. Von Young and I absolutely loved it! Mr. Young was so engaging and knowledgeable! I really feel like I got a lot more out of the class than I even expected. Great job to High Caliber for having such an experienced and professional staff. Their safety focus is also really impressive. I plan to continue with my training and will take advantage of the ladies night deal ($5 for half hour of range time on Wednesday nights). I feel very safe and comfortable shooting here. Thank you!

My first visit (and first time shooting). The staff walked me through the basics of gun handling and assisted me with my first shot. The staff were more than nice, they took the time to work with myself and a friend so we understood how to handle a firearm. I have returned a couple times and have enjoyed the conversations and stories from the staff. For $20 a lane it’s more than worth it to be in a facility that is safe, clean and knowing they are there to help. I will always return.

After reading various poor reviews, I was pleasantly surprised that I couldnt find any negative treatment.I hadnt shot my weapons in close to 20 years and I have gone several times and all staff members were professional and willing to assist as needed. I even asked one of the range officers to help me sight in my weapon and he assisted me.Another offered to provide me with an iron sight tool to align my front sight. Genuine, kind and professional is how I rate them.

Ive been there several times over the past couple of months. Im a novice shooter looking for a hobby for semi-retirement and guns were a part of my childhood. The folks there are absolutely superb, helpful, and REALLY into safety on the range. Ive heard criticism that they are too strict with the range rules. I disagree. Ive seen dads bring in their younger sons for the boys first time experiences and watched as the staff took a great deal of time helping the young one enjoy the experience. I WANT them to be strict and safe. I purchased a membership to High Caliber today. Im glad I did. Its a superb place and Im totally impressed!

After reading many of these reviews, its hard to believe that I went to the same shooting range yesterday. I really enjoyed my time there, and everyone was polite, courteous and very professional. Came here for the first time since it’s the only range around here. I was hesitate because of some of the negative reviews but my experience here was surprising good today! Yes they make you watch safety videos and shoot five rounds to be qualified to shoot here but I appreciate their concern for safety. Among all the shooting ranges I have used in the states, this one I felt safest. The staff here are friendly and respectful to customers. The facility is new and clean. For $20 you get a day pass, that’s awesome! Will definitely recommend!

Yes they check your ammo for steel and that you can handle a gun safely. Wouldnt you if you had a couple million wrapped up in your business?Great staff and backup facility if you cant shoot outdoors. Good variety of ammo to use if you need some. And a super place to go if you want to learn about guns and how to handle one safely. Very much recommend to new shooters.

Previously gave this place a one star rating due to the owner over stepping his bounds but after today I take it back. I decided to try high caliber one last time and Im glad I did. The range was clean, the staff was friendly, and I had an overall good time. Ill update this review as I go back and try it again but if they continue like this then I see it being five stars instead of 4. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars was because of my previous experience.

This an excellent facility staffed with very nice people. The facility is large, new and well stocked. They sell new weapons and you can choose from over 20+ to shoot before you buy. The price is reasonable @ $20 for the first shooter, with target and $10 for each additional. You can bring your own targets and ammo. The range itself is well lit, marked and electronic. You can shoot rifles, shotguns and pistols including magnums. No steel ammo is allowed. All first timers are required to watch an 8 minute safety video. There is no other indoor range in the area and this is a great addition to the community.

Just a warning for starters: they charge too high because they are the only range in Champaign. The range owner and staff will only stop treating you like dogs only if you pay more than 45 dollars. I normally only spend 20 dollars an hour on other ranges. If you have never shot a gun, you can go to this range. But I suggest gun lovers and experienced shooters avoid this place. They disrespect you, they only respect money.

Clean, knowledgeable staff, and most of all, safe. Idea/suggestion: you could offset the higher price of the lane/gun rentals with more aggressive pricing on ammo, and thus also control ammo quality used at your gun range. If I knew youd be a dollar less per 50 than the going rate out there, Id develop the habit of buying from you every time, and not even worry about securing ammo prior to my visit. Id see it as more convenient too, in these time-compressed days.

If you are so amped to shoot that you get angry over a safety video, or you cant hit the paper at 5 yards, YOU are dangerous and I dont want to be anywhere near you! This facility is great! They were still aware and watching through the window, ready to help, but no Nazi tactics!

You dont have to worry about safety here, because they watch you like hawks. Now I understand safety with firearms is number one but even when I was in the Marine Corp I never felt this under pressure. I always felt like they were just waiting to yell at me. I also felt more like a burden than welcome. The one good saving grace was a guy behind the counter did check a gun I had received from my step dad to make sure there was nothing hazardous before I shot it. All in all I would try to find an outdoor range before coming back here.

Good for beginners but not a good place to shoot for experienced shooters. You can hardly scratch your head without someone breathing down your neck about it. Review №38

The facility is very clean and professional, the air cycling is great. However this place is just way too expensive especially now in these economic times. It cost 20$ per person per hour and $30 to share your lane with a friend or a spouse. I mean come on! These guys really hurt the wallet. Plus they dont allow any kind of steel case or steel core ammo which is understandable. However, when you add in the cost of expensive ammo and $20, costs start to get quite ridiculous. They do offer membership that is $300 a year and $500/yr with a spouse or a friend. But that does not make their range free for you. It only gives you a half-off discount, making it $10/hour which puts it in line with other gun ranges around the country. There are several indoor pistol ranges in Bloomington/Normal and surrounding towns and cities that charge between $10-$14 an hour. High Caliber is the only indoor gun range I have ever seen cost $20/hr and $30/hr just to share your lane! To clarify, I have nothing against them and they do have a professional and well kept establishment, but their prices are just plain Scary.

Nice staff but way to expensive. Me and my buddy were out this way to pick up a new pistol he just bought. We went to this range and they charged us 100 for 2 boxes of cheap 9mm. And to use the range we had to buy 2 glasses 10 each not being complimentary. Every other gun range Ive been to we never had to buy ear protection. Had to buy ear plugs aswell. A great cash grab if you hit the target holder which is 10. Never would I think I ever be charged for that. Until they lower their prices avoid here it you can.

One reason I like this facility is the emphasis on range safety...safety requires strict rules. Would you fly on an airplane that was not serviced by strict safety rules? How many of the people who have reviewed this business and claimed that the rules were too strict ever served in the military...I bet not many. I believe those of us who were trained on military or police firearm ranges appreciate the rules instead of complain about them.

The range is good enough, but a little too hot in the summer. Rentals are a little pricey like most (but not all) of their ammo. The shop is okay, but a little limited on the shelf. Most of the staff are nice and even friendly, but I too have had a run in with seeing one of their staff yelling at a customer and being rude. I go there to shoot indoors and now have no plans on buying much of anything else from them as I just cannot reconcile what I witnessed. As soon as my home range is up and running, I will likely no longer go at all.

Do not understand the negative reviews, I have never been treated rudely there. I find the staff to be knowledgeable, helpful and as friendly as possible while still watching over a group of people handling deadly tools. The only thing I could imagine that would elicit any thing else from them would be if you gave them attitude and even at that Ive never seen them do more than get firm. I dont want to be on the firing line with someone that thinks theyre playing Call of Duty.Yes they are strict over range rules, I would not have it any other way. I cant believe one complaint was that they required eye and ear protection - aside from liability issues they are looking out for you here- I have tinnitus and trust me it SUCKS! It take a special kind fool to want to shoot indoors (or at all) without protecting your eyes and ears. What kind of entitled brat expects to be comped the protection? As to price I find their ammo to be on a par wirth retail, but theyve never given me any static about bringing my own as long as it doesnt have steel cores which would tear up their backstops. I wish theyd allow me to shoot my reloads but they have no way (Who believes the guy that said they charged 100 for 2 boxes of 9mm) Dont understand the guy that paid $50 for 10 AR shots and 10 Pistol shots unless he was renting weapons and only shooting the comped ammo but whatever the reason - get over it -- they tell you costs upfront, you dont have to go with it. Their personal instructors are reasonably priced and excellent. The facility is well equipped and well managed, and as far as cost, I find it reasonable for a relatively new range. Also if you factor the cost of a drive to Bloomington and back (bothe time and gas) it a no brainer for a local resident (and I have shot at Bloomington before and while I liked the facility I found my treatment there rather gruff and uninviting - just me maybe but same over several trips)

They have good facility. Competitive price. Clean and good targets. Very good distance to many places in town. However, people there are very rude, hostile to some extent. They will yell at a common customer like treating you as a Navy Seal solder in Devil s week. Very unhappy to me.They dont put the range rule on their website but I will help them put it here.1/ No camera2/ They will tell you that you can bring a friend without FOID but they dont tell you if you want to go to rest room, your friend has to stop shooting and go with you. That is a state law. If you dont know it, you better know it. Or they will yell at you no matter what job you are doing and how old you are.If you dont want to get insulted, please read this. What a good thing to work well with customers is to let them know every rule you have or some state law they might not know. Do it precautiously to prevent bad things to break laws to you and your customers instead of using yelling, deterring, frightening someone. We, customers are paying a lot of money to come, not buying their rudeness. Grumpy old attitude is not allowed. This is a brand new business in town.As a new customer, please ask high caliber carefully before follow them with a bag of gun to the shooting range. That is some tip from me.

Anyplace that wont allow me to shoot my own hand loads is useless to me. Ive been loading my own ammo since 1969 & Im not gonna start buying production line produced ammo now. The only ammo I buy is 22 rimfire, since theres no economical way of reloading it. Ive already got an outdoor range I can shoot at 8 months out of the year & it costs only $100/year. Actually I can shoot all year, but winter is a tad cool. I can shoot any load I want there. I think Ill start practicing at home with my pellet pistol during the winter months. I can shoot centerfire everything else the other 8 months at the outdoor range I normally shoot at.

He want to do training session in depth for 2 hours costing $100 I agreed but even worse than that he has no time now so I have to schedule appointment. Although there was just one person in the shooting range.I paid 64 dollar for 15 minutes 10 min of it video orientation and paper work and the stupid personal questions and 5 min for using the shootimg range.I felt that they just stole my money.
