I love this little Mexican ice cream shop on Cunningham. Its tucked away in the little strip mall behind Walgreens, Im surprised more people dont come here but thats okay with me, less crowded so I can get my desserts faster. I got the coconut paleteria, made with real coconut chunks, its authentic just like you would find all over Mexico and it was so good. The ice cream scoops I got was spicy chocolate, strawberries and cream and corn. The spicy chocolate had a hint of heat, the strawberries and cream was probably my favorite and corn ice cream had little pieces of corn, reminded a little of corn bread but you could taste the natural sweetness of the corn, I recommend. This is a great place to grab something cold on a hot day. They also served sandwiches and tamales if you were a little more hungry and wanted something more filling. They had so many varieties of Mexican flavors I have to come back and try them all. Great for groups or after a dinner date. Support local.

Im not an ice cream person. But I accompany my wife and usually sample. But this one is actually good. I got one for myself - the mamey. This is much better than the excessively sweet chocolate-everywhere, caramel-everywhere type of ice creams you find in standard chains. Would go back to try their Avocado ice cream. Seems interesting. Also the price is decent.

Went here for my first time and was very impressed! The strip mall that its attached to is pretty unassuming, but this is definitely a diamond in the rough. The prices are super reasonable and the staff is very friendly. Their ice cream tasted really great, and they offer flavors not seen anywhere else in other ice cream shops around town. We didnt try any, but they also had a large variety of cool popsicles that looked really beautiful. Would highly recommend making the trip out to try it for yourself!

Only good place in the area to get real fruit-flavored or water-based ice cream. They have a pretty wide selection of high-quality flavors, and other snacks to choose from. One time I had their sandwich and it was pretty good too.

El Oasis is awesome! They have so many delicious flavors that I dont think you can get anywhere else in the area. I had the corn ice cream which I never had thought could be an ice cream flavor, but it was actually really good!

El Oasis makes homemade popsicles on a tamarind stick that are out of this world!! Must try for a unique dessert experience!! Owned by the same awesome people who own La Mixteca.

They have a lot of interesting ice cream flavors and everyone can try 2 samples for free! Have fun with it. I got a guava popsicle and it was very refreshing!

Wonderful place. Met the owner today, really great guy. He delivers a unique and quality product while also caring about the community. Ive never had ice cream like this before. They were very polite and helpful to me even though Im an uncultured white person haha.This is one of the true hidden gems of the area. Ill be taking friends here!

Place is kinda hidden if you are not from Urbana, but definitely worth a visit! Lots of different items with a pretty impressive menu. Prices are great and everyone we interacted was great!

Would never have guessed chili powder was great on ice cream. My adult children took me here for my birthday and it really was a treat. The owner was very helpful explaining the different kinds of Mexican ice cream (theres chocolate but no butter pecan).

We stopped in last night for the first time. We live nearby and have driven by many times. Why didnt we stop sooner?? Everything about this place is warm and welcoming. The ice cream was awesome! It was creamy and the flavors were amazing. Whether it is milk based or water based you cant go wrong. Give this place a try. You wont be disappointed.

THEY HAVE TAMALES IN THE WINTER MONTHS!!!!!!!!!! Trust me. Try the tamales! I just had a strawberry tamale from them. Life will evermore be known as the before strawberry tamale period and the strawberry tamale age of enlightenment. :)

This place was delicious! My husband had Chyobas (sp?) which is mango ice cream, fresh mango, and chili powder. The spicy complemented the sweet perfectly! I tried the queso, spicy chocolate, and chonges. The queso was not like anything Ive had before, and Id order it again. The chonges was ok. The spicy chocolate was superb. It was a nice milk chocolate flavor and then just left a bit of heat at the end. Going back here for sure!

The lady was so nice. I am new to this place so I first order the chamoyada because it is huge on the menu. The lady nicely let me tried the chamoyada and talked me out of this ( the sauce was great but I just wanted pure coconut ice cream). Thanks to her, I just finished the best coconut ice cream I have ever had! The almost chewy texture, the chunks of coconut, and the creaminess! I love this place!

Such an awesome find! Exotic and delicious ice cream flavors include mango, passionfruit, coconut, cheese, corn, avocado, with option of hot pepper! I dont do it justice with my description, but this shoppe is definitely worth a visit! Friendly service, good prices, plus theres even hot authentic Mexican food available if you want something more substantial. A gem.

Amazing palentas!! We used to live in the city and miss the guys on their bikes selling these. El oasis are even more amazing than we remember. We had coconut, watermelon (water based), and strawberry (water based). All had huge chinks of fruit. We will be back!

Best icecream in the Chambana area! They have fruits shipped in from Latin America that most Americans have never heard of. They have vegan ice cream if you prefer. They also have tortas and elotes if sweet isnt your thing. Conveniently located adjacent to the best Hispanic grocery store in town and a darn good Mexican restaurant as well

Ive been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got there for some water based ice cream. The man behind the counter was very friendly and explained everything I avoid dairy and loved that they had tons of options. The milk based ice cream looks great too and there were lots of interesting flavors of both (I got tamarind and pineapple). The paletas looked good too and Ill have to give those a try next time

Ive been in town for one year and am angry that I just found this place. The water based ice cream is explosive in flavor. The torta was filling and fantastic. And the people who own the store are so very helpful. A must for anyone living or visiting.

I stopped in here while waiting for a prescription to be filled at Walgreens... and Im very glad I did! My daughter and I are ice cream snobs and our finicky selves were rewarded with fabulousness! The owners make all their own ice creams, and the flavor selection? Just WOW! They had everything from the norm to the exotic and dairy free options as well. Being a Mexican-owned shop, they had tamarind and spicy-pineapple sorbets, which we sampled and enjoyed, but their Mexican chocolate...the Virgin Mother smiled upon that one! The scoops were HUGE, the owner friendly and gracious and we will be back...often!

Every flavor has been simply amazing. There are unusual flavors, but each is worth a try. Whether you get a popsicle or scoop style, its worth it. The fruit based ice creams are simply out of this world. Make sure to try the Chamoyada, a Mexican dessert that may seem strange at first, but the more you try it, the better it is and youll probably be back for more and recommending it to people.

The avocado flavor is very interesting and a must try. Other flavors are mostly good as well.

Excellent. Best ice cream in Champaign-Urbana and ranks high for Midwest ice cream shops. Rum Raison is extraordinary. The spicy mango takes me back to my time in Mexico. Service is fantastic. A lot of traditional Mexican flavors and some old north of the border favorites too. They have other Mexican specialties. Enjoy!

The customer service is very very poor. But it gets two stars from me because they have the Aloe Leaf there and that is very hard to find. Otherwise they would have only received one star from me IF ANY AT ALL..

How did I not know about this place after living in Urbana for 4 years? I dont know where to start. EVERYTHING here is awesome! Water based ice creams? Yes!! My favorites might be guava and spicy mango. Other awesomeness includes rum and raisin ice cream, frutas con chile (my favorite are mango and pineapple - you can mix and match). However, above all is the impossible cake (yes, thats really the name). Its half cake and half flan and fully awesome.

This is my new favorite place in C-U for goodies. The coconut and mamey are my favorite flavors, but everything is amazing!

My SIL is Mexican and she was craving a bit of home while she was visiting so I brought her here. She was thrilled with finding all the flavors she missed from home now that she lives in NJ. A great place to find traditional Mexican ice-cream (nieve y helado), smoothies, and other treats (takis or gansitos). I personally recommend the tamarind and guava flavors.

This place is a gem in the C-U area and I highly recommend that anyone who enjoys ice cream should go here for their awesome mix of traditional and unique flavors. Their RICE paleta is basically horchata in popsicle form and my partner loves their coconut and avocado flavors. The owners are so sweet and patient while I struggle through the process of sampling and picking a flavor.
