We moved in to our Clayton home 3 1/2 weeks ago. So far, we have been very pleased with the entire process considering we were all dealing with issues related to COVID-19 and record rainfall in our area this past spring and summer. Due to these issues, it was impossible for everything to go perfectly, but we never felt Clayton Homes Victoria was at fault for any of the bumps along the way. I will say that our 5 star review is largely due to two individuals at Clayton Homes Victoria - Stephanie in sales and Miguel their general contractor.Stephanie was there for us during the entire process. She was friendly, communicative, and knowledgeable. If she didnt know the answer to any of our questions, she found it. She never made us feel that we were pestering her or that any of our questions were insignificant. And did I mention that shes one of the kindest ladies Ive ever met?Miguel is their go-to guy that came out to set the home up and make it ready for us to move into. He also handled any follow-up issues as we reported them. You can tell that he really takes pride in his work and does his best to make the customer happy. Some days, he and his crew of one worked well into the night time hours to get the job done. We are still working on a few issues, but we do not feel like we have been put on a back burner. As soon as parts arrive, they have been prompt about returning to make the requested repairs. I will update this review if our opinion on this changes. Note that since we have only lived in the home a few weeks, this review is primarily based on customer service. So far we are overall pleased with the home, but there are a few, hopefully minor, issues that Clayton has committed to taking care of.Heres a little inside info for those considering a first time purchase. I realize that everyones experience will not be the same. Here s our process timeline:- Feb 10, 2021 Put 5% down to initiate our purchase order for the home. (Note: our home is 1800 sq ft double wide.- Over the next several weeks, we received and sent paperwork back and forth with several lenders before one was decided on.- Once we decided on a lender (Credit Human) we had to continuing submitting pay stubs and proof of employment. (This continued even after we signed the loan, put down our down payment, and continued until the home was delivered.)- Our property is on acreage. We worked on getting water and electricity to the property.- Had to wait for AEP to install a transformer.- May 12, 2021 our home was finally delivered to Claytons lot in Victoria.- May 26, 2021 we were able to sign final paperwork and make the down payment.- June 24, 2021 the home was delivered to our property. (Delay was caused from abundance of rain and unpassable roads.)- Still waiting on AEP for transformer- July 1, 2021 Miguel arrived and worked several days prepping the home and getting all he could without electricity.- Aug 16, 2021 Finally had transformer installed- Aug 27, 2021 AC installed- Aug 27-Aug 31 Miguels crew finished up all pre-move-in tasks and a small list of touch-ups we requested.- Sep 2 Home was cleaned (ehhh...Youll want to do your own cleaning.)- Sep 2 We were finally given the home tour and keys to the home. Please note that the biggest delay was waiting 4 months for AEP to install our transformer. Heavy rains also caused several delays.
Pre-Covid - we drove from DFW down to Victoria to select a home, picked out details to construct in home and provided earnest money. We locked in the price and we’re proceeding to get our property ready for new retirement home. Then Covid hit; housing construction stopped and everything was on hold.We were still waiting for the start of the home. We just sold our home in DFW area, ready to close in about 2 weeks and received a message from Clayton today. Clayton expressed that they could no longer honor our locked in price and advised that if we wanted to proceed, the price of the home was increased by almost $45K !!I spoke to the general manager and he could not do anything about it. I expressed my displeasure and our move of 400 miles to nowhere now !It was very disappointing and alarming that this company would not honor our original contract and gave us no advance notice…. Knowing we were moving down there and selling our existing home.Poor business …. No integrity …. Wouldn’t do business with them again !!!!
The lady was so uplifting and hopeful
Very nice sales rep cant wait to go back and actually get to make a purchase
I also wanted to say that the unparalleled quality will make me a customer for life.
Wow. what a great team and location. Amazing customer service.
We really wanted a clayton home but the sales person didnt seem to think we were serious because we were from out of state. So, we went to one of their competitors and put money down on a home that day. We closed on our new home a little over a month later. Guess they didnt need our $100k.
Bought our first home from here. The buying part was great. The quality of our modular home. Not so great. This is our third year living in this home. We noticed a humidohu issue in the two bathrooms. We took panels off the master tub only to find mold everywhere. We noticed where the piping came in from the floor is exposed. No insulation. So much humidity came up from it. Had to have the mold professionally done. 1000$. Low and behold. The guest bathroom has the exact same issue. Except now we have to have someone come redo our sheet rock. No insulation where the pipe comes in. So much mold. Back door wasnt shutting when we first got our home. Clayton sent contractors out. The put in new frame and door. Hurricane Harvey comes along and we noticed the floor getting soft. Went outside. Noticed big gap under treshold of door. Rain water goes in it. Now flooring in back area where washer and dryer are must be replaced. New home owner, so learning as we go. Unfortunately its the hard way. Didnt realize everything you need to look for in depth before you sign the dotted line. Now we know. Remember to look everywhere and make them do it right because it will cost you down the road. Only 3 years in. We have 20 year problems. Hope this helps.
