I’ve lived in Virginia for around a year now, I’ve given all the local shops a try but have never been around this shop. DOA has to be the best shop around; very professional, kind and knowledgeable staff makes you feel right at home. No price gouging here, very wide selection, great FFL transfer prices you can’t ask for much more.

Purchased a holosun green dot for my Glock, and a kel-tec ks7 from the store, and done two FFL transfers from PSA. The associate who helped me pick out the reflex optic for my Glock was extremely helpful and actually let me look through his personal carry gun reflex to make sure of the fit and personal preference that I had.They always have a wide selection on display. Mostly AR and AK variants with some higher end guns on the wall. They also do suppressors in partnership with silencer shop, and have a pretty good selection in there. I saw omega 9k cans and Q cans in there as well. They have a wall of parts, including the Q muzzle adapters, Magpul, and some other brands. A lot of the parts/accessories wall has been completely wiped out because of the current events though.Overall, Ive never had a problem with service at the shop, and I usually dress like I did in college in the late 2000s. Its not a shop that revels in the boomer/fudd asthetic like a lot of the other shops in the area, and I like that. It actually seems to have the youngest, but most knowledgeable crew in the area when it comes to modern firearms. As you can see from the photo I snapped while getting my FFL AK, they are selling guns, helping people, and having a good time while doing it. I wish the first store I went to the area was like this, instead of like the one down the street. Then I probably would have felt more comfortable and ended up buying more guns sooner.

My grandmother and aunt came in to purchase firearms and do the proper paperwork. My grandma is in her 70s, aunt in her 60s, they were recently the victims of a home invasion and wanted protection. Upon entering, my aunt trips on the doormat, and instantly is accused of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Then when they asked if they could fill out paperwork, were asked by staff if they were married. When my grandmother told them they were sisters, they proceeded to let my aunt fill out paperwork, but threatened my grandmother will a fine and phone call if she helped my aunt with paperwork. When my aunt was handed a firearm to check out, she was yelled at about proper gun safety when she was trying to get the feel, grip and weight of the firearm. My aunt was told paperwork process would take 10min to 2hrs, this was Monday, she has called 5 times and no one has gotten back to her. We are now at Wednesday. Take your business and money else where. These are the most rude and arrogant folks in the area.

Cerakoting Experience. On June 6, I brought in a 43X to be cerakoted for the girlfriends birthday. I asked about having some colorful wildflowers put on because my girl digs that. I showed a picture of something I saw online to give an idea of what I wanted. Was told the picture wasnt cerakoting but a different type of gun decoration. Asked if he could still do it, he replied he had never done something like that and seemed very apprehensive about it. I then moved on to a Batwoman cerakote I also found online and asked if he could do this. Was told, well ya see that is a unique style someone else did, and I dont want to copy someone elses stuff. I thought so change it up to be your own unique thing. I then asked Ok, well what can you do? Then I was showed some work he had done before. One of which was an amazing half batman half joker rifle. I Being a DC fan, I thought it was very cool. He showed me several guns he had done, so I settled for an uncomplicated rustic flag. I was told 4 to 6 weeks. Stopped by around the 22nd of July (approximately the 7th week it had been there and 2 weeks ago today). I was told it wasnt ready and that they would call me when it was done. I asked if they had my number and the guy at the register verified they did by reciting it to me. Today, at week 8.5, I go by to just pick it up and forget all about the cerakoting. The tech wasnt in today so they called him. The tech tells the guy helping me the 43X was ready for pick up 2 and a half weeks ago but when he tried to call me, my line was disconnected. I saw my phone number on the invoice that was taped to the 43X. It was my number with a note that said Bad #. I am assuming he misdialed once and never tried it again, because how can you honestly misdial a customers number waiting for a handgun and not try at least once more while double checking you match the number on the invoice to the number on your screen? You think a guy leaving his gun is going to give you a bad number? So, to catch up, the tech said it was ready two and a half weeks ago TODAY but it wasnt ready two weeks ago when I had stopped by? As for the work itself, I think it turned out pretty good but I should have followed my gut instinct when I first walked in. After asking for two things and getting the no can do, it seemed this guy either had no imagination, little experience, or little desire in giving me anything close to what I wanted. I just wanted the gf to have a nice looking birthday present, which I think it turned ok. It was the overall experience that sucked. Instead, I felt like I was given the run around rather than being treated as a valued customer who has several more handguns to be cerakoted. This place was recommended to me by a fellow military member and they have high reviews so I am guessing if you want to purchase a firearm, this is a decent place, but as for getting the cerakoting, my recommendation is to go somewhere else unless you want to deal with poor customer service. Oh, and no offer of any sort of discount for the delayed delivery, which is why the tech said it was ready 2 and a half weeks ago; must not have known I was in two weeks ago and was told it was not ready.

I wanted a pistol cerakoted and found DOA Arms via a Google search. It took a little longer than I expected, but the wait wasnt unreasonable by any means and they did solid work. I reached out to them a few times during the waiting period and they were responsive and professional. The price was also very reasonable.

Walked into this establishment about 3:30 on Nov 6, 2020. I was prepared to spend a substantial amount of money on accessories for my personal inventory. I highlight this as a statement of fact because its impossible to find anything I need except online.First take...I immediately observed a very clean and organized store.This made it easy to find whatever youre looking for in both accessories and firearms. I was impressed and pleasantly surprised by that.However, within 45 seconds to a minute of walking through the door, I realized I wasnt welcome there.Not one of the 5 or 6 employees acknowledged my presence, EXCEPT to eyeball me in what I interpreted as a suspicious and disdainful manner.I made eye contact with 3 separate employees who were not helping any other customers and they quickly averted their eyes to look at something else. To support my assessment, they happily greeted the 2 or 3 other customers who walked in after me, ask how they can help them, etc.I walked over to the counter and the one kinda tall guy asked me through his teeth if I need anything boss. Before I could finish saying no, he already moved on to doing nothing. I finally had enough and walked out. The heavier set guy sitting behind the counter bid me farewell without looking up from his phone and I happily witheld my response.Look, I get it, or maybe I dont. So let me attempt to fill in the blanks. I looked WAY different from everyone else in there. Felt it as strongly as if they said it out loud. My money will go somewhere else. If you look like me, try and find somewhere else to spend your money.Thats my experience there. Never going back. I hope you have a better interaction.

Had a great experience with DOA today. came in for a couple supplies, I called first they had what I needed and put it aside for me u til I made in. I went in and picked it up the gentlemen were very friendly and I was very satisfied with my experience will be back again... If you guys are reading thanks for the oops kit and Ill be back when I get paid for the brace!

2 sales reps lied about the gun I came into guy. Would not stand behind what they said. Had $2000 in cash ready to buy, but walked out because of piss poor customer service and management! Stay away! Spend your money where you are appreciated!

Being new to AR’s, I’ve found I’ve asked a lot of dumb questions with these guys but they were patient with my questions super nice to me and very knowledgeable when it comes to all things guns. Best shop in Hampton Roads in my book. Definitely cool dudes.

Lied multiple times! told me it was a different model. DOA is a great place to go for your firearms needs. The guys there are very knowledgeable with each having their own expertise in an area if another doesn’t quite know the answer. Always greeted promptly and kindly and the prices there can’t be beat. I brought in my SBR that was malfunctioning and Chris found the problem and remedied the issue promptly and haven’t had a problem since then. One of the great things about this establishment is that it is a no pressure sales tactic. You can come in, ask questions, check out the firearms, and leave without ever feeling pressured to purchase anything. The staff doesn’t portray the usual “firearms know everything stereotype” either. They will tell their honest unbiased opinion and if they can’t answer your question or can’t find a product you are looking for they will try every avenue at their disposal to not only find you the part, but also get you the best price or point you in the direction where you can. Any bad reviews are those to whom should gain more knowledge on firearms and are probably the ones that want to be fed on a silver spoon. The pricing is fair and most often times better, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and you’re treated kindly. What more can you ask from a firearms dealer? Definitely check them out!

Great staff, extremely helpful and reasonably priced!

Mixed review here, for many reasons. I used them to Cerakote a rifle of mine, which was done very well, I am impressed with the work and it turned out professionally. Also asked them to do a repair on the rifle. They looked at it, we talked about the type of repair even the details of what I was okay with and willing to accept and how they could possibly fix the problem. Dropped it in January for all the work. They did the Cerakote quickly and told me they were working on the repair of the stock, about 4 weeks total. Then a month later I called and he said they were working on it, it was harder than he thought but was getting it done and please give him a few more weeks. Called in another month, said he hadnt had a chance to get to it but could still do the repair. Called in another month and he said we cant fix it, its ready for pickup. Mind you I CALLED THEM every time for each step, not 1 call, no apology, no sorry sir, nothing. They had the rifle for 5 months and 2 weeks. I liked the guys, have ordered 2 cans from them, cerakote is perfect. Seems like the customer service needs some help. I am going to try them again but cautiously.

Great place and nice group of guys to deal with. Its really cool that they have their own line of firearm products Triton and offer lifetime warranty on their stuff. They are also a silencer kiosk location and anyone buying one should use the kiosk. Only reason they are not 5 star is just smaller shop and smaller inventory. That being said they can get most anything you want.

I needed a transfer done and I called them to see if they would send their FFL to the other gun store. George answered the phone and when I asked he simply and flatly said no. I had to jump through a bunch off hoops to get them to send it. Worst of all I was at work with no net access. George made it very difficult to do the transfer. I’m going elsewhere from now on.

Went in for parts of an AR-9 build and was asking around for ammo, after asking if they carried 5.56 subsonic, i was lied to and told the round does not exist, after telling the clerk that it does exist he showed little care in giving out false information. I then asked if they have AR-9 parts the clerk tried telling me to just buy AR-15 parts and substitute where need be... i would rather buy parts online and just wait then support a store that has little regard for customer support to say the least. I will not be taking my business here again.

I have been in countless time now to ask questions regarding anything about SBRs to precision long range shooting. No matter the question i always get treated fairly. I walk into DOA and its like walking in to see guys I have known my whole life and I have only been shopping with them for a year now. Everyone I send in cant believe they have never been there. I arrived at the store minutes to closing time. The price for a custom build was unreal. The salesperson assured me, the firearm would be ready the next day. I arrived at the time we discussed 3:30 P.M. and the gun was ready. They threw in a free case and magazine, to my surprise. This is the most customer service friendly gun store I’ve been to in the Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake area. Period. The item I wanted to purchase was out of stock so I ordered one from a different out of state store and used them as the receiving FFL. I used them for two reasons, they are extremely customer service friendly. When you’re in the store they make you feel comfortable and don’t talk down to you like your inferior because you have less knowledge. Two, they are by far the cheapest FFL price in the area. $20 for unlimited items as long as it’s in the same transaction!!! Superior Pawn charges $50 and McX charges $45 for example. From the time I went in to browse to the time I went in to pickup my item, they were very friendly and professional. The owner or manager does a great job ensuring the staff puts the customer first and makes us feel comfortable. Well done and will continue to purchase my toy needs from this store.They also have a Mil/LEO discount.

Item was not shipped until I called in to ask for a tracking number 7 days after the order was placed. Was not offered expedited shipping. Was not notified that order was flagged as fraud until I contacted the vendor 7 days after purchase to ask for shipping information.

Nicest guys in the area with the best prices (98% of the time) on firearms.I have purchased all of my firearms from them due to the way their staff engages me (always friendly, even when i ask newbie questions about ARs, i will get one in the near future lol) and made me feel like my opinions mattered and were important.They have a customer for life here.Like everyone else, i hate negative interactions at gun shops. I stumbled across DOA while doing comparison searches for an AR lower. The prices were unbeatable, so much so that I bought a lower and an upper at the same time. Plus with Free Shipping with over $100 spent, that saved me over $22 in shipping and FFL fees from certain sites. Great transaction, great prices, (again) fast response to emails and updating shipping statuses with tracking numbers. Would /will use again. Two thumbs up! Out of every gun store Ive been to in the hampton roads area and even beyond that, these are the nicest and most helpful guys Ive come across. They have no problem showing you any gun you want to see and they really take the time out of their day to really talk to you and help you find what you need. I purchased a new Glock and 17 Gen 4 from them and the next day I had noticed that the rear sight was warped, I assumed it was a factory error. I called them up and they were happy to replace it free of charge. You will not find more friendly and professional people in my opinion. I will definitely be coming back to do business with them, and I highly recommend them. 5 out of 5 stars.

Instead of leading multiple reviews for the numerous occasions I have frequented the shop, I will try to summarize in this one until my next visit. I have only good things to say about DOA Arms. The staff has been extremely helpful every time and have explained to me anything that I was unsure of or was confused about and has always been extremely polite. I know that I can be annoying and in spite of that, they remained very cordial. I have purchased items from them ranging from $4 to many times that amount. And they did not change their attitude from one to the other. I have utilized their services for multiple FFL transfers and they have never once made it sound like it was any trouble whatsoever to do that. They do not pressure you and seemed genuinely interested in what you have to say and wanting to assist you. I know that I must be leaving many things out, but I have to say that I have probably said enough. Five stars all the way or, for those who know what it means, they go to 11!

Went to DOA arms for the first time recently. Called to see if they had an optic in Stock Ive been looking for, which they did. Actually, the only place to have it in the area, thats the reason for the visit. I walk in and go to the optics display case, where there were 2 other customers standing as well. They were being helped by and employee. The employee greets me too. I walk around a little bit, because I didnt want to interrupt the employee and customers conversation. Meanwhile, you have 3 other guys behind the counters that I make eye contact with, but dont offer to help me. The shop wasnt busy or crowded mind you. So, Im standing in the middle waiting for assistance, I notice another customer come in to the shop, he stands right next to me, looking for help. We were standing there for a couple of minutes. None of us got help. He ended up just leaving, I was thinking the same, but I wanted that optic. I wish the normal ffl I went to had this optic, but like I said DOA was the only one to have it. I guess they dont like making money at this establishment. Its not hard to greet people, but maybe for them it is. Im not coming back. Ill order online from now on, if my ffl doesnt have it. Its a shame because I was born and raised in this area and I like to support my local shops. But, Im sorry first impressions are everything, and I will not be back.

Awesome people and an awesome atmosphere. They are also very knowledgeable.

Highly recommended. The staff is extremely friendly and you dont feel as if youre an outsider as you would in a lot of other shops.
