I was fortunate to stumble on this spot accidentally! I was trying to go to another bagel shop nearby but they werent opened at the time so Google pointed me to Bullfrog and Im so glad they did!! I had a bacon, egg and cheese bagel which was so delicious!! I also picked up a dozen bagels and cream cheese for my office and they were a huge hit!! All the bagels were fresh and tasted incredible!! Many of my coworkers commented on the wonderful flavor and quality of the bagels! My in store experience was smooth and easy, will DEFINITELY be back!!!
My favorite bagel place in DC. The salmon BLT hits the spot every time. Great variety of bagels also, I love the Asiago. Plus it’s such a cute shop and you can walk around the Eastern Market afterwards. Great way to start your weekend morning!
Love this place, the people and the bagels of course. The bagels feel less doughy and heavy than many others I’ve had. However, I wish Bullfrog had vegan cream cheese (like Bethesda Bagels). I’ve been going to Bethesda Bagels instead since I became vegan for this exact reason.
Absolutely disgusting and the longest wait for a subpar bagel sandwich. Sausage egg and cheese on everything. Bagel was soggy, sausage was cold, egg and cheese weren’t even on the bagel and it looked like it was stacked by someone who really had to go to the bathroom and couldn’t be bothered. I cannot understand why this place gets any hype… both locations are equally as bad. Buffalo and Bergen for WAY better bagel sandwiches
This bagel just didnt do it for me. Sure itll be crowded on a weekend in this neighborhood but better options are nearby.I ordered the egg cheese avocado and turkey. Bagel has a nice bite but there was too much sloppy egg white and the turkey had an odd aftertaste to it. I would recommend replacing it with a Turkey or vegetarian sausage like other bagel shops do. Honestly I would rather go to call your mother for phenomenal bagels and shmear.
Service was fast and friendly. Bagels were fresh and very tasty. I really like this spot.
Good bagels -- even better than some Ive had in NYC. Service is also lovely.
Pastrami egg & cheese on everything bagel... flavor bomb
Love going to this neighborhood bagel place! Blueberry bagels are great and all the sandwiches I have tried are divine. Online ordering is the way to go nowadays.
Great options (bagels, shmears) and sufficient staff to get your order quickly.
Im giving Bullfrog 3 stars because of how slow their service has become; if their service was even average, this would be a 5 star rating because of how good the bagel sandwiches are. Unfortunately, it has gotten to the point where, when I pre-order online, I now set my pickup time for 15 minutes before I know Im going to arrive. Except now even when I do that, I still have to wait 15 more minutes to get my order, meaning they are now sometimes 30 minutes late with my order. When I started going to Bullfrog in Summer 2020, they were always either on-time or even early with my pick-up orders. But starting in Winter 2021, and continuing into Spring, theyre running way behind now. Something changed after the New Year, and I hope Bullfrog can fix it, because this issue makes me less likely to order from there going forward.
Had issues with their app today, and they dont seem to understand what toasted dark means. Probably not their fault, because theres something lost when you dont order face-to-face.The bagels could be crispier on the outside, but they are perfectly chewy inside.Pretty good bagels for DC, though, and I appreciate that they are still taking strict precautions while other restaurants have become more cavalier.Bagels and app are 4-star, but the staff and general management is a 6.
Three times in a row did not toast my bagel. When I called to advise, was told every bagel is sliced and toasted unless told not to. Each of the three times my bagel was NOT sliced, so how can it be toasted. Didnt appreciate the poor customer service.
Really good pop up restaurant in the evening at this location. I’ll be back to try the hot pot. We ordered ala carte the dumplings, eggplant and coconut curry dish. Coconut curry and eggplant dishes were my favorite. The cocktails were also great. There was a line well before they open at 5:30 PM. Make sure you have a reservation for hot pot or come early.
I went on a Monday morning. Paid parking was plentiful and within a block. I had an everything bagel with walnut honey and its delicious. The price for me is just a tad high, but theres no denying you get what you pay for; its a packed bagel and its delicious.Suggestions:1- Avoid Sunday, paid parking is easier.2- Order online!3- My friend also ordered a canister of smoked salmon to take home, so you can do that, too.
OH. MY. GOD. This place is amazing. The bagels are soooo tasty and fresh and the sandwiches are very filling. We bought extra for our roadtrip back home and they hold up well too! Every thing we got was so delicious. My egg and swiss was perfect - not too greasy, cheese perfectly melted. The goat cheese and honey was heavenly - creamy and not too sweet and a little tangy. Well worth it every time.
My girlfriend and I have been to the Bullfrog Bagels on 7th street about 20 times over the course of a year, and everytime it is perfect. Because of Covid, weve been ordering online and picking up. Usually we walk to Lincoln Park and people watch as we shove our faces with delicious bagelwiches, but recently they reopened their tiny, yet comfortable, front patio. The bagels themselves are flavorful, crunchy, firm, and chewy, as a bagel should be. They are a little smaller than the NY and NJ bagels Ive sampled. I care about texture and taste foremost, but the medium size has become a big difference maker for me. It means the ratio of any bagelwich you might prefer is very balanced. Weve sampled every bagelwich, as one should, but our staple is the bacon, egg, and cheese with an addition of scallion cream cheese (because we cant resist the decadence). However, The Oriole Bagelwich is unbelievablly good. Turns out slow cooked brisket and a quality bagel are a match made in heaven.Overall, this is an easy 5 star review. I recommend it to anyone looking for the DC bagel experience.
Insects are flying on and around the bagels that on the counter displayed.
Love bullfrog bagel. I usually go to the bagel truck in Tenleytown.
Inconsistent. When the bagels are fresh, they are truly wonderful. But most of the time, you can tell theyve been sitting out for awhile and they can be tough to chew. Service is truly hit or miss, too.For an example of the inconsistency, heres my everything bagel from this morning, which hardly had any toppings, and the toppings it did have were charred so badly it ruined the flavor of the bagel. It wasnt a one-off occurrence, this happens rather frequently.
My go to place when I need something quick, affordable, and delicious in Eastern Market. If they had better contactless options Id be here daily!
Awesome quality bagels that are above quality compared to grocery store bagels!
Great bagels and friendly, quick serviced
A must visit. Smoked Salmon Bagel is just blissful..
First time there, it was good but seemed overpriced. I’d be interested in returning when service is back to normal (we pre ordered for pick up) They did not include a knife for the cream cheese, but that could have been my fault for not paying attention. The portion of cream cheese was large and the bagel was warm.
Enjoyed the an everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. Order online and was ready when I picked up.
Worst bagels I’ve had in DC so far, workers got an attitude too. Avoid this place
My food literally was not done at all my first time ordering here off Postmates my salmon was raw I can’t believe it I would never eat here again or place any order
A little expensive but very tasty
Great bagel shop! Love the honey walnut cream cheese.
Tastes like Einstein Brothers.
This place is fire. Seems they make their own condiments/meats and you can taste the difference. Start with an Oriole but everything is good. They now have hundreds of dollars from me since the quarantine started (wfh), and I go almost every lunch.
It’s delicious every time! Love them.
Its.... okay, at best. The bagels are a little unimpressive, but they arent bad. Just a little expensive for what you actually get.
Bagels are good but the service is horrendous. Prepare to wait an additional fifteen minutes after your order time.
Inventive menu. This is not Grandpas bagel shop.
One of the most delicious bagel in DC area. Tried smoked salmon and egg. It was awesome. Thank you guys
Absolutely phenomenal meat ratio. Best meat allocation in the bagel business.
This has to be one of my favorite bagel places in DC as it stands currently. My everything bagel was superb. Great taste and they didnt skimp on the seasoning. A little hard on the outside, and soft on the inside. The honey walnut smear was fantastic. This place was a little out of the way for me, but when I ever want a great bagel again, Id make the drive.
Super good you ask and they give! Local fresh and filling a much needed nich. I only wish they were open earlier like 6am
Bullfrog Bagels never disappoints! I like to come here on weekday mornings before work, when there isnt a line out the door. Since opening this location, theyve done a great job managing the crowds by introducing a fast lane for people who just want spreads, and by keeping an efficient production line in the kitchen. Dont miss the lox cream cheese spread!
I really wanted to like Bullfrog more than I did. The bagels are pretty good, but theyre kind of expensive, the service is often slow, and the cashiers are often gruff. Ordering pickup during the pandemic has been a disaster, but theyre trying their best, I guess.
Literally just walked out of here....asked for a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel with butter (and repeated it) guess the cashier did not hear me say butter....once I got my plain bagel I asked for butter and at that time the cashier rudely said she asked me if I wanted it toasted and I said yes and if I wanted butter it would be a dollar something more. That’s fine if she didn’t hear me but don’t be rude and act like it’s my fault when I’m the customer. Anyway....bad vibe and won’t be going there again.
Food good. Service bad. The bagels are great but I wouldnt describe the staff as friendly. Rude sometimes but never friendly. The system there is kind of chaotic. They ask you to stand over by the door away from the counter when waiting for the food but barely speak your name when the bagel is ready. If you dont hear your name called theyll just let your bagel sit and get cold.
Super friendly bagel shop. Seems to be popular with the locals. Get a bagel with their homemade cream cheese. I loved the everything bagel (toasted) with salmon cream cheese. Sounds gross, but give it a try!
Food is actually disappointing and overpriced. My bagel didnt even taste fresh. I wouldnt waste your time with this place. There are definitely better options in the area.
They have milk in their bagels. So if you get any meat on it its not kosher.3 stars because my husband likes them. Im allergic to milk and every time Ive gone theyve been out of the one thing that doesnt have milk in it (the baily?/flat bagel). So people who keep kosher, have allergies, or are vegan, be careful.
Just horrible service from the staff. Rude. Not recommended. Also bagels didn’t have any flavor. Go to Einstein’s Bagels if you want real food without bad attitude. I dislike the bagels so much that I’m going to boycott them.
Not my favorite bagel in DC but if Im craving a bagel and Im in the area, Ill for sure visit.
Good bagels can’t lie but I’m no bagel expert. Just a simple everything with schmear guy.
Amazing bagels - really delicious but there is no where to sit. the place is very crowded and I always have to eat bagels on the sidewalk. The staff at the connected bar is extremely rude and does not allow Bullfrog customers to sit in the morning even thought the many chairs and tables are unused.
Good bagel, but was getting screamed at while standing in line for outdoor pickup. Rude staff needs to get their act together.
Best bagels Ive ever had! Definitely puts Bethesda Bagels to shame
Good bagels. Lots of options and creams to choose from. Quick service. Seating in the second floor and free water. Only wished they put a little more cream cheese on the bagel. But overall it was great
Small place, hard to see from the street, but it was probably the best bacon, cheese, egg bagel sandwich. Bagel was a normal bagel to be honest, but the eggs were great! Nice spot. Sit outside and eat something.
Really delicious bagels and the service is great. The space is pretty tight and the line can run out the door. Its pretty much a guarantee that youll be jammed up against someone while waiting on your order. Menu items do get sold out pretty quickly, so be prepared to make a U-Turn if theyre out of your bagel, or if theyve closed early. But the bagels are that good that they make the wait worth it...
Always a good bagel. Good friendly service.
Better than Bethesda bagels, way better than Einstein bagels, only marginally better than Call Your Mother bagels. Try their pastrami.
Had sausage egg bagel and my sister had salmon avacodo bagel and we split it. They were awesome...
Completely overrated. DC - you’re better off buying some bagels at Trader Joe’s and making your Sammy at home. The bagel quality won’t be much worse, and the fixings will likely be better!
A great neighborhood spot—would be 5 stars if half the staff weren’t so rude (the other half are hard working and great!)
Being a native New Yorker and moving down to the district, it was hard to find a reputable bagel place down here. Low and behold, Bullfrog Bagels has got that same delicious, chewy, soft and tasty bagel that takes me back to New York. You guys rock! Best bagels in the District!
The very best bagels! Treated my hubby todayto a pastrami and cheddar and now hes a fan as well. 😁
The bagels are good -- better than anywhere else on Capitol Hill. They were out of sesame seed bagels which was disappointing and the service was pretty shoddy. Still, the best bagels in DC are at Bethesda Bagels. I was hoping this place would give them a run for their money, but nope. Net takeaway: if you live in the area, go for it. Not worth traveling for.
Bagels were excellent, really try the pastrami, egg and cheese. Star gets taken off because they were out of cinnamon raisin bagels. Open till 4:30, just make some more...
We were there at 9:00 AM on a Saturday before the rush of hung over brunching hipsters. Nobody else in the place, but we received the soup Nazi treatment like there was a long line. For $8.50 you get what could only be called a dusting of salmon with your bagel. The tomatoes used were super fresh and delicious though. The actual bagels are pretty good, and you can tell they put a lot of time into them.
Ordered the smoked salmon bagel. Please be careful consuming. I bit into two bones. I posted pictures of them on this site. Noticed lots of kids there so please be careful. Also, why Im giving this place 1 star:1. Its overpriced to exclude certain clientele.2. My bagel bit me back and it was cold.3. They offer customers (their preferred clienteles) two opportunities to tip; when using a CC and the Tip Bucket. This, despite having to stand in a line for a long time to order.4. They only offer whole milk and half & half for the coffee. If you want 2% or skim milk, you have to pay for it.5. The coffee smelled like rodents live near or on it before being brewed.I normally dont leave reviews but I was compelled to do so after biting into the salmon bone and nearly choking. I dont want kids, or anyone, to choke on the salmon bagel. And, the coffee smell grossed me out, and concerned me.
Crazy tasty bagels. Charming location. Creative ideas for what can be done with a bagel. I’d say that this place is definitely worth checking out.
Great bagels! Price around average for DC. People watch from the upstairs balcony if you can.
Really tasty bagels although I was surprised by the limited amount of sweet offerings (was hoping for PBJ but no!) and the staff could have been friendlier but great breakfast option
This is a great place! Get there as early as you can manage.
Hot everything bagel with bacon egg and cheese. Has up stairs and out door seating.
Ive just finished an Avocado, fried egg and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel 😋.It was affordable, considering, I wouldve paid more for this kind of sandwich elsewhere. Thanks to the cashiers for being so helpful 🙌🏼. Youve made my morning when you helped specifically withthe accommodation of my breakfast. I didnt mention that it really was very fast service. I maybe spent under 4min wait for the bagel to be prepared. It was all made FRESH! You cant beat that!
Fresh and generous servings. Metered parking right out front if you can snag a spot. Otherwise get a validated spot at Trader Joes.
Hard to spot if youre just walking down the street, but definitely dont miss this bagel shop, especially if youre looking for a good breakfast! I enjoy their egg, sausage, and cheese bagelwich, which has actual sausage slices on it, not just your typical sausage patty thing. As other reviews have remarked, their eggs are spot on. Also, dont miss the lovely little eating area upstairs, particularly if you can snag a spot on the balcony.
They still cant figure out the takeout order process. No one likes to wait 10-15 minutes in line for something theyve been told is ready. Figure it out...
The best bagels ever! This place has ruined me, no other bagels taste good after coming here. The various cream cheeses and sandwiches are great too!
Bagels galore. A charming breakfast joint indeed. Grab and go and enjoy eastern market. Great selection of cream cheeses. Coming back for the Lox bagel!
They forgot items on my order and no one answers the phone when I called to try and get it sorted out. Food was disappointing customer service is even worse
Love the fresh bagels! Fast service! Interaction with the employees! We went Saturday morning and came back on Sunday morning!! I create my own food cravings and they deliver every singleTime!
This place is great! The bagels are always fresh, and the sandwiches are on point. Especially enjoy a bagel with bacon, egg, avacado, and cheese. If there is a line, just wait; its worth it.
Delicious turkey, avocado, egg, and cheese bagel. Turkey was honey smoked and really tasty. Nitro brew coffee 👍🏻
Food was not fresh, bagel tasted stale, probably because delivery was 30 minutes late even tho I paid for premium delivery. On top of that they forgot a coffee
Got there about 11am on Wed. Staff not welcoming at all. Acted like it was big imposition to get me salt and pepper. Bagels were good. Coffee was not at all. Disappointed after all the good ratings.
My bagel sandwich here was decent, but it took an ungodly long time for them to make it. Id recommend ordering ahead and. Giving yourself 20 minutes of lead time. Not sure what causes their massive slowdowns but hopefully they can fix it.
BEST BAGELS on the East Coast!!!(Yeah, I know what I just said. If you’re #TeamNYC or #TeamMontreal, I dare you to come down and try these. I’ve tried yours...)
