First off, I want to point out that this business is 100% black owned, which is amazing and it personally makes me happy to see them thriving. Secondly, this goes for my coffee connoisseurs: They’re a Counter Culture partner, which means that they serve specialty coffee that is responsibly and ethically sourced. Counter culture farmers get paid fair wages and the company does its best to continue improving their relationship in a symbiotic manner, so that both sides benefit equally. Now that I’ve highlighted the two aspects that I consider most important about this business I would like to go into detail about their operations. Staff is friendly, accommodating, and quick. They are a fully vegan-vegetarian establishment, which makes my lactose intolerant heart pretty happy. On top of everything, they’re doing an amazing job at following health code and social distancing guidelines specific to the pandemic. Staff is wearing gloves, masks, and constantly disinfecting areas. I had a very positive first experience with them and will keep coming back for more.
LOVE this spot... Unique popsicle flavors, great coffee and tea options... I miss when I would stop here after playing football at the field across the street and felt like I deserved such a treat...
I just discovered Pleasant Pops during Covid, and I’m so glad I did! The Black-owned business is full of friendly staff, and they are doing a great job at taking precautions for the pandemic. They have a little station set up where you can order at the front door, so you don’t actually have to go inside. Staff wore masks, and everything looked sanitary. I loved how many vegan/vegetarian options there were. I’ve been twice and got some variation of chai tea both times— it’s some of the best I’ve had in DC. The prices are reasonable for the area. It’s also a short walk from Meridian Hill park, so it’s great opportunity to grab some coffee and take a stroll through the park. I highly recommend!
Pleasant Pops is amazing. Favorite coffee shop in DC. Their lavender lattes are to die for (iced or hot)
RIP to this great black owned business. Victims of landlords raising rent during the pandemic. Rumor has it they might open in a new location though.
My wife and I just discovered this place. We got coffees and they were great! We will definitely keep coming back so we can try everything on the menu.
No false advertising here, they sell pops and they are indeed pleasant. Also sell bags of Counter Culture coffee.
The popsicles here were pretty refreshing... Tried the strawberry Ginger lemonade and the Mexican chocolate... Sweet but not overpowering...exactly what I was look long for this particular Summer evening ❣️
Always a great place to get a popsicle dairy or non dairy. Fresh salads and helpful staff.
The customer service was outstanding! I highly recommend this place not just for my delicious strawberry ginger lemonade popsicle but also for the friendly and warm staff.
Great, neighborhood spot. Excellent salads and sandwiches. Really like the London Fog (earl grey tea with vanilla syrup). The popsicles are unique and delicious. They also carry a few locally sourced groceries and specialty food items. Friendly service, Wi-Fi, and clean restrooms. The loyalty card is a good deal (especially when maximized correctly). Also, plenty of outlets to plug in if youre working. Drawbacks: Often crowded. Also, dont bother with the hot chocolate pops in the winter-- cool concept, but takes forever and you just end up with murky looking milk with a slight chocolate aftertaste :-p
I love stopping at Pleasant Pops and have been going for about a year. They have excellent Counter Culture coffee and service. I worked from Pleasant Pops pretty regularly when I was using two crutches and recovering from surgery and everyone at Pleasant Pops was incredible. They brought my coffee and food order over to me so I didnt need to get up and struggle to carry it. This was totally unprompted and so kind. I appreciated it so much.I also recently ordered food and it took slightly longer than usual — but by no means an excessive amount of time. I didnt complain or ask about it, but one of the employees came over and gave me a card for a free drink for the inconvenience. They dont have wifi on the weekends, but during the week the wifi is excellent.
The pops here are refreshing, unique, and delicious. The menus changes seasonally so everything is fresh. The staff are always pretty friendly though it can get a bit backed up if there are too many customers. Also, Im a big fan of the avocado toast for breakfast.
Pretty solid coffee, tea joint. Fast, tasty, and solid pricing.
Neighborhood joint that is sooo good. Hibiscus popsicle was like eating summer in ice form. Will be returning as soon as I can. Found them through FeedtheMalik while trying to support black owned business in DC and after reading their story I knew I’d be back again and again!
Great place, great vibe and atmosphere. I had the spicy avacado toast which was a good breakfast item. The berry bowl is wonderful as well. Ill definitely have to check out their pops if I get a chance.Would definitely recommend this place.
Always good food - from fresh farm milk to soups and sandwiches, not to mention locally made cookies, pies, quiches, and pickles. And, of course, the delicious and inventive popsicle flavors. Mexican chocolate is a favorite of mine. The staff is really great. Also, they make croissants every morning on site. SO GOOD.
The pops here are truly pleasant. They have a variety of flavors and several vegan options. They even have pup pops so your dog can enjoy a treat with you! I havent tried their bowls yet, but they looks tasty!
Adams Morgan is such a great neighborhood and Pleasant Pops Farmhouse just adds to it. Who would have thought that a Popsicle could be so good. Ok they are not the $1 ones you buy in the deli but more like $3. The only problem with this place is that their lattes are so amazing. Can I get a hot drink and a Popsicle? In any case a great and fantastic place to hang out and enjoy Adams Morgan whether you are sucking on a Popsicle or drinking a latte.
Great little shop I discovered this week. Had their cold brew, luna cookie, and bought some banana bread for later. Delicious and they have a nice atmosphere inside with great service. Will come again!
Really great spot, especially when it’s warm enough to sit outside on their benches and bring your pup (they have “puppy Pop’s!”).Good coffee and breakfast selection. The smoothie bowl is delicious. Only reason I give them 4 instead of 5 stars: they don’t serve breakfast all day.
Coffee, salads, sandwiches... great casual spot for indoor or outdoor perching. I actually appreciate the fact that its not designed for laptop teleworkers to set up shop for days at a time - you can actually get a spot to sit most days. I do wish theyd stuck with baked goods from BakeHouse (best scones ever) but Ill survive.
Awesome breakfast foods. Avacado toast is awesome. Great coffee and tea options. Vegan options as well. Totally recommend it.
A pleasant cafe tucked into a side street smack dab between Dupont Circle and Adams-Morgan. Pleasant Pops specialize in locally-sourced frozen fruit pops, but the cafe offers coffee and other snacks.A great place for a quick snack or to work for a few hours in this part of DC.
Went for breakfast, decent egg sandwich. Got the iced coffee slushy (what a cool idea!), but it was overwhelmingly sweet, I ended up tossing it after just a couple of sips.
Great spot to work or bring kids for a snack. The small play area for little ones is a huge bonus!
Server was awesome and the frozen pops were out of this world!
I visited the location downtown and it was very nice! The pops are great- Ive had the New Orleans Iced Coffee and the Strawberry Ginger Lemonade. Also I loved their Opal Basil Lemonade-perfect for a hot day. The tables outside are very nice and the umbrellas provide great shade.
Cozy spot to get work done on your laptop. While eating healthy food, no less! Its one of my favorite places in town!
Pops are good. Coffee is good. Espresso based drinks tend to be overwhelmed by frothy milk rather than satisfying.Local eggs and milk are sold in dozens and gallons for less than $5 a piece. Great deal.
This place is great: the popsicles deservedly get a lot of attention, but the drinks and bowls and avocado toast and chia pudding are seriously some of the best in the neighborhood food is fast and theres always plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Its on the pricier side, but as a treat its a fantastic destination.
I just go for the lattes and croissants.... AMAZING. Ive had their salads and soups before and they are quite good. Not very fond of their sandwiches... they dont toast their breads. FYI they will if you want. But trust me on the croissants and lattes.
This place should be called anything but pleasant. The staff is incredibly rude and unfriendly. My husband and I live in the neighborhood and have given this place numerous chances but every time we go, we are so disappointed with the horrible service, never feel welcome here.
A terrific coffee spot with good pastries and pops. Get the punch card if you plan on getting coffee here frequently. Also their croissants are legit, especially in the morning when warm.
Cute place that attracts a hipster, laptop toting crowd and babies and dogs on the street patio. Good healthy food. Coffee drinks are OK. Food takes forever so don’t go there and be in a hurry. People swear by the pops but I can’t warm up to anything but gelato.
Love this place. Inventive ice pop flavors, good selection of coffee and tea. Check it out!
The Vegan Mexican Chocolate pop is amazing! The new rice bowls are great! Lots of vegan and gluten free options for lunch.
Stop by regularly. love the quinoa bowls for lunch, avocado toast (add egg) for breakfast, and a pop when walking the dogs. on nice days hanging at the outside benches with the dogs is great.
Tasty food and good coffee, but more of a family place
Hands down, this is my favorite coffee shop in Washington, D.C. The coffee tastes amazing, the food changes with the season, but is always fantastic, and the pops are a tasty treat! The best part is that if you have a dog, they sell puppy pops for one dollar! You can even pick up a few locally-produced items, but they tend to (understandably) run a little high in price.Note: All the meals here are vegetarian, which is great for me, but might be disappointing for those meat lovers.
Pleasant pops is a nice addition to the neighborhood. Their soups, sandwiches, and salads are lovely, and they make a nice cup of coffee. The indoor seating is a bit limited but I love the picnic tables outside.
One of our favorite local spots. Pops are delicious, good coffee and baked goods, locally run, dog and kid friendly, and outdoor seating too.
Love this place! Excellent popsicles and a range of other treats (including gluten free cookies...) Outdoor seating is great too
Great lunch bowls, kids love the small play area.
Love there pops! Take the whole family or have a date night. Either way, you cant go wrong here and the staff is really nice!
Got a croissant and the birthday cake cookies after I was told after 8, they can’t make me anything, and they were both stale. The staff were incredibly rude and after giving me a regular slushy, when I had asked for a coffee one, they washed the plastic cup and used it again.
Great home made popsicles. Buy a 4-pack and get a $1 off for $11. Neat place as they have food options as well.
Amazing unique ice pop flavor combinations.
Just, amazing. Locally sourced ingredients make up the astoundingly delicious popsicles here. The coffee is also excellent, and the farmstand is very well stocked for being as small as it is. A true neighborhood gem, where you can pick up breakfast, lunch, dinner to take home, or just a quick snack. Beware though, it gets pretty packed because its also super adorable and in a charming section of Florida ave.
Nice quiet place for late night, low calorie snack. i think? ...definitely, maybe.
Terrific food, service, and atmosphere. Great on any warm day to get popsicles, and the soups/sandwiches and other items are great for non-sunny weather too.I really appreciate all the vegan items and labeling. Walking to this place is a nice way to show out-of-towners part of DC and get some great food and drinks.
The staff is wonderful and the flavors they offer are delicious! Definitely a fun place for a quick summer snack.
Good homemade ice cream service was great
Nice coffee spot for a laid-back afternoon or early morning coffee pick-up. Customer service requires improvement.
The coconut popsicle is a heckin dream! And the avacado toast is yummy too.
Lucky I gave two starts because its close to work but its always a problem when I go here young lady so rude so much attitude I tried to support but will give my money where appreciated
Great fresh food and popsicles. Just wish there were better coffee options here.
Delicious flavors not usually found
Such a cute little concept. Give it a shot in your in the area.
Good place to bring your laptop and have a tasty drink or popsicle
Great coffee and pops -- I love the NOLA Iced Coffee and the Strawberry Lemonade!
Been coming here for years! Love the popsicles and great staff
Pops are great. Coffee is OK, egg sandwich is just heated after being frozen.
Very friendly place to eat and healthy too
Really pleasant local spot, with its own charm and a fine espresso. Will be back to try the overly healthy sounding ice pops
Good, although they could use a few more pop flavors at a time.
I tried this truck out at the Truckeroo festival and the pops were amazing. i got the summer peach and it tasted like i was eating the freshest peach picked right off the tree. my gf got the sweet tea which was also amazing, id compare the flavor to the Arizona Ice Tea cans but fresher tasting.the truck also used the Square credit card system which made payment easy
A gear local place. Their popsicles are allergen friendly. Nice staff and at the DuPont and WH farmers markets.
Delicious iced coffee, kombucha, popsicles and all sandwiches and salads! Yum!
At first, I was disappointed. They no longer have mexican hot chocolate-- the reason I went there. Their home-made chai latte only had a tint of flavour. The mozarella sandwich was alright, I suppose. They could at least use better mozarella. The chonga cream popsicle, for my taste, was too sweet-- more ice than cream. But then I discovered the to-die-for banana bread. And the Trickling Springs organic milk. And how good their hot chocolate is. That, plus the nice atmosphere to work, and the friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating, makes it a nice place to work and enjoy.
Its always nice. Never a bad experience.
Tasty pops but staff arent all that friendly. Coffee is meh.
Stopped in Saturday at 1p.m. thinking Id grab a coffee and late lunch and do an hours worth of work. They dont offer Wi-Fi until 4 p.m....or some b.s. the woman rattled off to me, so had to leave. Thought Id support a local business but they just arent reliable and able to keep up. If youre a busy professional stick to Starbucks and Panera and you wont ever have to worry about stuff like that.
Good pops and we like farm fresh milk
Mazzer + la marzocco + staff = excellent cappuccino with nice latte artalso top quality baguette sandwich
Strawberry Ginger and Mexican Chocolate are the best!
Love their salads. And their pops. Yum.
Great for dessert, good for sandwiches, and a nice place to hang with a friend.
Pleasant Pops is an absolutely charming and relaxing place to grab a cup of coffee, house-made chai, and/or one of there fantastic little popsicles! I got a dirty chai latte (chai with a shot of espresso) and the chongos pop (Mexican sweet cream with cinnamon) and both were delicious! My friend got the cardamom coconut pop (I wasnt as big of a fan of that, but I also dont really like coconut). Pleasant Pops also has sandwiches and vegan options as well. They are a well lit place to work on your laptop too (they have free wifi.) It can get a little tight space-wise if its too cold or rainy to sit outside. The Adams Morgan neighborhood is also super charming and there are always a ton of dogs that pass by with their humans on the way to the park or doggy day care, which is a major plus in my book! Definitely go check these guys out! (They also sell pleasant pops at the Dupont Farmers Market most Sundays).
I remember when this place first opened up in my neighborhood a while back. I had heard of the food truck and knew they had popsicles, so I checked them out. What I found was a local market selling milk, eggs, and basic necessities. On top of that, they have amazing coffees, specifically the best vanilla latte in the city, and fresh bakes pastries every morning. They also give you free wi-fi which is utilized by many as seen every time in here. You really cant go wrong with the food or drink here, stop by and pick up something for a walk around the city, or grab a puppy popsicle for your dog. This is a great constant in the neighborhood that I hope never leaves.
I backed this place on Kickstarter, so Ive been here a handful of times to claim the 5 Pops that came with my Kickstarter donation. I usually stick to the fruit flavors, because I really love fruit! Ive tried many of the Pops flavors, and the only one I didnt really care for was the Honeycrisp Apple. It literally tasted like frozen applesauce and had an off texture to it.I never order just the Pops while Im here. I also love the caprese sandwiches.
Terrific coffee and pops and great challah on Fridays...
Decent cappuccino & scones. Croissants are not exceptional as certain reviews say (not European at all)
Lots of vegan options and yummy flavors.
What a great little spot! Pleasant Pops is so much more than just, well, pleasant pops. Its a quirky, well-lit, indie space with a surprisingly decent amount of seating for its size, always full of folks working on laptops or lunching with friends. In addition to their signature ice pops, which comes in dozens of unique flavors, they also serve vegetarian food, including a really stellar Romesco & Roasted Cauliflower Sandwich (house-made romesco sauce, roasted cauliflower, & pickled red onions on ciabatta). Everything is pretty clearly listed in terms of whats vegan, gluten-free, contains dairy, etc., which makes it easy to find something off their menu to suit your palate & your dietary needs. All of their ingredients seem to be locally sourced, with a list of their suppliers available online & in store (including Capital Kombucha, Souper Girl, Blind Dog Bakery, Gordys Pickle Jar, & other area faves). They also have a small pantry/cooler of locally made products for sale, both edible & otherwise (snacks, sides, stationery, to name a few). Another thing I dig about Pleasant Pops is that theyre a great neighbor, participating in lots of local events, including the Dupont Farmers Market & fundraisers for various causes. Youll often see them listed as a sponsor of neighborhood happenings & festivals. I like to support places that support their local community, & Pleasant Pops definitely fits the bill.
Excellent food beyond just pops!
Nice cheap organic food. A little more expensive version of a soup and sandwich place.
Great food And cozy environment
They have the best popsicles in the world!
Calling these frozen sugar bombs Mexican is an insult to real, natural paletas from Mexico. Shame.
Great tasting popsicles
I was surprised. This place is actually really good!!!
Popsicles and coffee are albeit a bit pricey
Delicious and tasty vegan options.
Good service. Healthy choices.
Love this store for some great coffee
