Best coffee spot on U st! I live fairly close to this place and love stopping in for an iced oat milk latte. The employees are super friendly and are hustling behind the coffee bar. The coffee is beyond delicious and it’s a regular stop for me. Would recommend trying out if you’re in the neighborhood.
Love this neighbourhoods coffee spot. Super friendly baristas and nice coffee! Only suggestion: please consider alternatives to plastic cups for people who would like to have their coffee on the patio. The amount of plastic, as seen in the overfilled garbage bins outside, is somewhat concerning.
I had the turmeric latte and it was great! I also got a slice of zucchini bread. Wish there was more seating available! But I really appreciate how theyve handled ordering during covid with the pickup window outside.
Love the coffee but a few issues. Inside seating still isn’t open and there are not enough tables outside for the volume of customers.I consistently have to wait at least 30 minutes for a table which is ridiculous. It would be great if they added more tables outside or instituted a 45 minute limit for laptops which they used to have a year ago. Sometimes when I come there are all tables occupied by folks working outside there for hours.
This is the only coffee shop that I like visiting often. The staff was so welcoming and the prices for coffee are amazing. There is Wifi and lovely seating. It is a great coffee shop to meet new people. This place is so amazing!
This place manages to be unpretentious even though that seems to be a must for all the other coffee shops in town. Staff is super nice, coffee and pastries top notch. It’s Covid safe without being mean about it. Props for that.
Fantastic coffee at dirt cheap prices! The drip coffee was only $2.50 and was really delicious. Our friend got the cold brew and raved about it for hours. It has a great atmosphere as well, very cozy with the converted old house, and the staff were fast and friendly. 100% recommend.
Great service!! Great coffee, what more can you ask for? I had the Cortado and it hit the spot!!Outdoor seating, which wasnt fun at it was raining outside, so all of the seats were wet. Could benefit from more big patio umbrellas.
Really nice staff. Coffee was pretty good. I had the cortado.
Great service and they even gave me an extra coffee for the wait. It was well worth the wait (I didn’t wait that long and totally understood because they were WORKING!!) and I appreciated the thought! I will be back next time I’m in DC :)
Wet outside, no seating inside, yet. I understand about the need for COVID precautions, but I had to move on to another coffee shop where I could sit down to enjoy my breakfast and latte.
I liked this Coffee Shop because they have a welcoming and friendly staff. And I really loved their coffees!
Great neighborhood location with patio out front. Pastrys were delicious and I highly recommend the Honey Badger
2 stars because you think your loyal customers would not see you changed 2.50 small drip c to 2.73. This is not fair. Please change it back.
I got the single origin espresso from Ethiopia . Decent pull - not very complex or much depth but still high quality . Maybe I’ll try the house blend next time . Had to buy a topo Chico because there was no soda water and the employees were not friendly - but I only rate the quality and taste of the actual espresso.
Local coffee is always better than chain coffee. While the place was very busy during my visit, the staff was super friendly. Did not have some of the traditional flavors for latte but that did force me to try something new so I tried the cardamon latte; Id recommend it for something new. Not a lot of room to sit inside and parking in the street is not the easiest thing to find. If you dont mind the parking struggle (at least on this particular Saturday morning) then you should visit.
Good coffee. Safety measures are still implemented. Good job!
Friendly folks, great coffee (both espresso and otherwise), decidedly better than Wydown at least on this occasion, less bougie, more reasonable prices, and more tasty.
Very disappointed with the service. Clearly the owner doesnt care about their guests:1. Pastries were cold, they didnt even preheat them!2. We asked for oat milk and got soy on one coffee and whole milk on a second order (Im lactose intolerant)3. It was raining, they told us to go outside and wait for our order, there were no umbrellas outside4. We asked if they have gluten free options, the lady rudely responded No!
One of the nicest coffee shop experiences I’ve had. It was a chilly but sunny afternoon, and I got to sit in the outside seating area with my flat white. It was so nice to work under the sun with nice coffee. Parents started to pick their children up from the elementary school across the street, which was also a sweet scene to witness. The baristas were very nice, genuine, and welcoming. I would definitely visit another time.GREAT FOR WORKING, COFFEE, RELAXING, ENJOYING A BOOK.Nicely priced, nice music, WiFi a little waacky, but overall a five!!
I do love to visit this coffee shop for my morning coffee, and occasionally Id be back for another one. There have always been a lot of buyers in this store. The service was polite, courteous and simple. Quite a beautiful feeling, not at all pretentious, and there was a sensation that you should only sit down and watch the world go by.
After brunch one Sunday my boyfriend and I didnt want to head home just yet and decided to look for a legit coffee shop near U St. We found this one on Yelp with good reviews. It did not disappoint! We love cappuccino and theirs was fantastic. Very smooth and just the right amount of foam. We will seek this shop out again when we come into the city. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and we sat in the big bay window right in front. It was quite busy and popular on a Sunday afternoon so be ready to stand in line and grab your seat!
By far, this is the best coffee in the area!! Ive had Latte and Cortado coffee here and both were excellent with a unique smooth taste. Besides the coffee, the pastry is baked with love (try the Kouign-Amann and youll know what Im talking about). Id definitely come back again and again and again. Thank you The Coffee Bar for your excellent coffee, service, and pastry!
Great staff - friendly/efficient. Pleasant outdoor seating.
Ordered a coffee expecting to be able to use the restrooms, was told not for public. Education the staff a patron is not the public might be the issue here. Then told its for staff only. I then advised the staff member I had a chronic condition in which it is imperative I use their facility and still refused. I had to cancel my coffee and race 3 blocks to trader joes. What an absolute joke of a place this is.
Great little coffee spot! Cant believe Ive missed this one before. Nice space outside.
This coffee shop was recommended to me by some friends when I moved to the neighborhood. Im glad they did, because I probably wouldnt have come across it on my own. Set off of the main roads and in a converted house, this cafe is great. They have patio seating and ordering inside, but they also have a walkup window. You can order online, but as a heads-up, they wont make your drinks til youre at the window (so theyll be fresh) but it wont just be a walkup and go.Anyways, any place that makes a dirty chai this well is good in my book.Ps. If you like rich drinks, the honey badger is a great way to start a Sunday
Delicious TCB cold brew and cute cozy ambiance
Local spot for great service drinks and snacks. Nice outdoor seating, staple of the area. Prices are fine for DC and everyone wears a mask. Highly recommend.
Great spot. The location is cool and the coffee is great. There’s usually a short line but it moves quickly.
What I like best about this coffee shop is that its in a neighborhood, which means its quiet. Its away from the busy streets which allows you to sit outside under the umbrella and relax if you choose to do so, because its away from any main streets. I had an iced chai latte and it was good. I enjoyed coming here and sitting outside relaxing while I worked on planning a trip to Europe.
Great coffee with an open air setting, and extremely friendly staff. All things that are components of a lovely coffee shop! Their Ethiopian blend is amazing, I highly recommend taking some home!
One of my favorite coffee shops in area, drinks are always top notch. Especially the Chai.
Favorite coffee spot off of 14th st in DC. Smooth operation especially during COVID-19, always friendly and attentive staff. Spacious patio to safely enjoy coffee and social distance. Coffee is consistently wonderful!
Amazing, if you drink your coffee black or if you like pastries this place is amazing. Im sure the other stuff is good too
This trendy neighborhood coffee spot is tucked a couple blocks from the trendy U St. corridor and offers a young, creative vibe and inspiring atmosphere with high ceilings and eclectic decor. They make a great latte!
Nice patio with quick services.
Cozy spot, great outdoor seating, tasty iced tea!
Fantastic coffee - excellent staff. So happy to have this place in the neighborhood. I always get the iced latte and have never been disappointed. A great salve against the summer swamp heat in DC.
There are three other trendy little coffee shops that are closer to my house, and I pass by all of them when I walk to TCB. This is the cutest spot with the best coffee and the most pleasant vibe, hands down the best in DC overall.
Good coffee
By far the best mocha I have ever had. The line is always long but it is SO worth it. This hidden gem is also buzzing with people and their dogs on nice days! If you can, grab a seat outside - the people are so wonderful who work here. Just be ready to wait an extra couple minutes on a Saturday or Sunday morning especially.
The coffee is delicious, but I think they skimp on the amount you get for iced coffees. And Im not sure its worth the price. I pretty much only go here if I have a work meeting and want a change of scenery thats not on my own dime. Theyve also got a couple of vegan Snacks if thats your thing.
Taste average. Sitting average. Staff above average.
Red eye hits the mark every time.
TCB on S street is the cutest local coffee shop I’ve been to since moving to the region. The coffee served rotates from roaster to roaster. While I visited, they were serving Onyx from Northwest Arkansas and Ceremony from Baltimore, Maryland. The Coffee Bar had plenty of space you can being a laptop and apply for one of the several jobs you need to live in the city, but I loved the spacious and surprisingly unoccupied patio you can air and relax while you enjoy one of the few free moments you’ll have in between jobs or you can bring a friend to complain how expensive rent is and talk about how many roommates you actually have living in the 4 bedroom house you’re renting.
There was a rude woman at the register being curt about my name having an H or not when no one was even in line or waiting for a drink. Pretty sure it was the manager or owner too since she stepped in to deal with the money. Almost said to just say forget it and wanted to leave. She clearly wanted to.
The Coffee Bar is one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. Heres why:1) Coffee: Its just good. The straight-up black coffee is smooth and they craft a really good latte. If you dont like coffee, they have several tea options including a draft hibiscus tea latte.2) Space: Its beautiful. They have plenty of seats inside from tables to cushioned chairs in corners. They also have outdoor patio seating.3) Location: Its just off 14th Street with a neighborhood feel. Its where locals hang out.4) Food: They have a wide selection of pastries to choose from. Its the perfect place to camp out at all day.
I love small coffee shops. Mainly because the quality is better. Like this place. Great tasting coffee and espresso brewed fresh. Loved the pastries as well. Not expensive at all. I did find it funny how many people were there. And non of them interacting. All on their laptop or phone. The wall where the menu is, is very creative. And the staff knows their coffee. Great customer service. Havent had a bad experience when Ive gone.
Great coffee ☕ and great ambience. My favorite coffee shop in DC.
This is such a cute place! The coffee is outstanding, and so are the pastries. The staff was very friendly as well. It has the ultimate neighborhood coffee shop vibe even down to the outside seating.
Nice place to have a good cup of coffee and meet friends.
Some decent coffee and the pastries they sell are tasty. Prices are also fair. Downside is they have no way to heat up the pastries and it could be done with a simple microwave. I really do like the atmosphere of the place and they even have an outdoor area, so I thought it would be a good place to sit on a Sunday to catch up on some work/study. Sadly, I try to connect to WiFi only to find out they turn it off on weekends to encourage socializing vs. people on laptops. I thought it was a joke at first. I definitely understand the idea and how it could help filter out the long sitting customer who spends very little, but you should have a choice, *especially* if theres open seats, as there was. And honestly, Im sure someone on their laptop cant be there much longer than someone socializing. Just didnt get the best vibe there because of that and felt pressure to leave since I was still on my laptop.
Love this place, so much better than Starbucks. Lots of seating including comfy sofa and chairs and outside tables. Reasonable price too. Music in background waz pretty lame, mellow 70s pop and such.
No whip cream or almond milk which is sad. I got an iced mocha and took it back to get a vanilla latte which had absolutely no flavor. Great atmosphere but when I went it was extremely crowded and had to wait a little bit to get a seat.
Cozy neighborhood coffee shop. Good vibes and uses great beans from several small roasters. Highly recommend
Nice quiet spot. At least quiet when Im there. Late. Great coffee. NOT Starbucks.
The vibe and the coffee make this place worth it. Their prices are on par with other coffee places, so Id definitely recommend it. When its busy, theres not much seating, but the outdoor seating is cute and usually enough
I love this spot! Its super accessible but still in a more residential area which gives it that nice neighborhood coffee spot feel that DC often lacks compared to other cities. The staff and manager are really nice and responsive, and bring all around good vibes. Im here on a Monday afternoon and like how many different kinds of people are hanging out to work, read, or just chill. The prices are definitely lower than Id expect them to be which adds a n ice touch, and I like that they go beyond normal coffees and teas (currently sippin on some kind of hibiscus mango floral mocktail). Plenty of seating + a huge patio make this a place Ill definitely want to come back to
Best latte I have ever had. It was perfect. Its a nice place, takes itself seriously without being pretentious. I was there 9am on a Sunday - no line and plenty of places to sit, inside and out. They even spelled my name right on the cup, and with beautiful penmanship. A nice touch : )
Cozy, rustic-chic spot featuring elevated coffee drinks, a patio & locally made bagels & pastries.
This is the perfect neighborhood coffee shop. The coffee is great, the place is quiet and comfortable, theres indoor and outdoor seating, and Wi-Fi.
Went to this place during a business trip to DC. This spot is really great. Havr limited seating but in the nicer weather the outside tables are a good addition! Great cold brew and snacks with quality service. One of the best lattes Ive ever had,
As a super critical cold brew addict, the 24hr concentrate here is on another level. 10/10 would recommend this over any shop in the city.
Quality food beverages and service.
Cute, trendy, good coffee and friendly staff. I ordered a small latte, it was fantastic. You have two choices of coffee beans to choose from for your coffee base. I chose the Ethiopian coffee beans. There is a $5 minimum for credit/debit. The coffee is why I will be back, by far one of my favorite coffee places in the area. It was a little crowded inside, I was able to sit outside. If you are coming by yourself or just with one other person you shouldnt have too much trouble finding a seat. I was with a group of five so it was a little hard.
This place! Im in DC twice a year and I stop by each time. Do yourself a favor and get a pour-over while youre here. You wont be disappointed. Eclectic and cozy interior with some nice outdoor seating in a neighborhood setting. And yes, theres WiFi.
Been going here for a while now and its great. The staff is friendly, the coffee is good and the ambiance is good.My favorite part? The are a number of different seating styles to suit your mood including:*a counter to get work done*a large table good for talking with friends*cozy chairs and a couch for reading*big windows which are good to stretch out our have an intimate chat in*outdoor tables to enjoy the weather and take in the neighborhood
Great place for small group of one hundred people. A renovated space named for the late Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. It is historic and has memorabilia, photographs and art work representative of the struggle for social justice, past, present, and implications for what is needed in the future.
Being in the middle of it all yet quietly drinking your cup of joy ☕ and your small dog can rest in a planter 😍😍😍
I love it here. I love how they have an actual bar with stools you can sit at alongside your fellow coffee loving comrades. The staff is a good amount of friendly while still maintaining their barista coyness. The outdoor seating is nice for overcast days and crisp fall mornings. The coffee cant be beat, but I wish they offered more snack foods besides cookies and croissants.
Good coffee, nice atmosphere, strong wifi, great music. Theres nice seating outside and inside. It is also spacious enough that you can make phone calls without distracting other guests. The only drawback is that it is pretty expensive. Pour over coffee ranges from $4 to $4.50.
Snobby coffee bar. Yeah sure I want to hear all about coffees acidity after 10 minutes and no I didnt know theres cat poop coffee beans. I just want a coffee without a lecture. Procedure is nice but could dial it down on shoving coffee beans down your throat. Street parking available outside
The cardamon latte was very good! Cute shop, very friendly baristas, it was a great way to spend some time on a Saturday morning.
Its a great place to grab a coffee and study or just sit. Its always busy and a little bit noisy, but the coffees great and its within a short walk of other interesting places to go.They serve Verve and Ceremony Espressos and, for the pour-overs, theyve always had Verve, Publik and Ceremony available.UPDATE: theyve replaced the verve espresso with Bespoken.
I guess people really like this place because its independent and pretty hipster. Im not a coffee buff, so take my review with a grain of salt. Maybe I went in with too high of expectations from all the rave reviews. The coffee taste good, and the baristas were really cool and friendly. But the menu is pretty simple and the seating is pretty slim. Me and my friend had to basically chill on the window sill. It worked, but there are other place with ample space and comfortable seating that serve just as good a cup of coffee.Just good pretty accurately sums up my attitude towards this place. Nice experience, but nothing to call home about.
Delicious coffee, in a relaxed atmosphere, and Great location and friendly people! I probably had the best cup of coffee in my life. They have a best customer services..
Amazing drinks, fantastic staff, and a really cozy/cute atmosphere. The drinks are a little expensive, but I think its worth the splurge. My biggest complaint is that they close so early!
This is a great place. The coffee drinks are delicious. The coffee is tasty, well prepared, and the baristas really do a good job preparing the coffee. The staff is super friendly. Nice place to bring a laptop or a book and just chill.
I left a straw hat there on Friday; they had it for me when I stopped in in Monday. Very comfortable, off the main path place to hang out, read, sip a coffee or tea, or meet with a friend. Bagels & sweets as well.
One of the cutest coffee shops in DC. Cold brew is awesome. The place is always busy and in a great neighborhood. If theres not a spot in or outside, just take a walk and admire the character of the neighborhood.
Very decent coffee shop where you can spend some time relaxing or working. There are a good number of seats inside, and a large patio outside which is great on a nice day. Prices are reasonable, (Americano, $2.95) and service is friendly.
The Herbal tea was quite good, but my review is more on the atmosphere. Its quirky inside, but the seating isnt the greatest, the outlets didnt work and the music was a bit too loud. This resulted in some nearby people talking very loudly and made it hard to focus.I had read that this is a perfect place to do work, but I wouldnt recommend it if you need to concentrate and need wifi.
The Coffee Bar, although getting busier by the minute, is my go-to place for off-site meetings or getting stuff done out of the office. The chai is fantastic, well all the drinks are fantastic. The baked goods are usually great, just dont get there too late or the good stuff will be gone. Same goes with seats. Every time I go there its busier and busier, the outside seats are pleasant in the warm weather but when it gets cold, its going to get real in there trying to stake out a spot. A cute place in a cute neighborhood.
