Shop combines coffee shop on the right with cake shop on the left as you walk in... sitting area inside toward the back, and a few sidewalk chairs and tables... good selection of coffee drinks and pastries in the coffee shop side... gets a decent rolling crowd of customers... music is a bit too loud for my taste... nice neighborhood
5+⭐s for me. I lived, laughed, loved. 🧁❗Be warned - the line can get long. Prepare to wait a bit. It lives up to its hype, though.Dont make the same mistake as I did - buying one cupcake and thinking that was enough. I came back to D.C. and made this bakery a priority. The carrot cake, the strawberry cupcake, the German Chocolate, and the lemon ginger snap were also good. The hibiscus mint drink is also refreshing. Trust me - you will gag.
Got the lemon and red velvet cupcake! They were both so smooth but I have to say that the velvet cupcake was much better than the lemon one. I thought they would be too sweet but it wasnt overly sweet. The icing on top was thick and flavorful and the rest of the cupcake was so fluffy. There was a huge line throughout the entire day but we looked online to see if they take orders. We scheduled a Pickup for 45 mins which We spent exploring m street. We got to skip the line completely and picked it up hassle free!
When you talk about cupcakes and baked goods, Georgetown or better yet the DC area can be pretty competitive. Some places live off the hype of their name or prior fame and serve mediocre items. So if you want the best service, options, and deliciousness that are made local and always fresh, go to Baked & Wired. The space is extremely clean, they are very organized, they allow you to go inside to select the items you want, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I posted several pictures to help show how amazing the shop is but it still doesnt do it justice. Go visit, support local and get excited because you just found your new spot for coffee and something really delicious. Enjoy!
Visiting on vacation and came here every day on our trip. Tried many different pastries and drinks and everything was delicious. Friendly staff and cool atmosphere. Highly recommend!
My husband & I are huge fans of Baked & Wired, and always stop in for coffee and cupcakes when were in the area, so when we decided to have our wedding in DC, we immediately knew that we wanted our dessert to be made by them. We did a taste test with cupcakes about a year in advance, chose our flavors, and initially wanted a cupcake tower, but ended up going with a 3 separate piece cake setup, with 3 different flavors, which ended up being the perfect choice for what we had envisioned for our dessert options. We kept in contact with the team at Baked & Wired throughout our entire planning, and not only were they always responsive to our questions/concerns, but they were also so kind and helpful with suggestions and advice. On the day of our wedding, they delivered our cakes early, upon request, so that our planners would have more than enough time to decorate them, and the delivery staff was extremely careful and professional. All 3 cakes were made perfectly, with just the right amount of creaminess and moistness, all 3 flavors tasted amazing, and all of our wedding guests absolutely loved their pieces. My husband and I are so happy we chose Baked & Wired for our wedding cake(s) and we couldn’t be more satisfied with how they turned out, as well as the customer service leading up to our big day. I highly recommend this company for all your baked goods needs, and we look forward to stopping by again for some more cupcakes the next time were back in the DC area.
Amazing cupcakes, pastries and lattes! Definitely worth waiting if theres a line. Check out the menu online before so its not overwhelming.
Pre Covid this was the best and homiest cafe in Georgetown with the best cupcakes despite what food network says. Now without the comfy indoor seating, it is still the best. Worth the visit.
Love these cupcakes. I cannot imagine anyone ever being disappointed. So good and so worth the price !
OMG Bars are delightful. The coffee is amazing. The Persian nectar Iced Tea is Divine and don’t get me started on the cupcakes also can’t go wrong. Their ham and gruyere quiche is also the bomb. Stop reading and just go now to Baked and Wired, you won’t regret it! I certainly don’t and I don’t even live in DC and will drive down from Baltimore and back for this little slice of heaven.
This bakery was very popular, so I stopped by to check it out while in town. They had a really good artisan selection of baked goods that were definitely a cut above your average bakery store. The line was out the door, and a crowd waited in the street for a chance to get in and purchase some local favorites. I tried a selection of some cupcakes and their cookies and was not disappointed! If youre in town looking for something sweet - definitely give Baked and Wired a try!
The vibe in this place is great. My cousin loved her cupcake. But my pie and the lemon loaf seriously let me down.
Came by today to get cup cakes for my anniversary Ty or Tae was working. I wasn’t greeted. I asked him if he had tried the vanilla cupcake with the filling he seemed annoyed his answer was vague. During check out I asked him for a single box to put an cupcake in it ; he tossed the box into my bag. Not to mention his gloves were dirty with stains from the cupcakes on them that transferred on the box and on my bag. I was appalled by his demeanor. I love this place and as a valued customer I should have been treated with respect. His behavior was un acceptable and needs further coaching.
This is my favorite bakery and coffee shop in D.C. – and I say this as someone who’s lived in The District for several years. The quality of the baked goods here is exceptional, along with the breads and and savory quiches. The coffees are unusually rich and delicious, and there’s a good selection of teas as well. I’m sure it’s been tough during the pandemic for most cafés and restaurants, but Baked & Wired has held up well. Thank you, B&W for contributing so much to Georgetown – and to the D.C. baking scene. Long live the B&W cupcakes!
Worked there in another lifetime. If you don’t want to support terrible business owners that steal from employees, then avoid this place.
My daughter recommended this bakery for a special occasion. The strawberry cake was delicious ordered online. The cupcakes randomly bought during pick up of the cake were also delicious. Friendly and helpful staff. Great service in and outside of the store. I had a couple questions and left a message and the team responded quickly. Suggestion...Website needs to have a date request for the order to see availability before you get to the checkout screen.
Ordered a dozen cupcakes online. The online system did not have a note section (every online ordering system should have a note section). I wanted to request the vegan and gluten-free cupcakes separated as it was for a party and I wouldn’t know which is which once I took it home. I had to make that request to the associate when I picked up the cupcakes. The associate was not thrilled and I mentioned that the online system didn’t have a note section. She replied that they don’t offer that option but would do it for me. She did. But she did not mark which box/cupcake was vegan and which was gluten-free. Why couldn’t she take the extra 10 seconds to mark the box? How will I know which is which? This was a missed opportunity for their business in both online ordering system and associates not trained in how to handle special requests.
What can I say? The right ratio of icing to cupcake, interesting flavors, an INCREDIBLY adorable shop space... my favorite!!I love the cupcakes for how moist they are and find them much more satisfying than the nearby Georgetown Cupcakes. Not sure what else to say, I definitely recommend this to almost everyone. Stop by, take a photo of the iconic pink bicycle outside, grab a coffee and grab a chai cupcake. You won’t regret it!
This is one of my favorite places in Georgetown. Every time I visit DC I come here. Cupcakes are great and coffee in the attached shop is too. The staff are sweet and helpful. Definitely grab a cupcake paired with a nice cup of coffee and sit by the canal.
I came here while visiting on a recommendation from a local friend. While I cant attest to my friends statement that Baked & Wired is far superior to Georgetown Cupcakes as Ive never had anything from the latter I can say that the friend I came here with and I both agree that these were some of the best, if not the best cupcakes weve ever had. Theyre absolutely massive with the perfect balance of cake to frosting. From the parchment squares that theyre baked in to the way they are boxed up, these cupcakes were made to survive walking around and arent nearly as fragile as cupcakes with peaks of frosting. While they only had one vegan option (a classic Oreo/cookies and cream that many vegan know to expect when getting dessert out) it was phenomenal! My friend order a lemon raspberry cupcake and we were both astounded that not only was the cake perfectly moist and tender despite us getting to the bakery towards the end of the day. The highlight for both of us however, was that even though the cupcakes were huge, they werent overly sweet and we could happily indulge in eating the whole thing in one sitting without a stomach ache afterwards.I cant wait to come back to DC so that I can stop by again!
Best breakfast in the area- you will not be disappointed. their french toast is AMAZING, as well as their scones. also customer service is great. they put bacon on my meal by accident (I do not eat pork). they apologized, made me a new order immediately
So so so sooooo good. Its very rare that I like cupcakes but this place was amazing 😍 you can tell they use high quality ingredients and honestly I would prefer these over a birthday cake from any other place. Definitely this over Georgetown Cupcakes or Sprinkles.
These are the best cupcakes in DC. The Doom cupcake is my favorite, but all of them are awesome!
AMAZING🤩 If you are a chocolate lover then I recommend the Chocolate Doom cupcake. It was my absolute favorite. The brownies are also to die for. And if you are looking for a place to just hang with friends, chat, eat, etc. this place is it. Plus eco-friendly straws. Overall this place is has fantastic food and a very chill vibe. I would totally recommend it to all Starbucks lovers, coffee lovers, and everyone in between.
Best cupcakes in town! We also always get the Hippie Crack granola. Soooo good!
Ridiculous good. Huge selection of baked goods including vegan options 👌. Everything I had was in top tier of taste and quality. As a traveling baker, I feel pretty confident in saying this is one of the best dessert bakeries in the country. Moist and fluffy cake, smooth and rich chocolate, zesty yet subtle citrus fruits, consistent and creamy frosting... We had the little Bertha Sandwich cookie which I wouldnt normally pick, but glad I did. Razmanian Devil which was filled with raspberry with a perfect blend of lemon outside, and my favorite the Vanilla Satin which was pretty much a slice of cake in a cup, but better than any cake youve ever had. Also, coffee was great. Theres plenty of room inside and kind of cozy, but it was fairly loud and busy. When in DC, I will return every.single.time.
Awful, huge cupcakes. I would rather get great small cupcakes from georgetown cupcakes. This one doesnt even come close to in their frosting flavor to Georgetown
Probably the best cupcakes Ive ever had. Great portions and not too rich or too moist, its just perfect. Always a stop when I am in the area.
One of the better cupcakes in DC. Other places may receive more publicity but in my view this is the best. The bakery has a hipster vibe and places where you can hang out while you drink your latte and consume the baked goods. The cupcakes were moist and did not taste like they had been frozen. If you like cupcakes this is worth the visit.
The cupcakes are amazing but I wish they had a form of cash to purchase a cupcake from there you have to have credit or debit card I wish they had cash process
There are Baked & Wired die-hards and then there is everyone else. Although I fall into the latter category, B&W is still a must-try in Georgetown and Ive never had a bad purchase from there. That said, I still think the cake-cups are over-hyped and I wish the hours were a little more convenient. Usually have very kind and helpful staff!
Georgetown Cupcake, which is more famous, was visited by us on another trip. So this time, we walked over to this spot, where the lines are shorter and the cupcakes are delicious. Their shape is unusual: they’re taller, so more cake for your buck. But you’ll likely wish you had more frosting. We tried Raspberry Cloud and Pretty Bitcoin’.
They do serve gluten free cookies and cakes. It is a good place and lots of people visit it. I would recommend it for celiac people
AWESOME cupcakes! Extremely moist; icing had just the right amount of sugar.... And like others have said, NOT worth the wait at Georgetown Cupcakes; come here instead! It was a little crowded on a Sunday morning, but still easy (and quick!) to get a cupcake and some tea. Seating is cozy, and we loved that you could write messages on napkins and stick them to the wall! We will definitely be back here next time we visit!
The BEST cupcake place in DC hands down. Don’t buy into the hype of Georgetown Cupcakes, this place takes the cake 😎. Always great flavors and top notch service
I love this place for coffee and breakfast snacks!I love their chocolate cinnamon role :)
My goto for an iced dirty chai for almost a decade. Dropping 2 stars today because my iced dirty chai was so INCREDIBLY sweet that its absolutely undrinkable. If I were still in Georgetown Id bring it straight back, belch!
OVERRATED and EXPENSIVE. I went here last August 28, 2021 and I bought 6 pieces of cupcakes for $45.00!!! It was NOT worth it. The frosting was super sweet and the cake was very dry. Not buying from this bakery again. Not worth the money, gas, and energy.
Awesome baked goods. You know by the line down the block. Worth the wait
Great local Georgetown bakery in the heart of the historic district. Even later in the evening there was a crowd and seating is limited so be prepared to take your yummies to go. Lots of offerings from cookies to bars to cupcakes and even seasonal biscotti. I enjoyed the chocolate chess bar and an alfajores cookie while others in my group enjoyed the cupcakes. With so many choices you can go back again and again!
I wish this place was down the street from me, id go every day if I could. All the sandwiches we have gotten here have been so delicious. I always pick up little chocolates and cookies on my way to check out. Also their coffee tasted amazing and im a baby with coffee haha
Love the cupcakes! Went several times and it is always so hard to choose only a few, as they offer so many attractive flavors. I think the carrot cake one is my favorite... Service is always really nice too. But I have been disappointed by the matcha latte, taste just like plain milk, and I had to wait for a really long time to have it.I recommend ordering online because great cupcakes = usually huge line in front of the shop!
Absolutely heavenly! As a gourmet cupcake lover, I have tried all of the local chains and none compare. After hearing a coworker mention Baked & Wired, I became extremely intrigued and had to try them since I never heard of them beforehand. When I first visited, there was a slight line, but it moved at a decent pace, as the workers quickly obtain and immediately box your order before you reach the register. The store has a vintage, hip theme that differentiates it from the other cupcake chains in a fun, unique way. The most appealing aspect is the size; the cupcakes are not miniature snacks but instead LARGE-sized treats. You can literally split one amongst three individuals. The flour is light and fluffy without any dense chunks, making it easy to consume. The flavors are pretty standard, and they are permanent, so you dont have to worry about missing your favorite, as their always there. I love the strawberry, raspberry lemon and coconut. The savory goodness is authentic and rich, literally the best I have ever tasted. It intertwines a homemade touch with a nice gourmet kick. I highly recommend them and officially coin them as the best gourmet cupcake retailer in the DMV area!
So, typically I never go out of my way to buy a cupcake. But my friend took me here and I have to say, I had the most amazing carrotcake I’ve ever had in my life! Its unfortunate that I was only in town for one day, otherwise I would come back and try all the others! Line is long but the cupcake was great. Hip and cute trendy little place.
Always a lovely stop in Foggy Bottom! I got the carrot cake and my partner got the strawberry. Both were wonderful—the strawberry was REALLY sugary but hey, it’s a cupcake. Definitely worth the price for the size of these things and their amazing taste. We did not stay in to eat, but there was a good amount of seating in the back with a super cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff as well!
Love the split format, coffee was superb and bakery was loaded with options. Ill be back every time I visit DC
Spent 30 mins trying to decide no exaggeration; IT IS HARD TO DECIDE EVERY CAKE IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER NO KIDDING! The menu is mouthwatering and literally every cake is to die for. I tried the carrot & the smurfette and they were irresistible. Both were above expectations but I think I loved the carrot more. I wish Baked & Wired would open in Boston!!Honestly I came here planning to only take one cupcake and take a 2nd cupcake from Georgetown Cupcake, but when I tried the sample? Baked & Wired definitely wins. I ended up taking 2 & skipping Georgetown cupcakes 😂
Amazing cupcakes! So many flavors. Ive never had anything disappointing here.
Absolute gem of a place - must try in DC! Even theyre awesome drinks are outshined by their spectacular cupcakes and baked goods, ofc (also have vegan, GF options) - try anything with chocolate and the delectable marshmallow bar! Service is friendly and explanatory. Small storefront so expect lines/wait that does move quickly though.ig: @harshaeats
Great place to get your sweet tooth fix. Cookies, pie and other baked goods are on the menu. Hard to pick a few.
Cupcakes are huge but they are a bit dry. We tried 4 (razmanian devil, unicorn, red velvet, and carrot). Best one was the razmanian. Thankfully we didn’t wait in any sort of line of a weekday afternoon.
Only downside is there is no delivery at Baked & Wired, meaning you have to go there to pick any orders up. Plus side, not as crowded as Georgetown Cupcake (and might have better ones offered here).
Everytime Im in Georgetown this little spot is a must! The coffee paired with fresh treats and a friendly knowledgeable staff makes for a memorable spot. Excellent for a date or of your stopping for a quick staple on your way through the city.
We truly had the best cupcakes/brownie that we have every eaten in our entire lives. This place is the REAL DEAL! The long line outside says it all. It was 110% worth the wait. The coffee was also great and all of the workers really kind and attentive. MUST visit if you’re anywhere close to DC.
Worth the hype, make sure you try their seasonal flavors not only the cupcakes but also their brownies and drinks
I recommend most of their chocolate and fruit flavored cupcakes over the vanilla ones!
Quiche was good and the cupcake was on point. Also the staff were super nice and I’d recommend going early to avoid the crowd.
Fast, friendly and professional service. Quality product.
Theres a manager by the name of Diamante whos quite amazing! Great Team!💫 Excellent customer service!🤗❤
Love them! Excellent baked goods! Thank you for offering an easy online ordering experience.
Best cupcakes around hands down. My top three favorites in order were the Razmanian Devil, the carrot cake and the Texas. I want to try one of pretty much everything they sell.Update: tried the s’mores bar today and that is my new favorite
This place gets busy and for good reason. So many cakes, cookies, coffee and other things. The cupcakes i had, the vanilla-vanilla and the pistachio were delicious. Kinda pricy but its dc so yeah.
There is always a line so be sure to order online and pickup takes seconds. We tried 4 - strawberry, pistachio, carrot cake, and Razmanian Devil. Our favorite was the Razmanian Devil, it was so moist and delicious! All were so good, worth the hype. The least favorite was the Strawberry, which is apparently a best seller. The flavor was very mild/basic compared the other ones so we wouldn’t get that one again.
Bought my wife’s birthday cake from here (carrot cake). COVID times, so they delivered for an extra fee. The 8” cake looked small but was very dense and fed 7 people easily. The cream cheese frosting was really great. It was more expensive than I normally pay for birthdays, but it was a very special occasion and I had heard great things from friends. The bakery lived up to its reputation!
Baked & Wired has the best cupcakes in DC--hands down! If you havent been yet, this is a must. It is one of the top spots that I bring visitors, or go to for office treats. The Elvis impersonator is a favorite. It sounds like a lot of flavors, but its not over powering. If youre feeling adventurous and dont mind pork, definitely ask for the bacon on top. Other favorites are the Chai, and Cherry Blossom.
In a town full of famous bakeries, this place stands out. The cupcakes were moist and flavorful and the frostings were light and creamy. I kind of gave up on cupcakes recently due to so many encounters with dry over sweatened desserts, but these cupcakes totally nailed it! We also picked up a few cookies, each were excellent! Will have to make his place a routine stop whenever I’m in Georgetown!
A local bakery and coffee shop that has so many great options! The variety of delicious cup cakes should make you want to visit, but you should also take part in the other goodies or take some home for later! I had the ham and cheese quiche that was made perfectly with a flaky crust and firm egg consistency. I worked my way through a couple of cupcakes and brought home some granola for later. What makes the cupcakes are the delicious toppings, so my favorite was the Tasmanian Devil (lemon and raspberry)!
Big selection of great cupcakes, I would consider them as cakes that is shaped like a cupcake as they are big. They have a verity of baked goods as well which changes daily/weekly. The staff are really nice and will help guide you when seen to be lost choosing. The atmosphere is funky for a cupcake shop and not so refined which gives it a nice unique vibe to the shop. Unfortunately wasnt as impressed with the coffee section as the coffee wasnt as expected. Must try for cupcake junkies.
Best cupcakes in DC (except for the red velvet, which you should only buy from Red Velvet Cupcakery). My fave is Razmanian. Best cinnamon bun Ive tasted in my black life. Buns are only on Sundays and get there early cause they run out. I wont stand in line anywhere else. (yes, that was shade.)
I don’t normally make definitive statements but Baked & Wired produces the best cupcakes in town. Granted they don’t draw crazy lines like the Georgetown neighbour but that more about branding than quality.Want to consistently experience the best tasting bakery in the district? Look and gobno further than this place.
A popular place with fairly long line. A large variety of cup cakes to choose from. Good presentation.
Baked & Wired provides Georgetown and beyond with small-batched baked goods prepared from family recipes and innovative minds
Pretty good selection of gourmet cupcakes. They’re yummy, well made, but not a knock out of the park. Typically super busy so don’t forget to bring patience.
When people were waiting in a 30 minute line for a Georgetown Cupcake cupcake years ago, I wondered why there was no line at Baked and Wired, because while Georgetown Cupcake had the presentation advantage, Baked and Wired had bigger cupcakes with moister cake and better frosting. The word is out and has been for a few years now...so order online or go at off peak times as it now it takes 30 minutes to get a Baked and Wired cupcake on a weekend afternoon...But if youre not in a hurry, I guess thats part of the fun and the cupcakes are definitely worth the wait.
