One of the few coffee shops open at 0600 in DC. Delicious coffee, vibrant atmosphere and good customer service.

Great addition to the neighborhood. Very good coffee that they roast in house. And dog friendly inside and outside. Good amount of space both indoors and out too if you need to post up with a laptop for a few hours.

This is a good area for a little café. I used to live further up Rhode island and there werent many options. Im not a coffee drinker but the spicy chai latte and apple croissant I had were good. The service was great, I got my takeout and was on my way rather quickly.

This corner needed Roasted Boon. Great coffee and tea options plus yummy and unique breakfast foods like the cheddar and chive scone I devoured in ten seconds flat. When Im comfortable spending time in places that arent my home Ill be excited to work here and transition from afternoon tea to happy hour thanks to their wine bar! Very cool vibes and large outdoor patio.

Great vibes, but someone there was only one batista and she was swamped. I mean never ending line. I got a croissant and a spiced Chai latte with oat milk. About 11 dollars total bot including tip. Latte was nothing to brag about, but croissant was great. No great parking. Your going to have to drive around the block like a shark. Outdoor patio was great. Went in the morning around 9:30 on a Sunday.

A terrific addition to the neighborhood! The latte is great. Selection of beautiful pastries. Reasonable prices. They also have frappés and smoothies. Lots of indoor space and outdoor tables with umbrellas. Maybe they will add breakfast sandwiches to the menu?

DELICIOUS COFFEE!!! (I enjoy coffee I find it hard to find a fantastic latte) Got a classic vanilla latte with breve and it is freaking GOOD! Its perfect in strength, smooth, perfect in temp, creamy and tasty! Staff was great- warm, welcoming and sweet! Really chill vibe and super comfortable whether youre meeting a friend or studying! You can sit inside (BLESS) or outside and grab a bite to eat too! Also super cute that you can use a real mug, and they also recycle! After youre finished, set your plastics and ceramics on the same shelf ❤️

This has fast become my neighborhood go-to since moving to the area. The shop has a nice relaxed vibe with lots of indoor and outdoor space. Staff are friendly and efficient, the coffee is good, and all the food Ive tried has been tasty. Its also dog-friendly, so a good place to stop on a walk!

Beautiful new coffee shop with great east African wall decor, and a comforting industrial vibe. They also have a huge coffee roaster on display. Wine is also served!

Chris is one of the most knowledgeable and friendly baristas Ive ever met. He showed me videos on his phone of types of coffee and how he roasts them with this giant computerized machine with a LCD readout.

Regular customer. However, today, I went to use the bathroom and was going to order afterwards only to get two steps out the bathroom door before getting yelled at by the barista staff. They assumed I was using the bathroom and leaving.I received no apologies and rather, when expressing my discomforts the barista awkwardly laughed and disregarded my concerns.Will likely take my business elsewhere - which is saddening because I love supporting local businesses. A espresso on the house would have made the entire ordeal less insulting.

The Roasted Boon is a coffee shop on a corner in the Shaw neighborhood. If you see the giant Shaw mural on the outside, youve reached it.They sell a variety of coffees and pastries. They use Ethiopian coffee and my latte was well done. Not as creamy as other coffee shops, but still good.There are more murals inside including a colorful map of the world. The unisex restrooms are open and there are two large areas of safe-distance seating.Theres a large outdoor patio with tables spread out safely.Staff were very friendly, wearing masks and remembered many of their regular customers.

Really cool vibe! Mix of Afro-European tendencies. Feel like I could be in London or Paris.

What a great coffee shop. The assistant manager Gabby is amazing! Probably the best person at the shop. She treats all clients so well, always seems super chipper and caring. You must stop by if you are in the area. Coffee tastes great! Try the pour over, it’s the best coffee I’ve had in a long time.

Good coffee. We sat outside in the winter and they proactively came outside to turn on a heater for us. Were looking forward to coming back!

This place is great! The mulled wine was delicious and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. They have a nice heated patio that’s open until 10. Highly recommend!

I come here about 3 times a week and today while running my bottle ran out of water i became dizzy so i stopped in and asked for water (its 95 degrees) flushed and dizzy i was refused water. Thankfully my cell had barely enough charge i used apple pay for $.99! I was so disappointed knowing had i left without That water i would have passed out. I cannot imagine ever giving them my business again.

A great addition to the neighborhood! The transformation of the space is very well done and has potential to be a great cafe for working and people watching. The Shaw latte is delicious (it is sweet - but looking at the ingredients will tell you that). Ham and cheese croissant is good and I appreciate the serving size. The service has been wonderful each time. I find many other reviews unfairly harsh - come on people, it is no easy thing to open a restaurant in the middle of a global pandemic!

Nice set-up. I ordered pumpkin cold brew coffee which they were advertising out front. Expecting a pumpkin infused cold brew. It came with milk and sugar added. This is a ice latte with pumpkin syrup. Not happy.

Great location and very nice atmosphere! Although the cashier didn’t seem to know the menu. Which is fine, but terrible impression for a first comer. And it was out of any sweetener besides sugar? I had high expectations...

So far the only thing Roasted Boon has going for it is the cute decor and outdoor space. Everyone is very friendly too. However, the coffee leaves a lot to be desired. I tried the Shaw Latte, and it was way too sweet. My partner got an ice coffee and it legit looked like sweet tea and tasted like nothing but watered down burnt grounds. I love the idea of having another local coffee shop in the neighborhood but they really need to up their game if they want to stay in the area, especially with the competition. I hope in a few weeks they have everything ironed out and I’d be willing to go back again.

This review is so hard to write. I wanted to LOVE this place. Finally a neighborhood locally owned coffee shop (not to mention BO!). But there are just so many problems. The staff is not trained at all. The drink menu is limited, and yet one cashier was confused with my order (I was reading off the wall). Simple requests are more trouble than they are worth. Asking for a little half and half results in a cup filled with cream.But the biggest issue by far is that the store claims its bagels are from Fresh Baguette. Except I watched the employees take out a package of Thomas Bagels from a grocery store and stock the bagels in the display with those. When you charge so much for a bagel -- you would expect that its a premium product -- not Thomas Bagels.None of these things would be an issue if this was a 7-11, but if they are going to charge these prices they really need to shake things up.Im hoping this is just the shaky beginning.

Great atmosphere, plenty of (socially distanced) seating inside and out, and enough space to get a lot of work done. food is delicious (try the salmon quiche! very light snd tasty) and the strawberry smoothie!friendly, helpful staff as well!

Very clean bathrooms, a personal must if I will sit in a coffeeshop for quite some time. My only complaint is the music is too good to focus, so dont forget your headphones if youre studying!

Friendly staff, good interior, and a great location, but completely misses the mark. As many other reviewers have said the iced coffee was burnt, watered down, and closer to being iced tea.With all the competition around here you cannot serve mediocre coffee with the hope that a nice interior and location will win guests over. The chocolate croissant was stale and clearly thawed from frozen; an unfortunate byproduct of a mass produced assembly line. This area can support expensive baked goods but the product has to be worth itPeak DC swamp summer needs great iced coffee and great pastries. Might just be opening-day jitters but that iced coffee does not build any confidence in the future of The Boon.

SO happy that this cute little coffee shop opened in my neighborhood. Their dirty chai and pumpkin lattes are super yummy. Love the atmosphere here too, and everyone who works here is really friendly!

This is just what this neighborhood needed. A nice friendly and cute coffee shop!The selection of products was great and the place was organized and had great energy!The barista, Gabby, was so nice and welcoming and truly added to the whole experience!

The guy who took our order was so rude me and my mom and myself felt racially discriminated he kept looking at us up and down as if we couldn’t afford the things we were ordering we asked him a question he got mad and when we asked for drinks he kept making excuses about not have the things to make it I have gone to many cafes before and their so nice but I’m disappointed in this cafe. I will tell my family and friends to avoid this place.

Best cappuccino in the area! They make amazing coffee and employ BIPOC, which is important, especially in this unfortunately gentrifying area. I didnt research, but it looks locally owned too. The patio and indoor space is nice and spacious.

This place is beautiful! Lovey decor, friendly staff and very very tasty coffee. My coffee expert, my 13 year old, Starbucks loving neice said the caramel Frappuccino was better than Starbucks!!!! My coffee was perfect with a shot of pumpkin syrup to get me in the fall spirit. Very cool vibe and tasty looking desserts. Id come back whenever Im in the neighborhood.

Ordered a black, unsweetened/unflavored iced pour over with Guatemalan roast and flavor was far superior to other iced coffees I have ordered from other coffee places in the area. Did not taste watered down or burnt. I was walking outside so towards the end of the cup the ice did melt and watered it down a bit but that was my own fault since I was drinking it a little slow. I am generally quite picky with coffee. Would definitely order again :)

Very happy to have a new coffee shop in the Shaw area that is owned by small business. The interior is spacious and beautifully decorated. Love the outdoor patio especially during this pandemic. Have been here for 4 times in the past week. The hot Cafe Mocha with almond milk is my favorite so far. We always get our drinks very quickly, perfect for a late afternoon boost.This place is brand new, of course it cant be perfect, especially during this pandemic when everything is out of wrack, but it has so much potential thats worth to visit and support.For those basic entitled Karens with their negative comments, please go visit the nearest soulless Starbucks or Dunkin.This place will be our new go-to coffee shop!

I was really excited for this place to open up as I live about a block away and it would be great to have a nearby coffee shop/hang spot. The place itself is really cute with some outdoor seating and is an inviting atmosphere. My only problem is with the coffee itself (which at a coffee shop is a pretty concerning problem). I ordered an iced coffee and could immediately tell that it was not going to be good. It was super light - looked more like iced tea - and had zero flavor. As a coffee shop in DC with competitors like la colombe, compass, philz, etc., you cannot get the coffee wrong. Ill go back and try a different drink but hopefully they start making their iced coffee a bit stronger and more robust.

This place has amazing beverages and a sunny, light filled atmosphere—definitely my new favorite place for coffee!

What a gem. And finally, a local coffee shop in this area, that isn’t more than a block away from my house. I can now ditch the commercial feel of starbucks! Coffee is great. Many options. Food is great. And vibe is comfortable and relaxing with creative decor and tunes. The baristas are very kind and hard workers. Yesterday was my first day, and I’m back a day later. It may become my morning routine as a quick, easy outing during Covid. Can’t wait until the wine bar opens! Come check this place out!!!!PS- I guarantee the other not so great reviews are so to opening pains, like any other new business.
