Picture it... A beautiful sunlit day, surrounded by great company, eating delicious food - with HORRIBLE service; thats Café du Parc.We all started out ordering drinks and appetizers, only to have to literally beg for water. I had the caesar salad and the Moscow mule. The salad was quite tasty, and even though I hate when the restaurant brings a salad with uncapped anchovies - I enjoyed it, work and all. The others in my party enjoyed the French onion soup - which was quite rich; and the crab cake, that was surprisingly full of crab and not too much filler. The entree’s were quite tasty as well. I got the burger and fries. This is definitely one of the best burgers I’ve had in DC. I added the peppered bacon to really make it pop. There was another burger and a turkey club at the table. The club was probably the most impressive dish there - the bread was perfectly toasted and the smoked turkey was moist and tasty. The food being well prepared is where all things positive about my visit to Café du Parc - END. The staff is inattentive, and borderline incompetent. Having to ask for water, straws, or our waiter multiple times is really beneath what a restaurant at the Willard Hotel should be offering.I also count not help but notice the way that the waitstaff literally ran around and coordinated to keep the tables for the white patrons clean and clear of empty cups and plates, and how my friends and I ate an entire meal without anyone ever even asking if we were done or needed anything else.In short the food here was great, but as a Black man - I can’t in good conscience go back here.
A great place for a date night! Or a girls day out! My friends and I sat outside on the patio and experience lovely weather, amazing and patient host and delicious dessert. From the look of the menu entrées and appetizers are reasonably price. However, you feel like you’re having a five-star meal. This place is definitely worth the trip!!My friend had the chocolate mousse and I had the apricot tart with vanilla ice cream. They were both absolutely delicious!**my video will not upload
The ambiance is amazing. The staff is more intent on making sure you wear masks rather than ensuring that your order is correct. I would not have walked in and forgot to wear mask if our order would have been as ordered. However, it was a good overall experience.
Great location and food. But service could be much better. Waiter brought our food and then never asked us whether we need anything else until payment. Gave us an individual sized bottle of mayo that has been used by someone else (you have to dig into it with your knife and someone already did). Girl at the door served us better than the waiter. Had to ask her for new condiments, additional silverware etc. Lack of care or lack of training?
Other reviews have commented on the service but I was happy with our server. He wasnt super-available, so not ideal if youre in a rush, but very friendly and helpful. The food was hit or miss. We had escargots and tuna tartare starters - escargots were good, tuna tartare was fine as well but had a little bit too much going on (and the tuna was good quality but not the very best - had a few stringy parts that should have been trimmed off). But tasty. The boeuf bourgignon was very tasty, and the steak frites pretty good as well. The rockfish, however, was not great - its served with a sauce vierge, which in this case included a ton of black olives. Not an uncommon ingredient in sauce vierge, but not a core ingredient either, and olives are a divisive-enough ingredient that I think they should have been specifically called out on the menu. Some olives in the sauce would not have been a big deal, except that the entire fish filet tasted like olives, and the parts that actually tasted like fish did not taste particularly fresh (had a very fishy taste characteristic of not-very-fresh fish). Was really disappointed in that dish. The desserts were decent, wine selection was a little sparse, cocktails a little inconsistent but not bad.Overall, this place seems fairly inconsistent - Im sure its possible to have a great meal here if you order the right things, but if you get unlucky like we did with the rockfish, it can put a damper on the evening.
Excited to try as the website made it sound like the food would have been a great experience. Food was cold and was not any better than just a local diner. Our waiter was nice but never checked to see how our food was and was not very attentive. The price was outrageous for the quality of food and service. Very disappointed.
The food was ok and would have been better if it were half the price. Much of it I couldve made better at home. The lobster bisque should be renamed lobster-flavored bisque. There wasnt any lobster in it. The beef sandwich is pot roast on bread. The French onion soup is covered in Costco cheese. For prices this high, the food shouldve been much better. I dont know why its getting such good reviews on here. The restaurant must be hiring companies to boost their reviews online.Dont go here.
Location great, afternoon sun great, glass of wine fine, onion soup & duck pate, service decidedly meh average. No attention to detail, food rubbish, cocktails just mailed in, too sweet, so not up to Inter-Con standard. Guarantee no one has given a sh!t about this menu in a long time.
The dessert was one of the best I ever had. I am not a dessert person but this thing was super delicious. The fries with burger were delicious as well. Its been long that I had such delicious and crispy fries. The ambience and staff were good as well.I had soup but it was not hot! And the impossible burger was fine.Given the price and mediocre experience with soup and burger I will probably only go next time for the dessert. 😉
Popped into this charming little cafe on a rainy day. Even though it was raining I chose to sit outside under a very nice umbrella. I ordered the onion soup to start $13. It was good, could have used a touch more salt and acid in my opinion but still really good and served in the classic lions head bowl for a nice touch. Next I ordered the lamb loin $36. Also very tasty served on couscous with dried apricots and yellow bell inside and some nice grilled veggies on the sideAlso could have used a touch more salt but the lamb was cooked perfect. Good job will be back for more.
Food was delicious! Crab cake was stuffed full of crab, mussels were piled high and delicately seasoned even for a curry. Dessert was so rich. Service was attentive and they even helped us move to a table closer to a heater when our kids got too cold.
Grabbed late lunch Saturday and ordered lobster roll and mussels, both tasted great. Service also excellent and we enjoyed.
We really enjoyed our Salmon Salad here last night. The salmon was cooked exactly as we ordered it. All the staff are very pleasant & attentive. Dining outdoors was lovely. Thanks so much.May 16, 2021 - We brought our grandson here for lunch. Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our delicious meal. Rath, our pleasant server, gave us wonderful suggestions and although he was very busy he checked on us often. We will be back and without a doubt we will always recommend you to others Cafe du Parc. Thanks so much.
I was very happy to have attended this weekend High Tea ...something I gave been interested in for awhile.. We were already booked the Willard Hotel..so the friendly staff at the Cafe du Parc reserved a place for me and my boyfriend..the ambience of the hotel easily lends itself to an affair such as this..the menu allowed you to choose the type and flavor of tea..an extensive collection..I chose the Lady Grey Blue and Caesar chose the Japanese Green tea..They offered little sandwiches with lobster, Chicken pate, Turkey and Cucumber....Two different flavours of scones with accompanying jellies..and Devonshire cream and lemon curd.. then for the sweets..some chocolate bites, raspberry cookies and jelly roll type swirl..Excellent.Would like to give a round of applause to the following ...Deepak Humagain Sanchez,Christina Harris,Saffe and their hard working and creative staff..almost forgot one could also enjoy a glass of champagne.. Bravo..I would also like to acknowledge the lady who provided background music from her harp..very appropriate..
Food was excellent! Service was good, but one issue. I ordered the chefs special which was described at Smoked Snapper, but was brought a mixture of seafood. No one mentioned that they were out of the Snapper, just brought me a different meal. Granted the catch of the day was delicious, but would have been nice to be asked. God forbid if I was allergic or something.
Their coffee and pastry are delicious. You can go straight to the espresso bar to order if you’re not looking for a big sit down breakfast.
The only reason this restaurant got a star was because of Salvador’s awesome service … however a woman named Sumi was pretty classist and rude . Gave my family and I the impression that we don’t belong here, even though we are paying customers. Kinda upsets me because I makes me question if it was the fact that I was speaking Spanish to my mother or if it was because I was black ? I don’t know why they were acting this way but this experience was discomforting.
My second ever review, but I had to review this place. Oh so pretentious. Oh, no reason to be.4 oclock on a Monday afternoon and ask for a table of 4 to get drinks. Told that could only have drinks inside, that to get a table outside we needed to order food. Hmm, really, during a pandemic? Ok fine, well sit outside and order food then. Get offered a table in the blazing sun. Really, 3 out of 3 tables are occupied and thats where you want us to sit? Not at any of the empty tables in the shade?Things only got worse - forgot 1 of the plates we ordered; took more than 10 minutes to get a beer served; the mens bathroom was out of soap, paper towel, and the toilet paper roll holder was broken. Got the check (had to go inside and get it ourselves, obviously), except they bought the wrong one. Get the right check - remember that plate that never arrived? Yup, it was on the check.Tell the waitress that the service was terrible: Oh, thats ok.Google, its really not fair that 1 star is as low as were allowed to go.
I stopped by this cafe / restaurant for some coffee and pastries after enjoying a stay at The Willard Intercontinental conjoined next door. Cute spot, sadly covid restrictions were enforced so there was no indoor dining allowed, but if it hadnt been raining Id have sat in the outdoor dining area. I got a cappuccino to go and a pastry that I didnt know what it was at the time, I took it home and actually ate it 2 days later. I literally had to call the cafe to find out what it was because it was délicieuse! Made in heaven by the gods for the gods! Its called the Earl Grey Tea Chocolate Bar, its like solid chocolate mousse with an ever so slight minty tingle to it set on a chocolate biscuit bottom, and it literally had bits of gold edible foil on it, like classy stuff lol. Now it was pricey, I had sticker price shock when I bought it but it was worth it - I dont have a sweet tooth, I do love chocolates but Im not that crazy about chocolate deserts or even sweets and pastries in general, but I decided to try something unfamiliar and boy was it good ! Dont even question it or over think it, just Do It! I look forward to visiting there again soon, Ill definitely have that chocolate bar again, and based on other reviews of the place, hopefully Ill try some of the food items too.
The food was well prepared! The ambiance was poor due to 30 mins of conflict with the manager, Richard, and his staff. I did ask to speak with the manager about this. His response was, I know I’m sorry that is why I’m looking for my manager. Compliments to the chef thumbs down for leadership.
Excellent food and service. They could have charged me twice as much and I would not have complained.
Cutest little cafe and their drinks do not disappoint. I tried a mocha and chai latte - both were exceptional. Even their croissants are top quality.
The $18 hamburger was not hand formed, and missing the fried onions, and was very disappointing. The salad nicoise was missing ingredients, and it was difficult and slow to get these missing resolved. The rock fish and tofu were good and served correctly on the first pass.
The best thing about this place is the breeze that comes through outside...the food is pasable not super hamburger came with a super cold tomato which wasnt great i told them about it...and that was it...if i came back would be just for a coffee
Great spot and atmosphere for a party of 6 or less. However, Ill NEVER come back there with a big group. We went there and they kept pouring wine and bottled water into our glasses - racking up a $1300 bill for 12 girls, without much of our consent. Nobody asked them to bring more bottles. That was sneaky and unfair. Dont do this to people.
The beet salad was like a couple of beets and some sprouts very disappointing. The mint julip was okay
The cafe has extended their outdoor dining to such an extent that it is not possible for two pedestrians, let alone a wheelchair, to walk along the narrow path of sidewalk they did not block off for their private use. I can not recommend supporting a restaurant that jeopardizes the health of the public in pursuit of private interests.
Stayed at W hotel for 3 nights and had 2 breakfast and 2 late lunch at Cafe du Parc. Mussels, avocado salad, crab cake, croissant, and desserts are all excellent! Love this place and will definitely go back when I visit DC next time!
Disgustingly overpriced for very poor quality food, I have never wanted to leave a review for anywhere I have been until now. Staff is very cold and pays little attention. Absolutely horrendous, I would love to see a critic tear this place apart.
Ordered Dijon and herb marinated chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten anything so fast! It was amazing! Tried my friend’s salmon and it was also so good! My group of 4 was very pleased with dinner and dessert. Service was friendly and informative! Would definitely dine again.
Good food but not much of anything for vegetarians. Wish chefs would get a bit more creative with vegetarian options.
Great food and great prices! Clean and lovely atmosphere.
I had a steak that had obviously spent alot of time in the freezer. My husbands filet was chewy and salty. Intercontinental Hotels.should NOT associate their name and brand with mediocrity! I gave it 2 stars because our server was a nice guy. If you want to eat in a cafeteria then eat here. If you want good food, stay away!
We stopped by here for brunch after touring D.C. all morning. This brunch place was inside the Willard Intercontinental Hotel. The hostess took us upstairs and sat us in a booth. The actual dining area was actually upstairs. The interior was a bit smaller than I thought.Service was excellent, that I had already expected due to the classy ambience of the brunch place. The staff was friendly and quick to answer our questions. We ordered three items off the limited menu. The food in my opinion was subpar. The brunch plate came with eggs, biscuits, sausage, and potatoes. Potatoes were crunchy and eggs were cooked just right. The smoked salmon and beet salad was a bit off because the smoked salmon had too much of a mushy feel to it. Portion was done right though. The scrambled tofu was kind of like a salad served in a bowl. I wasnt a fan of it.On the other hand, theres complimentary bread of all sorts to start off your meal. The price is on the expensive side but not surprising since its located inside a five-star hotel. Overall, it was a mediocre meal, but the service was friendly.
Fantastic spot. I’ve been coming here for years and the food and service is always spot on.
Nice place to sit outdoors but the food is quite average
Edit: it has now been about a month since my initial review. I followed up with the head chief as they responded to my review below. I wrote a detailed email to them and haven’t heard anything since! Goes to show that they might follow-up online for appearance but there is no real follow through.—We made dinner reservations for our 5th year anniversary, and unfortunately were underwhelmed at the food. We ordered a charcuterie board for our appetizer, and a burger and steak frites for our main entree, and broccolini as a side. The charcuterie board was one of the simplest we have seen, and the cheddar had white mold all over the slice (not the good kind of cheese mold). After alerting our waitress, she took the board back and brought us a new one. While I appreciate the board being replaced, I would have preferred at that point to have been asked if we wanted a new one or if we wanted the moldy one comped. Since we were not given the option, the new board went largely uneaten. The New York strip was one of the smallest and thinnest I have ever been served. I asked for it medium rare, and expected it to possibly be medium. Instead, I got mostly a medium well cooked steak. The taste wasn’t bad, but the meat was a bit grisly. The broccolini came out cold, and the taste was dominated by the garlic. After a bite each, it also went uneaten. The burger was good! But unfortunately my husband had gotten queasy after the disappointing appetizer and side dish, and had to excuse himself for the rest of the meal.We got a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, but unfortunately nothing else was comped for the meal. Overall the wait staff was very polite (hence the 2 stars vs 1) but the food was extremely disappointing. If we ever return to the hotel, we will go to Le Diplomate down the street for dinner.
The coffee is passable. It was bitter and frankly not worth the price. The pastry was interesting and delicious. Be prepared to pay $$$. This is a place for tourists and lobbyists. The food does nothing to elevate flavor or reinvent French classics. The menu is ordinary and overpriced. This is a place to be visited once. $32 for bouillabaisse? I dont think so.
I had a terrible meal. Hate to be a hater, but legitimately I would rather eat at Applebee’s. And that’s saying something
Had a beautiful cherry mousse with coffee in the afternoon, then went back for a delicious breakfast the next morning. Our waiter on the second floor was attentive and was able to assist my friend with gluten alternatives. Now thats what you call customer service. When in DC, make sure to stop in. Right next to the White House.
The service was actually quite good/quick and the waiter was very friendly, but the food was extremely underwhelming. I got the smoked salmon salad and besides that fact that is was so boring, it didnt even have everything on it that the menu listed.
Very eloquent, classy, high-end look and feel, but reasonably priced.
This is one of the best restaurants in DC, the manager was super attentive and made sure we were always taken care of. The onion soup is the best onion soup I have ever tasted in my LIFE! Their Salmon salad with balance dressing from scratch was amazing ❤️❤️
At stop the steal, this was the only place I could find a great cup of coffee, and croissant. Great service, good staff, good refreshments. Highly recommend!!!
Food was oily, expensive for what it is. Try another place
Superb!! The filet was melt in your mouth good with excellent seasoning. The staff was very attentive and professional. Will definitely return.
Great place for coffee, dessert. The outdoor seating is perfect, great architecture as well. One of the best places in DC.
Ate the breakfast buffet here with the family and loved it. I was initially put off by the $30 plus price for breakfast but I was happy later to have spent the money. Easily the best buffet eggs I have ever eaten along with a nice selection of other breakfast treats, including some great sausage. Now when I make eggs at home I am always trying to replicate the eggs from Cafe du Parc.
Caesar salad dressing tasted like bottle made. Desserts were meh. Drinks were well made. No or minimal childrens menu options ( pasta? ). Overall not impressive and wish we hadnt gone here and had made reservations elsewhere, but that was the only thing open. Outside looked beautiful and may have been better perhaps, but would have been chilly.
This place is unquestionably one of the best place in the region. Anytime I come to this place I am so glad. They keep their high standard service and the highest level of meals they serve. You surely will enjoy this this place. Very recommended.
Service was terrible..brings food with no silverware..wait forever for the bill.. Had breakfast lunch and dinner there due to all the restaurants being closed...Halibut was delicious, though.
I admire this restaurant! They have splendid dishes, they have a nice menu, The cook in that spot is very trained, I love a lot eating all their dishes. The dishes are always of high class, the service towards the visitors is agreeable. I go often to this place and I not even once was disappointed. I recommend it with no hesitation.
Great customer service and terrific food. Nice ambiance too. The French onion soup was amazing and the crab cakes were fantastic.
This is definitely one of the finest place to eat in the neighborhood. Every time I come to this place I am so happy. They maintain their high standard service and the highest level of dishes they serve. You always win with this place. Very recommended.
Stopped in for a quick coffee break, I only bought an americano so I cannot speak to the quality of the food but the drink was excellent.
Fantastic setting in great location with wonderful food & drinks.
Had lunch and dinner there during a week-long stay in DC, and both meals were superb. The place is a little pricey but the service, quality of ingredients, and ambience are definitely worth it. Had a lobster salad for lunch and was surprised by the large amount of shellfish in the dish. The mussels were also very good. Dinner was the cheese plate -- again a very generous portion -- and mushroom risotto. Worth every penny.
Love the bakery items for little coffee break here.
From the first moment you step in that restaurant the waiters give you a nice feeling. Very warm crew, it is a happy restaurant to enjoy with friends and colleagues or with your date. heavenly food, creative chief cook and stuff, honest cost and excellent service. Highly recommended.
We stepped inside while we waited for our tour bus. The lady was so kind and polite that helped us. It was a nice setting away from the cold. Its an old building that shows plenty signs of wear and tear, but has lots of character. We enjoyed a tasty pastry and cappuccino while we waited. Thanks for the friendly service.
This is my go to place for lunch. The food is fantastic. The location is killer. Eating outside along the Willard and White House is such a fun experience. I cant wait for the warm weather again to get a lobster roll and take in the afternoon here with friends or family.
Everything we ate was delicious! Staff was very efficient and friendly!
Food was terrible.Don’t waste your time and money.
Great service, atmosphere and food.
The food was great !
Great restaurant BUT while the construction continues over the next few months I would recommend you NOT try to sit in the street. The jackhammers and excavators totally ruined it...
Great atmosphere inside seating and outdoor patio. We sat outside. I had the tuna appetizer which was devine! And the short ribs...omg! My hubby had the french onion soup and the filet..wowzers!!
A great taste of France in the heart of DC. We found the food was fresh and well prepared. Not an extensive menu, but there is decent selection. New York Strip steak was a little tough, but the thin cut fries with just the right amount of seasoning was exceptional.
We had an outstanding lunch outside during this covid era. Everything was delicious, but the Mediterranean platter, salads, and deserts were standouts. Deepak was our wonderful server and quickly filled every table need. In truth, all the staff was very attentive.
Great staff, delicious food, impeccable service.
At the moment you enter that restaurant the stuff gives you a pleasant feeling. Very congenial team, it is a kind place to pass time with your friends or with your date. Great cooking, skillful chef de cuisine, modest pay and generous service. Highly recommended.
Used to offer better service. Ultimately good experience.
