I went in for a radiator repair and state inspection, got estimated at $800. Before I left the vehicle there, the front desk associate and mechanic tells me I need new brakes and 4 new tires in the amount of around $2,000, including the radiator repair. I told them just to do the radiator. When I picked up my vehicle, the bill went to around $986, more than I was estimated.Suspicious, I took my car to Honda on Pamelia (off bradley st), and got a state inspection for $21. Mechanics said my 4 tires were fine and my breaks were ok. I did an emergency brake test on a hill and did not roll. I called the manager at Bob Johnson Volkswagen and told him the situation, and asked why his employees were committing fraud. He made an excuse about my two front tires looking odd and then hung up on me when I asked him additional questions.If you value your money, do not go there as they will lie and try to get you into repairs you dont need.
Awesome experience at this dealership. I typically DREAD buying a new car because of the drama and BS that goes along with dealing with car salesman. I was thrilled to find that the stereotype did not hold water at Bob Johnson Volkswagen. I felt that I was treated, fairly, with respect and no pressure whatsoever. Shout out to our salesman, Danny Estal and manager Steve Hanson. I had never considered buying a Volkswagen and stopped on a whim on my way to another dealership and was sold. Highly recommend.
I came into Bob Johnson’s maintenance facility to inquire about my friend’s vehicle that had been in the shop for 5 months. My friend had been in the field at this point and said the vehicle should almost be done. So I come in and I’m greeted by one of the mechanics who was nice, friendly, and even offered to show me the literal progress on the vehicle. However, I was then pulled aside by the supervisor who was hostile and stand offish when I asked him about it. The way he talked just sounded like he wanted me out of there as soon as possible before I could get the correct information to relay to my buddy. Mind you, he knew I would be coming to ask about the car and had my contact info before my buddy went to the field. I even had my buddy’s method of payment to pay for him on any fee’s. But alas, I was pushed out of there quite rudely it felt. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend going to this facility for any maintenance on your vehicle.
If I could give less than 1 star, I would.Staff was very rude and stand-offish, they would never give me a direct answer to any of my questions, instead choosing to respond with oh, I dont know. They only picked up the phone half the time, and when they did, I would either be told I dont know, or if they were not in, be told they would call me back as soon as they got the chance, only for me to wait 2 hours, and have to call them back.The service took way longer than needed, took them 2 months to find the problem of my car, only to tell me, that once they got the part they needed in, it would be at least two weeks before they would be able to even get it into the shop and actually start working on it. This happened 3 times all together. And when they did have it in the shop, it seemed to me like they were treating it like a side project.Would not recommend this for any type of maintenance, even a wiperblade replacement, as, in my experience, I would have to clear up a whole week of my schedule.
This dealership is aweful to deal with, check engine light came on 2x in my brand new Atlas, in the first two weeks of owning it . I thought it had gotten fix the first time but no then it needed a new injector number 5,they had the part but didn’t put it in for days because they were busy !!!!!! BRAND NEW CAR !! Very hard to deal with the service department! Kept the atlas so they could only write one repair bill I feel I have a lemon and they don’t want to help me .

Amazing experience as always. Neal took care of me and got my car right in. Had an airbag, traction control, tire pressure and abs light on. They narrowed it down to a wheel bearing and got it fixed up for me as well as an oil change. Very satisfied, will continue to bring my car there!

I have nothing but Ill will for the experience I had at the dealership. It’s left me feeling frustrated as someone who has worked for several dealerships. I allocated time and facilitated a time to finalize the paperwork with the salesman. I was direct with what I wanted, I had asked if there was anything else I needed and he said no.I drive the hr and a half to the dealership and was told they don’t take personal checks, rather than making it easier for me and wiring the money they recommend I go to the bank instead to get a cashiers check. I wasted another half hour going to the bank. At that point I didn’t even want the vehicle.Hoping to put it past me on the drive home the following day the check engine light pops up, they cleared a evap code, I’ve been to the dealership 3x since, no follow up call asking how everything is from the salesman, just felt like a number. Will never do business with again.

I found the salesman I worked with (Walt) to be dishonest. A trip to the auto dealership is already a stressful and annoying prospect, but when they have a shady and dishonest salesman it makes it a real problem. I ended up with the deal that I had agreed to in the end, but it took an angry trip back to the dealership, and the real threat of me canceling the sale, to get them to hold up their side of the bargain. I would not recommend this dealership based on my experience. Hopefully the rest of their sales team are better.

My family vehicle died on a mountain road 500 miles from home and had to be towed 100 miles to the nearest VW dealership, which happened to be FX Caprara in Watertown. From the moment it entered their lot, the service manager Gerard was in constant communication keeping me in the loop. They truly took sympathy with our situation and went out of their way to get my vehicle serviced quickly, even though they were backed up and forced to operate at reduced capacity. They got us back on the road safely and as quickly as they could, and kept communication with VW of Americas corporate office throughout the process to ensure we were being taken care of from all sides. Highly recommend this dealership, especially their service department.

I had a positive experience purchasing a Golf Alltrack 2 years ago but a negative service experience and attempt to trade last month. The new Golf AC did not work, I had to bring it for service twice, I live 90 miles away! They did not fix it the first time, asked me if I knew how to put it on Max AC. Really? The wheels build up with so much snow there were weeks when I could only go 40mph until I learned to dig it out with broom handle.service response was to bring it in. I am not driving 90 miles at 40mph to get wheels cleaned. I attempted to trade last month, very curt response from sales person. So, I purchased a different car from a different dealer. I love the VW when it is summer. I will not go back to FX Caprara.

Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, much of what we do now is virtual and touchless. Hard to imagine not stepping into a dealership to purchase a brand new car.After a whole of research into makes, models, trim levels, options, I narrowed my search to a VW Alltrack SEL with 6spd M/T. The corporate VW portal is really cumbersome to search for specific inventory but I finally found the vehicle at FX Caprara. Their website is a lot easier to navigate and find particular models and options.I contacted the dealership and spoke with Stephen. Stephen calmed my anxiety of doing this all virtually and assured me that they have the experience having done this numerous times already.Once we settled on the price (their advertised price is extremely competitive and fair) and options, the application for financing was easily submitted online. Once we closed the deal, I spoke with Steve, finance manager, who reviewed all of the documents thoroughly. This was important since I didnt have copies of the documents in hand yet.Then came time for delivery. I happen to live four hours away from the dealership but planned to be closer in proximity but still a long distance from the dealership. We settled on a location, which was still 1 1/2hr away from the dealership for them to deliver curbside.The vehicle was is new and described condition. Stephen reviewed some of the features of the car that I may not have been familiar with and then carefully went through all of the documents.There was never a moment I felt pressured or rushed. Stephen responded quickly whenever I had questions via email or text. Stephen and Steve have both been professional and thorough.Given all of this was handled virtually and you arent able to familiarize yourself with the vehicle until after delivery, after-purchase care is important either with the sales rep or customer service rep. With that said, Stephen has been very responsive with the few questions that have come up after taking delivery and familiarizing myself with the car.
I bought my 3rd VW diesel car from FX. Their service has always been good, and Salesman Walt Young is a congenial fellow to do business with. My only complaint is that it took a month to get my Passat after I said I would buy it. Lots of excuses, i.e. people on vacation, etc. Overall, a good place to buy a car from.
Walt Young was an absolute perfect sales rep. It was the most stress free car purchase we have ever had. We left with my new Passat and no confusion, no unanswered questions. Terrible service. Was told my car would be done Friday wasnt done until Tuesday. Tried up charging me on the work. Now the issues they fixed are broken again & they tell me I have to wait two weeks to even get the car looked at. After two mechanics verified it was the part THEY replaced. So now I have no car to go to work for 2 weeks because of the quality service they give here .
I would like to say that I am very satisfied with the professionalism I received when I was interested in turning in my leased Chevy traverse and leasing a Volkswagen Atlas. We never even got a test drive! Wanted to talk to a mechanic about the engine but they had all left. We had never owned a VW so we had lots of questions but no one to answer them. The rear brakes barely made it through inspection. They failed to disclose it had been in an accident. Felt thoroughly rushed!
One of the worst dealership experiences ever. I will never buy another car from them nor have my GTI serviced or repaired there again. Just horrible to deal with. Lied to me on multiple occasions and almost made me pay a huge premium on tires.

I bought a 2015 Jetta from here in late December. I stressed to them before I bought the vehicle that new tires was a MUST since I would be traveling back and forth to Canton weekly. They insisted that the tires on the car were fine and that if they passed the 30 point inspection for a certified pre owned, they were going to be okay for the winter. Well flash forward 1.5 months, I have to put brand new tires on it because The original tires are spanked. They are worn well beyond the wear bar. The garage I brought my car to said it should not have passed any type of NYS inspection. I have also been waiting on a spare key since the day I purchased the vehicle. I feel like I was taken advantage of and the salesmen Anthony did not take me serious at all. I will most likely never buy another vehicle from FX.
Bought an Atlas S today from Neal at FX Volkswagen. Couldnt have had a better experience! I met with Neal who is the GM from start to finish. I had a certain budget in mind. Neal presented a couple different options and price levels but there was absolutely no pressure to buy anything more than what we could afford. I got a good trade for my 2012 VW and Neal beat the closest competitor out of Syracuse by a long shot making it a no-brainer. It is not often the dealership GM takes on a customer from handshake to handshake. From a happy return customer!

I worked with this dealership from Florida. My salesman was Stephen Loonan. I have never bought a car out of state or handled the entire process without going through another dealership. This was the easiest and most pleasant experience I have ever had buying a car. Everything that was promised to be taken care of was taken care of promptly. Stepehen worked with me so that I was comfortable trusting them. My car was driven from New York to Florida to save the extra cost of shipping. It arrived when it was supposed to and the car was exactly what I expected. I would not hesitate dealing with the dealership again.
Do not go here for services to your vehicle! Wait times for services are unreasonable!My vehicle has yet to be serviced after being there a month. I was told it was brought in for a diagnostic and needed work done, about a 3-4 hour task, and that I would be updated when they had finished. I called back a few days later and was told they had to work around other scheduled appointments, keep in mind my vehicle has been here over a month now and they are putting other vehicles ahead of mine. I called back a few days later just to be told that it was to be brought in for diagnostic, I asked why because it was already done and was told that they had no record of it being done. So they either dont keep up with paperwork or lie about doing maintenance. They never call back when they say they will.STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Advisors Lawrence and tech Jeff were booked fully on the Saturday morning that I was able to come in but they were somehow able to squeeze me in so I could get an oil change and tire rotation. We ran into an issue with the ladder on top of my car keeping Jeff from being able to change my oil so they brought it back to the service entry and Lawrence helped me bring my ladder inside. Then when Jeff was attempting to rotate my tires he notice I had locking wheel nuts which I did not have the key for anymore. I had to force them off in the past before and could have sworn I replaced them with normal lugs, but they were still definitely on the wheels. Jeff was able to hammer on a larger socket onto the lock then twisted off and replaced with normal lugs. Once done Lawrence and another employee helped me navigate my ladder out of the hall and load up on top of the car. The service team at FX Caprara Volkswagen went above and beyond and I’ll definitely be going back for service.

Bought a jeep here. The salesperson AJ Solis was very nice, not pushy. Everything else about this dealership is a nightmare. I told them constantly about the noise and issues with the front end and they ignored me or charged me to assess the issue which they claim they never found. I gave up and took it to a reliable mechanic that was highly recommended and almost $2k later, the struts, shocks, ball joints bad and been bad for a good while. The dealership just kept taking my money for assessing the problem at $100 a visit, gave awful awful customer service and never addressed the problem. Just kept telling me there was nothing wrong.
The best products, best location and best people, imo. Has to be one of your stops if in the market for a new ride

I helped my nephew who is a responsible person, buy a car from here. Bought all the extra warranties for this car. The clutch went to the floor at a stop sign and they will not honor the warranty. Mind you, this is a 2017 bought in May of last year. My nephew was away a good part of the year for basic training. He has put 28,000 miles going from State to state for duty. They want to charge him $2500 for repairs. Im appalled.
I love the car I bought, but ultimately received the worst customer service Ive ever experienced. Upon test driving my car, the GM pointed out a few minor flaws and confirmed he would have those taken care of if I decided to purchase the car. I let them know on a Monday that I wanted the car and would be back on Thursday to complete the sale. When I arrived, and after I had signed the paperwork, we discovered none of the issues had been addressed, and the interior had not been cleaned. They ofered to take $400 off the sale (which we appreciated as a compensation for our wasted time that evening) and they offered to address the issues and deliver it to us the next day in Syracuse.At 3pm the next day the salesperson called to let us know he couldnt find another driver to help deliver the car and asked if they could deliver the car the next day.I stated this was unacceptable and asked that he find a solution and let me know what time that evening I should expect the car, as I had already been inconvenienced by their lack of preparedness.Ultimately, the BEST solution the salesperson came up with was to get another one of their customers to drive my vehicle to me. Thankfully, this couple was very nice. But I was taken aback by the absurdity of the solution to put a complete stranger to me in my car and send them to my house. Again - I am thankful the couple was nice (obviously, they are kind people, who dont mind driving out of their way to deliver a car). But this delivery should have been completed by staff from the store.This is completely unacceptable customer service, and I am very disappointed. They treated me well essentially, until the sale was complete.
I took my Canadian vw gti to Caprara for a new timing chain.Most of the work was covered by the us warranty. The Canadian option was over $10,000.Overall the work was well done. Everything runs well and they took great care of me.
Will be moving at the end of the month but wanted to say I will miss having a reliable service place. From my experience work was of great quality and they never tried to “upsell” or talk me into repairs that didn’t need to be done. I’ll miss being able to bring my VW to this dealership for service.
After searching for weeks we settled on a VW Atlas. Problem was no local dealership nearby. We contacted three VW Dealerships and FX was the only one who made a true internet sale! Stephen L. contacted me by text and worked out the whole trade through text (and one quick phone call). When we arrived at dealership Stephen was there and had a the new car all ready. They took care of my family with an A+ service, they had to stay overnight, They lend them a car, the mechanic works overtime to make sure the car would be ready early the next morning .. just WOW.Too bad you guys are 4 hours from Montreal ... I would go there for service anytime. ... JUST AWESOME

Do not take your vehicle to Volkswagen Caprara for repairs. Customer support is unacceptable and supervisor not available to address your concerns. This will be the third time I have to bring my vehicle in for the SAME diagnostic. Excuses range from lack of expert mechanics to unavailable appointments. They keep your vehicle for long periods of times, they do not follow up, do not provide you with a loaner, and are rude when you seek a vehicle update. If you take your vehicle there expect the same issues and same outcome.

We had special ordered a very specific car from another dealer and it’s delivery had run into major delays and we couldn’t wait any longer. Just by chance, FX VW of Watertown had just taken in the exact model we had ordered. We arranged the sale over the phone with Stephen Loonan and made the 3 hour drive there to get it. We had no idea what to expect walking in to a dealer for the first time, but my interactions on the phone with Stephen left me confident.When we arrived they had the car plated, detailed and ready to go. The paperwork just needed signing and my wife was given the walk around and we were on our way in under an hour. When bringing a 5 and 6 year old along to get a car, a quick sales experience is a huge help!Steve Hanson was a straight shooter for financing and gave us no surprises or hidden fees or charges that would have changed the excellent price we were given over the phone initially.Throughout the experience everyone there was very polite and friendly and I would strongly recommend them and would gladly do business with them again!
Everyone at the VW dealer is very friendly. I took my car in for the annual servicing and state inspection. The service department completed the work much more quickly than I had anticipated.
Went in for a diagnostic on my car. Was told it was the Relay lever on my transmission that was bad. I had already checked this was not wrong so I asked to speak with the technician. He told me it was correct and he would show me. As he went to show me, he realized he was wrong and I was right. I ended up still paying almost $100 for it to be wrongly diagnosed. I have called twice since then to discuss what happened to try and work it out. They said theyd call me back Monday after I had called at least twice and did not receive one yet. This is very unprofessional and not what I expected from a dealership.
Theyll sell you vehicles with pre existing problems and fraudulently bill your warranty for them and take their sweet time servicing your vehicle when they finally take it in. (2 months) When your fixed behicle finally gets back to you and you immediately alert them of new issues they will get back to you asap only to wait a week and tell you youre lying about telling them right when you got it back. When you show physical proof of a text acknowledging the issue on their wnd weeks before youre told do not contact me again!!. Almost another month later Im still being ignored.

Great sales experience with Stephen Loonan. I traded in my Jeep (also purchased from FX) for a Jetta Sportwagen TDI - very friendly and professional. After I purchased there were a couple codes that came up and the service department was very responsive, but the 5 star rating is for my salesman. Its a big investment, and being able to trust the individual youre working with is huge.
Service would be a misnomer for the Service Department, very disappointed. I will take my vehicle to Burdick in Syracuse or Nye Volkswagon in Rome.

VW of Watertown provided excellent service during my most recent visit. Due to a mixup with appointment scheduling, I showed up on the wrong day (which may have been my fault - honestly we werent sure what happened). Despite the confusion, they still took my Passat in for the 80k mile service right away and had the work completed within 2 hours. They also fixed an airbag recall while it was in the shop. Everyone I dealt with took the time to say hello and make sure I was well taken care of.One thing to note is that there IS a diagnostic fee (which did not apply to this particular visit, but a previous one) so if you are unsure what is going on with your vehicle, this will apply if you take it into this shop. My former VW dealer in Massachusetts did not charge this fee so it was unanticipated during my first visit. However, as long as you know this going in and expect the expense, the great service is well worth making this your go-to VW dealer.

After a terrible experience at a very large & well known dealership close to Syracuse, I decided to stop by FX Capraras VW location. I am SO glad I did and wish I had gone there in the first place. They no longer had the Tiguan I originally spotted online but Walter Young sat down with me to show me some options. He went over everything and in great detail - answered ALL of my questions. We decided to have the dealership put in a bid for a 2013 Tiguan that was online for an auto auction having just come off lease. The entire process, from start to driving away with my new vehicle, has been a dream. I gave Walt my price and he was able to find a beautiful 2013 Tiguan SE within that range and with low, low miles. I couldnt be happier and highly recommend the dealership. Also, for those that are military, if you qualify, VWs in house financing has WAY better APR than USAA was able to offer. Definitely ask for Walt when you head in.
