Absolutely love this little store! If youre lucky and come at the right time, you can get goodies like fresh ramen noodles and a small selection of vegetables. Great selection and fair prices. Happy to have them on our side of the hill

After over a half century of service to the local Japanese American community (and others with a taste for Asian specialty foods), the Yamashita family has elected to take a well deserved retirement. They plan to close forever in July. They, and the market, will be missed!

Im glad its here but the inventory was pretty low. Im hoping they stock soon and get some more unique items. I usually drive to 99 or Lion market in San Jose. I would love to see more Char Siu and Pork Buns. Definitely more Dashi, noodles and DEFINITELY butcher/breakdown knives.

Dont judge by the look of the building or its location. The store is nicely stocked with Japanese ingredients and the people are very friendly and helpful. Since I like to cook Japanese dishes this was a great find.

Don’t let the location or appearance discourage you. It’s not fancy, but they have authentic Asian fish cake and fish balls.

Quaint family grocery store with Japanese ceramics, some canned and packaged from Japan food and snacks and fresh mochi sweets. By the way, they also have amazing hand made Japanese envelopes.

I thought it was going to be bigger with more inventory, but the shop is very small. I was able to get some good stuff from sushi rice, Japanese soy sauce, shrimp powder, dashi stock, pickled gourd and refrigerated fish for sushi. I will probably go back for more.

The first thing that jumped out at me was their selection of asian snacks. They have a nice variety of sweets and maybe 20 different types of wheat/rice crackers! As others have mentioned, they also have staples like wheat and rice noodles, pickled vegetables, canned and fresh fish, dried mushrooms, etc. And a bunch of flavors of furikake rice topping. Super friendly staff!
