After waiting a while for the prescription to be filled, I called the pharmacy, as I normally do, to see if it was ready to be picked up. Whoever answered the phone informed me that there was an issue with my medication, said the pharmacist would be contacting my doctor, & told me to call back tomorrow. Okay, not a problem. I wasnt thinking anything of it at that point because there have been times in the past when the pharmacist simply wanted to confirm everything with my doctor for insurance purposes. On 05/09/2018, I called the pharmacy around 11 AM to see if whatever the situation was had been taking care of. When I was told that nothing had been done because they were waiting for me to contact the doctor & then my doctor contact them back, I asked to speak to the pharmacist himself in hopes of getting to the bottom of the issue...My first question was why was I told he would be contacting my doctor if I was expected to? He had no answer for that. My second question was quite simple: Whats the problem with my prescription? The Pharmacists answer was, Im refusing to fill this prescription because the dosage is too high & you need to be weaned off of it. Say what now? My doctor has been prescribing this specific medication in this specific dosage for a reason. (Just a quick background into why Im on certain medications: I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which is a form of Muscular Dystrophy & I deal with chronic pain on a 24/7 basis because of complications that cant be corrected surgically.) Already being in pain & having my prescription delayed because the pharmacist decided to play doctor put me in a rather short & snappy mood to say the least, so I called my doctors office & explained what was going on to the nurse (she is such a sweetheart & always makes me feel better whenever I have questions or problems, but that going to be in a completely different review - with significantly more stars). This is when the situation becomes a bit comical, at least in my opinion. As I was telling the nurse that the pharmacist was refusing to fill my prescription because the dosage was too high, she started chuckling & without missing a beat asked the rhetorical question, Is he a Pharmacist or a Doctor? She then comforted me by saying, Hes not your physician & he isnt the one who has spent time getting to know you as a patient & a person. There is nothing to worry about because he cant dictate what the doctor wants you to take. About an hour later, she called me back to let me know that she had spoken with the pharmacist & wasnt impressed, but the situation had been taken care of. My doctor called the pharmacy himself & within 2 hours of that happening, I had my prescription & finally some relief from the pain (the pain is never completely gone, but tolerable most of the time with proper medication).Always Look on the Bright Side: Even though it can be quite frustrating when someone with a certain job tries (using the word tries very loosely) to do a different job in which they have absolutely no business doing, being persistent pays off. We, as customers, dont have to simply accept the answers given to us, ESPECIALLY when it comes to our health & well-being.*Please Like this review if you find it helpful*
I really like the Walmart pharmacy and I am going to pickup my prescription as soon as it opens tomorrow.
I love them. Been getting my medications, my childrens, and so forth for almost 4 yeara now. Never an issue, and usually ready in abouy an hour. (So to the person complaining about an hour, its an HOUR! Considering how many meds they have to fill on a daily - which Im sure is A LOT - Id say they work rather quickly and efficiently at getting ur meds out!)Also, the pharmacist sounds like he was doing HIS job, as well. He went to school to know proper dosage of certain meds, and how much is TOO MUCH, and so forth. And just like the snappy know-it-all stated in a previous comment, dont always except the first answer - which sounds like, what the pharmacist was doing. Based off of his training and schooling in the field of meds, and correct dosage, and what not, it sounds like the pharmacist wasnt going to not question concerns about the dosage with the doc. Sounds like the pharmacist was doing just that! His JOB!
Lady working counter very rude at Walmart super center on Lucy lane in Waynesboro Virginia. Plus has her name tag turned backwards.
Poor service and it takes an hour for a prescription to be filled no matter if it’s called in by a doctor or yourself or even if you take it in there . So 15 minIs not so at least not for my family
I very rarely use them but havent had any problems when i did
