Great atmosphere, Live entertainment, with a melow vibe. Great latte and latte art! I really enjoyed my visit to this coffee shop!👍🏽👍🏽awesome! ☕
Great vibe. Amazing coffee and hot chocolate. Worth the trip every time.
Beautiful little cafe with delicious coffee and great outdoor seating. I love the welcoming ambience. It was busy yet we could find a nice place to sit in peace. I bought fresh roasted coffee to take home and it did not disappoint!
Just okay. The coffee was good, not great. Also got a breakfast sandwich. It just wasnt good. It was on an English muffin that was raw. Why? English muffins are supposed to be toasted. Theyre gross raw. YMMV, but Ill go elsewhere.
Best coffee around. This is a real coffee shop with people who know how to make an espresso, a pour over and everything in between. Good breakfast sandwiches make this our go to spot when we are in town or passing through like we were this time.
Perfect location with outside and inside tables. Yummy coffee and food. Lots of options including Gluten free! Busy but staff was quick and very friendly. Definitely will return to try more variety.
The coffee is just okay in my opinion. The beans are very pricey, even for locally roasted beans, and both times I’ve been there the most recently roasted beans for sale were roasted almost 2 weeks prior. For a premium price I’d prefer very fresh beans. It’s $15-17 and you don’t even get a full pound. They come in 12oz bags. The espresso I’ve had there is good but is lacking that extra touch that I have come to expect from local roasters. No crema and a rather uninteresting flavor profile, although not offensive in any way. You’re probably better off going elsewhere.
Not sure why this cute little gem in Westerville Ohio wasn’t on the original Columbus coffee trail, but it really should have been! My husband and I decided to go for coffee on Saturday morning and yeah we could’ve went to Starbucks but we wanted to try something different. A simple search for “best coffee near me“ and Java central popped up. Pastries, cheesecake, breakfast sandwiches, and oh yeah, they actually serve some pretty darn good coffee as well! It’s a nice, quaint, Java experience in small town central Ohio. So, if you are ever in the Westerville area, please by all means do yourself a favor and stop by Java central. You won’t be disappointed!
I absolutely love this coffee shop!!It is a quaint shop and has amazing coffee! I have had the Buckeye Iced Mocha and the Iced Carmel White Mocha (I think thats the correct name). Both with almond milk. And both are AMAZING! I went into another coffee place in Westerville...took one sip of my iced coffee and made a u-turn into Java Central!I have lived in Westerville for nearly ten years and a few weeks ago was my first time visiting. Wish I had gone sooner! They should definitely be added to the Columbus Coffee Experience!Staff is friendly. I love that I can have my receipt text to me! They were following COVID guidelines and I felt comfortable and safe! For those with disability accommodations (wheelchair, walker, etc.) there is no step to come in. But as soon as you come in there is a table with goods on it that would make it difficult for someone in a wheelchair to maneuver around. There is off street parking around back, but the walkway is cobblestone, so that may prove difficult for someone in a wheelchair or walker. I did not dine in, but there seems to be nice sitting spaces, to sit and read, study, or enjoy your coffee.Ill definitely be back... probably some time this week!
Great coffee! Great service! We were able to listen to live music on this visit, too. It was such a nice time
Amazing coffee, food and service. Cannot recommend this place enough. Environment is awesome as well.
Calm and cozy cafe.Wide variety of espresso drinks. Buckeye latte was amazing as usual.Lots of bakery items and sandwiches as well, chicken salad on croissant and blueberry coffee cake were delicious.Plenty of space available for group work or even individual studies.Ambience Quite different when compared to that of regular cafes.
Always excepcional (family like) service. Love going every time because everyone makes you feel so welcome.
I’ve been coming here for years. It’s such a chill spot, tightly tucked away in a vibrant and alive community. The coffee shoppe serves your typical java selection, latte art included. The service is fast and friendly. There are plenty of chairs, tables, and couch type seating inside; which helps when meeting with friends for a chat or doing homework while sustaining your java-drip. There’s frequent live music acts and plenty of seating outside for when the weather warms up.This is where I usually meet my friends before we start our shenanigan, java fuelled day. 😅
This place is everything a coffee shop should strive to be. The staff are friendly, The food menu is great, and of course the drink menu. But if you are a lover of chai lattes this is the place for you. Hands down the best chai Ive ever had!
This is my regular spot to get coffee beans for home. Love it.
This rating is strictly for the hot chocolate; please note, this rating does not regard any of the other products that may be sold at this shop. My family went specifically for the hot chocolate and it was not the quality we prefer. It did not have a chocolatey taste, and was some what comparable to nothing more than warm milk.
I love this place for its coffee, the atmosphere and the fact that they have live events every weekend.Love this place!!!
Great coffee shop in Westerville. The staff is friendly and happy to assist from the owner to the baristas.Check out their nitro cold brew, its smooth, but still has the robustness a pure brewed coffee should have. They brew coffee in house from Puerto Rico, Columbia and several other countries where one of the owners travelled to see their processes and build relationships with the growers first hand and ensure that they recieve the profits vs some third party Corporation. They have live music frequently and support an array of local artists and charities.Definitely a chill spot to go and see.
Nice quiet coffee shop that is leaps and bounds above the national chains.
$32 For a sandwich and 2 coffees.. little pricy..was good but 9.50 for an iced Chai..
The atmosphere is pretty calm, cozy, and quiet. The place is pretty cute and nice to hang out in. Theres plenty of room, private WiFi, Uptown parking, and a decent amount of choices to choose from. Some of the downsizes are the prices, the flavor, and the lack of AC. It was so hot the day I came in, but there was no air conditioning. You can also sit outside on the side patio! The staff members are very friendly and accommodating.I recommend this place for groups, casual dates, quick coffee, and a quick bite. Theres not super special about this place, but it has a very neighborhood feel, which I like.
I love the coffee & the breakfast sandwiches are amazing!
Nice spot to enjoy a coffee. Friendly staff and lots of space to sit and read or chat with friends.
Wonderful atmosphere for a relaxing morning. My boyfriend and I decided to add this on a stop for our “Treat Ourselves Sunday.” Not disappointed in the least.
Horchata is delicious. But eveything is. Great staff, and they have the schedule of live entertainment posted.... Great product
This is one of the most comfortable places to enjoy coffee, tea and quick snacks in the community. People are friendly, there are cozy nooks and chairs as well as tables. They also have Friday venues for new performances. Open mike returns on February 1.Inside is full of local art & great people.
Went randomly for an open mic night to see a friend perform and saw much more than my friend. They have cozy seating arrangements, bring out great local talent, and oh do try the confections!
This is my favorite coffee spot in town. Sadly, I dont get there as often as I would like as I work nights. Only downside is their large is still kinda small.
I love this place! Their coffee and tea lattes are top notch! I am particularly fond of the cinnamon chai latte. They have a decent menu for breakfast and lunch and also carry a wide variety of baked goods from different local bakeries., including items that are gluten free and/or dairy free. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful.
Java has QUALITY local coffee and eats, the friendliest staff who are well-versed in their trade, and an array of seating options for whatever mood youre in (including outdoor seating in an open veranda style by their brick alleyway).
Wow, terrible, over priced espresso. Not sure I understand all the great reviews. You’re still forced to wear a mask. Won’t be back.
Awesome coffeeshop in Uptown Westerville!First time I have had a chance to stop in. They had live music for the first time out on their back patio (String Theory), and very very friendly staff... with an excellent frozen mocha!!They support their community in many ways, and it was a great pleasure to stop in 👍
This place was so cozy and inviting! The best lavender cold brew Ive had. I posted a pic of the lavender honey latte I had too! And little gifts to buy and had a fabulous panini! But even better was how friendly and caring the crew was! Definitely a place worth visiting!
Disappointing. The staff used to be B+, now unfortunately they’re D-. Going to any restaurant, there’s an understanding that COVID risk exists. We complied with regulations, wore a mask in, I’m not opposed to masks at all. However, the nature of a restaurant is being able to order something, then open your mouth and eat food. We ALL know what we’re getting ourselves into. Being interrupted in the middle of eating, being asked to put a mask on while eating is really obnoxious and at the very least, notify us upfront of the expectation. Don’t be rude and butt in.
Great! Cute, adorable, amazing! Mildly expensive, but reasonably. Its worth it. And they often have live music!
Bought two bags of beans, one (pour over Costa Rican) tasted and smelled moldy. The other (espresso) was fine. Expensive coffee and should not have had this issue.
12 Oz. Grasshopper, Hot. Extra shot of espresso, Almond Milk. You cant go wrong. Charming coffee spot with sneaky good breakfast sandwiches.
The best place in Westerville for high quality coffee. Every time I visit, the staff is mixed; sometimes the baristas are kind and welcoming, other times they are cold and dismissive.I liked purchasing their whole bean coffee bags. Its twice the price of grocery coffee for the same amount, but I definitely got what I paid for: quality. Unfortunately some rocks made their way into my bag last purchase. Luckily, I discovered these while using my cheap hand grinder as I imagine this would have damaged an electric grinder. Im on the fence about buying coffee beans here again as a result but thought I should share this experience with the business in hopes they can avoid ruining their own equipment.
What more could you ask from a local coffee shop? Their coffee is roasted in house. The owner goes on coffee buying trips personally. They support local artists giving them a place to display and perform! HUGE supporters of their community. Did I mention the best coffee in Columbus!GREAT LOCAL BUSINESS!
Great staff, great coffee and more room inside than I expected.
Today 09/16/20 was my first visit and loved it immediately after tasting my first sip of Caffe Latte. Also got Caramel macchiato and Hot Chocolate and my family loved them. Will definitely visit again and would strongly recommend this place for Cafe Latte!
Seriously THE BEST latte Ive had so far! And they have vegan doughnuts on the weekends and other sweet treats throughout the week!
Enjoyable environment to drink coffee, talk with friends and listen to live music.
Amazing coffee and the most friendly staff. Not from the area and had to stop in and check them out! I will definitely be making the 2 hour trip back!
Such a fun atmosphere and great coffee.
We recently relocated to Westerville from San Antonio, where we loved supporting local coffee shops and exploring all the awesome options. I like that we can walk here, and the coffee is decent. That said, I almost never feel welcome when I walk in and can think of one single experience where the barista wasn’t rude or dismissive. Westerville has been such a lovely and friendly place to move to, so feeling unwelcome in a local coffee shop really stood out and I was shocked to see so many positive reviews yet wanted to echo those noting a similar experience.
Highly recommend the frozen Grasshopper mocha!
Relaxing and clean coffee shop with a comfy vibe. My coffee and friends hot chocolate could have been hotter.
Food was good. I agree on an earlier post with being to strict on the Covid guidelines.
Fantastic coffee and great atmosphere!
Vanilla bean iced speciality coffee is delicious!
Delicious coffee, great atmosphere!
This has been my favorite café in Columbus, but their implementations of the Covid-19 policies have ruined the experience of going there. An employee told me to put on my mask while I had an English muffin in my mouth and was chewing it. Another employee told me to put on my mask while I was sipping on my coffee. I am not an anti-masker and I respectfully wore my mask while entering and at times where I was finished with my coffee. These are reasonable actions in this time of a pandemic, but asking people to put their mask on and off repeatedly while eating or drinking is too much. Truthfully I believe that no restaurants or cafés should be open in order to stop the spread of the virus because anytime we have many people gathered in a building with masks off we are increasing the spread. However, America has done such a poor job at decreasing the spread and we have chosen to let businesses like Java Café remain open. So it is best for this business to either remain closed/be takeout only or loosen up and allow customers to enjoy conversations and their coffee within the building. By choosing to have dine in, the store owners should own the fact that Covid-19 will likely spread, but allow the experience of customers to be satisfactory without employees constantly asking us to put our masks on while we eat and drink.Besides that, they have a really lovely lounging area and multiple rooms. Those rooms were closed the last time I visited, but hopefully they will reopen them.
Joni, the manager, and her staff catered my small wedding with such artful perfection. They went above and beyond! It was an informal yet beautiful day and they took such great care of our guests. Each person had their coffee and teas poured to perfection and their food served with such care.Joni took great care to sit with me and talk about food allergies and what type of brunch we wanted. We are so impressed and happy with her. She’s thoughtful, considerate and fantastic in her store and in her catering. Well done!
Great staff always super friendly :) all the drinks I’ve tried thus far have been fabulous!!
Too much voices makes me feel not security to walk in. I used go there but now I stop going after today. I rather to keep low profile public so we dont know who people are.
The Uptown Mocha is my favorite! There is one particular barista that is always unpleasant when I go in. It was a busier day and when she placed my drink down she didn’t say my name just the order. I wasn’t sure if anyone else had ordered that drink so I hesitated. This seemed to annoy her and she rudely pointed out it was mine. I’m not sure why the name in asked if won’t be called.
Great environment and even better specialty drinks!
It was nice!
Delicious cold brew that was given to me despite showing up after closing hours. I didn’t realize the business was closed, but the friendly staff offered to make me coffee anyways. They even have a lovely outdoor courtyard to drink the coffee in. I will be returning!
This is a great place to get coffee and spend sometime. I love the size of the seating area both inside and out. The staff is amazing! They were so helpful with my fiance picking out an iced tea. They are also very knowledgeable about their product. The owners themselves are amazing people. We love to visit here as often as we can.
Great coffee and live music! I go to see my friend Luke Mossburg there all the time. Highly recommend
Friendly staff and creative drinks. Almost always have gluten-free and vegan options for food and snacks.
Great place. Sat and listened to Christmas music and Great coffee
Coffee is phenomenal and the pastries are delicious. Much like other less than 5 star reviews, Ive found that certain baristas are rude and dismissive. The products are top notch, but if you go in and get treated like a hindrance, its not worth it.
One of my favorite lattes. Awesome environment
My favorite coffee shop! The best food and drinks in town. The only coffee shop Ill go to. Such a cute shop and chill vibe! I always go here on sundays and it never disappoints. Best chi tea late Ive ever had!
I love the frozen buckeye mocha. Ive been going to Java for years, lots of good memories.
Really enjoyed my coffee, quick and friendly service. I purchased a regular latte, could have been a little warmer but was made very well and had great flavor. My child got an iced vanilla bean latte and it had a great flavor to it, but didnt want to drink the last bit due to the vanilla texture at the bottom.Shop could use some work, for the location I suppose I expected it to be nicer looking inside. Chairs were frayed and tables not so clean looking, parts of the paint on the walls were broken off.Tons of people in there for a Sunday, so it is a popular place just could use some updates to go with the coffee.
Cute atmosphere but the espresso was just ok and the barista was rude. She sighed loudly at me as I was backing out the door with m stroller and then she proceeded to step over it, And my baby was in it! A sign at the counter said be kind or come back when you can be. That should go for the employees as well! She was not nice.
Great coffee, fast service, wonderful ambiance.
My happy place! I’ve introduced many of family/friends here who have fallen in love! This place is unique and unlike any other coffee shop I’ve personally been to, (which is a lot). The choices are personalized with fun names instead of the boring basic ones. Perfect for sitting outside with lots of shade!
Love coming here very family friendly
Cute fun little downtown Westerville coffee shop.
Lets get serious about coffee for a second. This place has the coffee you want. From drip to pour-over to cold brew to espresso - they have it all! You want a cold brew and you want a little extra cream? Done. You like your coffee black and rich? Theyll do that, too.For the coffee haters out there: they have tea, iced tea, and hot chocolate as well. They staff are friendly, and although they joke around, they take the coffee serious. This place has many cozy nooks and crannies within. Perfect for studying, meeting someone new, or catching up with good friends!
Nice cafe with tasty drinks. A little pricey but that seems how all coffee shops are.
Amazing customer service. They always know me, know my order.
Java central is the cutest place to drink coffee. The staff is very friendly and the coffee is great too. They have gluten free baked goods, which are delicious. They have regular baked goods too, I cant speak to how they taste but they look good!
Great place
They always have vegan treats available, and their grasshopper mocha is a personal favorite. I go back often, and now living even closer to them is a better reason to frequent.
Good coffee, exelent service and relax atmosphere.
The best.
Great coffee, cozy atmosphere. It can get a little loud at times inside but it does have a cute patio area. Service was quick and attentive as well as friendly.
Very overpriced. $5+ for a scone. $3-4 for a cup of tea or drip coffee. The place feels very run down, kind of dive-y. I just think its too expensive for the type of atmosphere it has. Too bad. Its in a great location and hosts cool events at times.
Love the coffee and the live music. There seems to be something for everyone every night of the week. Quite trendy for the college crowds.
