Terrain has been one of our favorite for brunch thanks to upscale and natural atmosphere and reasonable food. We felt comfort and satisfaction with bruch experience. That positive feel was shattered after surprisingly disappointing dinner yesterday. My wife looked at their dinner menu and wanted to try it out. Result was a spectacular disaster. I ordered a seared tuna and my wife did a some beef. Mine came out very dry with, surprisingly little taste. It tasted not seasoned at all. And it was so dry, felt like cooked a day before! My my wife’s food wasn’t as bad as mine but wasn’t good either. Hers came out less warm and little taste. It is not a cheap restaurant but we were too disappointed to finish our foods. We gave up ordering a dessert. We came back home hungry and cooked a dinner by ourselves. What an anticlimactic dinner was.Reason I gave two stars is their bread tastes very good.My recommendation is you may try a brunch but definitely not a dinner.

I had to leave a review because the hostess, Jennifer was so amazing. I’ve worked in the service industry, and it can be pretty tough during the holidays, but Jennifer was so patient and kind. She helped us move our reservation and get a table outside for brunch. Excellent, friendly, customer service.

I think this is the best indoor plant store / garden center I’ve ever been to! (they have an outdoor section but I didn’t go there today.)I don’t know a ton about plants, but there were so many things I’ve never seen before. the whole place is this beautiful boho style jungle, and they don’t just have plants, they have candles (better smelling than bath and body works imo), soaps, body scrubs, lotions, and even dishware and stuff. they have cute little fountains inside and the ambience is great. I would say it’s a bit pricey but I am a broke college student and plants are expensive anyways. they do have a deal where their mini succulents are $5 each which is pretty great! they have everything, every kind of live plant small and large, and even pressed flowers and dried grasses.here’s a pic of the plants I bought for my room, they’re so cute :)

I recently moved to Connecticut and was excited by the vibe and merchandising of the store. I was not aware of the poor quality of the plants; Ive never had a house plant die within a week of purchase. Apparently, this is a known issue with their products because ALL of my new neighbors have told me they experienced the same results. My advice to Terrain is to purchase higher quality products that will last and you will have clients coming back for years. Or allow people to return their dead plants within a week or so. I do not recommend purchasing plants from this store.

Perhaps my favorite store. I can go here to get ideas for all the seasons. As a gardener, they have the best selection of perennials and garden tools. During the holidays, it is the place for holiday inspiration. If you have time, it is a beautiful place for lunch in their garden cafe.

Was looking forward to visiting for a while, after I discovered their website.Cafe staff wouldn’t seat us because we didn’t have reservations, even just for coffee. At 9:30 when the cafe was empty, that was annoying. At 10 (when the first photos were taken) one other table had showed up. By 10:30 (the third) photo, it was not half full. Hard to see that as other than actively unaccommodating. As a customer it was irritating. The nursery staff were helpful and friendly. It’s beautiful inside, but organized as a home decor store with a maximalist aesthetic instead of the calm aesthetic of its website.

Definitely a fun place to look around. Plants seemed quality although many not well taken care of. Biggest issue is many plants were literally 5 times more expensive than a normal local nursery. So look closely and pick up the plants that arent wildly overpriced.

This is one of my favorite stores of all time. They are a sister store to Anthropologie, and their selection of home and garden goods are exceptional. I do miss the jewelry they used to sell, but I get it. If you visit the store you HAVE to eat at their cafe! In visiting the store over the last several years, every single meal has been perfect. The staff is always very friendly, and very knowledgeable on their plant selection. Visiting this store is a total sensory experience. Its a must-see during the holiday season!

My questions were dismissed about care and maintenance by the women in that area. RUDE RUDE Rude.Went the week before for a beautiful Silvertip Christmas Tree and young guy in yard was helpful, positive and knowledgeable. Also got overcharged for a few items and decided not to point it out because it’s Christmas.Never again Terrain, you lost a customer for life.

Definitely a great display and beautiful greenhouse. Some great ideas, some oohs and ahhs. It has its own charm. But the downside is, it was like walking into the ikea greenhouse. I’ve seen this ambience, plenty lately. I suppose I expected a bit more artsy feel but instead I felt I was back in napa valley, CA ready to order a $20 coffee and $11 vegan muffin. I just couldn’t reach into my pocket deep enough, to fill the urge.

Terrain used to be my happy place...unfortunately because of the rudest manager in the history of “customer service” I can no longer shop at the Westport location. The first incident was back in June right after they reopened after lockdown. The first place I wanted to go was my dear Terrain. I was looking for a topiary and found some near the back is the store..while I am selecting one a gruff salesperson yells at me and said I wasn’t supposed to be back there..mind you there is no sign or rope of any kind, then to get away from her scolding I started to walk away and she again yelled at me! Apparently you are longer allowed to walk through the cafe? These don’t sound like big issues but I think you had to be there to see her tone and total rudeness. I swore would never return! So fast forward to today...after a couple months to get over it I figured maybe that lady was just having a bad day bc if covid and it was a one time thing and I shouldn’t let it keep me from my favorite store....so I called the store yesterday to see if an item was in stock and was told it was..I gave the sku and confirmed they had 3...so I drive 30 minutes only to find out they have zero! I inquire with a salesperson to see If maybe they were in the back and she summons “the manager” and lo and behold look who it is! The super rude lady is actually a manager. I tell her my dilemma and she basically blames me and doesn’t even apologize even though I was either lied to or her staff was incompetent. Either way a complete waste of my time. Apparently she is rude all the time? How is a person like this allowed to work in customer service?

SHAMEFUL OF TERRAIN!!!i have shopped at the store many times and usually have a bit to eat too. today i was there with a friend and after we completed our shopping, we looked forward to a wonderful lunch. we went to the host station and was informed the they were still serving. we were escorted to a table. the hostess gave us menus and told us the server would be right over. the restaurant was not busy and there were servers in 2 small groups chatting. a table close was being served and we foolishly assumed that we would to greeted shortly. nothing happened. this is not what we are accustomed to happening. after 12 minutes we decided to leave. nobody came after us to see if there was a problem. this is not acceptable behavior in a westport restaurant! in all good conscious, i can not recommend this establishment as a decent place to eat. they showed no respect to their customers!! SHAME ON THEM AND ALL THE THINK THEY ARE!!!!! macdonalds is a better choice. no chance of disappointment there!

Bring a warm coat if it’s cold outside. The cafe ( and store) is poorly insulated and very drafty. I’m not someone who usually feels cold but Terrain won the prize for chilly. While the wait staff is well trained and very efficient, and the food OK, it’s not worth the cold. Many ate in coats and kept rubbing their hands together; it wasn’t because the food was so tasty. The menu lacks depth and tries hard to be inventive. The problem is Chef gets close but no prizes are awarded for thin mushroom soup, whose closest competitor is boxed mushroom broth; a burger that is served without anything but a slice of thin cheddar ( could have come from Kraft slices) and OK fries; and on and on. The food just misses. The decor is well done and seductive and the noise level modest due to the high ceiling. But, it’s definitely a missable experience.

The food & coffee is good, but pretty overpriced for what it is. $20 for a breakfast plate that would be $7 at the diner... you’re definitely paying for the view. Our server rarely checked on us, spoke really fast & I had asked for a box, but she was already walking away & didn’t hear me. However, it is beautiful on the inside. The plants on their own are reasonably priced, but if you want them already built into a terrarium or arrangement, pretty expensive. Cool jewelry. I can understand why the merchendise is more expensive, but there’s really no reason for the food to be that much.

Parking is as impossible as the prices but when I do buy plants here they are very special. I couldn’t justify the $58 poinsettia in a 10” pot, or some of the other small overpriced live goods... but when I do splurge I appreciate the good health and exotic nature of the plants you can’t find in big box stores. I don’t eat here or buy knick-knacks, just plants shopping!!

I was so excited to come here, and had waited over a year as it was a bit over an hour drive for me. The store itself is very impressive and looks like a photo from pinterest. The lunch on the other hand....We were sat at a community table. Not a problem, until we found out there are awkward placed bars that require you to sit very close to the other people at the table. We ordered Avocado toast, a flatbread pizza and cheeseburger with 2 drinks each. The total came to $150 for lunch. I dont think Id necessarily mind that, however the food itself was very lack luster . the description on the menu was more impressive than the appearance or Its taste. Overall, nice environment. Good music selection (fits the vibe), delicious drinks. But in my opinion overpriced for the size of the size and flavor.

Very crowded and loud. We could barely hear each other. Pumpkin soup was bland, no flavor or spices. Kale salad was small and had 6 thin shavings of pear and hard ( not roasted long enough) butternut squash. We also had meat appetizer with butternut squash where the squash on that was not edible as it was so hard and under baked. Cauliflower sandwich was very good. Certainly not worth 65.00 for lunch for 2 people!! Will not go again. Plenty of awesome places to dine at out there.
