Great place! One of the main city attractions! The market-legend, the real history of Odesa. Being in Odesa we always visit it to buy some fish or seafood. As well there are vegetables, fruits, berries, herbs and different stuff - Pryvoz is large. Do not miss a chance to visit it, to go through fish rows to see different fish and to see and talk to local women selling it, this is the must, so authentic! But do not mix new Pryvoz with the old Pryvoz - located at the same place they are very different. The monument to Auntie Sonya is located at new Pryvoz (see photo for monument, the entrance is under blue letters), this one is not so authentic and rather standard. You should find the old Pryvoz (see on photo - the entrance is under the white arche with black leters) - ask somebody there for the way.!!!And be careful - keep eyes at your pockets and bags, there are a lot, really a lot of pickpockets, as at every market.
Privoz is the real Odessa with its sellers and customers. You can find any kind of food and clothing items and even more. It is huge but easy to navigate. Even though some people in downtown Odessa may warn you about petty thefts and similar things, it is a safe place as long as you think and act prudently.
When I stumbled unexpectedly the first time I flipped a lid. This place is brimming with life, spices and buildings separate to each other for different markets. There is a building for dried meats, one for seafood with fish jumping waiting to be purchased, its endless and you need a full day to just walk and look before you would even consider buying anything its that overwhelming. I since found out that this market is famous throughout the whole Soviet Union. It is an absolute must.!!!
I mean, it just a market whats to get excited about? Well to be everything! Its huge, has everything I grazed to sausage area as as soon as I got close and said что это? They would cut me some. It worked as best I have ever tasted and bought loads! Also fish, clothes, veg, cheese, electrics. You get the idea.I wander in for 2 mins and was there 2 hours
If you come here it is a bustling market in the old part of town. Sells almost anything. Sellers helpful. Lots of twists and turns. Not suitable for wheelchair users. Be prepared to get lost.....
A wonderful market, very big. For those who love Ukrainian food and goods at Ukrainian prices (not touristic prices). A colourful place to visit
There is hardly anything you will NOT find at Privoz market. Fruits and vegetables mouthwatering. Vegans better skip the meat hall.
Good Place For Marketing, Better Price and Affordable ❤️ . Must Visit !!
The market looks very interesting the products are just amazing! Fish, meet and much more!
Amazing market.the best place to go and get whatever food you need.they are very organized and have separate areas for different type of products; beef, pork, lamb, chicken, dairy, cured goods, honey.you can expect to get the best prices here and goods youll not find anywhere elseI was able to get some fresh from the cow milk here for 50 cents a liter, it was great.
Beware! Pickpocket thieves here! As we were crossing the street someone tried to open our bag and managed to unzip the zipper, thankfully we reacted and kept our wallets. As for the market it’s ok, nothing too special.
Good place to buy fresh vegetables fruits and many more things. Must have to visit
The place is big but the choice is limited - most steelers repeat the same asortment. Prices also are not worth the trip
Not the best experience as a market BUT Definitely worth to see as a hystoric place of Odessa with unique atmosphere there ❤️
Not a place for foreigners! Its over(crowded), wild and chaotic. But if you look for a unique local experience you should visit this place. Not for buying but for the experience. However, if you feel like improv8ng your russian when negotiating prices, try yourself on the field. If you make it there, youll make it everywhere
Hello people of the world, there are great men and women at this market, low price goods and commodities, its a good market
An absolutely must see and must be in Odessa. This place is full of people - locals and tourists (you can chat with locals, since they are talkative). You can buy here absolutely everything - exotic fruit, spices, seafood, as well as local ones- fresh watermelons, grapes, tomatoes. What is not nice about this place is the smell in the place where meat is.And the worst thing is the fact that majority of stalls closes around 5PM, and theres information that its working till 7PM.
This is place where you can feel the spirit of ordinary odessa/Ukraina. Normal People, a lot of vegetables, cheeses, meat, Fish, Booz and Granat Juice
Very large traditional market. Very cheap stuff but very crowded. I wont go there again.
And absolute must go...privoz thats the stomach of odessa, full of ompressions. Fish, spices fruits, vegs.. and the matkez women who know how to earn.
You can find good items at cheaper rate.
If Odesas heart is Deribasivska str, then Privoz is its stomach. not pleasant everytime but crucial for the city. local culture
Good ... everything u can get
Huge market. From food to clothing items can be purchased here. Most of the food items from various sellers were found to be fairly fresh with sometimes price differences for the same item depending on the seller. If you are not in a hurry you can save a bunch by taking time to look all over the market before making a purchase. Inside the market was fairly clean however, some of the streets surrounding the market were littered with refuse that definitely was an eye sore with attention quite needed. In all it was a decent market with different boutiques and restaurants in the surroundings.Update July 30th, 2021:As an update to my earlier review, a lot has changed in terms of surroundings and stalls added to this market. The changes are remarkable and actually beautify the market! The Tram tracks and stops had been replaced and now its like night and day compared to what it was when I first wrote my review. Kudos!
Tight, messy, inexpensive (specially if you bargain), etc.I like this kinds of markets.I found it friendly and it has everything.Highly recommended it.
Huge bazar ! You may find everything you need there !
Nice market for vegetables, spices and meat
Huge outside and inside market. You can buy anything and everything here. Spent hours here. Bought a towel, mobile phone charger, belt, flip flops, pomegranate juice, water. Sunglasses and reading glasses and electric cable extension. Kept on coming back just to see everything. Friendly people, very interested in where I was from
Very good variety of everything but also quite dirty...
Fantastic, shopping was very good 👍
Good but very busy. Beware of pickpockets!
Nice place! Good people
Its hard to find anything. Too crowded.
Nice place to buy Ukrainian goods.
This is one big market. It has everything you ever wanted or needed.
If you come to Odesa you have to visit the market, its huge. Its also dirty and stinky in some parts, and you have to be careful about what you buy --among the locals the reputation is that the scales are all off, so you get less than you pay for, but caveat emptor-- but overall its a unique and exciting place.
I like the fish market a lot, nice smoked fish and ready-to-eat dishes. Very cheap compared to Western-Eu
The heart of Odessa 😂
Authentic ukrainian market place
So beautiful Market happy to be there
A bit expensive for foreigners
Good environment
The marker you have to visit, once in Odessa
Big chaotic market. Fish seems to be there for months. Cheese sells on the open air, milk and meat as well stay without fridges.
Its time to remodel post USSR market
Big selection, reasonable price.
Great people, nice prices, a lot of different items to buy. I love it 🙌
A huge assortment of good products, but very poor Coronavirus safety standards... Do not recommend going here while the virus continues to spread throughout the city.
You must go see Olga in the sausage market! The rolled seasoned bacon is delicious!
A lot to buy in, cheap prices
A place where all the daily need stuff available in good prices. Specially for fresh veggies, fruits, chicken etc.
Blood sausage. Yummy!
Not bad not good
Good place for product
Good place for shopping..
Its okay sometimes. Sometimes very crowdy. A part of it is standard and clean and a part of it is dirty. Many vegetables and fruits with less money in some cases
Good place for clothes and shoes, should be able to find what you need here, if not Nike outlet is across the street to the North.
The best
Not one of my favorites, but sometimes useful. It is possible to find here a great variety of different products for a pretty good price... Just make sure you are not being fooled ;)
Its one of the most famous markets in post USSR. Of course, there is about nothing historical remains except the name. However, I doubt someone would be very happy to visit market with ancient infrastructure and poor hygiene :) Today it is modern market with many malls around. You may buy about everything. Many people from the rural area come to sell their crop especially on the evening market
Not so good
I love this place because here have one super shop, you can buy anything
Pricy and clean )
Nice place
Its a market- noisy and dirty. But you can buy cheap stuff there and a lot of food. Watch your bags carefully.
A great very big market with realy evrything
A must go to place when you visit OdessaThe have renovated part of the market. Unfortunately making the front section very sterile. But head to the back and the charm and craziness of the old market still exists
A unique soviet market that’s definitely worth checking out. We’ve traveled all over the world, and rarely do you see a market of this size and proportion. They have every possible fruit and vegetable you can imagine (most is grown local). You can walk the isles as you explore and taste almost everything. Definitely worth getting lost in for a few hours
This market has virtually everything that you want, ranging from clothings to food items. It is ridiculously easy to navigate and the goods are unbelievably cheap. I used to go there virtually every week when I lived in Odessa. I definitely miss the place now that I’ve moved.
