I have to say it was a wonderful experience we intend to make it another regular stop.Wanna prepare awesome meals at home? Or, maybe add beautiful flavors to take out brought home? And so so so much more!Ya gotta get in here!
Kind of hard to find your way around, but worth it! A wonderful selection of wonderful products. Of course great spices, also coffee, mugs and kitchen gadgets.
This is definitely a must see when visiting the Wichita area. All the different blends of coffee and tea you could ever imagine as well as all the elated related accessories. They also have chocolates, tableware, gifts and spices (of course). You could easily spend an hour in here. The only complaint I have is that the parking lot is in need of a little love. My husband backed into a cement marker that didnt give him enough room.
It is too bad that this delightful place has such a continuing problem with customer service. It is not occasional but constant.Today the cashiers were just wonderful but the coffee guy was beyond rude. I dont really mind wearing a mask, and signs are posted. That is fine. But this guy, the only one who is unmasked, snapped at me when I accidentally touched the tip of my finger to the top of the bin. I saw the sign, but I just pointed too hard. He again snapped at me when I gave him the second part of the order. He handed me the coffee and openly glared at me when I tried to smile and say thank you. When I return there in a few months, I will turn around and walk out if the same person is behind the counter.
Very unique store that I now love, fresh teas with a large selection of mugs and teapots...
They have a HUGE selection of teas many of which are in bulk jars so you can purchase any amount. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Lots of coffees, spices and flavorings, of course. It is a great place for gift shopping because they have a large selection of kitchen tools, etc. Fun card selection, too.
I havent gone in here often, but man is this the place to go for anything tea related. They have a whole room dedicated to the stuff! Theyve even got ceremonial grade matcha!! Everyone is really knowledgeable here from what Ive seen. Its in a massive warehouse of a building. Lots of goodies, spices, tea-ware, etc. Dont get too careless or youll spend more than you expected, haha! Its fun to browse and look around.
Like the Hotel California, you can never leave! :) Such a fun store honestly, I love shopping here. All the kitchen goods you could want but also amazing bulk coffee, teas, and spices. I cook a lot of Asian and spicy food and this is a great place to get spices cheaper than the grocery store.
Many years ago, back in the 90s, I went to Spice Merchant to see if they carried a certain blend. They did not. Fast forward about 3 decades and I thought I would try again. Yes, they did carry the blend. I finally got down to the store and I can certainly say this little shop of theirs sure has grown. So, I purchased about 3 items and next time I made sun tea out of my favorite blend from Spice Merchant.I believe now that they should get back to just coffee and things carried since the beginning. I do not know where they could have obtained this blend of Black Current tea but after a few sips, a taste test by a room mate and the rest of it was poured down the drain. There was absolutely no flavor of black current, nor did it taste anything like tea. I cannot, will not even give the stuff away. So, thanks for trying, Spice Merchant. I will not be back, not even to return what you all call black current tea. It looks like youre pretty popular but I suspect many of them never have the chance to taste real flavored teas. Not to mention the crowd in there that day.I believe in shopping locally and support small business but I find there IS an exception to many things.
Excellent selection of coffees, spices and miscellaneous kitchen equipment, jellies, jams, pickles, popcorn, etc. You name it, they got it.
This is the absolute, best place in Wichita, to get coffee beans, spices, herbs, teas and trinkets. They have roast masters and tea specialists to help job find the perfect coffee or tea for you!I personally love the Organice Breakfast. Jamaican me crazy is their most popular flavored blend. You can also find all the supplies needed to make the perfect coffee at home, in addition to buying beans. I have a French press and grinder, so I buy whole beans. I also have an espresso machine and let them grind it down for me, so I know it’s perfect.Be sure to utilize the coffee or tea punch card! I recently redeemed my first free pound of coffee beans!!I buy all my spices here. They offer the cheapest and best quality - on top of the huge variety. Something for every tastebud!Best part of all, they are a locally run company.
Love, love, LOVE this place!I have been buying mainly bulk spices as well as grocery items from this store for probably close to 27 years! My youngest, who is 27, has been coming with me since she was born, so now there is another generation addicted to this store! A year and a half ago she moved to a suburb of Houston but has been unable to find any coffee close to her beloved Jamaica me crazy or Rompope. So I treat her every time we go for a visit by taking her favorite coffees. She also likes the Almond Windmill Cookie, but she always asks for the Rompope and Jamaica.
I had an overall disappointing experience while trying to shop with the lady employee in the tea shop today before noon. This was only my second time into the spice merchant, more specifically the tea shop. While trying to adjust one of the glass jars on the wall, to better read the ingredients, the two employees in there shouted at me Do not touch the jars! Although I understand their safety and health measures, the communication could have been more professional. I quickly apologized for the mistake, and asked for help finding a selection of mint teas. The one employee had clearly run out of patience with me for this question by responding What do you mean MINT? I explained that I did not know much about tea, and was looking to learn more but was generally looking for mint flavors. She quickly pointed out half a dozen different blends scattered throughout the wall and walked away. I was embarrassed to have even asked a question.I spent the remainder of time helping myself and avoiding the employees. The selection in the entire store is more than impressive! And truly I can see why so many people rave about this location. But I was left disappointed in the lack of professional behavior.
One of my favorite stores in town. I love to spend time and money here. 😍😊
Ive already love this place and there coffee for years. But yesterday I ordered coffee online since I live 40minutes away and when it came in it was 4 bags of the wrong stuff. I emailed them to let them know, turns out my package and another got mixed up, and today they called me telling me they will send me my order and to keep the 4 bags that werent mine to try or gift to others. The woman on the phone was extremely sweet and felt bad for sending the wrong box but hey...who doesnt enjoy free coffee? Especally from them. They will forever have my business even if I move I will still be ordering from them. Thank you guys for some amazing coffee.
Im at a loss for words. My nose and senses overloaded. Never have I ever been in a place that had so many spices, teas and sauces from around the world. This is an international shopping spot. No matter what your trying to cook or bake. This is that ones one-stop spot. Im serious from India, Jamaica, China and you get it. Omish friendly products. All the coffee you want and the grind those beans and will pack it up for you. Senses overloaded at this point. Make a day out of it. Almost forgot about all the candies they have upfront where you checkout. Yes yes yes yes yes!!!
Spice merchant always smells amazing they have some really cool items to purchase. The spices and seasonings are always amazing.
Love the selection of local items. If youre looking for great tea and coffee this is the place. Everybody can find something they like here.
Amazing selection of coffee, fresh roasted. Knowledgeable staff. Wonderful place!
The staff are always helpful and eager to help their customers. I noticed that customers asking questions about the kinds of tea, the staff were very helpful yet willing to learn from their customers experience with different teas.
A friend suggested I visit The Spice Merchant years ago when I lived in Cincinnati.I couldn’t have been more excited to step through the doors for the first time and see shelves and shelves of teapots, coffee makers, and all sorts of kitchen gadgets. The rich aroma of coffee permeates the air. With every visit I find a new roast of coffee to try and have never been displeased. The employees are knowledgeable and so friendly. With a few questions about the flavor and intensity of your desired roast, they can narrow down the wide variety for a few options perfect for your needs. The spice section is my favorite place to search for new seasoning blends to add to my collection. The availability of quality spices at great prices is just one thing, of many, that has made me a loyal customer.Stepping into the tea room is like visiting an apothecary shop with glass canister lined shelves stretched from wall to wall. With every style and flavor of tea imaginable, there is something for absolutely everyone! This shop is the jewel in the crown of Wichita’s small businesses and is a must visit for anyone that has an appreciation for great food and drinks!
This is absolutely the best coffee/tea and spice merchant in Kansas Ive ever been to. Check it out, youll agree!!!
This place never fails to provide excellent service. Every encounter with an employee is a terrific example of customer relations and care. Also, when you walk-in for 3 minutes, you will smell of spices in your clothes for a half hour. I keep expecting to meet the cinnamon peeler or his wife. One final thing, the entire shop is careful with mask wearing and hand cleaner is available all over the shop. Always a great experience when we go to get just about anything by way of coffee and spices.
From out of town and The Spice Merchant was highly recommended. Unfortunately, I will never go there again. Very rude young man in the coffee. You may have great products, but will never enter again.
Literally my happy place in Wichita. Watch out for the tea lady. Shes a bulldog. But I mean that in a nice way.
I absolutely love this place! I try to come in whenever Im in town! They really have tea blends like no one else. Their amazing staff and selection just keeps me coming back!
Great variety of products including nostalgic items. Excellent customer service and will certainly return for future shopping.
Spice Merchant is such a cool place to go. The staff is very friendly and helpful! If youre one who cant get even your dog to eat your meatloaf, they have a great spice blend called bread dipping seasoning. My meatloaf is a big hit now! I got it and a new one on my trip today. Its meatloaf seasoning. It is in the oven now and it such smells heavenly!
Love this unique store in Wichita. It has everything for the spice, tea and coffee lover. Plus a lot more! My family is from South Africa and we love our rooibos tea, especially loose leaf. And this is one of the few spots we get quality tea by the pound. Definitely worth checking out this cute and unique store!
This place is great! So many different things to choose from. I was very impressed with the knowledge that the people had regarding their products. SO many things to choose from and so many things help broaden your boundaries. Must visit in my opinion.
A local gem. Awesome selection of tasty teas and coffees with LOTS of decaf options. A great resource for small amounts of rare spices you know you arent going to need a ton of. Lots of yummy spice blends and sauces too...the dilled green beans are the bomb!
I always love going to the Spice Merchant. They have the best coffee and a lot of great cooking/coffee/tea accessories and gifts. They also have an amazing tea selection to choose from. They have a buy 10 lbs of coffee and get the 11th free stamp card now that I will definitely make use of. Also you can order online!
Excellent shopping experience, as usual. Because of the COVID19 pandemic, weve not traveled to Wichita for a few months. We were getting low on our favorite coffee, San Francisco blend. I also bought 1/4 pound of a dark, low acid blend to try out. Were out of most of our jasmine tea, so I got 1001 Nights and China Jasmine. I picked up a small packet Cherry and Jasmine and Cherry and Lime flavored teas to try out. I love their Pekoe teas, so I got our favorite. Picked up some great shaker containers, of various sizes, that have a cover that closes and opens the top as needed. They have glass bases and brushed aluminum covers. I also bought a silicone soup dipper and a variety of other important kitchen items, as well. Going to The Spice Merchant was a pleasant shopping trip, as always. Everyone was following the store-wide mask mandate and social distancing. Thanks to Bob for keeping that in place. Id hate for anything to happen to the younger staff who probably havent had their shots yet. Our tea, coffee, and chocolate stores are replenished at a reasonable price.
A little pretentious but I do like the selection of teas and coffees. We received a gift certificate for their goods and there was so much to choose from. My mom loved the chai tea we got her and my husband is excited to try his orange flavored tea. As for me I can’t wait to try my chocolate covered almonds.
Great local tea and coffee store. Does NOT brew tea or coffee in-store- its a shop, not a restaurant. Great place to stock up on your favorite brewables!
Great selection. Will do mail order in future since I live a long way away. Some of staff were very nice, others were abrupt. With the volume of people shopping, it is not surprising that some staff were overwhelmed and were abrupt.
I love this place! Sometimes this place is THE excuse I need to go into the city! I got for the coffee, my wife goes for the tea, yet we always find spices, syrups, and cooking tools we just cant leave without! Dont forget to grab a truffle on the why out too!
Great selection of coffee with recommendations and ground just right for my Keurig. The tea selection is astounding and their spices for my grilled meats are second to none.
Loved the smells, coffee, tea room and lots of special items for every cook and baker.
Great local store. Coffee, tea, spices and more. All good quality. The staff is happy to answer questions.
Always love this place..... the smell is amazing even if you dont buy anything.
The best place for hard-to-find spices. They also boast a great tea and coffee selection. As a bonus, the place smells wonderful.
Lots of different teas and coffees and smells great in there and alot of different things to buy
The spice merchant is unbelievable! So many choices for coffee and tea. Always enjoy visiting there. Highly recommend a visit!
Had to purchase more coffee this morning. Bought some Pepper, Cinammon, and Ginger spices also.
A great place to browse and take your time soaking in the rich variety of offerings. The staff was really knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions we had.
I always enjoy my visits to The Spice Merchant & Co; Ive made a habit of often purchasing their Jamaican-Me-Crazy Coffee (I hope I typed that correctly, lol), it always helps perk my mornings up and tastes amazing! If youve not come here yet, do yourself a favor and stop by 😁
I went in for some curry powder and left with salted caramel syrup for my morning coffee too! I love shopping here; it smells incredible, the isles are packed with kitchen gadgets and the sales staff are present and friendly.
So many great coffees, teas & all kinds of great kitchen products & accessories. Will be back many times to come! ❤ Such friendly & helpful staff.
I rarely give businesses a 3 star. This was my first visit in the store, it was difficult to find an employee not on their cell phone, employees acted like they did not want to assist me, and the man at the coffee grinder was running his bare hands through the coffee beans (several times)!
I dont know anything about tea or spices but it smells great lol. I would recommend going just for the experience. :)
A wonderful place to shop.a very good experience .The employees were very accommodating. Will recommend to my friends toook at their online page for gifts a d spices.
Lots of good stuff and wonderful smells! Great coffee!
Good people with the best tea & coffee in town
The aroma of this place is amazing! I think I got a little jolt just from it alone. I purchased the Apricot Brandy Tea and Almond Ameretto Tea. I enjoy both, but I prefer the Apricot Brandy more. A little taste of heaven in a cup. I will visit this place frequently in the future. I must try the coffee next and take advantage of the torani syrup collection.
Loved your store. Im from Indiana.
Too crowded on the weekend, but if you want coffee mugs this is the place to go. Personally Id rather have original White Castle sliders.
Walking in is a wonder to your senses. Prices are very reasonable.
One of my favorite Wichita gems! If you drink coffee or tea, cook or create fine cuisine make it a point to stop by. I also find my favorite intense and the best non-hallmark greeting cards here. If you are looking for something whimsical, again this is a great place. Hands down one of my favorite places to shop and the chocolates are amazing.
I love going to this place for coffee and tea, and other gift items: such as coffee mugs teacups gadgets for the house fresh ground spices and all kinds of other things. I just love their selection especially of coffees. They have a great selection of not only regular coffee, but also of decaf coffees. My favorite is the decaf Jamaican Me Crazy Coffee. The only thing that bugs me about going here right now is when we went there and went in the door we were immediately accosted by some man who was very upset with us for coming in the door we did instead of the door on the side of the building. He claimed the door we came in was now just an exit. I told him that if that was the case then maybe they should put a sign on the door as there was none.
One of my favorite stores in Wichita. Coffee (freshly ground on site), tea, spices of many kinds and they are fresh; also you can purchase very small amounts when thats what you need. 5 stars every time!! Helpful staff, fascinating store, many gifts to choose from. Try it 😃!!
Great coffee. Jacob was a great help.
They have just what I needed. Large store. With unique products.
I love this store they have a wide variety of teas and coffees. The staff is very knowledgeable and super helpful.
It is very organized and the direction in the store is very well laid out.The entrance they have on the side street and you exit the door out onto the Douglas side of the building. They have places marked out on the floor to stand while ordering coffee grounds to allow for distancing.I love this place. They have so much in there and it smells amazing and just a great environment to shop in.
Wonderful items for sale. Best coffee in Wichita!
This was a very interesting store has coffee galore and all sorts of teas in tea bags or loose. They also have pots pans baking dishes. A little bit of everything.
Wonderful selection of teas. Too bad the staff is so unpleasant. I asked a question about a tea and was given a snarky answer. The sales person then proceeded to go over to their coworker and make fun of the question I asked and laugh about it. I was reminded of this experience this morning as I made tea and recall how awful they made me feel and felt a true and honest review was in order. Even though they have a great selection, I would never recommend based on how rude their staff was in the tea room.
Always the best and freshest spices. Awesome variety. Great selection and fully stocked. And I got a free reusable bag since its Saturday! Bonus!
Love shopping there. Spices are so much cheaper than the grocery stores! Great candies, puzzles, cups and bowls, tons of things you wouldnt think would be in the store. Go by and look!
The have just about any loose leaf tea or spice you could ever think of, they sell local sauces and jams, and have an incredible coffee selection. Additionally, they have so many mugs and tea sets even for the pickiest of gift recievers. I dont know what more you would want!
Great selection of coffee, teas and the spices are excellent.
Great variety of spices; however, dry spices do have an expiration date for freshness and potency. I would like to see dates on their spice pins so I know if Im getting the freshest ones or not. Great variety of torani syrups as well as local and regional jams, pickled items, etc.
Highly recommend coming here. Amazing selection of really everything! Coffee, tea, jams/jellies, hot sauces/salsas, mugs, the list goes on and on!!
So much tea!! Theyre keeping me awake through college. Thank you.
The people and the owner are always more than helpful
They were very busy. We did get in and out in a timely way, but the checkout clerk next to mine, was obviously wanting to be some where else. Caused my friend to wish we hadnt stopped there. This is not normal.
Wonderful wonderful store, so much variety at affordable pricing
My initial visit to The Spice Merchant was a bit short.First, before you even reach their doors, the smell of coffee hangs heavy in the air, like a pied piper, drawing you into the store. Upon entering, we saw all kinds of coffee and tea related knik knacks, from coffee mugs and makers, to a wide selection of coffee beans and more. Unfortunately, we cut the visit short, as the aisles are narrow and there was no way to keep social distancing with the amount of people they let in at one time. We will definitely return for a longer visit, perhaps during the week!
This is the only place I go for coffee, tea and seasoning anymore. Top notch products and probably the friendliest people in town.
The Spice Merchant is the best place to purchase freshly-roasted, whole bean coffee that Ive ever encountered across six different states. Im known to be fairly picky about my coffee, but am blown away by the quality of the Spice Merchant, their beans, and their roasting process. They have beans from every region imaginable, different levels of roasting, and the quality and freshness is apparent in every grind and cup.Its also just a uniquely fun experience visiting their location, perusing all their different trinkets and gifts, browsing through the spice and tea aisles (each of those equally as impressive as their coffee selection--I just happen to be a coffee nut), and leaving with little deserts or snacks. The Spice Merchant isnt just a hidden gem, its truly one of the best resources in the region, and something that should make Wichita proud (and frankly, should help put Wichita on the map). Im so thankful it exists, and love visiting and stocking up every time I come back to Wichita to visit. If I cant make it to Wichita when I need to, Ill order online or have friends pick me up what I need. Their online ordering system makes it a breeze for anyone anywhere to get the same freshly-roasted, high quality beans that youd purchase in-store.Fantastic place, and my favorite place to go to whenever Im in Wichita!
