Alex & his crew are fantastic! Over the last 2 years, they rebuilt the engine and transmission on my 86 Syncro as well as some smaller projects. They are extremely resourceful, knowledgeable, communicative, and trustworthy - Alex will always take the time to explain what is going on and find a solution that works for you. Alex is great at debugging and explaining things about vanagons, and their whole operation is organized and fairly priced as well.

The staff at Motor Works were very friendly and helpful, and my new tires are working great. The service was very efficient; I really appreciated not being stuck there all day! (And it didnt hurt that there was an adorable puppy in the office when I visited the first time)

I dont trust just anybody doing any sort of work on my car unless I can truly trust them. The Motor Works Inc. I can fully trust. They have cheaper prices for work done than the dealer and specialize in Euro vehicles. Its a very welcoming environment as soon as you walk in. They offered me coffee while I waited. They even have a referral program! What other mechanic that does quality work for less, does this? No one! I completely recommend this business if you need work done.Recommended

I felt like I got great service here and it was an excellent alternative to the local VW dealership. I really felt like they were telling me everything I needed to know and didnt once feel like I was being talked into work I didnt need to pay for. Chris also took the time to go out and show me under the hood exactly where the problem was and what to look out for. I came to Motor Works for a second option on a previous repair of my Subarus clutch and bearings. Bill assessed the situation and took the time to explain, using old parts, how the clutch and bearings work. He empowered me with enough knowledge to feel confident to go back to my previous mechanic to discuss the issue. Ends up it was a defective release bearing, as Bill suspected, and my mechanic repaired the issue at no additional cost. My car is running perfectly now. Technical service better than dealers. Customer service better than dealers. They benefit from almost zero turnover in their workforce both in the front office and the wonderful crew doing the service work. I cannot recall in over 20 years of going there, ever needing to take a vehicle back. These folks are diamonds among the auto service industry.

Weve been customers of The Motor Works for decades now. Their service is simply the best! In the many years we have known the staff, they are always trustworthy, courteous, and go the extra mile. I have learned to really trust their advice on our vehicles and listen when they have recommendations. For example, one of our cars had to go to the dealership for a very specific repair. I came out of there with a list of $10,000 worth of things I was told needed to be done immediately. I brought the list back to The Motor Works and they were able to check our car and found that none of the things on the dealers list needed to be done for quite a while! Had the brake light come on in BMW over the weekend. Went to The Motor Works as soon as they opened on the following Monday. They were quick to work me into the busy schedule and were even able to provide a loaner car if needed. I needed tires for my BMW and the Motor Works was recommended by a friend. I talked with Chris on the phone and he recommended some Michelin tires. I brought my car in the next day and they had the tires on that day. I couldnt be happier with the new tires. they are much better than the OEM run flats I had on the car. Their recommendation was spot on and their service was fast and Chris and the whole staff was friendly and professional. I would highly recommend.

Great Service, on-time and reasonable cost. This was my first visit to TMW to get service on my 2008 SLK 350. They gave me an immediate estimate which was in line with other quotes and were ready to do start the job that day. The Motor Works eurolube is a really great service. I could change my oil myself but I would have missed something which could have resulted in a major system breakdown. By regularly visiting TMW, my car is consistently reliable and never lets me down, even though it is 12 years old with over 100,000 miles on the odometer.

The motor works had a very clean, neat and organized auto repair shop. The work was done efficiently and they were helpful with the repairs of my Mercedes C 230. I would recommend them to anyone.

This is the Best european import auto repair shop in the Triad, i promise. After a couple of less than stellar experiences at other places, i finally found a group of mechanics that i can trust. After inspecting my breaks I was given an estimate for having the job completed the same day and if I were to wait to pick the car up the next day. The next day estimate was lower with a preferred part listed. I went with the next day estimate because they were had a car available for me to drive, which was prefect since they are located in Winston Salem, I live in Mocksville and work in Lexington. I didnt have to arrange for other transportation. They were extremely patient when I had a hiccup at work and had to return the loaner vehicle after hours. I appreciated that the beyond words.

The staff and techs at Motorworks are very professional. They clearly explained the recommended maintenance and cost for my BMW prior to beginning work.

So I try very hard to use local business and not national chains. I found motorworks when I was looking for tires for my wifes car. Chris was knowledgeable and talked with me about a set of Michelins. We setup an appointment and I told him I would wait while they were doing the install. He said no problem, be here at 8:15 and the guys will get right on it. I get a text message two days prior to the appointment stating 8:30 and I confirm. I show up on time at 8:15 and the woman behind the counter says that it will be 9:30 until they get to it. Whats the point of confirming an appointment if your not going to honor it? My time is important too.Ill find another local garage that wants my business.

I took my old vw beetle to the motor works co, and now i take my new bug pepe lepu there also...wouldnt go anywhere else. the prices are great and so is the work. super friendly staff too. a def 5 star place

This rating is long overdue.. but I take back my 5 star and give this 1 star rating due to the way this place treated me. Not only will they take weeks to finish the smallest tasks on your car, but they will charge more than triple what the price should cost (just bc its a Porsche, etc.), and then they will leave parts unplugged so that your car only runs on 3 cylinders incase you opt out to pay their ridiculous prices. There are tons of better options in the Winston area, depending on what your driving... but please avoid this place. They are crooked and they make a killing off people.They also get you by giving you $20 off for rating them on here, so thats how their google rating is so high..

True To Their Word - In February, I had to replace all four tires on my 2011 BMW 328i. I chose to go with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3+ 94Y. The Motor Works offers Free Road Hazard Warranty on tires purchased from them. Thank goodness they do because just this week I needed to use the Road Hazard Warranty due to a very large Hex Washer Head Sheet Metal Screw that punctured my tire and caused very severe damage.I called Elyse and she was very reassuring about the Road Hazard Warranty and was able to save a free loaner car for me. Elyse didnt know that she was on speaker phone and my fellow colleagues heard how professional and kind she was. They asked if I was always treated so nicely by The Motor Works staff. I told them that I have always been treated this way. They were amazed and were particularly amazed about the free loaner car for me to use.My car was ready to go the next day. I was greeted with smiles by Chris and Bev who had me in and out in minutes. The only costs were for the mount and balance of the new tire and the new windshield wiper blades that I asked to be installed while the car was there. They were true to their word and honored the Road Hazard Warranty just like they said they would when I originally purchased the tires.I have said in previous reviews that I have always been treated like I was the only customer that they were working with and that I was a member of their family.
