Ive been wearing glasses since elementary school, and Ive seen numerous optometrists and ophthalmologists over the years. My visit with Dr. Basden was the best, most thorough, and most efficient eye exam/check up that Ive ever received. Dr. Basden was comprehensive, thorough, quick, and had a great personality. I was genuinely impressed when I left the practice. My only complaint has to do with the pre-exam process. Were in the middle of a pandemic, and a gentleman was on a machine next to me during the pre-exam. We were in the waiting room together, and he was mask-less. When he left the pre-exam room, I was moved to the machine where he was sitting. I asked the young lady if shed wipe the machine down. She responded that it had already been done. Well, even if that we true, obvious I didnt see it (or perhaps I didnt feel it was done well enough) - the simplest thing to do would be to grab one of those wipes and wipe the machine down.I used my shirt in protest.Otherwise, I really enjoyed the experience (as much as going to a doctor can be enjoyable).

Three of us in my family see Dr. Basden and we like him very much. He and his staff are very professional, informative and friendly.

Not sure what the hell happened to this place but went here when I was in college and had nothing but good things to say, and now theyve dropped 3 of my appointments and refuse to return my calls. So have fun with that, Ill find a new eye doctor ✌

I would definitely recommend the Basden Eye Care office. Some of the nicest and most professional and knowledgeable eye care workers. The Doctor is so attentive and nice. He even remember who I was from a year and half ago. Most doctors dont know their patients from Adam, but not here. Very pleasant experience all around.

Horrible experience. Paid for my glasses and contacts up front. And it took over 6 weeks to get them. They kept telling me “two weeks”. When I finally got the glasses they were the wrong prescription. They sent them to the lab and told me it would be two weeks. It was 5 more weeks. Finally got the glasses. Then they sent me a bill last week that said I owe a balance of 11 dollars that was past due by more than 90 days. I called and they put me on hold for 30 minutes then hung up on me. I called again and she assured me she would call me back that day but never called back. I went in to get it straightened out and ask why they never called, emailed, texted or anything to let me know of the bill and all she did was shrug her shoulders and say I don’t know. I will never go back

New to town and was referred by a friend. New patient portal was easy to complete. Knowledgeable and very friendly staff. Extremely impressed by the new technology and the overall service. Highly recommend Dr. Basden and his group.

I had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience at Basden and can only advise that you STAY AWAY. I tried to order a pair of glasses and was totally ignored. When the woman finally acknowledged by presence, she was rude and condescending. There was a particular frame from that store that I wanted so I persevered. I just called, now ten days later, to get an update and was, once again, treated with disregard. She could not have been more rude. Not only was she rude, but she was evasive about when the frames would arrive (up to THREE OR FOUR MONTHS!!) and if she had even ordered them. She tried to tell me how long it took to get glasses made, but I just wanted to see the frames. I have wasted ten days and am no closer to having my glasses. Any place other than this is a better option.

Doctors and eye care is good. The service at the glasses pickup and frame area is very lacking. Waited 45 minutes at one store and they just forgot about me. Had called from the Moore’s Mill store to get frames straightened. The store was basically empty. Moore’s mill store the frame lady is wearing a mask with political undertones which has no place.

Dr. Basden, Dr. Pate and also Dr. Hadley are the most caring doctors and their staff goes over the top. I’m just amazed. I guess the saying “it starts from top” applies here because Dr. Basden partners with excellent physicians that truly care a s they hire staff that does also. Even the staff that fits you for glasses. I hardly ever take time to make a review but the past years have been incredible.

I have been a Basden client for years, but not after today. I have a pretty extreme astigmatism and now need custom contacts. Dr. Pate ordered a trial pair for me several weeks back and stressed that this is not the only brand from which he can order contacts for me, so if these are not great, call and ask that they try a different brand. I did just that. About three weeks into the first trial pair, I called and spoke with Brandy about ordering another trial pair as suggested by Dr. Pate. She told me that the company she would order from is fairly expensive, and they would send a full year of the contacts (4 pair) instead of just a trial.She quoted the price of the contacts and said she would need to check with Dr. Pate to make sure he is ok with ordering them because if they dont work for me, the clinic would be out $400 since the other three pair could not be returned. I clarified that they would give me the first pair as a trial and would pay for the contacts when I picked up the other three pair provided they worked for me. She confirmed this and said if I didnt hear back from her, the doctor had approved the order and they would let me know when the contacts arrived.I received a call yesterday that the trial pair is in, so I went earlier today to pick up and they asked me for $476 for one trial pair of contacts. Brandy came out to speak with me and I reminded her what she said on the phone and her response was no, I did not say that. I asked her to just give me a copy of my records and I would have another doctor handle it. She looked annoyed, dropped (literally) the two glass vials of contacts into the plastic bin she was carrying and turned to get my records copied. $4 later... I have no contacts. Horrible, disrespectful service. It doesnt matter how good the doctor is, if the staff are going to treat the customers this way, stay away.

I have had my eyes checked there and with even having insurance my glasses were going to be over 400.00 after insurance. Also I bought and paid for contacts, was never able to go pick them up. Trying to get the money they owe me from paying for them has been like pulling teeth. They have been rude and I feel like they are trying to steel my money. Still have not gotten my money back. I paid cash and they want to give it to me in a check. But even that has been difficult to get. I want my money refunded to me!!! Tired of dealing with this place!

Really good experience, pretty much all of the staff were really nice. The process was fast, the entire appointment only took about 30 minutes. The location was nice and overall pretty good service.

You know a place is great when if your insurance doesnt accept them, your still not going anywhere else. I think its great that there is an eye glass attendant to help you decide on the best frames for you. The contact lenses prices are competitive and the facility is well decorated. I love going here.

The only clinic in the Auburn/Opelika area that accepts Medicaid. A really Wonderful clinic with awesome staff members that are professional, informative, friendly and patient.

Had an appointment this morning which I made for the N. Dean location. When I get there they tell me its at Moores Mill location. They screwed up! I made the appointment at the Dean location becayse it is closer for me. Cancelled altogether and will never use them again.

If I could give 0 stars... This is the first time in a long time Ive felt the need to leave a google review and here we go.The wait was interminable, I came on my lunch break. I was there over two hours, perhaps thats reasonable.But the way I was treated by the optometrist himself was abysmal. He was dismissive of the things I told him, condescending in the extreme. I told him I use progressive lenses, he ignored that, told me that whoever first told me I needed them was clueless.Of course I get to work with my new glasses and I cant see anything close or at a distance. BECAUSE I NEED PROGRESSIVE LENSES.On top of all of that I was then summarily dismissed at the end of the appointment.For what Im spending I can go to Wal Mart and be treated like the next number walking through the door. And get a whole lot more.Update: They screwed up my prescription. Im having to elsewhere and spend more money to get my left eye back to the point where I can see out of it again. Im honestly considering litigation at this point. Super cool.

Had a good experience that turned bad!! Ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses. Told me I would have them in 7-10 days. Been almost a month now and no glasses. No communication either. Called today and told the frames just came in and would be another 10 days to 2 weeks to get the lens. Why does it take 6 weeks to get a pair of glasses? Going somewhere else!!!!

Dr. Pate was absolutely excellent. The service was quick and I left wearing a pair of contacts that fit perfectly and have me seeing 10x better than when I walked in. Highly recommend Dr. Pate!

Similar to other posters, wish I could choose zeros stars. Worst customer service ever. Was told my daughters glasses were in. Took off work early to go pick them up, showed up to be told we dont have any ordered glasses on file. Twenty minutes later, received a call stating we found the glasses under a different name. Really????? No apology received of course. Mass confusion everytime I go in there.

I went to Dr. Basden for the first time this week and had a very positive first experience. He was recommended to us by people we know. I had to get a new prescription and needed more contacts. He did a full eye exam. Dr. Basden was thorough, patient, and took the time to ask questions and listen. He made great eye contact I defenitely got the impression he was listening to me and carefully considering my answers to his questions. I did not feel rushed.

Best eye care ever. Danny was so sweet and caring,as was the entire staff. Id highly recommend to anyone!

Well thankfully I didnt have issues with the receptionists like other posters have said below. Dr. Eagan is one of the best Optometrists I have ever met, he found a condition in my daughters eye and referred me to a specialist on the same day. He is a very professional and thorough doctor and I appreciate all of his hard work. I feel safer knowing Dr. Eagan is my daughters Optometrist. I will plan on bringing the family here for their eye care. Thank you Dr. Eagan!!!

Appointment scheduling is a pain. I have a family of 6 and could not get same day scheduling as I live 45 minutes away. Would also cause my children to miss more school time than desired. Secretary on phone was also chewing/eating while talking with me, not rude but unprofessional.

Scheduled appointment because I was having trouble with dryness/light sensitivity/etc. The ladies at the front desk seemed more concerned with their own conversation then with helping me. I was prescribed eye drops, and I went to pick them up the next day from CVS and they couldnt fill them because the Dr needed to fill out additional paperwork. One week passes...I called Basden and they said the paperwork would be sent in by the end of the week. Two weeks pass..still no paperwork. 3 weeks pass..still nothing. I was have difficulty at my job doing daily tasks so it was getting very frustrating. I called multiple times and it was always the same answer..well have it by the end of the week. I was also calling CVS and they said they keep requesting the paperwork but never got anything. I went to another Dr and got the eyedrops I needed plus contacts in 2 DAYS!!

My experience with Basden Eye Care was mostly positive. Doctors Basden and Eagan were excellent, and most of the staff members were professional and helpful. My only complaint was with the girl who was supposed to teach me how to use contacts. I found her to be insensitive, impatient, condescending, and ineffective, and she seemed oblivious to the fact that a man with very large, heavily calloused hands might have trouble working with contact lenses. As a result of her instruction, I had a rough time adjusting to the contacts and finally learned by watching an online video. Later, Dr. Eagan gave me some additional tips that were very helpful. Overall, Baseden Eye Care is excellent, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, but they might need a tighter rein on one or two employees.

My first impression of basden eyecare was not a good one. When I walked in the door the two ladies up front were playing on their cellphones, and did not acknowledge me. Then the one with long hair started yelling at someone in the back, which I later learned was the check out girl. The receptionist with the long hair continued to yell at the check out girl meet me in the back like they were about to fight. The check out girl said I dont have time for this and walked away. Then the receptionist went back to playing on her cellphone. Clearly, the receptionist have way more important things going on then the patients. The doctor was great and when I got to check out, the check out girl was very sweet and friendly despite having been recently chewed out. Overall, I will go back to basden eye care but I really hope they get better class working at the front desk.

Totally bad appointment service. They do not respond to the voice call and also I even think that they do not know how to book an appointment honestly since they said once certain times are available, and they are now saying not. Never going to visit again.

Tried for 20 minutes just to speak with someone. I was put on hold and got cut off twice. The receptionist immediately put me back on hold each time with no thought. I decided that I didnt want to rely on them for anything if they cant even answer the phone.

Dr. Pate is awesome.
