If this is a tourist trap, well I have been ensnared. An interesting place, I do not think I have seen decor anything like this. The donuts are great and they arent as expensive as I thought, a specialty donut in Dallas can cost up to $7 so I am okay with the prices. There was only one cashier and she is not the reason the service is slow but the over the top extra customers that insist oh buying a whole list of donuts and being sassy if one was not ready. But she handled the customer amazingly. There are vast homeless population Im the area but in my experience they dont mess with you if you dont mess with them and arent rude, this cant be said for everytime, but I wouldnt go here at night alone. There is a security guard out front on his phone, so theres that.
Exceeded my expectations, had plenty of options vegan and regular donuts and some good drinks. Cute decorations and atmosphere love the flag and lights and the murals the Texas pink silhouette. Super fast online pickup and in line was just hopping and popping getting a minute plus the security guard was super hot!!
Ok so the doughnuts were great(aesthetically)! They were gorgeous and tasted absolutely delicious(certain ones). But...... i feel like its definitely overrated. Some of them were good but the chocolate was def gritty. Like straight sugar. The establishment was really cute. Disappointed that they didnt have a variety of sizes of t shirts. They were out of a lot of donuts. I believe like every single thing we asked for they didnt have. It was a bit disappointing and the cashier wasnt very helpful at all. It was our first visit so it was a bit annoying. Overall it was ok. Wouldnt go again though
The Donuts are huge. Wide range of toppings to select from. The shop assistants are fantastic. Talk through the menu really well.Good vibe in store. The Donuts just were not for me. I thought the bases where quite bland and the toppings overwhelming. One day letter: Actually I take back my initial comment, they are quite nice once the sugars have settled and seeped into the base and the Oreo toppings have softened. EAT them a day later 🤣
Long line ALWAYS-means good food! These donuts are so fun and yummy! Get that sweet tooth ready. My fave is the maple bacon bar, because BACON! 2 pieces of bacon on a maple donut😍 my kids love the chocolate ones because they hate Jelly filling and odd combos still (weirdos). We come by every time Im downtown or on 6th street.
Voodoo Doughnuts is a must destination if you’re visiting Austin.Of course they have 50+ doughnut options to choose from.Don’t be surprised if the line is out to the front door, line moves very fast because people usually come here in groups and the staff are great at what they do!Homer Doughnut is highly recommended!
The doughnuts were yummy and the atmosphere was fun!The cashier was a little off putting. We all said what donut we wanted and he goes, what else after every order placed. Without a smile or cheerful expression. He could have been more polite.
So so yummy! This donut will have you going back for more. They had plenty of options and all of them looked tasty. Atmosphere was spot on and this is a great place for locals and tourists alike. Make sure you take a picture of the donut and of yourself in front of the sign they have inside because you will definitely want to remember this place.
If I were just rating the taste it would be 5/5. Unfortunately, the service is extremely slow and the prices are too high. When ordering, they preselect the vegan dozen. If you have an allergy to peanuts, youre playing a risky game. When asked to be able to adjust the dozen, depending on the employee, you have a 50/50 chance of a yes. Though, they have perfected the vegan donuts. They are so good I do not believe its vegan. If only they could perfect speed and consistent quality of service. Also they skimped me a doughnut
Stopped by mid-morning on a Sunday. Be prepared to wait! The line may go out through the door. Help the staff out by having your order ready using the menus on the outside window and on the wall in line. Prices may be higher, but doughnuts are large and quality-made.Huge bonus: vegan options available.Voodoo Doughnut is simply legendary. Totally worth the wait and a must-go in Austin.
Definitely worth the experience! Its a place Ive always wanted to visit and finally had a chance when attending six street for Halloween. Be prepared to wait in line.
I actually ordered these via Door Dash so the decor of the establishment has no effect on my review. There wasn’t anything special about these donuts whatsoever. I’ve tasted much better. My son does appreciate and like the vegan ones though. I probably wouldn’t ever eat them again, well I take that back. I would like to go into the place and actually see the unique decor so I may pick one up then. If you want a mouthwatering life changing donut that you will never forget…go to Gourdough’s Big. Fat. Donuts. food truck on S. 1st.
This is my kind of fancy baked goods. Lots of intense and creative donut varieties, but they arent too rich. My chai and churro donuts were delicious!
We stopped by 3 times. The first time they were closed. The second time we passed by during an Austin murder tour and there were roughly 30 soemthing people on line around 9pm. The third time we stopped by there were 40 something people and the line reached the entrance around 12 noon. It appears that there is always a line.We were eyeing 6 donuts but ended up getting 4 donuts since our aim wasnt diabetes.Vicious hibiscus ($2.50) : Very tarty icing andGuava colada ($2.50) : A good portion of coconut flakes with tasty guava jellyMaple cream ($3) : maple syrup icing with a cute mustache and Boston creme on the insideMemphis mafia ($5.25) : a huge donut with banana, chocolate, chocolate chips, peanuts and peanut butterNote: All the prices listed include tax.Memphis mafia is our #1 favorite. The other three all have the same ranking. Its definitely worth checking out in Austin.
The store’s capacity has been cut, and it seems like tables and chairs have been removed to enforce COVID safety. Donuts are very pricey! Ranging from $1.5-3.5 on average, these can really break the bank. I tried the Voodoo Doll donut, which is a raspberry jelly-filled yeast donut decorated in a fun way. They have classic flavors and also interesting, unique flavors that you’ll have trouble finding anywhere else! For the delicious quality and creativity, I’d say it’s definitely worth the splurge. Vegan options available too!
I have 2 words. Mango Tango. Theyre all great but that is one of the most well balanced confections I have had. I do REALLY love mango though so you know...if thats not your thing, maybe stick to blueberry cake.
Very good quality and interesting selection of tasty donuts that are not overly sweet. The dough has the perfect chewy texture. The Voodoo doughnut (raspberry filling, chocolate icing, with a pretzel stake) was very good. The real raspberry filling tasted natural and was not too sweet. The Apple Fritter was very good. It had chunks of real apple and the glaze was not too sweet. The Chuckles (chocolate frosting, hot chocolate powder, caramel, and chocolate drizzle) was very good. Their doughnuts are a little pricey but worth it.
They have entertaining donuts of all types and are off of a main party street. As long as you dont expect a top tier donut when it comes to taste, it may be worth a brief look just for the novelty of it. I wouldnt call it a tourist trap but I doubt youll crave them after you eat there once either. Overhyped place, but I have to respect the simplicity of a creative donut shop. And for that Ill keep it a 3/5 🍩
The man assisting us was really kind and welcoming, great customer service!Delicious donuts, but better for dessert than breakfast (as expexted).
Its voodoo donuts! Cant go wrong with some delicious donuts and coffee! Vegan options available which I appreciate their ability to be inclusive to all eating styles. Fun decor, silly donut designs and friendly customer service!
Its donuts, 🤷🏼♂️Tastes like donuts.Costs more than donuts.Dont believe the hype.
After our first night out in Austin around 3am, on 6th ave, we saw a long line and it wasn’t for a bar, it was for DOUGHNUTS!! We had to see what all the fuss was about, the line went pretty fast but we were also pretty drunk hahaWe bought way too many donuts, who buys 7 donuts? Drunk Peta apparently. I remember the Grape one being my favourite. YUM!! Naturally we ate them in our hotel room on instagram live after being brought home via pedicab. The donuts we ate:Oh Captain, My Captain: Raised yeast doughnut with vanilla frosting and Captain CrunchGrape Ape: Raised yeast doughnut with vanilla frosting, grape dust, and purple sprinklesVoodoo Bubble: Raised yeast doughnut with vanilla frosting, bubble gum dust, and a piece of bubble gumThe Homer: Raised ring dipped in strawberry flavored frosting and a smattering of round sprinklesViscous Hibiscus: Raised yeast doughnut dipped in hibiscus flavored frosting and black sprinklesSprinkle Cake: Plain cake doughnut with vanilla frosting and sprinkles
Loved it! Great vibes and fun staff. Also very hygienic- she literally sprayed and wiped everything before we ordered & paid. Cant wait to go back and try other items.
Good Instagram donuts, but very pricey and noticeably not fresh if youre getting them at night. The apple fritters are also disappointing compared to Cambodian owned donut shops (which is also where Voodoo is copying/culturally appropriating pink boxes from). It would be nice if they didnt act like they created pink boxes and give credit to the Asian American creators that they were inspired by.The donuts themselves are very yeasty and risen, comparable to Round Rock Donuts. The apple fritter is too bready and not crispy. The donuts with elaborate toppings look good but the toppings can get stale if youre not getting them in the morning. Stick to simple glazed and frosted donuts here, theyre much better.
ALWAYS a great experience when were in town thank you voodoo ❤️💯
Great donuts and cool decor. Definitely a place where you want to try one of everything. Theres also a slew of neat looking bars, shops, etc on this street, making voodoo a good stop along the way.
Super fresh and delicious doughnuts. Out of the box flavors. Super friendly staff!
As a huge donut fan, I had heard of Voodoo donuts, but I thought they were only in Portland. It would have been top of my list to go to if I ever visited Oregon, but I had no idea there were other locations. We were wandering around Austin and saw someone carrying the signature pink box and I got so excited! They definitely live up to the hype. The Austin location had no long line to wait in. We just walked right up to the counter. It was late in the day, so I thought they might be sold out of most flavors, but they had everyones first choice in stock. This is not a gourmet doughnut kind of place, with regular flavors with pretentious names and made with fancy European ingredients or whatever. This place has the kind of donuts I like. Good quality, good-tasting donuts in crazy unique flavor combinations that you cant get anywhere else. I had a grape-flavored donut, which I loved. My wife got a donut with cinnamon sugar and cayenne pepper! The menu features pictures of all their donuts, which is another thing I am a fan of. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Austin. I have to try the banana fritter topped with chocolate and peanut butter.
Great place to visit, enormous variety of doughnuts. Not cheap but worth it. Cute designs and love the flavors. You need a cup of coffee or water. Excellent choice if you are in downtown.
Absolutely amazing! Waited almost two years to come back, since I live it of town
Really cool shop with unique doughnuts to choose from. Recommend to anyone looking for breakfast in Austin.
Much hyped, and the Portland Cream was delicious. The rest, not quite living up to expectations.
Beautiful, creative, and more delicious than you can imagine!
Awesome donuts if youre in Austin and have a sweet tooth.
Ridiculously good. Insanely lines. Very eclectic interior. But its a must have in Austin cause the doughnut is THAT good. The variety is crazy too - so manu choices. 1 will fill you up- but get 2. You will not regret it.
Pretty good speciality donuts! I went there in the afternoon and there was basically no line, but Ive heard the wait does get pretty long late night. The donuts are pretty big and not too expensive (about $2 each). The Dirt (Oreo) donut that I got tasted better than I expected. Also, in case anyone was thinking of getting the Portland Cream donut, its not quite like a Boston Cream donut if thats what you were hoping for. The chocolate icing tasted a little different. Its not a bad donut, but I was expecting I would like it more than the Oreo one and not the other way around.
7/4/2021 2:58AM(CST)Bearded Flacid Security Guy: we’re closed.Me: y’all close at 3AM.Bearded Flacid Security Guy:*looks around* we’re closed.*aggressive tone implied*PS, there’s a homeless dude asleep and I don’t know if I should be the to tell him his scooter is on…I hope he’s not burning his minutes on that scooter! Because I’ll tell yeah, I was in Denver last month and those rental scooters really are a fun time and holy smokes how the time flies!
We must have picked a great time to come. Waited in line for only 10 minutes before walking out with our donuts 🍩. We came on a Sunday afternoon.
Amazing donuts and has vegan options too!
Best doughnuts Ive ever had. I went for my birthday this past weekend.
Loved it... great variety and unique atmosphere. I did feel a bit rushed by the cashier 😒 to hurry and make my selection.
Been here before. Its be a few years. Coming from a California. Were only able to vist Austin during MotoGp racing. Since the MotoGp has been cancelled 2yrs in a row,due to Covid. We decide to come anyways! 😬 We could pass coming to Voodoo doughnuts!
***Update*** This place is still Awesome a year later...added more pics. Absolutely amazing. Line outside the door but worth the wait. All the comments were right about the Bacon Maple Bar. As you can see in the pics these donuts are large. The old fashion donut is normal size you would get. You must try this place out...only closed from 3am to 6am and they take debit and credit now...no longer cash only.
We got way too many donuts at one time. An old saying my mother used to say all the time Dont let your eyes be bigger than your stomach. These pastries were delicious, the atmosphere was unique and the line of people never stopped coming.
So far they are the best donuts I have ever eaten. Fast service.
Great donuts. Poor customer service. I received a duplicate on my order. So I did not received one of the donuts I ordered. I contacted customer service sent cc info and location. They never responded
Very cool place. Saw it on tv and had to stop....oh and the donuts were amazing!
Very interesting and delicious doughnuts fast line and the staff was super helpful in selecting
Vegan donuts, allegedly. Tastes too good to be vegan.
Iconic, but some doughnuts are a tad too sweet. Great variety at the expense of superiority in quality. The plain doughnut is great, but I could get that elsewhere as well. Come here for the novelty. Its quite enjoyable overall.
Awesome place to stop by! Staff is super friendly and doughnuts are delicious and fun. Also some great walls to snap some pictures by. Dont miss this place if your in town!
Enjoy the donuts, great service, and great environment 👍 👌
Cutest place! The best doughnuts I’ve had!
Great customer service .Wonderful donuts. Wish there was representation from the what Voodoo actually is .
Great, quick experience here! Super surprised it was so quick, since Ive always had to wait in line the last few times Ive been to Voodoo. Love their toppings and these doughnuts are delish. We got the butterfinger and two others, I forget which ones. Definitely need to at least try it out whenever youre around.
I have been wanting to go to this place for years.. omg the doughnuts are so good and the place is pretty cool inside. The guy was helpful and welcoming. Glad I finally got my doughnut from here..
VOODOO DOUGHNUTS IS AWESOME!!! I saw everybody walking down the street with these pink boxes and got curious. My gf and I were in town just trying to do touristy things so we found it and got 3 each. Will recommend to everyone in the world!
Funky environment with good donuts. Definitely recommend if you happen to be passing by.
A great selection of doughnuts even at 10:30am! The Portland Cream was one of the best custard filled I’ve ever had.
To die for donuts. But theyre the best the day of. On the famed 6th - plenty of paid parking. Take some time to stroll the street.
Cool decor. Open late for a late night snack. Donuts are not my favorite, but I’ve never come across a donut I cannot eat. Fruit flavors are to sweet for my liking but that’s personal preference.
Delicious!Found this place during a stopover in Austin. Just from the pics, it would be easy to assume that these are simply dressed up donuts, but you would be mistaken. The dough is delicious, the toppings are sweet and just right. Still not for the faint of heart, these donuts are filling and definitely fit the bill if youre looking to crave your sweet tooth.Highly recommend a visit to this place.
Yum. One solidly good donut.
Couldnt leave Austin without checking out this spot. So happy we were able to squeeze it in. So many amazing donuts, it was hard to choose! I ended up getting the Dirt and the Buttermilk Bar. Both great choices! I gotta come back some day and try out the rest!
Very overrated and expensive place. The works definitely seem like they’re on drugs or something. The music choose can be better for sure as well. It’s not worth waiting in line for. A place to visit once and that’s it.
This was our first time here and wanted to try Voodoo Doughnut while we enjoyed Sixth Street. This place is right on Sixth Street and the waiting was not bad at all. It was about thirty minutes for us. Atmosphere was spot on, and this is a great place for locals and tourists alike. They had plenty of options and all of them looked tasty. Make sure you take a picture of the donut and of yourself in front of the sign they have inside because you will definitely want to remember this place. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! We will definitely be back when we are in the area again! Safe Travels – Prost
Donuts are good. Definitely not worth the rediculous wait. Dont understand why there is such a wait either. Other than the fact the staff is just so slow and lazy. My daughters and I literally got up to the register and the woman looked at us and without saying a word just walked off to the back and never came back?? Donuts are too expensive for what they really are. If your just looking for a novelty donut and you dont care about time, this is your place. Otherwise Id go to Duncan donuts. Really didnt care for the bad service.
Cool vibe and donuts were great! Not much going on when we visited, but the location was still very cool.
I wouldnt ever make a special trip to Voodoo, but its perfect if you are already near 6th street and get hit with a sugar craving. Lots of fun and over the top donut options, but honestly a little more gimmick than quality. Cheap compared to some of these gourmet donut places that have popped up in the last couple of years though!
Wow, these donuts are not so ordinary, the flavors and styles you could get were really interesting and totally delicious, Horchata creme filled and Captain my Captain were my favorites, the regular glazed was really great also and larger than most donuts, the coffee was delicious and the whole establishment had a super cool vibe to it.
Great place for some interesting donuts keeping with Austins eccentric theme! The donuts are great and very tasty. My only warning is the bathroom is true gender neutral and it was very odd and a little uncomfortable to have to walk down a sketchy looking hallway to get to a large restroom where both men and women can share the restroom at the same time. Keep Austin Wierd I guess!
