This little coffee shop is tucked away, but worth the trip! Lots of options and flavors and the coffee was delicious! There was a bit of a line when we went, but it goes pretty quick, so don’t let that deter you!
This is now my favorite coffee place in Boone. I used to go to Higher Grounds, and they are so delicious but I started getting sugar free coffee instead because I’m trying to get into shape and I’ve had trouble finding somewhere in boone with good sugar free coffee. Espresso News has my favorite coffee sugar free or not. I highly recommend!
Decent coffee, good space. The muffins are downright delicious and made in-house. I am not even a muffin person and am still dreaming about the double choco vegan muffin...yum
Excellent customer service! Very professional. If you like a good smoothie or a good dry capuccino (I love strong coffee, like in Italy) dont think twice thats the place you want to go! Everytime I am in the area I must have my moment. My good coffee! Thank you 😊
As someone who drinks coffee pretty much everyday, during my time visiting Boone I had to visit Espresso News. The café itself is nicely kept and spacious (however there was no indoor seating, due to Covid), and offered a nice, friendly atmosphere. In terms of offerings, they had the regular espresso offerings as well as some interesting ones, including espresso with tonic water (if I recall correctly). The barista was very nice and knew what he was talking about, and offered patience as I asked questions about methodology and offerings. They do have dairy milk alternatives, I chose oatmilk as mine. They also have several different flavoring syrups, to which I had salted caramel, and it was delicious. The barista drew a cute milk man in my latte (as he called it), and I will definitely visit again if I find myself in Boone once more.
Very busy and a bit of a wait but it was worth it for the most excellent cappuccino.
Well I go here about once a week with my husband and after the first day we came here 6 years ago I always have great service 💛
Good coffee for a cheap price. Give this place a shot if youre in Boone.
My go to spot for coffee any time Im in Boone, and has been ever since I was a student at App a decade ago. Once they re-open the second floor, its the best study space in town with the best coffee to match.
Enews is a cozy, homey coffee shop with a real edge appeal. During the pandemic; they have operated in some of the safest standards; and they enforce masks like no other. The staff is fun and quirky, and the coffee is always good. I get their chai latte. Dirty of course. So here’s the tea: GOOD COFFEE. AMAZING PASTRIES. like. BEST. IVE.EVER.HAD pastries. FUN ENERGY. GREAT STAFF.
Fantastic experience! The barista was so kind and efficient. Even though the place was a little busy she got things done so quickly to be tending to the place all by herself. Coffee tasted great too!
Its alright, not my favorite since I dont really drink anything else but water, but if youre a coffee person, I think youll love this place.
Perfect dirty chai 😋
My family and I love this place! They always have the best drinks and I love their muffins. If you want to support local business, GO TO THIS PLACE! It is so cool and I cant wait until Covid goes away so I can go there to study. Genuinely the coolest place in Boone.
Coffee 10/10Staff 11/10Barista skill 12/10Logo design 13/10I could not be more enthusiastic about recommending this delicious coffee shop. Maybe it’s just the espresso, but I’m elated with my experience at this fine establishment. They had loads of non dairy milk options (almond, oat, soy, hemp, coconut, the list goes on) The staff was so cool, I wanted to hang out with them for a while. The barista (John I think) whipped up a beautiful latter pour with incredible speed. Everyone was nice, fun to talk to, and knowledgeable about their java. Their logo was also adorable. My fav!!
What can I say? Been getting coffee from here for years. Love it. Boone staple for sure.
Far and away THE best coffee spot in Boone. Great atmosphere, super cozy, excellent coffee and food selections. They serve my favorite dirty chai of all time. Its walkable from any public lot in town. If you go to one coffee shop in Boone, this has to be it.
Fiancé and I were looking for a local alternative to Starbucks and were excited to try a new coffee shop. Due to the political sign plastered on the window we decided to turned around. We agree these people matter, but we cannot support a business who supports hate, vandalism, and death of innocent people and police officers! Please be a coffee shop instead of a politician!
Espresso News is THE coffee shop to visit, especially if you have a family. 1. They have great coffee and pastries. 2. They are family-friendly. 3. They have great staff. Every time we are in downtown, we stop by to get a Cortado, Vanilla Latte, or some other staple drink. Very quaint atmosphere and bustling! Its the place to be.
Good prices and atmosphere. Coffee was very good and service was excellent.
Awesome place! A really cosy environment with some nice outdoor seating areas as well. The staff is very accommodating, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. My boyfriend has a medical condition that forces him to stay far away from other people, and the espresso news staff helped us purchase beans at a safe distance for him. Also, the coffee beans are high quality! Will definitely be returning! 5 stars
This is the coffee shop where I always take anyone visiting Boone for the first time! I love the iced coffee, fresh homemade muffins/cookies, very reasonable prices. Staff is friendly and quick. The space upstairs is incredibly cozy and comfortable. It gets busy on weekend mornings especially but there is always outside seating in addition to the upstairs/downstairs.
Best coffee we had on our trip around the BRP and Smokies so far, and super kind and patient baristas even when busy. These guys KNOW what they’re doing; they have light, medium and dark roast, three varieties each, and their house choice was perfect for cappuccino over the oat milk they use - one of five (!) non dairy options.
This is where you want to be! Super badass coffeeshop vibes set in a converted Ford Tractor Dealership from decades ago with a seating bar facing out the panoramic showcase window overlooking the back alley. Great place to chill and grab a wide selection of cold drinks along with any coffee drinks and the best milk/milk substitute variety around!Fav- hot med. Vanilla Latte w/ oat milk 😋
Great coffee and matcha, super super cute little place
We stop by for a coffee. It was excellent
The coffee was awesomeness, but the place is sad, need a renovation urgent.
Great iced americano and vegan peanut butter apple muffin on a road trip. When in Boone, I will be back.
The best drinks and food.
Wonderful Coffee! It seems to be a very popular spot! I found it too crowded myself. There isnt much space to stand in line if there is one. The staff were very nice and coffee was very delicious!
Was in town visiting and asked around for a place to enjoy a good cup of cocoa with the kids and I was told Espresso News was the place to go. My 2 kids thoroughly enjoyed their hot chocolates, the wife said her Mocha was great, and my iced latte was at least 3 times better (and half the price) than the Starbucks alternative. The baristas were super friendly and the place was full of young, studious college-goers that are probably going to put off having kids for another 10 years after having to endure my 2 little hell raisers (and all the chaos we brought into the cafe). Would definitely stop by again on our next trip to Boone.
This is my go to for coffee when Im working a dbl. Quick and very friendly service. Always have what I want and make it perfect. Love the atmosphere as well its homey!
Every time I go there it’s always a bad experience and not worth the coffee or the pastries aswell as there’s no need to be rude to customers. I’m sorry your 40 and working at a coffee shop. Wouldn’t go there at all local lion is way better even the set up and the drinks.
This is a pretty cool coffee shop. Its kind of hidden behind the climbing wall, which is nice. They have great service and the iced coffee is some of the best Ive ever had!
Fantastic coffee and atmosphere, parking is limited, but theyre a short walk from almost every public lot in town
Great atmosphere and fantastic customer service. Well be back, and recommend this place to all of our friends. (Check out the upstairs area!)
This coffee shop is a nice place to go to study or hang out and has a pleasant atmosphere. The coffee, smoothies, and steamers are quite good, but can be expensive. During the Appalachian State school year the shop can get a bit crowded for groups of people, but in the Summer the seats are significantly more available. The service is normally fairly quick. All in all, its a great place to go for a quick coffee or to stay a while.
Sans quar (as the ladies on the Red Scare Pod say), this place is probably redolent with that espièglerie I endeavor to avoid. Avec quarantine, its fine.
Great coffee, great place to stay and do work. Very cozy, and offer 4 types of alternative milk. Also offer a variety of muffins and scones, typically have at least one vegan option. Great location near campus and favored by locals.
Busy Appalachian family weekend Sunday! Thankfully this nook of a spot is hidden from the masses. Coffee selection is superb and fresh made muffins and scones (Feta and Rosemary!?!) are stellar breakfast options. Thank you ladies! You helped us start our day right :)
Best stand alone coffee shop Ive ever been to. Comfortable even when its busy.
Didnt need caffeine, so ordered a peppermint steamer, my favorite Christmas drink. Its a simple drink, but was perfect. Foam was perfect. Temp was perfect.
My friends loved it. they finished their coffee before we even got back to my apartment
I went here to study at 8:15pm because Google says they are open till 10. At 8:50, after I got comfy, the barista came around and told the customers individually they were closing in ten minutes! I have been here till 10 on other nights. If this isnt your schedule, then update your hours on Google. I would not have ordered a drink and sat down if I had known that they were closing so soon. I was very disappointed.
Local staple in downtown Boone! Eclectic coffee shop, good selection of brews and a decent study environment. Gets crowded.
Tasty drinks and a cool atmosphere. Be sure to try the fresh baked goods. Really nice coffee shop, definitely worth a visit. Can get a little busy in the morning on weekends.
“Great place for snacks and breakfast”Espresso News is located in the main building, a short walk from where the main check-in lobby is located. This place is where I had breakfast a few days. I had a breakfast burrito (turkey, egg, and cheese) as well as a breakfast bagel. It was decently priced for a 5 star resort. I went back a few more times
Always a great experience! I love the quirky, warm vibe. Good service, drinks, and they play great music. A+
A nice place to have a rest, coffee is more than decent, I would prefer american coffee than the espresso and cappuccino, coming from Italy and tasting coffee is always an hard challenge, they are sufficient, but not good. In the opposite, muffins are amazing, super good. A nice place to go if you like coffee shops.
This is always my favorite place to hang out in Boone. I havent been there in about five years; but, its still pretty much the same. Relaxing and comfortable. Thank you.
I enjoyed a well made cappuccino this afternoon while working on a project and waiting for a friend. The wifi was strong. There seemed to be just as many people working solo, like me, as there were socializing, and so it felt very welcoming to me. I noticed that there were many choices available for pastries - even a savory choice. There seemed to be more than enough seating for any patron who might want to sit down and stay a while, although I did learn later in the day that downtown was less busy than normal, likely from todays super strong winds. I found the staff to be highly professional and helpful. The atmosphere, which is just as important to me as the coffee, was bright and uncomplicated, as was the conversation that gently filled the space without becoming intrusive.
Nice local coffee shop in Boone. Cappuccinos were very good. Location is not great and small seating area Only have a view of parking lot - and only 3 parking spots. But worth it for a good cup of coffee.
One of my favorite places to get coffee and study. The upstairs atmosphere reminds me of a wood cabin making for a great place to read or work on schoolwork. They also serve beer and have plenty of seating upstairs and down. Great place for a coffee date!
Everything that you buy here you can count in being good. The service is relatively fast and is polite. The prices are a bit high for my tastes however.
Extended menu. Nice atmosphere. Not a whole lot of parking...
I feel cooler than I really am when I hang out here.
I dont really go to coffee shops for the taste of the coffee. I certainly avoid bad tasting coffee, but I dont get very technical about it because it mostly tastes good to me everywhere. With that being said, Im no expert on coffee, and I highly doubt most people are either. This is why I go to a coffee shop more for the atmosphere. E news has such a unique vibe to it with all its nooks and comfy spots scattered around up stairs. Its like if you want to be anti-social but not alone but also dont mind bumping into an ex or two, this is the place to go. The coffee and baked goods taste great too. Ive never had any issues with the employees, but none of them stand out with their service either which is kind of how I like it when I havent had my cup of joe yet. If you havent been here, you have to go because of the experience. If youve been, keep going and find yourself a nook to sit in for hours while you read or do homework. Its therapy.
Best cup of coffee I ever had. Great place. Can’t wait to go again.
Great product for good price.
Cool college town coffee shop. Eclectic seating. Cramped. Vibrant. Great place to hang out if you can find a spot.
Ive been going here since college. Really cool vibe, great drip coffee (discount if you bring your own mug). The pastries are also quite different delicious
Friendliest business in the entire town of Boone plus they have the best coffee!! Best cortado I ever had!! And the vegan pastries are amazing! Wish I could give them 100 stars!!
Cool vibe! Helpful and friendly staff. Great coffee. The scones were AMAZING!!!
Needed a morning coffee to get the day kick-started. The coffee was good, and we were pleasantly surprised by the baked goods too. Friendly staff, good coffee and baked goods, perfect place to start the day.
Love the quirky shape of the building, and the little nitch of the location. They also have tasty coffee and delicious scones. Nice little visit here during our conference. Thanks, yall.
Barista made three custom order Java drinks for us. Not only were they yummy, but the perfect temperature.
Really good espresso & service. Great place to get a little work done as well.
Best place for coffee and to get work done in a cozy setting with kind staff.
Hands down has the best coffee and espresso in town! would recommend to anyone!
Cute, cozy atmosphere. The music selection is amazing, and the service is quick. Great place to grab a coffee and maybe a snack before class.
Good people, good coffee, good music.
Genuinely the best coffee Ive had in my life.
This Bohemian style coffee shop is a great place to relax for a little while and catch up on some reading or invigorate your creative thoughts. The coffee is great and the people that work there are good at what they do.
Classic hipster coffee shop complete with vagrants on porch and sneers if you order something that isnt considered cool (I consider these features to be necessary at such an establishment). Great coffee for Boone, good-to-great for a bigger metro.
Always great coffee & excellent service. Never disappointed.
Only coffee shop I go to. Super cool and chill place and the service is great
Great coffee shop in downtown. Perfect to listen to some light music and unwind, have a first date or get your study on. Good for townies and students alike.
This place was really nice. I enjoyed a cup of Etheopian coffee and got some beans to go. I ended up just eating the beans they were so tasty, haha.
Great place, always a must if youre in the area
The Espresso News espresso was newsworthy. Deep, complex flavor, rich crema. I went for the espresso and so very glad I chose this place above all the other coffee options in Boone.
Despite how busy they were, they got our coffee and lattes out quickly!
Great place. I really appreciate their daily vegan muffin options and varieties of drinks. Great for a late snack. The hot chocolate and chai do not disappoint.
Best coffee shop in Boone, and its clearly popular. Get a baked good, especially the muffins and scones. Good tea selection too!
It was OK . A nice environment & friendly staff, but not overly impressed with my drink.
The perfect coffee shop. Variety of in-house roasted coffees, various freshly baked goods, and perfect atmosphere.
Coffee is delicious and is a wonderful place to chat, read, or do homework. Parking is very limited however
Great coffee shop in Boone. Coffee is always top notch. Location is great. Perfect place to sit and study or read.
Not only a great cup of coffee but a great place to be as well. Very cozy and great music selection. Doesnt feel crowded but still not too open.
Best coffee beans east of Santa Cruz. Its also a great place to enjoy coffee. I have frequented this shop for 20 years and though I dont live in in Boone anymore, I look forward to going there every time I visit.
Nice coffee shop, close to campus.
