I needed a new place to take my vehicle after a horrible experience with the dealership. I was very hesitant to trust anyone, but Tuffy was highly recommended and I am so happy I gave them a chance. Everyone was super friendly and the place is amazingly clean. It felt like I was waiting in a friends living room. I appreciate how thorough they were and I never felt pressured to get extra work done. I will definitely be back for other services.

Tuffy Tire and Auto Service Center in Bourbonnais, IL has wonderful staff who are kind and welcoming, supportive, and provides high quality work for your various auto needs. I came in for an oil change and tire rotation services. Julie at the front desk was welcoming and cheerful. The waiting area truly provides a comfortable and safe environment with an assortment of beverages and snacks. Public health and safety standards during covid-19 are of importance in the waiting area with air filters. The bathroom is maintained very well with plenty of hygienic supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, air fresheners, etc. The auto services itself are completed thoroughly with the highest standards and in a timely manner. I had an overall pleasant experience and would highly recommend others to visit this Tuffy Tire and Auto Service Center for your auto related needs.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Tried twice for an oil change. The first time was a walk in, I was told it would be 45 minutes before they could take my car in and then another hour to do the oil change. Fine, I left the car, walked to Quest to get some lab work done, stopped for lunch on the way back, and arrived back 2 hours later only to find out they still hadn’t started on my car. I very nicely asked for my keys back, and the receptionist apologized and asked if I wanted to make an appointment to avoid this in the future. So I made an appointment for the next week at 8am when they open.Today I arrived for my appointment, dropped the car off at 8am and again walked to quest to get labs done. I returned after an hour, and sat in the lobby for a half hour. I went up to the counter after an hour an a half and asked about my car, and it had still not been brought in! I asked why it wasn’t even started yet and guy told me they were waiting for a bay. Waiting for a bay for an hour and a half when my appointment was at the time of opening makes absolutely no sense. I will never try this place again.

The staff at Tuffy were very helpful and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond for my accommodations for a vehicle in order to get to work while they worked on my car. The owner himself drove me to work. I will be back and I highly recommend their services

I got my engine replaced 2 weeks ago, oil should have been put in the engine but my engine oil light has been flashing for 2 days now. I went to check how much oil I had in it and for one, the person that serviced my car forgot their flash light on top of my engine, and two the engine was bone dry when they said that they did an oil change on it. 0/10 would not recommend for the price I paid. Go somewhere else.

Came in with stripped lug nuts on a tow. They were super fast and extraordinarily helpful; if we lived in the area, Id bring my service here!Thanks to the team for slipping us into their busy schedule so we could get back on the road.Also, Julie is the best.

Had my engine replaced and they didn’t fully inspect the engine before putting it into my car didn’t replace the old spark plug they had on it from where ever they got the engine from so one of the spark plugs wouldn’t come out when i hired someone els to change them Tuffy auto in Bourbannais is the worst Tuffy auto i have ever been to they don’t care about the customers car all they car about is money they want you to keep coming back instead of fixing the problem the first time. I should’ve took my car to the Tuffy in Frankfort because they do a better job this place is money hungry

Gave me a quote for 1600 for a carburetor and a tuneup I agree to the price told them to fix it.. went to pick my car up they didn’t even do the tuneup and was still trying to charge me 1600.. I guess they thought I wasn’t going to check. so he knocked off 500 bucks I paid for it get in my car get down the road it won’t shift out of first gear he said they put the wrong carburetor on it after a week he still trying to tell me they can’t find one so I ask for a refund took it to another shop they put the same carburetor on it that Tuffy had on it drives fine now🤔🤔and all I pay total was 520$$ bucks

Got me in right away for oil change. Price was good. Got home few hours later and noticed oil on driveway, opened hood oil on engine looked underneath oil on frame. Called them took it in cleaned it best they could. Disappointed tech would send car out like that, over 20 oil changes different places never had problem like that. Would not go back. Oil still on driveway..Hard to find responsible help sometime. Wouldnt have cared if problem was rectified before I left.

Without a doubt, the Bourbonnais Tuffy Auto Repair deserves the highest review possible for customer service that far exceeds expectations. Recently, my mom and I were only a few hours into a very long drive for a weekend trip south, when our tire pressure light came on. We had just come through heavy construction and traffic in Chicago, and did not want to risk continuing too far without knowing what the problem was. We exited in Bourbonnais, and a Google search for tires nearby thankfully brought us to Tuffy Auto Repair.The incredible customer service we received at Tuffy was highlighted at several levels.- Julie and the technicians kindly welcomed us, and quickly fit us in for an appointment.- My young children were offered coloring pages, crayons, and snacks that helped help keep them occupied while we waited.- After a thorough inspection of the vehicle, we were informed that the warning light had been triggered by a sensor malfunction, and there was no damage or immediate concern that needed to be addressed with our tires.- The technician we spoke with completely supported our desire to continue our trip vs. having the sensor fixed immediately, and welcomed us back anytime.Our only regret about our experience at Tuffy is that we werent able to stay to have the tire sensor problem fixed. As we left the shop, one of my children remarked, You really dont see great service like that much anymore. My sentiments, completely. If we lived closer to Bourbonnais, we would not hesitate to return to Tuffy for all of our auto service needs.Thank you!

Service team seems somewhat knowledgeable, but I got all of my service plus a lot extra done for much cheaper at A-Team in countryside.. Also, when my normal mechanic in countryside looked at the suspension problems, he noticed even more than Tuffy did. Did all of the work (including other found problems) plus four tires instead of two for cheaper. Maybe its because I pulled up in an Audi, but saving $600 and getting even extra work done somewhere else kind of throws up a red flag about why it was so expensive at Tuffy... Just be safe and get a second opinion no matter what you are going in for

On Thursday afternoon, April 22nd, my wife and I began our quick weekend trip from Chicago to Springfield, Missouri to visit our son, his wife and our three grandchildren. Just prior to arriving in Bourbonnais we began to lose air in a back tire. We needed to get a quick repair so we could continue our trip. We tried three tire repair shops who had no great concern for our situation and said they couldnt help. By chance then we called Tuffy Tire. They said come over and theyd see what they could do, hoping to help us within the hour. Instead, they immediately looked at our tire and repaired it. They found a large screw in the tire. They also looked over our engine and gave a few suggestions for things that should be looked at when we returned to Chicago. Then they proceeded to not even charge us a thing for their kind attention to us. On top of all this, the waiting room has coffee, cookies, is well decorated and clean. A very pleasant place to wait. This is a business that shows they truly care about people. Thanks Tuffy Tire & Auto Service Center of Bourbonnais for making a possible catastrophe of a trip into a wonderful weekend with our family. We wish you all the best. You deserve it!

I dropped my Honda Civic off and they found quite a few problems. I dont know what the final cost will be or if they fixed everything so Ill have to edit my review after I pick it up. So far theyve been very professional.Since Im getting a lot of work done I hope they will be very fair too. I will let you know.Okay here is the edit. Paul and his staff did a great job. The estimate they gave me was a lot because there was a lot of problems with the car. It has quite a few miles on it . Over 400,000 miles . But its a Honda and it keeps running so I keep using it. Not only was the price less than the estimate (by a few hundred dollars), Paul allowed me to lower the price even more by using some coupons that had and even pointed one out that I didnt notice I could use. They do great work and theyre very friendly. I highly recommend them.

Took my Suzuki here in 2017. Misogynistic staff refused to talk to me, the sole owner of the car. They talked to my husband, who told them to talk to me. They did not fix my car. They charged us $700. Car acted worse. I moved to Michigan City and got a new mechanic. My new mechanic told me Tuffy had punctured my freeon hose and left a flashlight in the engine. They went on my credit report, billing me for a visit that never happened, and then four years later, they had the nerve to have someone talk to me on Facebook about the pictures I took, because they remodeled and wanted me to reflect that. If you value your car, do not come here. Now theyre trying to ask me to take this car back to them? I had to sell my car at a loss because of what they did. Why would I take a car back to a place that punctured the freeon tube when all I needed was the check engine light fixed? And they lied about me not paying the bill when I did. Absolutely horrible service. And who waits four whole years to ask someone about Facebook photos? Unprofessional, irresponsible. Avoid.

I went to get my tire fixed, they told me it would take 20 minutes so I didnt call anyone to pick me up. I waited an hour then asked how much longer it would take and they said it was almost done then another hour went by before it was done, I had to cancel an appointment because of their poor time management. They did good work on the tire though.

I had my Pontiac g6 towed there. They told me my alternator was no longer working. After they charged my battery, then said its not worth to fix. Attached is the belt that snapped to cause my car to no longer work! This is the only belt for my car. And the only reason i had no power steering is because its electric. Also attached is the diagram for the ONLY belt my vehicle has!

Paul and his team are very professional, courteous and know their stuff!!They didnt try to sell me on something I didnt need. Nor treat me like a damsel in distress, because Im a woman and dont know anything about cars.They explained everything they found wrong and only after I gave consent, did they make the necessary repairs. Then they showed me exactly what they did.I am very happy with Tuffy and Pauls team!!! They came highly recommended by my neighbors, and I will definitely recommend them to others.

I brought my Jeep Wrangler in recently for repairs, not sure how this place has ever received a bad review, for what it’s worth they’re an extremely informative staff and are very helpful. Paul is a great guy to do business with & gets back to you in a timely manner, and the receptionist there is a breath of fresh air to speak with. Any other problems the mechanics may run into they politely and professionally give an assessment without forcing any extra repairs, Personally I think it’s nice to know what else could be wrong with your vehicle so you can keep an eye on it and prevent further projects. Not that I’d be the one working on it, because I’ll bring my business back to Tuffy/Bourbonnais for any future repairs 😂

My husband brought in his vehicle to get a rear alignment at the advice of the location he received his new tires and we brought it to Tuffy, because our trusted shop couldnt see us for about a week. We thought it would be a quick thing and they told us we needed over $1,300 worth of work. We left and waited to see our shop and our mechanic said there was nothing else even needed other than the rear alignment and a few minor tweaks. It cost us less than $100 for the fix. Tuffy is a scam and will do anything to take all the money you have.

I have used Tuffys for quite a while. They send discount coupons very often and have excellent prices. Staff are super professional. Work is prompt. The offer of loaner and towing services is extremely appealing and the amount of ways they have to work out payments covers the entire gamut from high credit to bad credit. I will continue using Tuffys as my only shop and keep recommending as many people as i can to them.

Was told it’d take a hour for a alignment on my car, when it took 4.5 hours, then after the tech that was doing the work to my took it for a “test drive” which I called a joy ride, red lining each gear into 4th gear and maxing out my boost on the turbo, I said something to the manager at the desk and he fought me on it. The tech didn’t give time for the diesel oil to warm up nor the turbo and nothing was said or done. Highly disappointed and will NOT be going back.

Omg I feel like this place is money hungry especially towards women. I have spent 5000 to 6000 dollars on car repairs every little thing that’s wrong with my car they double the price and labor. It advertise free towing but he states not for batteries only because my car has batteries issues. I am actually going to make sure all of these items was really don’t to my care. I think they do something personal to my car just so I can bring it back.. After spending this much money you would think that they show customer appreciation no this place charge for everything and more. I am also going to get a second opinion on a lot of repairs..

It s a good old change company

Been going here for at least 6-7 yrs . Always been treated nicely an very helpful. Prices are competitive with the dealer I use to go to but the work is done in a more timely manner even without an appointment an a free loaner is available, I also work at a local repair shop but Tuffy is more convenient an expert trained staff never had a problem before. Always customers take time to write a bad review but not enough take time to write a good or fair one. Thank you Paul and the staff.

I was very surprised to find a company that takes reviews seriously and wanted to get things fixed.Thank you... completely redeemed themselves and will be getting more of my business.

DO NOT GO HERE! I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE! I brought my jeep into this place because I had a blown engine. I asked what the price would be and they quoted me 2500. They said the engine they put into my truck had 90,000 miles. So I told them to replace the engine. They then call me and said they needed to replace my clutch. They said I absolutely needed it done. So I say okay. When I go to pick up my truck the bill was over 3000 dollars. I look at the receipt and they add in all these extra charges for services I DID NOT ask for. Then when I ask for proof that the engine they put in had 90,000 miles they told me there was no way for them to tell me that. They were lying to my face. Then when I left I was just going to look up the engine number and look up the miles on the engine that way but Paul the skinny Low Life manager had scratched off the engine number so I could not look it up. A week after I got my truck back the check engine light came on. I brought it to another mechanic shop and they completely messed up putting in my engine. It ended up costing me another 400 dollars to get my engine running again. Then the other engine shop tells me the engine I had looked like it had 200 thousand plus miles on it. Do not go here. They will screw you over and overcharge you. Listen to me. I wish I woulda read all the other bad reviews before i was 3 grand in the hole. OH and on top of all that they put a smaller engine in my truck which diminished the value of it.

Been to this store several times for oil changes. Cars always return smelling of cigarette smoke because the mechanics are smoking while they service your car.Was there today and watched the guy changing my oil light up 3 times. Also discovered when I got home that my washer fluid wasnt filled and my tire pressure was incorrect.I have to admit though that the front desk folks are wonderful and very helpful.Also, my actual oil changes are good and fair priced. Just dont always seem to receive all the advertised goodies that are supposed to come with the oil change.

The review I originally gave was before I realized the bad work that was actually done by Tuffy for my car. 3 tires that were replaced were all done after 4 months without any having hit any hazards on the road. They replaced the first two, but they did not replaced the third. I’m frustrated because the car is my mom’s and she’s had to deal with these tires constantly going bad.I do not mean to be rude, but my advice would be to avoid Tuffy.

Not only have I had wrong parts replaced on my car but they had replaced my heating unit completely wrong in my car to begin with....the first day i got it back they kept my heated seats unplugged as well as my hazards.....after they fixed that the switch became faulty to turn my heat on and off......it hasnt even been a year yet and now its winter and my switch does not work worst fix it place in town!!!!!

I have been going to Tuffy since 2001 and recently I took in my car because I thought my transmission was slipping. I had previously called the Nissan service center to find the price of having it repaired. I was told that they dont repair transmissions, the replace them and it would be approximately $3000.00. I took it to Tuffy and was surprised it was the throttle sensor and it was a few hundred dollars to fix.As always I have been very pleased with Tuffy. They always repair what ever I need at a very reasonable price.

My daughter took her car in for an engine warning light that was causing the car to go into limp mode. She goes to school 4 hours from home so we were unable to help her with it. Tuffy replaced the sensor that was malfunctioning and did a few other items that werent related to the repair that added up to over $900. The problem was they didnt fix the cause of the issue just the symptom. The car broke down on Interstate 65 thirty minutes from their shop. We were not real happy with the extra work done that wasnt related to the issue and not fixing the real problem. We took the car into another shop and they diagnosed and fixed the problem right away. Pay attention to what they are trying to do to your car.

The service is exceptional. Paul will explain why something has to be done, and when it has to be done-- with no pressure to get it done there--however, the price is always reasonable, the work quality excellent, and the little things that need to be done are also addressed. The trust factor for me is at a comfort level I have never had before with anyone in the service industry.

The owner Tahseen and his guys took great care of me and made effort to bring me in on the repairs, explaining things every step of the way.My car was in and out of the shop for a major issue with the rear differential. The price was fair and they gave me a loaner Jeep to drive while they worked on the car. Paul (the guy who worked on my Volvo) made sure to stay in contact regularly to let me know what was going on and to ask whether or not to go ahead with certain repairs.After my initial repair, I was in an accident where the car spun off the road and rolled onto its side late at night.Tahseen and Paul went above and beyond to make sure everything was alright. After to car was towed to Tuffy, Paul came to the shop personally and made sure my brother and I had a car to get home. Tahseen called to make sure my brother and I were okay.The accident beat my car up but the guys at Tuffy took great care to make sure everything went smoothly.My used Volvo runs better now than it did when I first bought it.These guys will treat you fairly and take care of you, I wouldnt take my car anywhere else for major work.Thanks Tahseen!

They were so nice at first, you know before they told me that my ~300$ job was going to cost me $1000+ . I told them no, and they went sour about it. They were trying to make me pay for parts that didnt even exist on my car!! Literally, went to auto parts store to get them and the guy said You dont have these parts on your car. Worst experience, waste of time, the labor cost is 4× the cost it should be. Dont go here, especially women! They scam you.

Before I went to Tuffy, I always took my car to the dealership because I have a Volkswagen and I hear bad stories about bringing import vehicles to these kind of places. When I moved, I was new to the area and lived an hour away from a Volkswagen dealership. I chose Tuffy because the supervisor there was related to a co-worker. Tuffy is friendly and the supervisor was nice, but that didnt stop the mechanics from causing more problems and headaches than solve them.I brought my car in to get the oil changed and rotate the tires; they took out the VW logo center caps from the center of the rims which isnt even necessary to take off the tires. They forgot to put the logo caps back in when they gave me the car and when I asked to have them put back in they lost one.Another time, I had them replace the brake pads and rotors; immediately after pulling out, I had problems braking because they messed up the ABS sensor.When they changed my oil another time; it was winter, the hood latch got wet from snow and then froze while they had the hood open. I watched from the lobby as they continually opened and slammed my hood down trying to close it. A few minutes later they said they were done and pulled the car around. The hood was down but not completely latched, there is now a slight bulge on the top of my hood from them slamming it down, the latch was bent and could not completely latch. I opened the hood to see if I could close it properly and noticed they broke the oil dipstick and didnt say anything. I went back in to point it out and they said Oh, we forgot to tell you we ordered a new one. they then pulled the car back in only to take a hammer and crowbar to my hood latch and continually bend it around to fix the latch. I told them to get away from my car, never touch it again and that Im NEVER coming back!! That was the last time I went there; Its been almost 2 years since I took my car to Tuffy and instead go to the dealership. I havent had a problem since!

Our van broke down on I-57 and we called Tuffy. They had Mobbs Pro Tow call us and Mobbs towed our van and the boat we had on our hitch to Tuffy for service. Mobbs picked us up within 5 minutes and Tuffy serviced our van and we were back on the road in 3 hours. Great service and reasonable repair price.

Extremely overpriced and customer service is spotty at best. I have been to Tuffy multiple times, and sometimes it’s a great experience and other times it’s horrific.

This place is a total rip-off I would never ever recommend these people for anything. This 30 point service check that Hes talking about is nothing but 30 things that they will look at and try to sell you more things at outrages prices that most likley you may even not need.Plus i have never authorized this so called 30 point service but they decided to do it anyways without my permeation.I went to this place to replace a tire. I was charged a ridiculously hi price for that tire. They didnt have the tire in stock so they made me go there pay for the tire and then go get it replaced the next day. They would not take a credit card deposit over the phone. Now, i cant say that this tire was expensive, i felt that i was robbed. Then this guy comes to me telling me how i need this and how i need that... He thinks that after he robbed me i will let him rob me some more.... Plus this is a tire shop i would never ler them work on the mechanical thing on the car... I take it to Court Street Ford for that. They are just down the street on the next block.This people are also rude, specially the female at the front desk....

Had them do a ac charge up upon doing that they did an inspection of the car and said I needed breaks my breaks never squeaked nor squeeled until I left or rubbed then all of sudden I leave there they did kind of wierd also did not want to honor my coupon until I stressed the issue more than likely will not go back seems like another shop that tries to get more money out of you they kept insisting to bring my car back for breaks on some breaks I had no issue with until I went there.

Only go to tuffy’s if you want to wait two hours and 45 minutes for a malfunction the “accidentally” caused just for to finally get your car back to see another problem to pop up. Tuffy’s has got to be the worst auto repair store around. If you want real repairs done for your car or maybe even for free auto parts for free diagnostic and they will tell you exactly what’s wrong with your car and what needs to be done to fix it with no side effects. Tuffy’s does not care about you or your car just abot how much money they will get in their pockets. I have multiple friends who can vouch for me as well. All going in for somewhat simple tasks and go their to find out there is something new wrong with their car. Please save yourselves from having to pay to get half of what is in the engine bay replaced
