Great bike shop. Mechanics are very knowledgeable, have a good eye for detail and do really good work, which I’ve found is not always the case with other shops. Been in several times and alway good prices and quick turnaround.

Alter Cycles ordered Salsa fat bikes for my husband and I. Mason was fantastic and responsive to questions I had. The bikes were assembled perfectly. Such a cool store. Id love to just hang out and learn how to fix my bikes :)

Alter Cycles is the type of place bike shops should strive to become, but most fail. Every other shop Ive been to has made me feel like another face in the crowd. Sure, they all care about bikes and most do a decent job with what you pay them to do, but they could care less about you. Alter is different.Alter is a place that makes me want to stay. They know who I am and what I want. Alter isnt driven by a superiority complex that is common in the bicycle industry. Its not just another bike, here. Its my bike.

The crew here is killer. Took my bike in to have shock maintenance done and bearings replaced. Was turned around quickly the next day, and at a reasonable price. Even better, Mason proactively helped me fine-tune my suspension when he noticed it was too stiff and made a few other recommendations on things the bike could use. Super friendly, never rushed, happy to talk bikes with you and explain whats going on. Oh, and they shoot you an email receipt when all is done vs. forgetting to call you which seems to be the MO for most bike shops. Great shop in Bozeman!

I wanted to get some miles in on the Salsa they built for me before I reviewed.A. This bike is going strong with only the usual basic maintenance. These guys know their craft and were a great help while I picked sizes and such.B. Theyre friendly, theyre professional and not trying to just shoo you out with your new gear. If Id had more questions or concerns, Ive no doubt whatsoever Mason would have taken whatever time was needed to address them. I cant recommend this place enough.

Alter Cycles Bicycle Repair serviced my bike in the summer of 2014. The bike is older and was on the way out. There was also something wrong with the cartridge at the pedals from day one. The bike shop in Ohio where I had bought it from tried to repair it unsuccessfully.AterCycles serviced my bike and changed the cartridge. Now bike is running better than ever. I decided to keep it for a couple more years.I also liked the fast billing and communication via email.Great job!

Ive had a full bike and a internally geared wheel built by Alter Cycles and both times they have done an excellent job. The staff are knowledgeable and care about the work they do. Cant recommend them enough.

I came here to pick up some bike tubes for my wifes bike.I didnt know what she needed, but the staff was super helpful, they looked up her bike online to figure out what size tubes she needed.Its a cool little shop, very clean with nice people.

Great store with super helpful staff. The other bike stores in town have quite a bit of ego but these guys have none and will answer the stupidest questions!

I go to Alter for everything bike-related. They have the BEST mechanics in Bozeman. (Sidenote- I am SUPER picky about my bike maintenance). They are great for any type of bike - road, mountain, or cyclocross. Also, they have the coolest shop I have ever seen, even after living in the biking mecca of Tucson AZ.

I have had two bicycles in for service at Alter Cycles and both times Mason, the shop proprietor and mechanic performed the maintenance flawlessly. I am always trusting of a mechanic who suggest that what you think may be a problem isnt really a problem and that you shouldnt spend your hard earned money fixing it as Mason did with one of my requested fixes.

The best service shop ive been to in bozeman by far. Run by two incredibly talented dudes with passion and commitment to improving and cultivating bozeman bike scene.
