I never write reviews but after being helped yesterday and several times before I had to write one. Yesterday I called and asked if I could get my bike repaired after a pretty big crash riding bike park. He was able to fully true my wheels and get me a new brake set installed in less than 45 minutes for a very reasonable price. Any shop could have taken way longer on the repairs and charged way more for but at the gear wizard they are always doing what you need done and not over charging. If you need anything done for your bike or skis I would recommend going here!

A great bike shop with honest and respectable humans at the wheel. If your bike is a little older and you need parts this is definitely the place to go. One of the only Revel dealers in the Northwest. Theres so much bike history on the ceiling alone!

Brian is not only the best mechanic in Bozeman hes a legendary trail builder who laid the foundation for places like trestle and copper city. I was up for the Big Sky BME and he took the time to rebuild a failing Chris king hub that got me through all 8 stages of the race. Top notch mechanic and even better guy. stop by and get dialed

Legendary bike shop!!! I called around town about getting my tire trued and was told it would be nearly a month wait. Took it into The Gear Wizard (shortly before closing), and the owner straightened it out on the spot, as well as taking the time to answer all my questions. There is no doubt where I will be taking my bike in the future for any repairs.

Perhaps someone close to and caring about these folks should explain in some full spectrum manner to them essentially that not all of us who bring our business to them are doing so because we cant do it ourselves and are thus dependent on their assistance, but instead are almost entirely motivated by trying to help them avoid having to work at Walmart.

I have had nothing but good experiences with this shop. The prices are reasonable, but Brians expertise is invaluable. He is the type of guy who will stay after business hours to explain aluminums modulus of elasticity vs. carbon to you - he wants you to be an informed customer, unlike many shops. Dont take your bike anywhere else!

Great shop. We were looking for a 20 girls bike in first part of February. Most all other stores in town, including dept. stores, had next to nothing. Brian had 3 and was selling at 50% off! We ended up with a gently used bike (Specialized coaster), 2 new helmets and 2 bells for $125! Awesome store, owner and service. Thank you Brian, well be back!

By far the best experience I’ve had at any of the ski/bike shops in Bozeman. Brian Is incredibly knowledgeable and very approachable with any questions you might have. Super fast mount as well! Definitely telling all my friends to make this their hometown ski shop, if you want to keep it local there’s no better place.

In response to George: I am sorry to hear that he had a bad experience. I have to indicate that my experience was completely the opposite of what George described. Bike Peddler has the cheapest tune ups in town and the owner is quite possibly the nicest man on the planet. He even gave me extra money towards a trade in exchange for some kids books I was taking to the thrift store. The owner has always dropped everything when I came in to attend to my needs and gone above and beyond to make my experience a pleasant one. Above all, however: dont take my word for it. Go to the shop and form your own opinion!

Went to the Gear Wizard looking for 24 bike for my daughter. The guys were very helpful and showed us their selection of new and used. We cam back later to try the used bike they had been tuning up. They worked with my daughter for quite awhile making sure it ran smoothly and fit her just right . We ended up getting a tuned up, cleaned up bike for $100 which was a steal compared to what we saw at the bike swap that morning.I will definitely be going back and would highly recommend those guys!

This has been my go-to shop for two years now. It reminds me of the shops I grew up going to, where the staff is helpful, unassuming, and knowledgeable. The Gear Wizard is a breath of fresh air-- only a handful of $3K+ bikes hanging around, while the majority of bikes for sale are quality used or budget-friendly new bikes. Brian has helped me on a dozen occasions, rebuilding wheels Im too cheap to replace, solving tricky brake issues, and patiently working on seating fussy tubeless tires. I am always surprised when I see the bill for service, which has been less than I expect every time-- very fair. I recommend giving The Gear Wizard a try-- you probably wont find your $8K drool-machines, but youll find friendly people that are eager to take care of you.

I would highly recommend this bike shop. They are knowledgeable, their shop is clean and well organized, and they communicate well. While Bike Peddler looks like one of those local stores we all love to support, my experience after buying two new bikes there is that they are only concerned with profit maximization. They provided absolute no guarantee for their work and they are more expensive than other stores. Sadly, my recommendation is “two thumbs down”

This was exactly the store I needed to find on my cross-country trip in this complex vehicle. Many bike shops are afraid to even look at it. These guys dug in. Brian and one of his customers worked out an extremely clever adapter for the gun standard Hub of this vehicle. Was a game changer. Bozeman is lucky to have this store.

I came here to get a tune up and my snow tires changed a couple months ago. They were friendly and seem to really enjoy their jobs. I was having some troubles with my bike a couple days ago and brought it in. Not only did they remember my bike, but it turned out to be something really simple and they fixed it while I waited! They have every component for excellent service. I cant tell you how happy I am I chose this bike shope and would recommend it to everyone. I know I wont be taking my service any where else. Great bike shop. Traded in an old bike and got more credit than I thought I would and then purchased a KHS hardtail from last season for a nice price. Owner has always been friendly and helpful when I have small questions either in person or over the phone. In my experience, these guys know their stuff and work well in their smaller, more intimate atmosphere. They dont have the selection of new bikes other places have, but they have good new products, plenty of used options, and excellent service.

I purchased a KHS mountain bike from this establishment in May 2013. While the test ride of the bike seemed ok, there were a couple of minor issues brake wise. The first shop tech who looked at it didnt know what was wrong with it,. The owner, Brian Wood, looked at it, made one adjustment and declared it fixed. From the first day of owning this bike, until now, I have had nothing but issues with the disc brakes. They will not stay mounted properly. I called Bike Peddler and left a message for Brian twice within the first 3 weeks of owning this bike and never received a return call. At that point, I refused to waste my time on them. After the lack of communication from the Brian at the Bike Peddler, I had a Barnett certified mechanic take a look at the calipers, along with the additional shifting issues I had from the first day. He was able to easily solve my front and rear derailleur issues in about 5 minutes. Seems they left the Bike Peddler installed incorrectly. Will I go back. No. Will I recommend? No. If they cant call their customers back they dont deserve to have them in the first place.
