I’ve been using Cottman over 2 years since they conducted my full transmission replacement. Jason is great to work with, he communicates open and honestly. I’ve continued using them for routine maintenance and he always gets it done in a timely manner.

I had an unique experience. We had our transmission done at a shop up in Maryland. My check engine light had come on. When I tried to call the shop up in Md. I got the message that the number was no longer in service. I went to the Md shop website and sent them a message that wasnt returned. I finally stumbled on a number for a towing company that had done some work for the Md shop. The tow company advised me that the Md. transmission shops owner had died a couple months earlier and that the company went out of business. My cars warranty expired while I was trying to contact the Md shop (12 months) but was less than the 12,000 miles (

He scheduled an appointment, diagnosed my problem, and reviewed my options with me. We proceeded with rebuild snd they got the vehicle back to me a day before I expected. My family and I were traveling through Charlotte from DC on our way to Orlando when our transmission failed (Saturday December 19). On Monday morning I called Jason, who sent a tow company within the hour to retrieve my vehicle. Jason was thorough and communication was constantly keeping me updated, with a diagnosis that I needed a new transmission. Jason was efficiently working with my warranty company, by the end of business day a new transmission was ordered and due to arrive Tuesday. While there was a delivery mishap due to the company transporting the new transmission, Jason personally sent an employee to pick up the unit so there were no delays. The next day, Jason informs me my vehicle’s new transmission replacement was complete; astonishing and remarkable under 48 hours! My Suburban runs and drives better than ever and I am grateful to Jason and his team that we were on the road in time to get home for Christmas. I would highly recommend Cottman to ANYONE needing their transmission or vehicle serviced for any reason. They did not fix the transmitian parts and also broke the whole thing. Besides, they damaged my car while lifting it and did not care at all to repair nor refund me . They took ages to return my car a lot worse when I trusted it on them to repair. I would never recommend it to anyone and the manager is xenophobic and rude.

I highly recommend Cottman. Jason is a true professional that knows how to run the front office as well as the shop. He stayed late on a Friday night to make sure everything was perfect with the new transmission in my 2011 Jeep. He even followed up with a phone call on Monday to check in! No one wants to spend money on a transmission, but if youre having problems call Jason. Plus, Cottman applies an 18 month /18,000 mile warranty to their transmissions.

Jason is the man. From my opinion this is the best Auto shop in Charlotte. Spoke to Jason on a Friday about my Chevy Tahoe 05. The car was having reversing issue, he advised that I bring it in ASAP. By Monday they towed my car from my house and took it to their shop, within the same day they were able to diagnose the car and give me a very REASONABLE cost to fixed the issue, they even found additional issue with thw break lines and told me about it. By Thursday within the same week my car was fixed and I was able to drive it again after it was down for couple of months. All thanks to these guys. Has to be some of the best group of mechanics I have ever dealt with. I needed a clutch change in my old 96 Mitsubishi 3000gt and they practically cut the price in half of the Performance Auto Center (who specialize in my vehicle). The entire time they were changing everything out they would let me know of any troubles they seen and tell me how it affects my vehicle and safety. 10/10 I would recommend them before any one else. Jason (store manager) and Adam ( Mechanic) were both amazing and gave me advice on what I should do next to prolong the life on my vehicle. I WILL be going back to them if I need any work done.

I was referred to this particular Cottman location by my local and trusted mechanic. Jason and his team precisely diagnosed my vehicles issue, which happened to not be my transmission, and then provided me with a detailed description of the problem. Despite the time and labor they spent accurately diagnosing my problem, they had no expectation I would ask them to fix it. But after all they had done for me, how could I have gone somewhere else? Spent ~$3000 for a transmission rebuild. Got it back the first day and it was leaking transmission fluid. Took it back in, they tried to charge me to fix the leak but ultimately took care of it. About 6 months later, transmission failed again. Front end seal failed which they stated was fine when they were doing the rebuild. Had to pay a few hundred dollars to fix that.

While I ended spending a lot more than I wanted to, I had a great experience with Cottman Transmission South Charlotte.Jason was wonderful to work with, he explained everything thoroughly and advised me thoughtfully. I needed a transmission rebuild in the end, not a cheap process, but I needed someone I trust with doing so.I went to Cottman based on customer reviews and I was not let down. They did a wonderful job. They did a complete rebuild on my transmission and actually got it done in one day. Since then I have gone out of town and it held up great. I drive 300-400 miles a day and it runs better now than when I bought it new. Thanks guys.

Sent my car to have the transmission rebuilt. After a few weeks noticed the transmission seal was leaking. They fixed the seal under warranty. Now a few months again the transmission seal is leaking fluid. Car is slower after the transmission rebuild.

After having the BMW dealership say that we needed a transmission, we decided to bring our 750 here and that was the best decision we could have made. They are honest, fast, and friendly. It turned out that we did not need a new transmission and they saved us over $7,000. The car now runs great and they found what was wrong after taking it two BMW dealerships. I had the transmission in my 2004 Suburban rebuilt here and Im completely satisfied. I dealt with Jack, the manager, and he was completely committed to making sure I was satisfied and understood the work that he was going to perform. I actually called him the week he was moving his entire shop down from Cornelius and he went out of his way to get the work done because it was more convenient for me to have it done that week than to wait until he had moved. After inspecting the transmission he was able to give me a detailed quote and did not deviate from it. I would highly recommend working with Jack at Cottman Transmission.

Great job on my transmission rebuild. Was not sure were to go and am sure glad I gave Cottman a try. Truck shifts so smooth you can not feel it and no more clunking when putting it in gear. Added years to the life of my truck.

This is one of the two best shops I have been to. The other one was in Augusta, Georgia.These people are trustworthy.Brought my car over to to check transmission as there seems to be a special noise.They checked the transmission and told me everything is all right. Then I asked them that if transmission fluid should be changed. They said the fluid is good. No need to change.I got this 9 years old car, other shops could find all sorts of issues to try to rip off customers.By the way, the diagnosis is free. They let me go without charging even 1 dollar.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Jason, the manager, was very straight forward with me when it came to pricing and the repairs that were needed. They didnt try to upsell me or pressure me to make repairs. The process was simple. He told me what needed to be done and left it up to me to allow them to proceed. My transmission was rebuilt in under 48 hours and now my van runs like new. I will definitely return in case any of my other cars have transmission problems. I worked directly with Jason over the phone when my Ford Fusion broke down on the interstate due to transmission problems (according to the dealership). When I towed the vehicle over to Cottman, they discovered the real problem was actually a broken axle. Cottman had every opportunity to take advantage of me and the situation, but they didnt. Honest, professional and responsive, Cottman potentially saved me thousands of dollars in transmission repairs. I highly recommend them as your first stop towards investigating any problems with your transmission.

Came here Friday to have my car checked. The older white guy behind the counter was extremely rude. I could tell as soon as my husband and I walked in (both POC) he didnt want to deal with us. We told him our issue, and he said he didnt have time to look at our car, not even offering up another time to come back. While we were getting ready to leave, he got a phone call, and while on said call, told the person to come right on over and Ill look at it. We left immediately there after. There is no place in our lives for bigotry.

Took my F150 in for what I thought was transmission issues. They diagnosed engine issues instead and not transmission related. They were friendly and kept me informed and I was able to take truck for service with the knowedge they provided. No charge for their diag. I highly recommend.

This place is a joke! They out right lied about trying to fix our company truck. Any update on the vehicle had to be solicited. Finally had it towed somewhere else to get it looked at. They literally did nothing the entire time it was there! Worst customer service I have ever experienced . Probably best they didnt touch it. If their mechanical skills are in line with their customer service, Im sure they would have mess it up even more!

So even before I went win Jason suggested I call Jeep because I was covered in drive train warranty. Who does that? another place had me coming in, never asked what the mileage was.. A friend suggested I call this location..I did and am very lucky I did. The most knowledgeable and friendly auto repair shop I have been to in Charlotte. Within minutes of arriving to their shop they were able to find the problem with my truck and were very helpful in showing me the problem and even problem-solving to get it fixed right before the holidays and return the truck to me as quickly as possible, I never felt out of the loop. Cottman Transmission surpassed all my expectations and is now my go to for all my auto needs.

I have not spent any $ here but i had another shop replace my serpentine belt after that i had problems with alternator.. other shop not Cottmans replaced alternator.. same shop that replaced serpentine belt.... after that i had a trans selenoid error.. i went to Cottman Transmission. They cleared code.... drove my car for 30 miles and it went back to normal. this saved me 700 dollars. thanks Cottman.. Jason helped me.. he seems like a good guy...

Brought my car here for a second opinion on some transmission work. Turns out my transmission was fine and I had another (less expensive) issue. Cottman saved me A LOT of $$$ and they were extremely helpful and courteous.

Call to get my transmission fix in my car, Spoke to Jason whom explain what they would do and gave me a quote that day. I drop my car off and Jason call me updates of my car. Jason was a very nice man. And yes if I have any more Transmission problems or any of my family or friends we will go to Cottman transmission.

Got a bullet proof transmission built for my camaro and it drives like new. No problems and really good customer service.

I took my 2010 Nissan Frontier to Cottmans after the rear differential completely gave out. The guys at Cottmans quickly diagnosed the problem, which turned out to be the spider gears inside the differentials. It turned out that finding the correct spider gears for this particular truck was easier said then done. However, Jody, the district manager, was able to track down a part that would work. They saved my almost a grand in repairs by finding this part and not having to replace the entire back axle. I highly recommend Cottmans, they provide quick, honest, and quality service at a competitive price.
