Dennis’ moving team was professional and caring. When they heard my dog was upset with the move, each of them made sure to talk to her and touch her. They didn’t get upset when I asked them to move a piece multiple times. Considerate, kind, helpful ... I can’t say enough. I have used them before and I will use them again. Outstanding!!

I had a terrible experience with Smooth Move movers the last time I moved. It was so bad, it made me think all movers would be terrible so I was prepared for the worst. However, Student Services were great to work with from the first point of contact. They were easy to reach, responsive, and clear in scheduling the move. On the day of the move, they sent an extremely efficient three-person crew who wrapped my furniture without being asked and handled it with as much care as if they were handling their own things. I commend Mitchell, Taio, and Kennedy for being punctual, professional, and conscientious when handling my furniture and piano. Team leader Mitchell settled my bill as soon as the move was completed and I was charged exactly what I expected to pay based on the duration of the job. The experience with Student Services earns my endorsement based on their excellent staff and client-friendly service. I will use them again and recommend them to anybody needing professional help with a move.

I really enjoyed working with this company! From start to finish, everyone was friendly and helpful. Karen in the office was extremely helpful during the planning stages of the move. The movers themselves were great to work with too, they were friendly, courtesy, professional and efficient. I knew we were in good hands. Mitchell as the team leader really stood out, he took his leadership role very seriously and I could tell how effective he was.

We used Student Services for packing and moving, a local move, in October 2020.(1) Packing services. This was our second move in 8 months, and we had not fully unpacked from our first move, so there was less packing for Student Services to handle. This was my fourth time using packing services from a moving company, and the first time that I had to micromanage the crew. I saw that they were packing some things and not others, and had to continuously point out things that they had left behind. Boxes were sloppily taped and left stacked in areas where they would be in our way, such as blocking the oven and shower. After the crew left, I discovered many items that hadn’t been packed. I ended up spending 90 minutes packing those items myself in the middle of the night so that our move wouldn’t be delayed the next day.(2) The move day. Our household consists of two adults and a dog, and we have about the average amount of stuff for an under 3,000 sf single family home. In preparation for a smooth and efficient move, we had prepared scale diagrams of the rooms in our new home, with detailed furniture layouts. We moved a distance of 7.5 miles. Student Services had provided an estimate of 8 hours, 15 minutes for our move (loading, driving, and unloading). We thought this was too conservative and immediately questioned it, but the company stood firm; however, we set our expectations for a 10-hour move. Instead, the move took 13 hours and 15 minutes, and ended after 10pm. When I asked the foreman what he thought went wrong, he said “Management.” He then went on to say that it would have taken a larger crew to complete our move in the estimated time frame. I contacted the company president on the next business day and our invoice was adjusted to reflect the estimated, rather than actual, number of hours, which we appreciated. But that did not change the fact that what should have been a happy day for us, moving into our new home, frankly sucked.(3) Extensive damages. Student Services employees damaged a wall in both the house we moved out from (a rental) and the house we moved into (which we had just purchased). They also damaged 5 pieces of furniture as well as a piece of fitness equipment. In addition, there was minor damage to several items that were packed. We filed a claim immediately for these damages. Student Services arranged for vendors to make these repairs, and the repairs were performed satisfactorily, but not efficiently; they were not complete until mid-January, nearly three months after our move. I have moved many times -- including two cross-country moves -- and this is the first time I have ever filed a claim for furniture and home damage. We expected that, being responsible for the damages, Student Services would be more proactive in getting our repairs accomplished -- but they merely contacted and paid the vendors and there was no sense of urgency on their part to make this situation right for us.When it became clear that our repairs were going to drag on for months, we decided to hold off on paying our invoice until our repairs were completed. On Dec 21, we received an email asking about the status of our payment. I replied and requested that they waive our charges given that, on top of the extremely negative packing and moving experience, our repairs were still incomplete. I received no response to my email, but nearly 3 weeks later, I received a certified letter demanding immediate payment and lightly threatening to send us to collections. We were pretty surprised, given that we had not actually refused payment and had remained polite and courteous throughout this whole ordeal. At this point, we felt uncomfortable trusting Student Services with our credit card information, so we mailed a check. We have since discovered more damages, but at this point we just want to put this awful experience behind us and not have to deal with them any further.We definitely do not recommend Student Services. We don’t know why the move experience was so horrible, except that the crews seemed poorly trained.

Student Services moved me out of my Charlottesville apartment and into my New York apartment. They were safe (wearing masks, socially distancing), prompt, and attentive. I honestly couldnt have asked for a better experience with a more professional moving company.

The young men were courteous, wrapped the furniture (which were glass front cabinets) with great care and carried everything with great care. Always polite and friendly. The team leader is always professional too. This is the 2nd time in 8 yrs that we have used them. They had competitive pricing to begin with but then the final invoice ended up being less than expected, so that is always a plus!Also, found out it is still being at least partially managed by the same guy for about 2 decades. My oldest brother worked for him when HE was still in college. Crazy cool! If we ever move again, I know who we’ll pick for the service!

Student Services did a wonderful job moving me to my new home. They had to disassemble and reassemble all of my beds, including a very complicated platform bed, and had to carry the bulk of my furniture to the second floor of my new house up a staircase with 2 landings. And they never scuffed up my walls or caused any damage to my belongings. The guys were very personable and professional the entire time. I also appreciate the fairness of their pricing method - a different moving company who is top rated in this area quoted me $300 more for the same job and told me that was a discounted price - dont be fooled by other companies claiming to be more professional! I highly recommend Student Services for the overall experience at an affordable price.

I got a bunch of quotes and spoke with various movers about my local move, I have also used other companies in the past but this was my largest move to date. I ended up going with Student Services despite being hesitant about the overall cost (not just of them but of hiring movers in general since all the quotes were higher than I wanted to pay). They showed up on time, all interactions on the phone and in person were smooth and positive, and they clearly hustled throughout the whole move process. I felt that they were really giving me full effort, and were extremely careful and mindful with my things and home. All the movers were polite and were constantly moving briskly to get stuff loaded quickly. They never made me feel bad for having 2 flights of stairs in the first location or moving an item to another spot in my new place. They were worth every penny, I would absolutely recommend them and use them again.

They took great care in wrapping our furniture and carrying in our furniture as to not damage the pieces or the walls. I recently moved to NC and used Student Services. We hear so many horror stories. I experienced none of them. The pricing was exactly as promised and one of the lower bids compared to three others. Everyone arrived on time and were hardworking. My two movers were Matt and Kyle Henderson. They were amazing. Very careful with my things. Loading and unloading was so fast. Absolutely nothing was damaged in any way. They were awesome placing my furniture and making sure I was satisfied. It was a pleasure working with your company!

Student Services Moving & Storage was a delight to work with! I was having a hard time finding movers who were available for my long-distance move at relatively short (a little over a week) notice, but then I found Student Services and they were able to accommodate my move. The entire process was smooth and simple, from the home visit for the estimate to the arrival of the movers to help finish packing my last odds and ends and move the entire lot. I also cant speak highly enough of the guys who came to help with the move - quick and professional and super helpful. They packed and moved everything without any damage or problems, and even helped me to keep my terrified indoor cat in check (when she escaped the room where she was hiding the movers helped slam the front door shut so the cat wouldnt get out, and helped me recapture her so she wouldnt be underfoot and hurt during the moving process). Overall, Student Services made my hectic moving experience relatively painless. I would definitely hire them again!

Your guys were on time and stayed busy.They were committed, no question, and pretty well trained. I did think they should have put more floor runners in certain places at Gilliams Mtn Ct. There was a fair amount of muddy footprints at a doorway in the doenstairs near a door. They also left an emply mattress box there. Do you want to come and get it? All in all a good job. Impressive that they worked through w/no lunch until finished.

I used these guys once and it was awful. The movers were so slow and were borderline rude. And their price was highest in town so I really thought I would get good service. NOT EVEN CLOSE. My irreplaceable ceramic statues that are family heirlooms both got chipped despite being wrapped up. They were just blatantly careless. I couldnt believe it. Stay far far away from these guys.
