My 1991 Ford Explorer sounded like it needed a new Torque Convertor and possible Transmission overhaul with 260,000 miles on the Transmission. The rumble strip noise was found to be caused by a loose bolt on a flange at the rear Differential. The cost was negligible to repair, but some shops might have taken advantage of this and I never would have known the truth. Mechanical expertise was required to find the real problem. After a horrible experience with the dealership, I had my vehicle sent to Calvert Automotive and Jason was extremely helpful, honest and got my vehicle up and running in a timely manner and saved me THOUSANDS of dollars that the dealership was trying to charge me. Great place with a long history in Denton.

We operate a transport service for people who use wheelchairs. The starter on our van died. We called Calvert. We explained that with our vehicle down, we would have to use an ambulance service, and eat the extra cost. Calvert got our van up and running before 9:00 AM, and we did not have to use the ambulance service, saving us hundreds, perhaps thousands, of dollars.God Bless them!

Great service, took in for faulty starter. They discovered it was not starter that was the problem but the TIPM. They were unable to find part, however still changed starter(original was in bad shape). And they were very polite, respectful and had tried all day to find it. Great honest people. Will continue to go to them for any mechanical issues.

I get very attached to my cars & trucks, they go back to 1978. I will never step foot in any other auto repair shop again because I know I will not get Calverts level of service and honesty. Ive had trouble with dishonest/sexist mechanics in the past, but here they are always straight-forward and explain whats going on with my car in laymans terms so I can understand and have never, ever disrespected me. Not only that, but they bring other issues to my attention but dont try to pressure me to spend beyond my means, and have even offered to give me a lift when I had to drop off my car before work. Took our truck for service and inspection. Friendly staff, listened to what we needed, followed up with us so we knew what was going on, no surprise with the bill! The estimate was spot on. I highly recommend them. They didnt try and do additional unnecessary work.

Took a 1999 Silverado to Calvert’s that had been gifted to me and the truck had been sitting for close to a year. Went to high school with Daniel and Amy and know they are good honest people. I asked them to thoroughly go over the truck to make sure it is reliable because it is going to be my 17 year old sons first vehicle. Told them no big hurry. Got a call from Amy this past Friday and discussed what issued the truck had and what needed to be done to make it reliable once repairs were done, they let me know it was ready and would be a good first vehicle for a new driver. They do not try to sale things or service to you that is no necessary. GREAT service, GREAT people and helpful staff. They treat you like family that is for sure. They have my business from this day forward even though I live in Ft, Worth now, I’ll bring my vehicles to Denton to get the outstanding care and service they provide. Calvert is always honest - they are the only mechanics I know of who will call you to get your permission to do the work they recommend before they do it. Once, when I didnt have a lot of money, they called me and recommended a procedure that I couldnt afford but that also wasnt extremely important. I told them I wanted to wait on it and they did not charge me at all for the consult basically.

I have going to Calverts for over 25 years and have always received excellent service and fair pricing. Quality technicians who diagnose problems accurately and only fix what needs to be fixed or complete maintenance that needs to be done without adding on unnecessary work. Highly recommend!!

I love that they will honestly tell you if a part doesnt actually need replacement yet, and if your car is old, theyll readily tell you that certain problems arent worth fixing at all.

Gave me an estimate that was supposed to include everything I asked about. Come to find out its gonna be a hundred dollars more because they didnt mention the wires they would have to replace. Will never set foot there again.

I had called the shop to request the price of a radiator replacement, they quoted me, took my information and told me it would take no more than a day to do the repair. EJs Towing started the car, drove it up the ramp and dropped the car off at around 9 a.m. I called about 10 to check on the status, make sure the car arrived etc., and was told that the car would not start. I asked them to double check as the two driver was able to start it. I was told by Pat, Well it wont start now. I asked her to try and jiggle the key as sometimes it would stick. She hung up. I called back around 2 p.m., spoke to Pat again, Well the car just will not start. I told her that if there was damage done by EJs Towing then I would need to file a claim with the insurance company. She actually huffed and said Well I guess Im going to have to go out there and ask them whats going on. I responded with, Well if it wouldnt be too much trouble, I would appreciate it. >:( Pat called me 45 minutes later and said, The car wont start, the engine has a cracked head gasket and its going to cost about $5,000 to repair.After the car was towed back home, I was able to not only START the car, but found out that they had not even removed the engine cover to look at the problem. The guys charged me to not look at the car. They are lazy, incompetent thieves and I will NEVER go back.
