We stopped into this cafe over the weekend to get some Gelato after dinner. Our daughter (aged 6) noticed a bunch of photos of Col Josephine Thompson who flew medivac helicopters for the US Army. Now OUR daughter shares the same first name as Col Thompson and wanted to meet her. Col Thompson took some time to talk to Josie, answered her questions. Now at school this morning Josie is talking all about the real life hero she met, who has saved 1000s of people and has the SAME name as her! Thanks so much!

Do yourself a favor and visit this little shop. Both times we went in the owner was in there (with her family). Shes incredibly nice, patient, and conversational --- so is her daughter who also works there! We love Italian gelato, the staple of this ice cream spot, so we were thrilled to grab a few scoops to go. Delicious!! If we come back to Durango, rest assured, we will be there again!

Good food, coffee, and great service.We had a vegetarian breakfast burrito and spinach egg sandwich. The light roast drip coffee was tasty and they offered non-dairy milk options.

This place is an absolute gem! The customer service is wonderful and the treats are amazing. I wish I lived closer so I could come every day!

Magpies is surprisingly large once you get inside. Theyve got a decent selection of snacks, foods, and other things you can find in a little convenience store. The staff is kind and quick in filling orders, which are of course delicious coffees.I highly recommend the Bob Marly Mocha, its absolutely delicious and made with banana and coconut, which was delightfully reminiscent of a banana latte I had found in Japan and miss having.Theyre creative and nice to pop into, with great prices. Will definitely stop in again when I come through Durango in the future.

Great coffee and gelato. One of the easier places to find parking nearby. They have some gluten-free options and are working to add more. I love the quaint outdoor seating and the indoor area is great for doing computer work. Ask the girls about the history of the building. The little bookstore is also fun.

Absolutely one of the best experiences I have had. I highly recommend anyone in this area to stop and give them a try. They have great customer service and wait times are never to long they always work to get you out as quickly as possible, and the manager is extremely friendly.

This place is AWESOME! I’ve been looking for a place to get a quick smoothie that actually has good customer service (which is unfortunately hard to find), but this place has it as well as awesome drinks! And it’s pretty darn cute. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area!

I went there on Saturday, November 15, 2020 around 1 PM. I waited in line for about 10 minutes because the people in front of me ordered smoothies so the cashier decided to do one smoothie at a time and just let them stay in there while it was being made come out which I guess I could understand. But all that I wanted to buy was a bag of chips that would take five seconds to buy. And after waiting in line for 10 minutes, this lady comes in to buy a newspaper and a drink, and the cashier lets her go ahead of me. Like I have been in this line waiting, then this lady pulls up as soon as those people get their smoothies and gets to check out before I do.

This place is fantastic. I found this little gem traveling through CO recently. Incredible and friendly staff. Great menu and fast service. Highly recommend to anyone traveling through Durango!

Coffee was good and location was convenient. The staff was a bit dismissive and had zero customer engagement, the woman just seemed to be unhappy being there. I’ve worked in customer service so long, it’s a bit of a requirement for all places I visit, so this place just needs some friendly workers who want to be there.

Great drink + food menu and collection of magazines/memorabilia. They best part of coming to Magpies, however, is the ambience. The outdoor seating area is lovely during the summer, and the indoor seating area has a certain European charm. Will always recommend above every other coffee shop in Durango!

Came in looking for pie, got the basil lime Gelato instead, and im so glad I did. It was amazing! And made in store too! My husband got a cappuccino and a gingersnap cookie and he was very happy with both. We walked around the store and loved a lot of what we saw, just didnt have enough to buy anything.

Ive never been treated as rudely as I was today in the 15 years Ive been a customer. I guess I didnt look like I belonged in the shop, or ?? But the underlying tone was dismissive, and condescending. It shouldnt be that difficult to treat a customer with respect.
