Was told my tires being mounted were weather checked and had insufficient tread. Told me they would sell me new tires and dispose of mine.Took my vehicle to another location farther down the street and had the manager come out to check them and said there was no weather checking and the had over 70% tread left. Wont be doing any more business with American Tire for sure.

Won’t mount new tires purchased from Amazon. Could have won a loyal customer but chose not to. Tire changes twice a year can add up. I really would love to shop local, I care about this community. But I’ve got kids to feed, and you would make that $50 extra a tire in less than two years by not turning away customers. You aren’t going to beat Amazon that way, the math doesn’t work. Provide what Amazon can’t, which is excellent customer service that wins loyalty. Missed the mark here.

These guys really know there stuff, im a amatuer mechanic and I always find they catch me off guard with the wealth of information the veteran staff always have on hand. Very low turn over with there core staff. They wont play games if you dont they try there hardest too relate to your situation. There always willing too inform you about exactly what they mean. Theres many different types of services they offer and if they dont have the time or techs too get the job done theyll let you know. These guys and gals are wonderful motivators and extremally good at what they know.

I wish I could give 6 stars. Having a flat tire in the middle of winter on a Saturday morning is not a great way to start the day. The service was excellent. My tire was quickly repaired, they explained what caused the puncture, replaced the spare on my vehicle with my newly fixed tire, attached the spare to my vehicle, let me know that the sensor had been reconnected, asked if i had any questions, and requested that I contact them if I needed anything else. All of this while charging me a price that I was expecting to pay at least double for. Thank you for turning my Saturday around!

I was completely satisfied with my experience here. Needed all four tires on my 2015 Z06 warranted and they got them in less than a week. I felt comfortable leaving my car with them and got it back in perfect condition. I checked my expensive rims very carefully and not a mark. Will use them again for sure.

Very dissatified, American Tire lost me and my family as a customer. I originally went their just over a year ago, was informed that one tire of my 3 year old set was damaged beyond repair.. they would only sell in sets but the recommedation on my car would only only me to purchase four new. So I bought the set of four, and not the cheap set either, all weathers. Had a screw puncture in one of my tires last week, was informed they could not repair, using the extra tire warranty they could offer me a new tire, prorated to the 90% tread left. I informed them at the time of approval to move forward I wanted my almost new screwhole tire back, they agreed over the phone. Went to pick up my mounted new tire, guess what had three different employees there deny they knew anything about this, employeed had the deer in the headlights look on his face. The warrenty dont mean much, I do not appreciate being lied to, and my request for my 90% tread tire was intended to prevent them from repairing and reselling to another customer. NEVER again! Going back to the tire guys at Cushman & Vanhorn, they never treated me this way.

Im not sure about this place. They said that my rims werent safe and needed to get different rims. Got different rims and then needed new lug bolts and nuts so got that done. Then notice different lug nuts than what the truck had not happy with that. Then notice the next day my truck was dirty on the passenger side where they clean the windshield from a different vehicle and splash it on my truck. Bad service Im not sure about these guys any more. I think Im going somewhere else to do business with. You should get your vehicle the same way back as to when you bought it to them not fine it dirty. Thats why they have a one star.

Wont mount tires that arent bought locally. Wont be doing buisness with them anymore.Never asked you to provide warranty. Asked you to mount my tires. The real reason you guys wont mount isnt warranty related. Its competition related. Nice try tho

Ordered a set of wheels for my truck here and had them mounted and balanced. Took it home a noticed a shake in the steering wheel at 60mph. Took it back and explained it all and they said they would rebalance them free. 4 hours later the mechanic told me the wheels are balanced perfectly and that there is a problem with my truck. I told him it was nonsense as my truck never did that with the stock wheels. So I took my truck on fortwainwright and had the mechanic at the skills center rebalance all 4 wheels and now my truck drives perfect. I really think is a shady business and that they are trying to scam people with little mechanical knowledge to have parts replaced on their vehicle that need not replaced. I do not recommend!

Great price and best service. They went extra mile to find out what was wrong with my tire, replaced it with tire they had to get from across town, and were very fast.

Shop did not mark my snow tires with the location they were removed from. Seems like it should common knowledge here in Alaska tires should be marked for rotation purposes next season..

American tire and auto refused to sell me a single tire when I only needed one and thought that waiting a week for them to ship me one rather than selling me one and shipping the fourth for their set.

Extremely long wait for a simple tire switch. I called to get a specific set of tires and when I showed up they said they needed to be ordered. When I asked about rims, those too were not in stock. Money milkers with average customer service at best.

I have always had good service here and at their other store downtown. I understand the first come first served concept, but it would be nice if there were a better way to implement it. I arrived and there were only three cars ahead of me, but I waited to get out of my car and there were 8 people ahead of me. A little frustrating.

Spent $1500 for a full set of new tires. Go home then realize that they damaged my rims. Went back to the shop, spoke to the manager who took absolutely no responsibility for the damages. No effort to make it right. Horrible customer service and management. Do not go here for service.

Yet again, gave American tire a second chance on my Silverado to do a simple alignment. Costed $100 and they modified the speculations which means they did a fake alignment by changing the numbers on the hunter alignment machine. I told them this and compared the spec sheets to that of lithia Chevy and they immediately refunded my money and wanted nothing to do with it. Very shady business

American tire is great to deal with. Ive dealt with them many times to have tires purchased or fixed. Most recently I brought my wifes car in to have the tire fixed, which end up turning I to bend rim. They go above and beyond to make sure that your back on the road as quickly and safely as possible.

I made an order for a tire the 26th of April thinking it would be here in a couple of days. I called in a couple days later and I was told it could take 2 to 3 weeks for freight shipping. I was also informed after the fact that they would not install a replacement tire even though my other 3 are less than a year old. I understand if there is a liability issue but I wasnt told this when ordering the tire. I called and spoke with Clayton the next day to cancel the order and he said I could do that. He told me my original salesman Nathan would call back and if I wanted to take the weekend to think about it I could. I never received the call so I called in Monday morning to cancel and Jim told me they would keep the payment I put down. Jim then said my tire was in the warehouse and asked why I wanted to cancel and made it look like this was all my fault. All I wanted was a tire on my car. I ended up paying for the tire and taking it to a more trustworthy shop. I am not doing business here again. They will charge shipping, weight and balance fees, and a couple of small charges. Just be aware of what you are doing.

Very good experience! There is a nice waiting area with free coffee and water. Good reading material and they have a flat screen tv with cable on. The service was very professional and all the counter men and technicians were very courteous. Wait time for 4 new tires was short and the price was reasonable. This is a comment about great customer service.We were passing through Fairbanks and noticed a vibration that felt like we had lost a wheel balancing weight.American Tire & Auto provided us with a reasonable estimate for re-balancing four wheels. The technicians removed the wheels and found mud caked around the inside of all four, which was causing the vibration. They took the time to remove the mud and clean the wheels before checking the balance on each wheel. They did an excellent job and American Tire just charged us for the balance job.

Loved the service here. I wanted new tires for my Xterra, and the staff up front made sure I got the tires that fit my needs. The tires ride great and I noticed the improvement in the ice and snow immediately. I also had a light bar put in up front at the same time. It looked great and didnt bust the bank. Overall every single person was helpful and courteous. I will definitely use this place again.

The salesman worked to get me the best deal on my tires. He tried his best to find me deals and make my tire purchase more affordable. I price checked with about eight other places and my tires were cheapest here.

Submitted online requests for quotes via the American Tire Website and never got a reply. Resubmitted a request for quote 2 weeks later and still no reply. Tried emailing customer service and calling without reply. I guess they are too busy for my business.I figured that if the customer service I had received so far was going to be representative of future customer service with this company, it wasnt worth it. Called another local retailer and had new tires within the hour. Recommend to not waste your time with this place.

I brought my car here to get the rear struts changed, and now the rear end of my car doesnt blast off into outer space every time I hit a bump. I really do feel like Im driving a newer car.Also I live on a dirt road, so in spring and autumn my car gets very dirty and grimy on the outside, but it was shining sparkling clean when I went to pick it up. I was very happily surprised about that, but felt slightly guilty; I suppose a dirty grimy car is difficult to work on and thats why they washed it.Last car shop I went to I didnt really have a great experience, but the staff here were professional and courteous and Ill definitely bring my car back here if it needs anything done on it again! Thanks guys!

On 4/18/15 I went into your store to have my tires rotated. I was there right when the store opened. The customer service was horrible. When Clayton finally acknowledged me, he typed everything into the computer, took my key and just walked away. Didnt even say have a seat or anything like you normally hear. After waiting an hour just to have my tires rotated for no charge, I got in my truck and drove away and my truck was shaking like crazy. So I drove back to the store and explained what was going on. Turns out my tires were not balanced. I was never asked if I wanted my tires balanced during my first visit. I just thought that went hand in hand. So I had to pay $53.95 for my tires to be balanced. After buying 5 tires from American Tire and Auto back in August, you would think they would want customers to keep coming back. I understand there is a charge for balancing tires bought at AT&A, but after all I went through, it should have been done at no charge! I wasted my one day off getting all this taken care of, when it should have been completely handled during my first visit! AT&A just lost another dissatisfied customer!

I came in for a front end alignment, found out just my steering wheel was little off. They only charge me for that not the full cost of a alignment. Definitely earn my business!!

New to town. These guys really gave great advice and I felt confident in their workmanship. They spotted that my tires were on backwards! Highly recommend for price, efficiency and customer service!

Wish I could say something positive other than my tires work great, but the service was pretty terrible. Told us to come back in 2 1/2 hrs for the car and it ended up taking them over 6 hrs to switch tires. They repeatedly told us it was almost done and since we were counting on getting our car back when they said we would have it back (at most 2 1/2 hrs) we had to wait there for hours. This place looks clean and has great floor tiles but I dont reccomend it unless you want to stare at said tiles for hours on end....

Amazing service! Always my go to for tires in Fairbanks! I got a new truck that needed tires and with his weather I expected to drop it off and be without a vehicle for the day, but Even with this crazy weather we have been having they got me right in and had all my tires changed over and back on the road in around 30 minuets! Always friendly, always helpful, fast, and best of all locally owned!!!!!!! Thank you guys!

So far nothing but great experience. i do recommend the place!!! customer service is great, and prices are very reasonable! recently bought a set of wheels and one of the rims came with a tiny blemish which 99.9% would not notice, but Clayton (the guy who helped me set up the purchase) noticed and ordered a new rim while i could use the one with blemish!! i was very impressed. also did alignment at the same time, the steering wheel is perfectly straight, and you can let go of it on straight road and it will drive perfectly straight. they also do a lot of other services like brakes, tie rods, oil changes, etc. etc..highly recommend going through Clayton, hes been very helpful.

I have been using this shop for over 5 years. They do great work. No bs. No trying to get you to fix things that dont need to be done and do an excellent job of letting you know if they do find something else wrong with an accurate estimate of the costs.Pricing is good as well. Usually on the lower end.I dont take my vehicle anywhere else.

The salesman who helped me was very helpful, because he answered all of my technical questions and even went in depth in his answers. The location is convenient and they have lots of parking spaces for the busy times of year.

Great place! I was there for over an hour discussing what I wanted done to my truck and they answered everything! Had a blast discussing everything. Everyone was very friendly and they printed up all kinds of quotes for me to see what I could do. Definitely a great place to go!

As a woman who is not in any way, shape or form knowledgeable about cars, I often worry that I am being taken advantage of when I bring my vehicle somewhere to be serviced. This is most definitely not the case at the S. Cushman location. They take the time to explain the issues with my car, and find ways to save me money (and dont replace anything that isnt absolutely needed at the time). Krissy at the service desk is super friendly and helpful, and my most recent experience with them trying to diagnose a break problem and belt issue was top notch. The tech put my mind at ease that my car was safe to operate, and did not make me feel stupid. They didnt charge me an outrageous fee for all the hours they worked trying to figure out what was wrong (by my probably could-have-been-said-better descriptions), and I appreciate that SO MUCH.I have never given a review before, but I really feel like I should give credit where credit is due.

Great service, explained everything and kept me updated. When they were having difficulties removing a part, they tried different methods and finally succeeded. This saved me from going to a different shop that would have grinded the part of while expecting to cause some damage, if not a lot of damage to surrounding areas. Very thankful for their time and effort to do the job well and with out additional damage or cost.

We purchased two used tires from American Tire and Auto. Six days after having them installed one went flat. We returned to the shop and explained what happened. They immediately took my vehicle in the shop and checked out the tire. They had it fixed in under an hour at no additional cost. Both Clayton at the front desk and the young man who fixed it were friendly and helpful.

Yes my son took his car there to get winterized he listened to his radio on the way to drop it off. When he got it back the radio not working then they say they didnt do it. I dont understand no accountability no ownership. They could have checked the fuse they were working on electrical stuff. Just wrong.

DO NOT GO!One of the worst experiences I ever had. Clayton needs to learn proper business etiquette. They have lost my business. Believe it or not I would trust Walmart to do a better job than these guys. Extremely annoying and inappropriate. Avoid like the plague. I wouldnt be surprised if they gave you the plague when you go there. I cannot express how much I loathe this shop. BEWARE!

They do have less than perfect customer service skills (not to say they have bad customer service), are slow at getting the job done, probably b/c they take too many clients on most days with the amount of staff they have.However, they’ve always made me feel like they are getting me the best deal possible with buying new tires.I will note, when I had to buy winter tires, they told me I had at least 2 more years on the current summer tires I had on my vehicle. Then when summer came back around and I came in for the switch out they advised me that the tires were no good and that they would not put them on bc they didn’t feel like they were safe. I was shocked and overall frustrated. I told them they were the ones to tell me I had life on them just last season and why would they give me back tires if they were no good? The guy just acted like it wasn’t his problem since he wasn’t they one that told me about my summer tires last season. I truly felt like they were just trying to get a new tire sale out of me. I seriously just wanted to scream and walk out. But what do you do? I bought the new summer tires and just embraced the suck. Thankfully I was blessed to have the $700+ available to spend that day.Other than that, my experiences here for both our vehicles has been good.*Update: After posting my review, Jim contacted me personally to talk about my experience. I wasn’t available to talk at the time he called and he left a pleasant voicemail giving me all his information in hopes to resolve any issues I may still have. When I contacted him back, he explained what miscommunication may have happened but also admitted he wasn’t trying to make excuses and that he wanted to make sure they weren’t loosing a customer. He told me if I ever had any other issues to ask for him. Really showed me they did care about customer service.Like I wrote in my original review, my other experiences here have been good. I’d still recommend my family/friends go here for their tire needs. I updated this rating from an original 4 stars due to the customer service to 5 stars after speaking with Jim.

I have bought tires here and have had an alignment done.The service has always been fast and friendly. No hidden fees and they dont try to upsell you.

Dropped car off in the AM for an appointment. Car had other issues so they didnt get the work I wanted done, which is understandable. But then charge me for time to the car cause they said they did an inspection to see what does was wrong with the car. I did not ask for an inspection, and before going any deeper into it why not call first?. Plus the way they do tires is unprofessional they dont honor appointments for tires, its a 1/2 hr only based time to be there or not get your tires in at all.they open up the doors at 7:30 and you must be there then or before, and they stop taking vehicles in by 8:00. I do not recommend this place at all. Stay away.

Good luck even trying to make an appointment or see if they have your tires in stock. Called them 4 times got hung up on every time and if you tell the guy who decided to pick up the phone that no you cant wait get ready for him to mouth off. Customers service would be something to invest in. Cant even pick up the phone.

Be very careful!!First let me say I am normally not the person to write reviews, but I want to save someone possible trouble. The staff is very hospitable. They were very respectable and gave their all in their attempt to fix my car. However, I brought my car in with the under warranty for a heater core replacement. They attempted to fix the car but when they returned the smell of antifreeze was still strong and the windows continually fogged up and I noticed a few screws (belonging to parts of the cars interior) lying around. I brought it back and here is where the real problems occurred.When I went in to pick it up more screws were found. The heater thermostat control was broken. The heater only blows cool air. The cruise control was completely broken (cable missing). The auto-start was disconnected and the switch was missing. Under the hood one particular part were the accelerator cable was connect was now glued together. Because of the loose screws (meaning they did not put it back properly) my lighter was disconnected and loose and my glove compartment did not close. Due to safety concerns I decided not to bring my vehicle back for them to mess it up further. I brought it to another shop and because of the age of my vehicle many of the broken items could not be repaired or had to order through the internet.For purchasing tires they are top notch but for vehicle repair, please beware!!

Horrible customer service!! First time I came into the shop I asked for specific tires. Desk person said, they don’t make that tire in that size (I was asking for the exact same size brand and model tire that my truck has on it when I drove it there). So I drove over to GIANT TIRE and they had the tires in stock and put them on in about 1hour. I figured I would give American Tire a second shot this morning. Called to get the same exact tires my wife has on her Naviagtor and and was told the same thing. They don’t make that tire in that size. Headed over to Giant now cause they have them in stock and can get me in today. I hate lazy customer service. I’ve told all my friends and hope that this review helps someone choose a better tire dealer than these lazy mo fo’s

Purchased some blizzak from them because no one else could get my tire size. I dropped of my own steel wheels and had them mount the tires. Came back 2 days later to have them put on to find out that it is a 2 hour wait, they dont do appointments and when asked if I came back a little after 5pm when I get off duty they said they would turn me away. So now I have winter tires in the back seat of my vehicle.

Moved recently to AK and gave me great recommendations on best tires and brought them from Anchorage at great price

Buyer beware! Go elsewhere!I just purchased a set of four Blizzak tires for my truck on 10/8/14. Their showroom is right outside of Ft Wainwright. And they display a very large sign saying the honor a 10% Military discount. When I went to pay for my tires I was told they would not honor the 10% military discount. Their reason… Because my tires are a buy 3 and get the 4th free discount. This is not a true statement; but rather a crooked marketing scheme. What they have done is sell me a $160 tire for $229(4 tires x 160 = $640 vs 3 tires x 229 = $687).So, not only did I not get a free tire, I paid a premium for the tires.Ive filed a complaint with the BBB. But, they havent even bothered to respond.

Worst possible experience! I dont recommend this company!! Went to get winterized and they didnt flush out the old fluids before adding the new, says my coolant reads -60 when it only reads -30. Also because they just topped my fluids off they added air into my system and Ive been without heat when Im at a standstill. Now I have to pay more money somewhere else to get everything flushed and redone with a possible heater core flush THANKS to there incompetence!! They knew my car came from Louisiana knowing the coolant is mixed with water! I keep my car in the garage and havent had to plug it in but I truly wonder is it even winterized at all?? I bought 4 blizzak tires and after a few days my tire pressure light came on is there Nitrogen? Well see when it goes into another shop Monday. Plus they put a broken oil filter on my car when they did the oil change.

Best customer service of all the American Tire outlets in Fairbanks. However; company policy is all about price gouging. Start with almost a $50 price hike over GCR (Once TDS). invoices included miscellaneous fees with no description.

They guys here always let you know avout upcoming deals and rebates, as well as making sure you get a great tire to match your needs. Their service is solid and they do the job well
