I had two appointments on subsequent days to get my summer tires swapped out for winter tires. I showed up on the first day - Friday the 22nd - and saw that there was a sign attached on the door that the shop was closed that Friday and Saturday. On Monday, I left work early after calling multiple times and not getting through to anyone. I drove to Midas and once again, there was a sign that they were closed due to multiple employees being sick. Now, I understand them being closed for that reason and am not taking away stars for that. Im taking away stars because at no point was I notified that they would be closed for either of the appointments, and there was no voicemail or posting on the Internet informing clients of their closure. They hadnt even tried to call, text, email, anything to notify me that either of my appointments were not going to happen. Also, both times I showed up there were other people parked in front of Midas with the same issue I was having. Had they taken the incredibly minor, bare minimum in customer service to let me and other clients know that they would be closed, we could have made other arrangements accordingly. My husband and I had taken off of work on that Friday to get this done, and then we still had to go and get our tires exchanged somewhere else.
I realized that I needed urgent brake work done before I set out on a road trip to drive home to Anchorage. The team was incredible in helping me get that work done before I drove. Thank you thank you! Your professionalism and kindness meant a lot to me - thanks for helping me stay safe driving. 🙏
I dropped my car off and went to go get lunch by the time I got back they were done putting my summer tires on. They were quick helpful and it cost under 100 to get all tires off the rims and put my summer ones on. Good price good work great men. Very happy
Friendly service and convenience made me a first time customer stop by.I got my oil changed in a few hours which I found plenty fast and they were pretty busy. They did a free diagnostic helped me see things to remedy in future. As a side note has an old time auto shop feel which I really like!
Midas has installed parts on my car twice in the past year, this time they installed a cat back exhaust. I brought my car to several shops for estimates and none of them wanted to work on it. Midas got me in within a week, I dropped it off before work, received an estimate soon after and they were done a few hours later. Couldnt have been easier, highly recommended.
Employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Thorough inspections with digital reports and pictures sent via text. Fast service with easy drop-off and pick-up. Highly recommended!
Staff was nice and seemed knowledgeable. They sent a diagnostic repair and cost estimate to my phone which I appreciate. The downside was that it took about three hours for them to actually start working on my car, even though I had an appointment. By the time they actually got a chance to look at it I only had time for them to diagnose problems, not actually fix anything, as I needed to go to work.If I had known how long it was going to take I would’ve set something up with my roommates so that we wouldn’t need that car that day. It seems like that’s pretty normal so if you take you car in, plan for it to be out of commission at least a a day. As long as you don’t mind the wait, or have another car to use the service is good.Overall it was not the end of the world since I appreciate the work up they sent me, on my cars health. However, if they weren’t going to have time to work on my car until 3pm, why did they give me a 12 pm appointment? I could’ve brought my car in later and made other pans for evening transport. Seems like they overbooked themselves.
Great communication. Timely and professional service. Definitely using them in the future!
Had to get my oil changed and break pads changed great service
I am very happy with the work the mechanic did on my vehicle. He did a great job. I thought there was minor things that would be ignored but that didnt happen. He was very detailed with his work. This is the shop I will be staying with in fairbanks. I know mechanical work and I support the exceptional service I received on my ford expedition.
Very fast and friendly! I recommend these guys to anybody!
Service was preformed in a timely manner, they were nice and were able to answer any questions I had
My check engine light came on after a friend replaced the evac vapor solenoid. Midas found it was not done properly and fixed it for a low price. Ive been using Midas for years and Ive always been pleased with their service.
Brought my vehicle in for a diagnostic at the Fairbanks location when it was overheating and not shifting properly. They gave me two quotes, one that I was told would be enough to get it running, and one that was recommended, plus some work in my transmission that they wouldnt even be able to complete at this shop. Due to financial constraints, I opted for the minimum to get it driving. Vehicle made it about 10 miles from the shop before breaking down again. I took it to a different shop to have the recommended work done, plus the stuff Midas told me I couldnt have done at their shop. The second shop diagnosed much more than what Midas did, enough that my car is totaled. I went back to the store to see if there was any kind of deal they could cut me because I wouldnt have dropped the initial $1,400 had I known the extent of what needed to be done. Im not mad at the fact he didnt refund me, but the condescending manner in which he spoke to me about not refunding me. Rhetorically asking, well did you drive it away from here? He said he would work with me if I towed my vehicle back to Midas. When I asked what working with me meant, he responded youre just getting mad. I told him, no, I wanted him to explain what working with me meant and if that meant there was any way a deal could be worked out on the original bill. He then insinuated the other shop could have caused the damage and accepted no possibility that a bad diagnostic could have been an issue. The interaction was dismissive and disrespectful
Excellent service. Great report sent to my phone afterwards
Great Service and good people.
They were great and very quick! And they were booked but we kinda had an emergency and needed tires changed and they squeezed us in! Good rates as well!!
This business does everything that it can for a cash grab. My friend brought his truck in, paid more than what he should have for maintenance and the next day he has a brand new problem with an oil leak that was not there previously.Midas, Why do you suck at rear mail seals and installing transmissions and clutches.
Just what I wanted thank you
Dropped off my car at 8am and had it diagnosed and fixed by 1pm. Im happy
Love the people here! Very helpful, fully transparent, and fair price. We will never take our business elsewhere as long as we can.
Great guys great work great price fixed my ram to get it sold and when I got my new jeep they helped me with tires and electronic messes very happy would recommend
Harry and the crew at Midas are great. Ive been taking all my vehicles there for over 10 years and I trust them to do the job right. The service is great, the staff are friendly and they are the only ones I trust with any vehicle I own.
Awesome service as usual.
I work out for town a couple weeks at a time so it is imperative that my wife stays running. The men at this shop do everything and then some to get us strong every time. Y’all come see them they’re good people.
I had my car towed to Midas with unknown issues when the weather was -40. The guys got my car in super quick and found the problem and fixed it for a very reasonable $84! This is the first time I have had to have my car worked on since I moved to Alaska, this shop is fast and very honest about the work that needs to be done. I will definitely use them in the future for all my car repair/maintenance needs.
Midas is where my father likes to take his truck. They always treat him right and keep his truck up and running.
Honest group of people. Pricing is a bit high, but the team will work with you.
Theyre very humble and helpful. Helped me out when I was in a pinch.
We were told the battery in our vehicle tested bad, and were quoted $250 to replace it. That’s a five minute job, and a $120 battery. I can do that myself, but first took the battery to Batteries and Bulbs. It tested good. Tested better than new specs, in fact. Nice try, Midas...
Called in around 9:30 Am, asked about how long for a tire patch, been told couple hours. Dropped the car at 10 AM.Got the car back at 5:45 PM only to realize the next day i paid 32 bucks for a patch and 2 golfball size lumps on the inside wall of tire. Lesson learned !
Excellent service . Harry worked diligently to discover what was wrong with my daughters car. He did not give up until he found and fixed what was wrong. Other shops would not even take a look at the car because it is no longer manufactured but they not only took it but were successful in fixing it. I recommend Midas Fairbanks. We are very happy with the work they have done. Update 12/27/17: Once again, Midas Fairbanks takes great care of us! Sandra worked hard to get us what we needed and thought outside the box to make what we wanted to do possible. She took the time to think and research and put together our winterization package. All their staff do fantastic work and I highly recommend them. Within the space of a few hours, they winterized our car. We are very happy with the friendly, honest, capable work. Update 5/2018: Midas Fairbanks did its usual great job servicing our cars for the summer. Thanks!
Thieves got into the cab of my truck while Midas had it, with no sign of forced entry and stole my $400 Remington 870 Express shotgun that was not visible from outside because I had covered it completely with a blanket, the hidden shotgun ammo, along with the blanket, a small cordless Black & Decker hand drill from my toolbox that was also hidden by the blanket, and other items. They also smoked in the cab (I’m a non-smoker), leaving butts in the water bottle that was in there. Midas is not a safe place to leave your vehicle.
They made a mistake and owned up to it. Not many places have that level of integrity anymore.
Went here with short notice and was promptly and professionally helped and very fair prices. Due to not being from the area I spent a good portion of the day here and found that many of the mechanics here have been working here for years. Harry at the front is knowledgeable and treats both the employees and customers extremely well. Also the waiting area has extremely comfortable couches and good coffee.
Have gone to this Midas for 10 years always great service!
Midas has given me EXCELLENT service. I had originally went there for an oil change with a coupon and they were very speedy and polite. I returned for my routine car mileage maintenance and Dan took the time to explain the benefits of the service and completed the maintenance quicker and less expensive than my car dealer in town. I have been more than satisfied with their service and plan to be a return customer.
I absolutely love these guys! Not only do they take care of both of our vehicles thoroughly, but they dont mess around with trying to over charge us or try to make us replace unneeded components. I am so thankful that they make sure everything is well managed and let me know if anything is starting to get worn, and always make sure to schedule me when they can and when needed. Thanks everyone!!
Was only in Fairbanks for a couple days. All places were booked out weeks for any service. I called and explained my situation (seized brakes on winter roads). Midas was also booked a week out. They put a rush on my car and got me in that day and replaced my brakes.Passionate, knowledgeable people with great customer service.Thank you.
Needed an oil change after a 3k mile drive to Fairbanks. They got me in and did a great job. Thanks guys!!
I give it 4 stars because I dont really interact with them. Most of the time my husband goes in and does the whole thing
Midas did a great job on my custom exhaust from about a year ago, Harry from Midas was supper helpful with getting what I wanted done and finished it up pretty quickly. Theyve also patched up some of my flat tires over the past year as well, real quick turnaround time from when I dropped them off. Overall had a really positive experience.
We have been happy satisfied customers for the past 12 years. In that time they have cared for 5 vehicles for us. Harry and the crew are always very honest and straightforward about what work absolutely needs to be done and also what could or should be done as well. They always provide the best in customer service and make things right if there is any sort of error. They are very thorough and generous in their toping off of fluids and covering all the bases. I have complete confidence in their work and highly recommend them.
Great price and fast service
These guys have been awesome, and have never failed to fix me right up when my van has issues. Very happy with their service!!
Fantastic service and very knowledgeable. They didnt just want you to have a good day, they helped you make it that way. Harry even dropped us off since we were stranded. Great crew.
The employees are a great bunch of guys who care and go out of their way to help with your concerns and SAFETY...
Brought my car by for a check engine light, and they were extremely helpful and resolved my issue very quickly. Very pleased with their customer service and quick diagnosis of my issue, and glad there was a technician available on a Saturday. Thank you!
$900 for an alternator and belt is all ima say
Been pretty good with an 8,700 engine replacement that went sideways, was able to get in each time something was feeling like was wrong, after mutliple trips in for diagnosing they were able to get me into the Ford dealership and they determined that it was a defective remanufactured engine provided by Napa. 1st was a timing belt, second was copper shavings in the oil pan, Im on my third engine, all thankfully covered by warranty, just spent alot of time without my vehicle. Had my vehicle last time for a power steering leak they got me in again pretty quick, had one unexpected charge, overall Harry and crew have been very professional to me, and as frustrating as getting defective product from a Vendor and me having to come in ALOT still treated me with professionalism and willingness to assist.
Great service, great staff and pricing is very fair. I was a walk in with a broken suspension bolt and the staff went out of there way to get me back on the road same day! Thank you for all you do👍
Really recommend this outfit to anyone with car trouble or in need of maintenance! terrific customer service: accepted the car 1/2 an hour before they officially opened so we could get to work on time, completed the repairs ahead of schedule, and when I came to pay received a refund as the clerk noticed that we had a diagnostic fee from a previous visit that he felt should have been waived. these guys are courteous, prompt, and take the time to explain issues and options. Weve been going to Midas for years, but they really went above and beyond the last time!
Told to drop my car off at 9:30 and that I’d have an update by 12. Didn’t hear anything from them until 2:40 just with the estimate. Ubered over here after work to pick up my car and was told that the car would be unlocked and my key in the glove box as agreed upon over the phone. Got here and my key was locked in my car! Obviously couldn’t get ahold of anyone bc they were closed. Had to call my insurance company to get my car unlocked. Took over 4 hrs!! I get accidents happen but that was ridiculous, a total waste of my time & costly. Do not bring your car here!!!UPDATE: I waited hours for someone to come unlock my car and THEY DIDNT EVEN PUT MY KEY IN THE CAR!!! Incompetent doesn’t even begin to explain these people!!!!!
Extremely quick overall service fro diagnosis to repair!
I called in for a last minute appointment, before having my car shipped and I was greeted with kindness and understanding, not like I was taking up there time or feeling like I was a bother. I was out in an hour. I recommend this shop on service and quality.
Very nice courteous and professional service.I had a complaint about the price of a part and harry went above and beyond and offered to fix my problem with no labor charge because he wanted to please the customer. Kudos to harry and also Sandra at the front desk. Great job
I paid 800 bucks for my exhaust to be done only for their welds to break within 3 weeks. They want to push me off till the end of the day today so they can make their money instead of fixing what they didnt get right the first time. I live 4 hours out and they dont care. They cannot get the job done right the first time and will put you off. So now Im going to a good place to get my work done and Ill pay the extra to have it done right.
Did a great job of fixing my car
They not only went above and beyond to fit me in last minute, but they did a great job and called me anytime an issue came up while they were working on my car. They did brakes and fluids and an oil change, and it was the same price I would pay or Just brakes at most other shops.
Excellent service, great waiting area with coffee, internet, and tv. Id recommend them for their great work and dedication. Harry helped me with my car and made sure my problem got fixed that same day. They have Friendly staff that go above and beyond to serve you.
Very efficient, friendly, and they go the extra because they value customer service, and satisfaction.
I absolutely recommend Midas! Theyre honest, got reasonable prices and have great customer service. I wouldnt go anywhere else!
Fast friendly service. Went in for an oil change and a diagnostic check. J-Son was a big help and explained everything to me and didnt make me feel pressured into purchasing more than I needed.
Great service. J-Son was able to find and repair damage to my vehicle that another local shop had done. Highly recommended!
I brought my vehicle to Midas after a horrible experience with another mechanic. They offered to inspect the job the other mechanics did and kept me informed of all the possible solutions to my problem. Not only was the staff knowledgeable and friendly, but the work was done quickly and efficiently. I would reccoment this shop to anyone and will be bringing my vehicle there from now on.
Trustworthy. Gave them my Subaru for a new axel after a check said it had a torn boot, and they said the cv boots were fine, test drove it to be sure, and didn’t charge me anything. They could’ve replaced it anyway, but they didn’t. Really can’t beat trust, so they got my business from now on.
Straight up GARBAGE place, went in on a Wednesday mid-day to schedule an appointment to have an exhaust put on. He told me they had an opening the following Friday, told me to bring it by when they open at 8am and they would get it started soon after. I dropped my truck off at 8:12am, called them at 4:20 pm that afternoon and they hadn’t touched my truck all day and informed me that they wouldn’t be able to get to it that day..their reasoning was it was tire season and they were busy with tires.. if that’s the case they should have knocked my exhaust out first thing at 8am when they scheduled me to drop it off and then they would have all day to do their tire work. Then to top it off, after I make it a point of how much they wasted my time some guy named Harry asked what type of exhaust and after I told him he said he could do it that same day... with 1.5 hours left of their business day... THIS PLACE IS TRASH AND WILL WASTE YOUR TIME !!!
Went in to get a new hose put in for coolant, bought a hose and coolant before hand for so they were able to refill. Not only did they not refill my radiator(causing my car to over heat) they also OVER CHARGED me for shop supplies when I had pre bought both the correct coolant and hose. VERY unhappy about it. Ive heard many stories of this Midas screwing people out of their money.
Went in to address a radiator leak and oil change. Very nice, speedy, professional. Answered every question. Even when I had an issue after the service, they had me come back in and address it immediately. Would definitely recommend these folks again. And I went there on a recommendation from someone. You can even call or go online to set up your appointment. Ill be back again.
Tried your link it dont work so I came back to here. This was a drop off on Monday. The parts were not there. Was not told so had to leave it over night. No status calls made to us for pick up time. Finally we called them just befor closing and they said it was readyBut with only 5 minutes to get there.Left it over night again. The communication for this service was poorest we have seen.
I initially had good service, but after that the guy said he was glad to not work on my other car; a definitive lack of professionalism will certainly bring me somewhere else next time.
They do not answer there phone during buisness hours been trying for days to get a quote ended up taking our business elsewhere
Overall I had a good experience. Dan did a great job finding out what the repairs were and what was needed to fix the issue. Harry took care of me from an previous visit that when wrong. Thanks,Roy
These guys did a really good job taking care of my corolla for 5 years while living in Fairbanks. They looked out for potential problems and gave me recommendations. They didnt try to sell me on expensive and unnecessary repairs. And I never had to wait too long on routine oil changes.
I took my vehicle to this Midas to have the check engine light and some other dashboard lights diagnosed. On both the online reservation form and in-person when I dropped the vehicle off, I told them that the fuel cap felt a bit loose lately and that I read online that might be the cause of the problem. They said theyd check it out. When I dropped the vehicle off, they just took the key and didnt provide any written or verbal cost estimate. The next business day they called me to say that they had performed a full Level 3 diagnostic with a smoke test, which cost $205! They had confirmed that a faulty fuel cap was causing the indicator light and asked if I wanted to have it replaced for $50 (the same part is available for $17 at a local auto parts store, and it takes no special installation). I did not know ahead of time that they were going to perform a smoke test, nor did I know just how expensive that diagnostic service was going to cost. The sign behind the front desk at this Midas says that they wont provide unnecessary services and that theyll provide a written estimate of all work to be performed. Unfortunately, the service at this Midas did not live up to either of those values and therefore I cannot trust the Midas touch.
Excellent service back on the road fast
Very helpful folks. Got my car inspected here. The mechanic completed it in a short amount of time.
Only giving 1 star because I cant just give it a ZERO!!! Refuses to finish the job, refused to fix errors, overcharged, held vehicle due to not wanting 300$ tips on that were not wanted or approved, said they could not take them off for about a week out, and wouldnt take them off until it was paid for or didnt get the car back!!! Never going to this rip off store again! These occurrences happened several times over the last 30 years. Doubt its changed any!The exhaust pieces were banging on the tank and they refused to fix it! DO NOT TAKE YOUR MUSCLE CARS TO MIDAS! THEY LEAN ON THEM, GET THEM DIRTY, AND DO EXCREMENT TYPE WORK! Just SAD the way they treat cars!!!!!
So far good work. Good service.
Nice and quick service.Staffs are friendly and ready to help the customers.
I had my work vehicles repaired at this store. They did good work. I would not expect anything discounted though. Two years ago my car began running rough while loaded with family and groceries (I live in Healy). It turned out to be spark plug wires. This simple fix cost me nearly $500. I have changed wires before and feel cheated at that price. They claimed the wires were very expensive, but I checked later and found they cost $60. They charged me too much for it, because they new I was stuck.
I called to schedule an appointment for a specific time, was told I was scheduled, showed up at the right time, and then was treated like a walk-in. After hanging out for an hour after my scheduled appointment time, I asked the person at the front desk for an update. He then informed me it would probably be another 4 hours before they even got to my car. Thats not at all how appointments are supposed to work. I took my car elsewhere and will not be coming back.
They work very well with military families
Midas was very helpful in informing me about my dirty air filter and cabin filter, which I was able to replace myself.
My experience with the Fairbanks Midas was incredible. Fast and friendly service is how they roll. My auto repair was extremely Convinant has they are open on saturdays..if you need any auto service or repairs dont waste your time, call the Pros @ Midas..
Absolutely horrible from the moment I walked in the door to the moment I pick up my vehicle with nothing fixed. I didnt think it was right when they called up and told me how much it was and I asked if they found the parts in town and then they said it was a call to get approval to do extra work. NEVER NEVER EVER going back, but Im sure going to let people know how well they did. ( Of course when I tell people they all say the same thing..DUH, Everybody knows that place sucks.)
Had my 2011 f150 IWE replaced along with oil change. Had my truck back in less than 8 hours on a weekend
Fast service. Nice waiting area with internet, coffee, and TV.
They have always treated me fairly. And have the ability to keep myfairly old car on the road, even at -40 degrees.
Did not replace worn shocks. Very noticeably bad. Got them done somewhere else. Engine started burning oil after muffler fix. Its back on the road after $7000 repair.
Better care here than I get in Texas!!! I used to wrench on drag cars back in the 60s - 70s and even made a living as a mechanic for a couple of years. Every thing they pointed out that was wrong, I agreed with completely. I told them about me running over a frost heave in the YT that caused my convection/microwave to be knocked 3/4 of the way out of the cabinet and the start of my woes. How can I sing the praise? I went to another shop in town first with my brakes that were pulling to the left. They tried to sell me a new front end at a cost of over $4,000 and never addressed the brakes. See my review of them.I had to set an appointment for a couple of days later as this is a busy place and I can see why. They put my Roadtrek on a lift and did a complete brake inspection. Found a leaking rear axle seal that had soaked the brakes. They replaced the seal and at my request replaced the brake shoes rather than cleaning them. The caliper on the right front had a stuck bleed valve and they were reluctant to try to loosen it at the end of the day (Saturday) in case it broke. They brought me to the shop and showed me it was stuck. They thought it might have air in the line causing it to pull to the left. After thinking about it Sunday, I brought it back in Monday morning and told them to just replace the caliper because I didnt want problems from it down the road and new brake pads. Brake problems solved!During their brake inspection, they noted that the exhaust system had a rattle and was probably the catalytic converters guts loose. Darn frost heave in the YT. Should have taken care of this while I was there but I was anxious to get out of town. I was trying to leave town and go to Denali NP. There is a two mile grade that I used to just go up without a problem but now lost speed, back to Midas I went. They did a pressure test on the cats and said there was not a restriction in them. Took the oxygen sensors out of the exhaust and there was a noticeable improvement in power proving there was a blockage in the exhaust. They replaced the muffler (where all the guts from the cats went) and all is well.Wish they were near where I lived but am glad they were there when I needed the help. Very accommodating and helpful. They took care of me as if I were a local and would be a repeat customer. I will be a repeat customer if I ever need work done in Fairbanks. The only way I can say thanks for all the good work is leave a positive review and I usually dont write reviews.Yes, everything is more expensive in Alaska. Think about the logistics of getting stuff moved around in this vast and remote state. My guess is its about a 1/3 more expensive than the lower 48.
I took my car in for an oil change, and I got an oil change. 10/10.
I do apologize to Midas the stud tires are not yoursSORRY My Bad
Friendly service and fair prices
Cheap but not always reliable. Good for some works.
Great service, but the bathroom was in desperate need of cleaning . Furthermore, there was a huge but bad smelling dog behind the counter.
Fast service here
Experience was great!
Got winter tires with studs put on this winter. Some studs came out the same day they were put on. I just called to ask how much they charge to remove the studs and the girl on the phone was rude and come to find out, they do not remove the studs they put on. Disapointed in their services and will never go back.
