I had an appointment for tires, and to investigate a TPMS issue that my Jeep was having. I talked to Clayton who was informative, smart, friendly and professional. I rarely have trust in getting work done on my vehicle, but these guys are absolute professionals, and I had no concerns after talking to them. I did shop around, and their price was competitive. There was a long wait for an appointment (during winterization season), but once I showed up for the appointment, they completed the work very quickly. I have a warranty, but for anything not covered by the warranty these are my new go-to mechanics.

I went to get my car winterized (oil pan heater and trickle charger) and it took roughly an hour. While being serviced, I was called with updates on important information along the way. Customer service was for polite and informative all the while being quick and attentive. I left the shop and forgot about some questions I was supposed to ask. I went back and one of the mechanics promptly came out to look at my engine with me and to answer any questions needed!10/10 quick, friendly service with great pricing to boot! These guys know what theyre doing.Would recommend to anyone who doesnt know much about cars as they were very patient with me and my many questions.

Troy and the team did an outstanding job on both of our vehicles. I was kept informed throughout the process and the work was completed on time. Our tires were wrapped in plastic and loaded up for his in the back. Everything was done efficiently and Troy followed up to ask about my experience. In a day and age where things can seem impersonal, this business is doing it the right way. They also do great things for our community.

I walked onto University Chevron at quitting time with a tire problem. Kudos to JR and Anthony for diagnosing my problem as sharp rock and repairing it. I had just washed the Dalton Highway dirt off my vehicle down the street when the leak appeared. This wonderful business saved the day and put me back on the road exploring Alaska on my vacation from Texas.

The service that I recived was profesional and issues were explained in ways that I could understand. Their ride service was very helpful and ment that I could leave my car their over night with out an issue. They have worked with me to arange parts replacement and repair that fits my schedule and theirs. I worked with Robert when interacting with University Chevron.

Save your money. Take your vehicle somewhere else. I took my Jeep here to get new brakes (complete) and a new rear control arm. They did they brakes fine. But my car started to shake a week later so I took it back and they said they forgot to torque down the new control arm. But still charged me the 60 bucks to “diagnose” the problem. Even though I explained that there wouldn’t have been a problem in the first place had they don’t the job right the first time. They also made the alignment wayyyy worse and wanted to charge me again for a new alignment. I passed on that and took it somewhere else. Also just got a oil change and they didn’t actually replace my reverse light even though they charged me for replacing it. I tried to talk to a manger to come to a common ground and they wouldn’t budge at all. Nothing but a bad experience all around.

I want to start by saying that my car was not repaired.Trent is an amazing customer service expert. I was seeking help on an aging Mazda sedan with a bum cv axle. I am a fairly confident shade tree mechanic, but when the axle wouldnt come out after all the help that was available online, I started making calls.Trent was the first person to quote me a reasonable diagnostic fee since I had already begun the repair procedure, most mechanics ended the conversation there, Trent was able to get me the help I needed and the flexibility of his team at University Chevron was a huge relief.The call came a day later than expected but the explanation I got from Trents team made it more than clear what was going on. These folks tried everything, even some fairly creative ideas that I hadnt considered. This axle was stubborn, and indicated a more serious internal transmission failure.Rather than continue the repair, which would have exceeded the value of a Mazda with close to 200k miles on it, Trent had me come in so we could go over everything in detail.I have the utmost faith that the team at University Chevron exhausted every possible solution before making the call, and it ultimately saved me hundreds on trying other garages just to get the same conclusion.Not every 5 star story is a successful oil change, sometimes true expertise is needed, that can only come with years in the business, to inform the customer that this is, unfortunately the end of the line. Hard words to hear in the first week of October, with the Alaskan frost looming on the horizon, but Trent offered me some options and a way forward to get through the winter, and was able to adjust the final out-of-pocket expense (to reflect the still-broken car) that made it easier to get back out shopping.Thanks Trent, your name and team came highly regarded around town, and now I see why. I will definitely be bringing any other issues that exceed my ability.

Took it in for an oil change and it get it winterized. I was immediately emailed and given a quote and instructions on what was needed to winterize my vehicle. If I could have Shakespeare write a sonnet for Mikes University Chevron I would- I cant say enough for these guys and the company. Theyre professional, diligent, honest, hard working, and theyre very good at fixing stuff. Theyre kind, friendly, earnest, all around lovely guys. I think the business really cares about their employees, which I admire, and theyve always done their best to fit me in whenever I have an emergency breakdown, which seems to me to be all the time. I could write in detail about all the times theyve gone above and beyond the call of duty, but then wed be looking at a number of pages that would rival War and Peace.Recently though, they really were total knights in shining armor, and managed to turn an utterly horrendous bit of automotive bad luck into a happy ending, and I will FOREVER, be utterly grateful to them for that. To all women of fairbanks, i would avoid university chevron for your auto care needs, the big strong manly mechanics there know more than you about your vehicle and its needs. They will proceed to ignore your requests, instead doing what they want and avoiding work they dont. Like replacing a serpentine belt. Then they will proceed to lie to you about having done the work. Im sorry i cant give negative stars for these reviews.

I cant recommend these guys enough. I have never had a problem with the work they do.A few days ago, I left my vehicle there for some minor work, when the unthinkable happened: a delivery driver backed into my vehicle and damaged a tail light and its corresponding panel.The people at University Chevron went way above and beyond in assisting me, by taking pictures, recording information, and then calling me with all of the information they had gathered. Although the damage was minor, they treated it like an emergency.Im still working with the delivery companys insurance provider and will get the damage repaired soon. I cant thank University Chevron enough for what they do.

Was impressed with first service from them. Worked speedily and price wasnt bad. When they inspected vehicle, they determined brakes were mostly used up and I should replace pads and rotors. 4 months later I got a second opinion. Turns out pads and rotors are in great shape and no where near ready for replacement. I dont appreciate being lied to.

I took my vehicle in there a few weeks ago. They were super quick and affordable! They didn’t try to up-charge me for any unnecessary repairs (like EVERY OTHER SHOP IN TOWN) I picked up my vehicle the same day I dropped it off and they even had a shuttle option for transportation! University Chevron has a sign above their cash register that says “integrity” and they definitely run their business with it! I wouldn’t take my car any where else!

We were staying at the campground about a mile away when we discovered we were missing a bolt (and related parts) that held the leaf spring in place on our 5th wheel trailers. Since it was close, we decided to go to University Chevron. These guys took such great care of us!! They called all over trying to find parts. After a few referrals, we were able to find bolts and had 2 washers custom made. Once we had the necessary parts, their mechanic got it all put together for us promptly. Others in our situation may have been stranded several days. University Chevron made the extra effort needed to get our trailer fixed and us on our way the same day. They were courteous, professional, honest, and fair every step of the way!

Great shop, I came in and told them I knew what I needed done to my FJ Cruiser, they inspected my FJ and confirmed what my suspicions were, they fixed another issue I hadn’t noticed too. They didn’t charge me a “safety inspection”, “diagnostics fee” or anything other than the work that needed to be done unlike a lot of other shops.I’ll be taking my vehicles here from now on!

Was visiting from out of town and these guys are so nice and helpful! I was a little worried when my low tire pressure light came on in my rental car and they came right out in the single digit cold to check everything. I appreciated the quick and friendly service!

I started taking my Pontiac Vibe here not too long ago after it broke down (bad alternator), and they have been amazing! My last mechanic was pulling my chain and not resolving issues which have caused my vehicle to go downhill fast. As always, these guys are on the ball. I’ve never once wondered what was going on with my truck when they have it. They go out of their way to keep me informed and as part of that, they never make guesses when you ask a question. If they don’t know off hand, they’ll do the research or take a look before they give you an estimate. Customer Service here is what it should be and was in past decades and the quality of work is exceptional. If you want your vehicle done right with no surprises at the end, this is your new auto repair shop. I also highly recommend their whole vehicle diagnostics service. It’s very VERY comprehensive leaving you knowing exactly what’s going on with your auto and if it’ll need some attention down the road. That’s always good to know.

Really fast service, apparently so fast they forget to fully torque the lug nuts. Brought my vehicle in for a tire repair couple weeks ago, the nail was thru the sidewall so they put my full size spare on. Well today my girlfriend gets back to house an tells me the vehicle is knocking. The tire was about to fall off, and all the studs are damaged. Never again will I take one of my vehicles to a place that endangers my loved ones.

These guys are amazing. The heater went out in my car yesterday afternoon. They found the part and started the repair the same day. They got me back on the road in just a few hours! I will never trust another shop for repairs or quality work and service!

Great. They treated me like a person, not like a stupid female that didnt know anything about cars. They were upfront about everything so there were no surprises. The email updates were nice; it allowed me to plan my day accordingly based on the progress. I did have one problem from when I bought my car (not their fault, the just happened to figure it out) and they gave several suggestions on how to fix it (including the cheapest and least damaging) even though it wasnt with their shop.

I had been losing air in my front tires for quite some time and a buddy recommend Mikes chevron for their fast tire service. They got me right in, and right out within a half hour. They ended up replacing both valve stims and my tires have held air ever since. Wonderful customer service, very fast and professional! Hard to find good service like this in Fairbanks! These guys are great. After calling every place in town looking for a set of snow tires these guys came through. They told me to be at their location at a certain time and even though I was thirty minutes late they still installed the set of snow tires and even put my other set of all season tires in bags so that they wouldnt get my car dirty. Overall great customer service. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for guys who do honest work.

University Chevron has a commendable team of mechanics working there. Special thanks to Billy, service advisor, and the team, for solving the pulling to the right problem. This problem goes back to May 2008, when my dealership was trying to fix the problem. They never did. So I pretty much decided to live with the problem all those years, until now!

The vehicle had an electrical fault and was completely dead. Im so pleased I took it to University Chevron for repair: it was as good as new in a day - much faster than I had any right to expect - and the price was very reasonable. The mechanics kept me updated in every part of the process. University Chevron will be my first choice for service or repair next time the car needs some work!

Stopped in today to see if I could get a tire repaired while I waited. They were able to get the car in right away, so we left the car, went for a short walk, stopped and had a pita and returned in half an hour to find the car done and waiting. Excellent, courteous service.

I adore these guys. Not only do they take care of my vehicle, they treat me as if I am their auntie. They adhere to a standard of old-fashioned service and courtesy . Twice now I’ve come by with problems that seemed a logistical nightmare to me. Twice they identified small issues that were quickly resolved. I’m very pleased with them. It’s nice to be part of their neighborhood.Most recently the “snow hat” that accumulates on the roof of my car abruptly slid forward onto my windshield while the wipers were active. This little drama left the driver’s side wiper still attached but inoperative. This happened during a heavy snowfall and made driving very hazardous. I called my car’s dealership thinking that they would most likely have any necessary spare part. After two long holds and three people, I spoke to a distracted man who told me that they would have to order any parts, but if I got over there they might be able to take a look. He said their mechanics go home at 4:30 and were very busy. I mentioned that it didn’t seem safe to drive under the circumstances, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to if they had no parts and could not commit to having a look. So- I decided to take it to University Chevron, where I had no expectation of parts of hand, but where they have treated me well in the past. Jackpot! A charming young man was immediately called out of the back and sent outside with me. He excavated the wiper arm out of the packed snow and popped some mechanical part out. He told me not to worry and took his prize back inside. I’m not clear on what he did, but he re-emerged, fiddled with it, and voila! The wiper was solid and functional again! I’m so impressed! I thought it was going to be a huge expensive problem, but no!In the past I’ve had occasion to sit quietly in their customer waiting area. While there, I can clearly observe how they speak to and about other customers. It’s very reassuring. It’s clear that this business has a positive employee culture and is trying to actively cultivate customer loyalty and good will. They sure have earned our respect and loyalty.

I was heading into town and my vehicle started acting like it was getting no fuel and then died, and of course right in the middle of construction. Got her started and was able to get to my favorite Chevron, thank God theyre not far from where I was. Its Friday before the holiday and they are booked and closed until Tuesday. If you need your vehicle serviced, you are advised to avoid the buffoons at Mikes University Chevron. Here is why.I have been in town for several decades and rarely used Mikes University Chevron because there were ALWAYS issues. The time before last they missed crimping a wheel weight which I found on the ground next to the tire later minutes after leaving the station for a seasonal tire changeover.This time I also did a tire changeover to studded tires. I left the vehicle with Mikes University Chevron the night before and picked it up the following evening, only to find the INSIDE of the vehicle solidly frosted up - a real stupid cheechako mistake. Twenty minutes of defrosting later I drove away and ran it for ninety minutes to defrost it. Next after being parked outside overnight it wouldnt start and when I went to jump the battery the hood was frozen in place. After cycling the shifter a couple of time the transmission interlock disengaged and it started.All of these problems are a result of Mikes University Chevron not taking the time to get the humid air out of the vehicle before they parked it - how hard is it to open all the doors for a minute or two once you are outside so it doesnt frost up? We live in an arctic climate and I expect professional service that doesnt do stupid things like going from a wet 50F service bay to -10F parking lot without leaving the car doors open for a minute or two.If Mikes University Chevron cant get the easy stuff done right, image how they can mess up anything that requires actual thought. Consider yourself warned - I certainly wont ever use the buffoons at Mikes University Chevron again!

I took my vehicle in twice recently. Had issues and received conflicting information on both occasions, once with differential fluid the second time with radiator fluid. Also failed to rotate tires. Will be taking my business elsewhere from now on.

They lied to me on at least one occasion. Took my car to them for a safety inspection and they said I needed to replace the rear brake pads and rotors. Decided to do it myself and all the pads still had a fair bit of life on them (maybe 60% wear with 40% remaining). On top of that, they claimed I need new ball joints. I saw no evidence of bad ball joints and after getting another inspection at a different mechanic, they confirmed the ball joints are fine (though the second mechanic also indicates that the sway bar bushings are badly worn and that was not found by university chevron). This is not really damning, and their work and service is good to the best of my knowledge. But never, ever trust your mechanic. The money spent on a second opinion was well worth it. Spend the money to get a second opinion on expensive repairs if you arent sure you need them. I give two stars because they do have redeeming qualities, but I will not go to a mechanic that I suspect is cheating me.

I would recommend University Chevron to anyone who needs any repairs or maintenance performed on their vehicle.

Had a great experience at University Chevron! We didnt think the heaters were working on our engine block, so I had it brought in to replace them. They took the time and effort to check and see that they were working properly, when they could have just replaced them even though they werent broken. Honest work, friendly people
