The george mason onsie was really funny, would go again
Pleasant staff eager to assist. Students also work here part-time- great idea.
They didnt have what I needed but there is always someone knowledgeable.
Needs to be bigger with more selections of designs and colors.
This bookstore is very expensive
Great variety of merchandise and great service
Bought a book online for one of my classes and it came in damaged. Called the bookstore and they said if I wanted to return it I would have to pay for shipping and would not be reimbursed. This is the second time my book came in damaged, the first time It happened I let it go. I would prefer to support the school by purchasing the books directly from the bookstore even though it is more expensive than Chegg or Amazon, but unfortunately the GMU bookstore doesnt have a fair return policy so in the future Im going to buy my books somewhere else.
Terrible experiences with chatty, distracted, condescending employees. Condescending and rude! Shocking being that most the employees are perfectly fine and capable of understanding the dynamics of customer service. No communication skills whatsoever. Noticed so far only with the *slightly* older employees than the younger looking employees. This review comes from the absolute last straw. Of course, to pick up online ordered books you would have to be a fully abled person- there are only stairs that lead down to the lower level. Secondary exit/entry?? Upon asking I was told that there is no other way several times repeatedly until I left after insisting that I had been told there may be. Needless to say I walked away in the middle of that.
Im a grad student and preordered my books from the bookstore because they were much more expensive elsewhere. I prepaid almost 50$ and never heard back from them. When I went back 2 weeks later to check on my order, I was sent away and told sometimes they can take 3 weeks. Still havent heard back a month later. When I went in today they told me my order wouldnt be coming, so I asked for a refund. The staff was really rude, and the person managing not only rushed customers along but was rude to his cashiers as well. Im really mad because at the very least I shouldve got some kind of notification or an automatic refund when they learned my textbooks werent coming! Now Im a bit through the semester without one that will be 80$ on Amazon. At least I got the refund. Never using the school bookstore again.
Awesome
Upon entering, I was more than a little bit confused by the layout. There are about 3 bookshelves in the back corner and the rest of the room is stocked with GMU merch. The room did not draw my attention to the stairs and it took asking an employee where the textbooks were, to realize that there was a downstairs at all. After arriving downstairs, my whole experience changed. I approached an employee to ask where a certain book was and he explained that its in order by class. I listed off my classes to him and immediately he brought me exactly where I needed to be. He also was very knowledgeable about exactly what was needed for each class. I sadly forgot to check his name or I would have given a recommendation for him in particular. As a side note, they will not accept payments over the phone; be prepared to pay with a card or cash on hand or order online if that is not an option. If there were signs (or more noticeable ones) pointing to the downstairs, I would have given 5 stars. From that point on, it was a great experience! The prior confusion and stress did impact my experience over all.
Friendly and helpful staff. Nicely laid out with plenty of school spirit gear and clothing. The textbook I wanted was backordered. Expected in one to two weeks. My online class starts next week. Price:$120. Amazon has the book in brand new paperback for $70 and I can have it in 2 days.
Too expensive
This is a great find. Our choice to send our kid here is one of the best. Located on Fairfax it is close to everything. The bookstore is run by barnes and noble who also now run the computer store and well. Stop in and check this place out. You will be glad you did.
Only thing nice about getting textbooks here is the convenience of picking them up. Only 1 week available to return textbooks and there is a poor policy of upgrading you to new books if a used one is out of stock but still charging you full price. And if you buy a book afyer the first week of classes then there is 0% of you being able to return it
Here is an update:After reading my post, Jack reached out to me to understand the situation a little bit better. After explaining the horrible experience I had prior to speaking with him, he did everything he could to make things right. He offered to price match the book with Amazons current price as I had suggested. He was extremely patient and helpful through the entire process. Had it been him I was dealing with the first time, I probably would have given a higher rating to begin with.___________________________________________________________________Absolute worst place ever to buy books, if I could give 0 stars I would. Thought I was actually getting a good deal on buying a book, since it was cheaper than Amazon. Instead, they charged me 3 dollars less to rent the book which is what the actual charge of the book is to buy it for them. Absolute horrendous customer service skills. Even when I pointed out that they prove match they refused to give me the matched price to buy the book and instead wanted to charge me a total of $68 to buy the book, when the original pricewas in the $50ish range. Absolutely horrible, will never buy from them again.
The worst prices compared to anywhere else and some of the longest wait times as well. Just order whatever you need from amazon. They make money by trying to get freshmen to buy materials teachers dont actually want you to get. Employees are quite rude.
Some decent GMU branded stuff but obviously dont buy books here if you can help it.
GMU is my alma matter. I was in the very first class to graduate from GMU. My, how it has grown.
Its got what you need. Any school supply you can think of. There is plenty of merchandise in the form of clothing, picture frames, lanyards, or foam fingers. Its all a bit overpriced as most university bookstores are. People are pretty friendly and staff helpyou find what you need very quickly.
Since I visited during a non-peak hour, my experience might be a bit different. But, what I encountered was a friendly staff that was ready to help. I was promptly and politely directed to where I needed to go and then helped to the best of the staff members ability. When it came down to my final purchase, I didnt have a line of people, and so it was quick and easy, with the exception that Im still getting used to being able to Samsung Pay at the register now.
This is the place to buy all of your official George mason merchandise. There is a pretty good selection of items and they do change wii the season. I wouldn’t suggest selling text books here though as the prices offered are quite lowz
Theyll charge you $6 for a $5 Bill. Everything is overpriced but what do you expect? Its fine just get your textbooks and scantrons and make sure to price match. Pretty convenient location for campus but short hours, watch out for those.
The staff has been friendly and helpful every time I have stopped by.
The employee there are friendly except the manager. He seems hate any coupon/discount as when I presented my coupon/discount, he always say this is not applicable, and it appears that he makes his own definition about which item can be included/excluded. I wonder if he is the owner of this pricey bookstore because he acts as if he is THE owner. Sadly.
Well stocked GMU short and long sleeved t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants. There were also mugs and bags. Customer service was helpful and friendly while busily stocking the store.
Son adapting well. Move in was a gem. GMU take a bow
You can find anything you need for school and stuff is very helpful
College bookstore for textbooks, school supplies, and lots of logo wear and logo items. Textbook prices will be matched if you bring evidence. Rental option is surprisingly cheap. Staff members are helpful and friendly.
Excellent place to get your George Mason gear. They have just about anything you could wish for.
Not the best store but is efficient in getting books ready for pickup and the registers are fast enough for the amount of customer commming in . Figuring out where the textbooks are at first can be confusing but there is a sign literally as you walk in straight. The books and clothes are usually on the high side so would recommend chegg or Amazon unless there is a sale going on or ( you dont care bc ur spoiled and ur parents are paying). The layout is very nice downstairs and the staff are helpful to find things if you need them although its pretty clearly labled for the classes so that u can find ur books. As always do a quick search of ur book on Google; add pdf to the end and try to find a free version. Or try internet archive.
I was able to find what I was looking for in a reasonable timeframe.
Has everything i need for school at an extremely pricey rate. Its convenient because its on campus. Also the cashiers are always super friendly and helpful.
More expensive than other places to buy your books, always busy at the beginning and end of the semester too. Id recommend Chegg or Amazon instead, but in a pinch you can get what you need here, youll just be paying a lot more for it. Some of the staff have been unfriendly in the past too. They get annoyed if you dont do things a certain way.
GMU’s bookstore is pretty relaxing. I personally love bookstores and the merchandise selection is pretty good.
Good place to get books, buying or renting for the semester. Best thing about this place is that they do price matching with Amazon. But if your Amazon deal is fulfilled by Amazon warehouse then B&N will be more expensive
There are no fitting rooms to try on any apparel. I was advised by the staff to buy take home and return if needed. Which is silly, when your visiting form out of state. There is plenty of room for a fitting area.
Waited in line for 30 minutes to be told my order wasn’t ready and that if I canceled I could go pick my books off the shelf so I canceled to get my books today couldn’t find them on my own so I asked for helped by somebody working there and was talked down to saying that it’s not hard to find them told him I found all the social work books but couldn’t find my class got no response. I will never use this book store and will use third parties like Chegg and amazon.
Went there today to get books and none of the books were available. Classes begin this Thursday and all of my books were on back order!😳😮😟
Great selection. Friendly staff.
The gmu bookstore has a great selection of items whether it’s clothes, school supplies, or textbooks. however it is pretty overpriced, which anyone could expect from a university bookstore, but it’s not outrageous either
Very busy at the beginning of the semester. Maybe an Express line for 6 or less items would speed up tg ed shopping experience.
Staff are always friendly and helpful, but prices could be better especially compared to places like Amazon, or even Staples and office depot
The service is great and they are very good at finding you what you need as far as books for classes.
Better than expected cudtomer support. Everytime i became lost someone was always able to orient me. I think im going to enjoy the next few years
I just buy scantrons from here. People are nice but its cheaper to buy actual textbooks elsewhere.
Books are pricey. Most employees are nice with an exception of the Managers there. They, on the other hand, are very rude.
Everything is all organized, set nicely and kind staff. Just a bit costly.
Pretty expensive and always crowded. But its on campus (inside jc). Has plenty of other things too, not just books!
Prices for clothes and very nice cashier
Avoid buying things here because everything is overpriced. Never buy loose leaf textbooks from the bookstore, they will not buy them back. I was forced to buy a new textbook from here because that was the only option; spent over $100 to be told they won’t take it back.
Per usual, my Alma mater has a wonderful bookstore!
Dont go here unless you absolutely have to they find anyway to squeeze every penny out of you. Theyre severely over priced and the managers are unhelpful only go here for scantrons and blue books
Well kept but over-priced college book store
Went in yesterday to ask about being overcharged for 2 tee shirts that were on sale for 25% off. I explained to they guy what happened. He says its your fault you should have noticed when they rang you up :O I think it was uncalled for, rude actually. Since when does blaming anyone solve the problem?!
Best College bookstore I have ever been to.
They are very overpriced, you can buy your text books on internet for much cheaper.
Use amazon. They have the worst lines, so if youre trying to buy textbooks the first week of classes, or return textbooks, it is impossible to wait less than half an hour. They do not accommodate anyone, refuse to open more return kiosks, and the people are generally unhelpful. Also, they under order textbooks, so not everyone gets a textbook in some cases. BEWARE. Only go here as a LAST RESORT.
Nices GMU stuff but wow is it expensive!
Theyve changed the place up a lot since Ive been there. Guy where the textbooks are is a little weird doesnt talk in your direction
Very pricy place but convenient
A bit expensive, but eye-pleasing items!
Super expensive and inconvenient.
Get your GMU swag today.
Overpriced, doesnt accept official B&Noble account gift card balances.
Friendly staff. Things very over-priced, but it IS a college bookstore :-)
Everyone is always super nice!
Everything a Mason fan could want, and then some!
Excellent place for Patriots!
Nice store, quality stuff, everything is overpriced though.
Love everything about GMU
Stuff here is overpriced but at least you can price match.
DONT GET YOUR TEXTBOOKS HEREWORST EXPERIENCE.
Hella long lines
Everyone was a great help
Love bookstores.
Abusive doesnt even begin to describe this place.
Overpriced but necessary
Awesome selection
Too expensive and they never keep to their hours
Never buying a textbook here again
Parking is too expensive for campus visits.
Its what youd expect
Like any college bookstore, overpriced
Perf!
Ty for all help
Everything is overpriced
Mostly friendly staff
It is what it is
Expensive

Everything is too overpriced
Not a regular store
Many selections, both useful, everyday items and souvenirs
Excellent attention, very friendly and professional people in the work they do.
