I have been going there since they first opened and me and my family LOVE this place! They have the best meat in CT. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the shop is very clean. Cant recommend them enough!

The name says it all. If you desire custom meats (Chicken, Pork, and Beef), it will be challenging to find a better source. Planning your meal is critical for reserving a prime cut. There is disappointment when desiring a specific portion when stopping in. Often the selection is reduced. So plan accordingly. Pricing on the higher end but not many small butcheries around the area. It would be helpful to have a listing of daily offerings (app or website) for people that do not plan their meals.

This place is incredible. I’m staying in the area for a couple months and was looking for a butcher to replace what I was getting at The Meat Hook in Brooklyn. Custom Meats was exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been going weekly and the service has been friendly and efficient, and on saturdays the case is full of every cut you could want. I highly suggest getting a flat iron when you go, it’s by far my favorite steak and theirs is delicious!

The best meats Ive ever had! They explained how they buy the whole animal from local farms and cut everything in store. Im so excited to try all of the various cuts. I picked up some of their sausages and ground beef and they were amazing. The store was very clean and the customer service was top notch. The owner, Tim, explained how to perfectly cook everything and was happy to walk me through their butchery process. Definitely my new go-to spot

Great meats and very clean! I spoke with the owner Tim and he walked me through how to perfectly cook a pork shoulder. It made the BEST PULLED PORK IVE EVER HAD! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. This is how a butcher should be. Delicious, clean, and friendly!

We ordered filet mignon steaks from Custom Meats for our Christmas dinner. One thing we had been sorely missing during the pandemic was a delicious steak. Despite my error slightly overcooking them (gah!), the meat was truly amazing. Better than anything Ive had at Ruths Chris or Mortons. Hoping to find an excuse to order from them again soon!

Love this place! Amazing quality meats with unique cuts to try. They offer wonderful suggestions to get the best flavor from the cut. The maple sage sausage is to die for!

I am not one to normally write reviews but when the service is warranted, or this case lack of service, I do. I went to Custom Meats today to pick up a few sausage links and they only had hot made up. They offered to make some plain Italian and said they would be ready in about an hour. I came back an hour later after running some other errands as I live 30 minutes away and politely asked if they were ready. I got a REALLY rude, We said we would call from Tim. I tried to give the local guys some business and what a mistake. To top it off, the sausage was ready and all packed up, so why the attitude? You have great meats, but you really need to focus on your customer service skills .Well Tim, dont call. I wont be back. You lost a customer forever over your miserable attitude. (the stare down out the window when I walked to my car was the icing on top.....) Not sure why anyone would give you any business with that treatment., and by reading other reviews I am not the only one that has been treated by Tim this way....

Great customer service, experienced and helpful with the cuts and what you can make with the. Never seen such aesthetically pleasing cuts of meat before. The flavors and cuts are emaculate and delicious, new favorite meat place by far!

Sure, its very expensive but what incredible steaks. Savory, intense beef flavor that rivals top steak houses. If I ever win Lotto Ill stop by at least once a week. Im saving up for the next great beef experience.

I visited for the first time this sunday and I had a really good experience. Its spotless inside and the staff was helpful. I had an aged steak for dinner last night and chicken for lunch. I could taste the difference in the pastured meats for sure. It was so incredibly good! This is the only place I know where I can get pastured chicken and Im so glad they are here and that I found Custom Meats. My son has a lot of food sensitivities and so Im pleased to know that they are willing to fill custom orders. I plan to order some special order sausages. I have been making my own hot dogs and might not have to anymore that Ive found this place!!

Great service and their ground beef blend makes hands down the tastiest burgers we have ever had. Recently had a BBQ and everyone was raving about them. Awesome butcher all around!

Its like and old time butcher shop, but sooooo much better. The dry aged ground beef makes insane burgers and meatloaf. In fact going back today for more for a BBQ with friends. Not cheap, but good never is.

The breakfast sausages I bought here were absolutely amazing. Flavorful, hearty and no fillers. Ill definitely be back next time Im in the area.

Custom meats has turned into my favorite shop for any meat product. The first time i stopped in i bought a bag of bones to make my own bone broth soup. 24 hours later it was done and really good as a clear broth to fight a cold. The next week i bought their fantastic bone broth which was amazing when i added it to three of their soup shanks (made into a beef vegetable soup). The shanks were the tastiest I have ever had. The third trip I bought 2 more of their bone broths. I also made a terrific pasta sauce using their sweet (1) and hot (2) sausages plus their ground beef. Together it made a spicy pasta sauce rich with flavor.Everything has been delicious. Their customer service is outstanding. I purchased a gift card on my 2nd visit for a holiday gift that was very well received. Its obvious that they care about everything they do from the ribbon on the gift card to the flavors in their sausages to how sparkling clean their store is. I look forward to trying their bacon and steaks on one of my next visits. Highly recommend this store.

I just went to Custom Meats today for the first time, I really liked their products and service, I will definitely go back for more. In my opinion its definitely worth paying more for quality pastured local meats, pastured eggs, freshly made bone broths, etc.

This place is the real deal - local meat, small business support, and humane practices. And everything tastes amazing. I cant find a butcher this great in NYC.
