Love this range and the people who run it. Im new to the gun scene and been a handful of times now and have felt welcomed every single time. The staff is beyond friendly, even so much to offer something simple as a free bottled water on this really hot day. Ill continue to support these guys and be happy to bring new people to give their business.
Love this place!! Highly recommend they are very helpful, informative and knowledgeable of their merchandise they are selling. If you are looking to get your license to carry this is the place to go!
Extremely pleasant people and great service! John and son are great to work with
Very helpful staff. Friendly & knowledgeable. FFL. Range is adequate with various separate areas and distances to shoot from.
Love this place. It’s a range. No shrimp cocktail and champagne here. Beautiful outdoor pistol and rifle ranges. Owner is considerate and will answer any questions you have. I drop in once or twice a year to sight in. Always has a few boxes of ammo for when I run short. Straight forward range run by a straight forward guy. Probably swing by tomorrow get this .308 dialed in.
Very plain and practical outdoor range. My fiancée and I were visiting from NY and looking for a range. John was great and gave us the grand tour! They have handgun rentals and rent hearing protection for those of us who are not yet gun owners. Ammo prices were very reasonable as well.Prices overall were very reasonable, we had an amazing time! We will definitely be back for classes. Thank you John!
Excellent service. Very knowledgeable personnel. Friendly, courteous, professional. Highly recommend.
The people running this place are very knowledgeable about guns. I have been going there for the last 10 years. I always have a pleasant experience.
Really cool group of guys. 🤙🏼
Excellent family run place run by folks with a TON of knowledge. John couldnt be friendlier and is always hospitable. My father frequents this place often and I come with him whenever I visit and am treated as if Im a regular. I would definitely recommend and come back again!
Friendly owner and good atmosphere.
Great. Good courses and basic range with lots of different distances. The cats are cool.
I like it, its pretty friendly. And the only one in the area that you dont have to be a member to use. The range is primitive, but its not expensive to shoot there either so you get what you pay for. The folks are nice, they dont want you picking up your brass here. Sort of a bummer
Very nice experience for the first time being there. Friendly people who went beyond the normal service to ensure that my wife and I enjoyed our hour of shooting. They checked our guns as a safety precaution and showed me that one of my guns was not safe to fire. They now have a repeat customer.
Love the owners love the atmosphere very knowledgeable polite staff that will go above and beyond to make make your experience with them great. In my opinion this is best outdoor range in Delaware.
Staff was incredibly kind, the range is very nice too. There are stray cats but I dont think its that big of a deal.
Today January 1st I called and verified the range was open. After driving all the way from Pocomoke I went into the office and spoke with a older Gentleman. I told him i needed to rent a handgun and he told me he can not I needed another person this was a major blow to hear and especially me being a navy veteran. There is nothing on there site that says how many people you need to bring to rent a handgun and I have shot at a dozen ranges and this was the 1st time i heard this. Very disappointed to drive almost 2hrs to be turned down because i did not have my own firearm.
Great place, have been going there for years. Very low-key and straightforward - dont expect anything fancy. The owner John, a former Georgetown police officer, is a great guy and a wealth of info. No range officers so its pretty much self-managed on the firing line.
Very nice gun shop and range. Very helpful staff. Not a large inventory of guns but will order anything you want.
Hole in the wall type of place. They carry ammo, some accessories, and rentals. The range has everything i need, You can shoot pistol separate from rifle, and the rifle range has plenty of benches. I have been to this range 6 times in the past year. 3 out of the 6 times we were the only group there (Which I like). It is true that there is little to no supervision, but the few times when there were other people shooting along side us, we followed the typical protocol of HOT / COLD procedure. When we wanted to go cold we would unload, lock our bolts back, and once we all were in agreement the line was cold. Once, I arrived with a group of 10 people, and they were able to accommodate our special occasion and JD took a picture with us. JD has treated me and my friends right every time we have visited, and we dont have plans to go anywhere else when we are in the area. Also, be ready for the cats. Cats cats cats...all over the pro-shop. They never bothered me much since i never spend more then a few minutes in there before and after shooting. All in all, JDs is absolutely worth trying.
Take my kids here a few times a year. It has two pistol ranges surrounded by embankments and one rifle range with 30, 50, 75 and 130 yard targets. The rifle benches are good. The whole range is outdoors (isnt that the point?). Well be back in 2016 and beyond.
Worst place Ive ever been owner wouldnt let me take my sccy 9mm on the range and suggested I rent one of his guns when I said sure I just wanna shoot a little he opens his safe and in plain sight seen guns out of boxes he says his wife took the rental guns... how are you gonna be a shoot at your own risk range but not allow someone to take their own firearm onto the range. Needless to say dont go here unless you only have s&w products to shoot
Im a local and this place is the best Ive been in, service is great and they know there guns too😄👌 Going today
Range was littered with kittens that probably need medical attention. One of the employees gave me a BS spiel about how I cant pick up my own brass for safety reasons. Although I noticed only the reload able shells were left up so they can sell. They only had a sign in sheet at the OFFICE that said nothing of the sort inference to brass policy nor were we briefed on arrival. Needles to say I too my expensive brass even after one of the employees went so far as to grab a bag of the brass I started to collect out of my range bag (rude to go through my stuff) the office was a mess. Stuff Everywhere the clutter overflowing even to the back room. And the office smelled of cat piss. Also with all the dirty cats laying a round. be prepared to be annoyed by thousands of Flys.not recommend Id rather pay the dues at Bridgeport in PA than drive to this horrible place. P.S. took all my brass and you should expect a visit from some animal police if i could give this place a zero star i would.would.eiveryveryridgeport I and
We had a nice time shooting on the range. A pretty rural setting and a shop run by some people who know their stuff.OH, and they had some 22s!!
Great people, friendly, exactly the type of place where you want to go shoot. Provide a much needed service in an area where there are few opportunities to enjoy the shooting sport.
I purchased a rifle here, and the place smelled like cats just like the other review said. BUT he ordered my gun and had it there in two days and still sold it to me for less than i could find it for online ... good place to buy, nice owner
Never have gone here before, I jumped online the night before to read all the rules, check hours etc. Says family friendly, under 18 need parent present etc, as well as normal safety topics. Got out there with the family, they said my daughter couldnt go out stating she was too young, even though no minimum age was posted there or online. She is young but versed in safety and already have shot rifles prior to this visit (Part of our visit was to get her on a longer range than we could at our residence). I certainly understand they need a minimum age to shot because of insurance etc, but they exclaimed she couldnt go anywhere past the parking area...Made a quick run out, The ranges were ok, nothing special and not bad. There were some friendly decent people out there when we went so made friends and established communication quickly, but could see how people could have had bad experiences if you get novice handlers out there at the same time.Little pricey to have just a port-o-john for the ladies, and yea, like everyone else has said, dont pet the cats, youll probably take something home with you.
Stopped in to check out the shop. They had ammo, something that isnt so easy to find these day, and the staff was polite enough. But thats where the good report stops. Its not exactly the cleanest place, with stuff stacked everywhere. Then the place is overrun by cats, some apparently not in very good health, and thats inside AND out. Im a cat owner and lover, so cats dont bother me. But I was so concerned about carrying a disease home to them I used hand sanitizer when I left. Even worse is the smell. When you walk through the door the litter box stench takes your breath away! We bought what we came for, but didnt hang around to check anything else out.So if you stop here, you might find what you are looking for. But be prepared and have some hand sanitizer and nose plugs handy. We, however, WILL NOT be back.
Had a very good experience at JDs defense good people to work with would definitely go back
Smells of urine. Shady business run by disgraced ex-cop.
Went to this shooting range on a Sunday - the set up is at best terrible. The place is dirty and trash-strewn. The range fees are $15 per hour whether you are a member or not, however there are membership levels that do give you a cheaper range fee.The range is unsupervised. I was going to put a target up when a woman started shooting downrage. As soon as I heard her weapon going off, I did a quick 180º and range-walked back up to the top. Its nice to have a long leash at the range, however stupidity is another thing. No one even bothers announcing that they are going hot etc. Unbelievable.Be very careful when dealing with this shooting range. In the shop there is a All Sales Are Final sign - be careful. When I went into the shop to get a box of rounds and a target, the range owners son said I could pay later. When I returned with one unused box of ammunition the owner demanded that I pay - that all sales are final. I explained that I didnt purchase anything, therefore his policy had no effect. He became very upset and irrational - very rude. This place isnt worth the bother. If you are from Delaware - then there isnt much out there for shooting. Avoid this place - bad customer service, poor facilities.
Fun place to shoot. Signs are not correct about no rapidly firing
Ill give the place 3 stars, as Im sure they have a following. For me however I thought the request was well within what they should carry for muzzleloader season, and I was looked at like I had 3 heads. Probably will not be returning. Not sure what they offer for guns/sporting arms.
Good people good service very knowledgeable
Nice little outdoor range $15
Range is open and staff is VERY helpful!
