This is a great store if youre looking for games. They have a big selection of board games, dice games, card games and more. They have materials for D&D, Warhammer 4000 and similar games. You can buy paint able figures as well as paint and brushes. They have a big selection of dice and even some cute dice bags. They have a room for playing tabletop games with friends as well as demo games to try out. The employees are always helpful and friendly.

Employees were pretty rude, games are about $10-$15 dollars more expensive than the gaming goats and the gaming goat grants military discount. Not worth it.

Made my first warhammer 40k purchase and fell in love with the store.

Imperial Outpost is a fantastic board game shop! They carry tabletop games, including board games and skirmish games like Warhammer and Star Wars Legion. The shop also sports a gaming space with several generous tables, large enough to play the biggest board skirmish games.One of my favorite additions to the store is the Painting Academy area, which boasts a sensational inventory of paint! They carry Scale 75, Vallejo, Pro Acryl, TurboDork, and several other S-Tier brands, in addition to the Citadel paints we all use. They also have airbrush supplies and an impressive collection of painting and basing materials. The space is set up so they can teach painting classes, too, with an instructor leading a class with a close-up camera showing their work on a large TV.Im from out-of-state, but I stop by Imperial Outpost every time I visit Phoenix, because theyve got a collection that really compliments my local fame shop back home, featuring brands I cant get at home.

A great local gaming store with an excellent selection. The store is well stocked with a variety of wargames, board games, and role playing games, and not just a couple of major titles. Plenty of accessories for pathfinder and 5e, as well as a number of other titles for FATE, Savage Worlds, and Cyberpunk. The staff is super friendly and are making sure things are safe during COVID-19. I cant always get to the west side, but I make a point of coming here when I need gaming supplies. This is a great gaming store with a huge selection to browse from.I do not mean video games, Im talking about table top and board games. They have a huge selection of, Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons, and more.They also carry a great selection of board games. This was a perfect gift idea for our friends who get together to relax and play games.The store is massive, they also have an area to play, although I didnt see anyone actually playing. They have several tabletops set up for your gaming needs, but you do need to have a reservation ahead of time.They also have a section dedicated to painting and cleaning up your craft. For those who like to paint their own pieces.The only issues I had were the prices, which I can never seem to really find cheap games. They can range from 25-70 dollars plus. Also customer service wasnt the greatest. After spending over 100$ in the store I wasnt offered a bag or thank you.All in all I had a good experience and was able to unleash my inner nerd.To the store owners just remember who funds your business, and take care of your clientele please.

A few friends have had good experiences at this place and Im generally all about supporting local shops. However, my experience has been about 50/50. Unfortunately, after today Im done with them. I dont have a need to be there on a regular basis so definitely not a regular (been there only about six 6 times in the last 5 months). Ive only spent about $600 or so in that amount of time which is probably not enough for them to take notice.My first experience was on a Sunday, I was ignored by the staff and when I did ask a question, they were very short with me. The second time and third time was a wonderful experience, they were helpful and friendly. The next two times it was back to 50/50. I was in there Sunday (13 December 2020) around 2:30 and while holding several items to purchase and looking over a rack for a few more things. The employee ushered me out of the way to show another customer something on that rack. I had plenty more on my list to get, but now this other customer was busy browsing the rack I had been moved away from. Getting shooed out of the way by an employee instead of waiting for me to be done is unacceptable. I guess they dont need that much business and Im not in the habit of begging shops to take my money. From what I can tell unless youre a regular they dont care about you. Hopefully, there regulars are enough to keep them afloat. Its a shame, Ive always liked game shops. Amazon has everything they have if you can wait a day or two for it to be delivered.

I personally love this store. It is more of a specialty and niche table top gaming store, so the games they carry wont be what you would expect to find in a big box store. But if you are into table top role playing games such as D&D, Warhammer, Pathfinder, X-wing, etc. You will most likely find what your looking for. Also their selection of board games is extensive, if you are looking for something different than what you grew up playing, I am sure you will find something that will strike your fancy.

This place was pretty cool if your into board game or rpg style games, not so much card games but if D&D or Warhammer are your speed then wow ya, miniatures from wall to wall complete with a back room for fully customizing, painting, crafting ect. Friendly staff and from what i figured they host games here, theres a wall with nothing but board games and the varieties were nice, point being if your a hands on fantasy gamer, step on in.

Ive been impressed by the service the fine folks at Imperial Outpost provide every single time Ive walked through those doors. Heck, the last time I went there, their item shipment had just arrived, and instead of me leaving empty handed, Darren himself dug through the 10 box shipment to grab my pre-order from their distributor.This store keeps showing me what a well run game store can look like, and the fact that the owner is a caring and responsible individual makes it all the more worth the 45 minute drive I make each way to go there.

Excellent store. The game rooms and painting areas are amazing and my only complaint is that I live too far away to make regular stops here. Any time I have come for an organized event though everything ran smoothly and the shop were great hosts. Would highly recommend them to anyone on the west side of town

As a functional retail store it excels. They have just about everything a table top gamer can want. Community-wise, they host gamer garage sales, painting contests, tournaments, special events, concerts, and more. Helpful staff, awesome space to buy games and play them (though the play area is closed due to the pandemic). The owner takes social distancing, mask wearing, and hand sanitizing very seriously for all staff and patrons of the store, which is greatly appreciated.

This is the Cheers of local gaming, a jewel in the crown of hobbyists whether they pursue board gaming, RPGs or wargaming. This store is not some hole in the wall that feels like the owners converted their mothers garage with their saved up allowance. IO offers comfort and goodwill, with snacks and an ample gaming hall worthy of the Vikings in Valhalla. The staff is knowledgeable and polite, and the store is very well stocked. This is a Good Place, and deserves its reputation as being one of the premiere game stores in the valley. Its always worth the drive. Five out of five stars.

Not only are there prices horrendous compared to The Gaming Goats in both Norterra AND Mesa but the customer service was bland at best. I often wonder if it hurts the employees to smile here...

My favorite FNGS. They dont carry MtG, really, but they carry a massive assortment of board and rpg games. Miniature games are also big here with plenty of space to play.

AMAZING selection of board games! Card games! All games! Huge selection of Fluxx and munchkin, I highly recommend my favorite game Tales of the Arabian Nights (its a choose your own adventure for adults due to complexity and fun!). Staff was so helpful, cool game room in back. Board game night every Thursday 530-10 ish. Restrooms are clean for customers and gamers. Lots of miniatures and figurine stuff for those into it (not my thing but huge selection!). A+++

I have been a shopper and gamer of this place for years. It has a great selection of games of all types. Normally a RPGer, but everyone here is great and turn me to other gamers and helped me expand my horizons to board games cards games, and even miniature war games. I’ve never felt pressured to buy something even when in the gaming room. Everyone is more interested in everyone having a good time. When a new game comes out Imperial Outpost Games is the first place I turn to.

Fun spot for picking up my boardgames of choice. Great selection and they almost always have what Im looking for. Very personable staff. They attract a really friendly crowd because even some of their regular customers want to help out if they see you walking around looking for something.Ive never attended any of their game nights, but they seem to be well attended based on the size of the crowd I see when Im shopping.

The best game/hobby store in the state, PROBABLY the best in the country. I love how it was stated to me last year : Imperial Outpost is a DESTINATION store. People come here as a special trip, even if it isnt convenient. Lucky for me, its always been convenient. Great store with very helpful staff. Imperial Outpost has a HUGE gaming and hobby area in addition to the store with tons of gaming mats and terrain for table top players to use and have games on their tables for free. They also have a large selection of other board games available to play for free. My son and I play Age of Sigmar their with a group of people every week but I have even gone in with my younger son and played board games their as well.PLEASE support our local hobby stores and shop here instead of online. Online is very convenient but doesnt offer us a place to play or the help and expertise of staff.

I love attending Imperial Outpost events not only that I remember driving 30 miles to pick up a Bretonnian battalion they held for me. Very friendly and cares about the rule of law and protecting the community. They require you to wear masks to shop there doing the COVID crisis which is an A++ requirement. COSTCO does the same thing and I feel much better when I see everyone taking precautions to protect each other.

Went to this store for the first time yesterday. Amazing selection, clean store. The staff member I interacted with was very friendly, we had a great conversation, and he proceeded to give me tips on how I can find more specific miniatures and let me know I can even order them through the store! I drove from the east valley to try this store and it will now be my go to place.

While living in Phoenix, this was my goto board game store for close to a decade. The gameboard selection is really good having a lot more than just the current hot thing, and the rpg book section pleasantly has way more than just D&D and Pathfinder. On Thursday nights, they have an area where you can meet people and play games, borrowing from a huge library in the store, or bringing your own from home. The staff is very knowledgeable, if not a little curt. My only critique is that the shelving and tables in a few areas are a little uncomfortably cramped. Feels like something they could eventually resolve if they wanted to though.

This FLGS has been at the forefront of positive board game and shopping experiences in Arizona.
