Wow, cant say enough good things about this bike shop. We have bought a couple of bikes from them and they are extremely knowledgeable and very helpful helping us pick the right bikes for our needs. A recent example of superior customer service, one of the bike frames we purchased broke and they took care of working with the manufacturer to get a full replacement. Outstanding experience. I went into de ORO looking for shoes. I even called ahead of time to make sure they had shoes. When I arrived, not one of the three people working came over to help or answer questions. One of the guys working was assisting a customer, but the other two were not interested in helping me. After trying on two pairs of shoes, I gave up and headed to the door. When I walked out, no one said a word. I guess they didnt want my business. I went to the Trek store down the street and was greeted immediately, helped, and sold a pair of shoes. Easy and simple.Other people Ive talked with about de ORO have had similar experiences. The consensus is that if you are friends with someone that works there, they will treat you great. If not, dont waste your time.

This is the best bike shop in the region. How many bike shops have served a community for over 40 years under the same ownership? Very few. They will not sell you the most expensive bike they can...they will sell you the bike that is right for you. They are great working with kids and new riders. As the assistant coach of a MT Bike team, I always feel comfortable sending new riders to their shop. They have an incredibly knowledgeable staff that has also been with them a very long time. Their service dept is top notch. Competition in the biking industry has become brutal, with bike manufactures and stores appearing and disappearing rapidly...you can know that Cycle De Ore, Precision, and Giant are rock solid.

They sold me a bike that didnt fit and they knew it. I kept telling them that it didnt fit. To fix the fit they encouraged me to buy a $60 seat post that would place the seat further back to make more room for legs. Didnt work. My fault I should have rejected buying the bike. Ordered a new seat and they didnt order it for two weeks so I cancelled it. I was told it would be there in 3-4 days. All they wanted to do is talk without any follow up. I stopped going there after all the runarounds. $2800 for a bike and this is the service one can expect? I had a flat tire two weeks after I got it and called. No offer to pick it up and fix it. I asked Trek if I could pay them to pick the bike up and fix the flat and they were at my home in an hour. Returned it same day. I spent another $1200 on bike riding gear accessories at Trek. All of this could have been Cycle D Oros business! Incredible service at Trek on a bike they didnt sell.

After a 35 minute drive from my home in another county, I arrived only to be told that the guy I had an appointment with was not there, he had a family issue to attend to. He had neglected to take down my number when the appointment was scheduled, so nobody was able to call me beforehand. The guys working there said he would be in after a few hours, and asked it I wanted to come back or wait. I politely declined, as I had other obligations that day and its not like it was a 5 minute drive across town. One of the employees took down my phone number and said they would have the bike fit guy call me to reschedule. He has still never called. This was my first time ever going to this store and now it will be my last, unfortunately.

Drove up from Danville Virginia to look a a Giant bike that I had researched online....I had narrowed my search between the 2018 Cannondale Trail 5 and the Giant Talon 2..... We arrived just as they were opening on a rainy Tuesday morning.....They’re were several people already waiting for them to open the doors.... My friend and I saw the Giant Talon and went right to it, as Woody the bike mechanic began to assist the other customers.....Ben the salesman greeted us very politely and told us that he would be happy to answer any questions that we may have about the bike....I asked if I could take it for a spin....even though it had been raining he agreed....I feel in love with the bike after riding it..When I came back inside I must have asked about a hundred questions.... Ben and Woody answered every one of them even though I didn’t purchase the bike at the time because at the time they only had the large frame in stock and My size is right at the cut off from medium to large...I wanted to talk to my friends who ride often to get their opinion before making a decision... I even called back several times and, even though they were busy Ben and Woody took the time to deal with me and my questions.Long story short I returned today to purchase and pick up the bike and the minute I walked through the door I was greeted by a friendly Gentlemen with an apron on.....Turns out it was the owner Dale.He was as friendly as they come....Ben was there and they had the bike ready for me...I had a great conversation with Dale, truth be told I could have sat there and talked to him all day...he was that nice also he knocked some off my total purchase....In concluding my experience With the whole Cycles De Oro was nothing short of Stellar!!!I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is interested in purchasing a bike or needing service for a bike...

I was treated like my money was not good enough for these people. I had my intelligence insulted, $3.99 for each spoke ! I have met others who were treated just as shabbily, and will never do business at Cycles De Oro. I just wanted to buy spokes for the 2 bicycles I was restoring at the time. I payed $10.00 for having the lengths I would need and of course I did not expect to have this done for free, but I did expect to have it done right. Do these people not know just how small 1 millimeter is ? If it comes out to be 300.8 millimeters then you just go with the next size 301 millimeters is that so hard ? Really Did I look that stupid ? Customers should always be treated like you want their business. Mr. Dale Brown do you have any idea how your staff treat your customers ? If you condone such behavior why dont you get out of the business. I almost lost my temper before I could get out of the door, With all of the lunaticfringers, running around this country these days, it looks like at least one of them would stop by your establishment.

I run a little bike shop and every time I visit Greensboro I make sure I visit Cycles de Oro. This last weekend the shop was hosting the Ferrous Foray casual bike ride, social with food and refreshments and a wee little bike show and swap meet and was the perfect excuse for a visit. Though the weather was a big threat it held off until we were finished with our activities. They hope to host these gathering as often as once a month. The shop also hosts serious races, centuries and bike events with a national and international footprint and local people are fortunate they happen in their backyard. One thing I needed was a special spoke for a fancy Shimano wheelset. While I stock over 20K worth of spokes I did not have one of these. Oddly many shops no longer stock spokes for sale individually, build or even true wheels like in the old days. The reason is economics. It seems nowadays everyone wants high grade Swiss spokes that seemed to be priced by Senior Swiss accountants that must split the profits every time they raise the price. Couple this with several dozen lengths, several dozen styles, shapes, wire gauges and even color and you have a mess on a commodity that forces you to buy between 100-500 identical pieces to sell just one! Cycles deOre may not have solved this problem but they have invested in a custom spoke machine that despite costing thousands of dollars itself allows them to provide spokes in any length affordably. Bravo to them.My problem that day was that this common wheel (at one time it was) needed a spoke that could not be found in singles from the manufacturer or in less than batches of three ( $30 on Amazon) in the correct length even on Ebay! Well the DeOre staff gave me only fleeting hope in finding the spoke and special magic spoke nipple I needed as they claimed they never sold these wheels! It was then they saddled me with the task of a little treasure hunting, organizing, stuffing the tip jar and pushing a broom with the knowing nod of the hopeless quest laid before me.Well I found after careful searching they had what could be found nowhere else; the fabled 288m black bladed aero spoke with treble sized alloy nipple and magic rim washer. An exact new replacement. The price was unbelievably low as well. It was like my money was no good there. Their new store is a treat with new and old bikes woven into a lovely blend of nostalgia mixed with modern technology. I look forward to another visit soon but I sure hope I dont need another spoke like this.
