Ive had some bad experiences at this store before. Many times, the store clerks completely ignore the customers. However, tonight I walked in and this very nice clerk named Jeffrey helped me immediately. He greeted me as soon as I walked in and was super sweet. He helped me decide on the perfect shade of concealer. And even tho it wasnt in stock, he made sure I had a sample to last me until the one ordered for me arrived. On top of that... his makeup was on point. Thank you so much Jeffrey!

I never complain, Im respectful and try to be understanding in all situations typically. No Karen over here, however the way they treated me today concerning my questions I had about their curbside delivery and order procedures were disrespectful and rude. Just be cool, presenting yourself with a fake customer service voice after you and your staff blatantly had a disregard for myself and the simple questions I had.... earned yourself a poor rating, a call to the JCPenney hotline, a complaint to Sephora....a cancellation and full refund of my order.#dobetter

Went in to try a few new items and asked the employee about any good blushes by cruelty free brands and was immediately shown the Nars blushes when I asked if the brand was cruelty free(they aren’t) she said yes I asked about other brands and she showed me a few other brands that I’d already tried then the Sephora brand which I didn’t know much about and when I asked about their status as cruelty free she said they were as well(they aren’t). I could understand not knowing but I don’t appreciate being lied to and tricked into supporting brands who don’t match my values.

The staff at this location are very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. I am always greeted and I feel welcome and important when I step onto the black tile. I have never walked away empty handed...i always get help with what I needed or something i didnt even know I needed. The stock at this location may be a little low on certain products from time to time because Im sure they have very high volume. I mean where else is there to go to buy the best high end make up in hickory?! I was reading some of the other hateful comments. I just dont think people take the time to recognize or share there good experiences enough. Too many negative Nancys in the world.

Awful is the only word to describe this store. I walked in looking for help with foundation I walked up to the woman behind the register she looked up from her phone rolled her eyes and asked how she could help me. I asked for help with foundation, she wipes my face, puts the color matcher to my skin, hands me the iPad and says β€œthese are the ones in your color” and walks away back behind the register on to be on her phone. I really wanted to just stop by and have a quick consultation and since the store was empty I thought it the best time but I suppose to Sephora customers are just a bother. Oh well. I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone under any circumstance purely based off the service.

The selection at this location is horrible! I’ve been to the store ( a 30 minute drive ) the last 2 Sunday’s. Both times they were out of my brand of makeup. I asked the lady that checked me out after a very long wait, If they were going to have any of that makeup. I told her I had been there the last 2 weeks looking for it and she said β€œ we will have it next week”. She didn’t offer to order any or give me a suggestion on something similar. I ordered it online to save myself the trouble of driving all the way there next time.

Once, I asked if they had the too faced lip injections gloss. She made a weird face at me and shook her head no and didnt even say anything. I walked around the store and found the gloss on my own.On a different visit, I went to buy the new Fenty foundation but one of the workers (African American) said that brand wasnt for me? ok. Like literally, so rude.

I’ve been reading some of these reviews and all the ladies I have delt with there are super sweet! They helped me color match my face and are very knowledgeable about the products unlike the ladies at ulta. Then I went in a week later with my friend and they helped her just the same. Also if you shop online the online app is very organized.

I had the most amazing time and after reading these reviews and after seeing the staff interact for over three hours ( it was my first time there and there’s a lot to look at) I feel like only those few customers who are mad or sad or petty enough are the only ones reviewing on here and those of us majority of good experience having people should seek these things out to show support for the team that was there when I was. Now I may not have had the same person as y’all but the only male that works there and said he was newer only been there for like three four months ( who btw totally has better makeup skills then half the girls that I go to school with.) was so sweet and super freaking knowledgeable. I’ve never had makeup on before and when he finished I teared up because I had never felt more beautiful. He even stayed almost an hour over his shift off clock to finish my face because they were so busy and I was having to wait a little longer than he felt like I should have. Even tho it was a free day and I kept telling him it was fine and he wouldn’t take no for an answer which made me feel like I was important and that my time mattered. While he was applying god only knows what magic to my face we talked he was genuinely open with his life and actually listened when I spoke about my own life. He also let me watch in a hand mirror and talked thru more complicated steps of contour highlight and made it simple so I could do it at home. Tho he did say it would take practice and every day I go in and see him I show him a little more of my progress. I had an experience that cannot be rare(at least with him) because two other customers on separate time while I was there asked to get his schedule and when I asked why they share very similar experiences. So to those who read this and have had a negative experience try one more time going in and look for the only guy working there he had long red hair and see if he doesn’t change ur mind and have u coming back. And for those of you reading this that haven’t been and are reading reviews to see if it’s worth it go in and ask for him or his schedule and come In when he’s there tell him Katie recommend u see him he’ll take care of you regardless I just wanna see if anyone reads this post

THESE ARE SOME RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL WORKERS!! There are only 2 or 3 that are actually nice and ask if you need help BUT overall I dont feel comfortable going in there because those girls are so rude as hell!! I had a gift card that wasnt swiping and she snatched the card out of hand and did it herself and walked away with an attitude! I hate going there but when I do and I see the same girls that were rude to me, I just walk back out! Dont waste your time in there!

On 3/1/19, my Fiance and I were in the store for about 25 minutes looking for certain products. There were 3 associates working in the store and did not acknowledge us once or ask if we needed help. When we were checking out associate number 0091 was very rude and unpleasant. She asked for our phone numbers and when we said we were not interested in giving out our information she got even more rude and made us out to be liars and said Have you not shopped here before!? with the most hateful look on her face. Then another associate chimed in saying that if we did not give them our information then it would hurt them. The associate checking us out then shoved our purchases in a bag with the receipt and entered someone elses beauty insider information (probably hers) into the system which is on my receipt. I will now be driving a hour away to the nearest Ulta or ordering products online.

Possibly the rudest staff in all of Hickory and the worst Sephora I’ve ever been to. I will only shop online now or at the locations in Charlotte. It’s been this way for a few years now. I don’t really understand why they keep hiring such rude, uneducated staff. Maybe it’s a management issue? There have been a few nice workers, but the attitudes and rude behavior of the rest of the staff overshadows any good employees. Ulta and MAC will always be my first choices to shop for makeup now (esp MAC, their customer service is phenomenal).

The lady in there was so rude said that she didn’t have time to do it that she already knew what color I should get and then proceeded to talk about us to a customers she was helping.

Worst Customer Service I have ever experienced at a Sephora! All staff members did not acknowledge or care for my existence nor any customers that I saw walking into Sephora. I asked a worker if they have an item in stock at this location and they responded rudely as if I didn’t know what I was looking and asking for. They didn’t even offer a second solution in helping me order online. Most things were dirty and try on testing samples were empty and needed to be restocked. The cashier worker (Associate Number: 0823) had the dirtiest look while ringing up customers before me. She threw my bag down on the little counter top with the annoyed tone saying β€œHave a nice day. Bye!”. Being the only Sephora around this area, you would assume their customer service will be excellently helpful. No wonder this location has such a low review rating. It’s more of the staff! Sephora, you hired the wrong staff to represent your store at this location.

This Sephora is ok. Stock wise, they are on top of things until about halfway through their day, and then the associates lose track and the store becomes a mess, so if your looking for a well stocked store, go early. Staff wise they are extremely understaffed most of the time. The reason they are getting 3 stars is purely based on the sympathy I have for the employees, although the employees do need to work on their etiquette. They are unhelpful in many situations, but are especially unhelpful toward anyone who appears younger than 21 and/or anyone who is not wearing makeup or minimal amounts of it. Whether or not this is intentional, it needs to be worked on. Although many of the younger people their are not paying customers, they still need to be treated as such for it to be a successful store. The employees tend to create a very hostile and intimidating environment as well. Overall the store is ok, but it definitely could be better in many aspects. All this store needs is a reboot in management and employment and they are good to go.

This Sephora is not well stocked for the amount of people that shop here! I dont even bother going into this Sephora to shop anymore because the shelves are ALWAYS empty! 2 times in the past month I have made a trip to this Sephora to purchase the Urban Decay Glitter Eyeliners & theyre completely out everytime! They might have 1 or 2 total in stock but thats its! I dont know if they stock the store in the morning & by time I make it there around 4:30pm-5:pm everything is gone. Im guessing someone is either not putting enough stock out or they are just out of products all together! Either way its ery disappointing. The staff is not the worst but also not the best staff I have delt with. Some of the staff is amazing & willing to go far & beyond to help but some of the girls manly the younger ones make you feel like youre just wasting their time. I also didnt like when I took a palette in for a return because it arrived broken. I showed her my packing slip with my order number & I switched it out for another palette because they didnt have the palette I originally ordered & the clerk did it as a exchange without a receipt! Why I have no clue! I even gave her my packing slip with how my order was paid. So now its on file with Sephora I did a exchange without receipt! I just not prefer that be on my profile! I dont even bother shopping in this store anymore because its just so inconvenient & more trouble then its worth! Im a huge beauty product shopper & Im completely limited on where I can shop in person considering this is a very small Sephora in JCpenny (Im old school so I spell JCpenny the correct way . Not the new way JCpenney) & we dont have a Ulta in Hickory for some odd reason! I have a very strong feeling that much will not change with this Sephora considering how many complaints there is but has not changed one bit in the 10 years that Sephora has been in Valley Hills Mall!

Went in a day before my wedding with a messed up manicure, and a broken heart bc I just found a tear in my wedding dress. Come to get a foundation to match me for the day of and I will admit, I was a wreak. So nervous for my big day, crying hysterically and couldnt pick myself up emotionally. I left sephora feeling beautiful and as if god was going to make everything better, all because of the staff. They offered to give me a free makeover for my wedding and on such short notice I wasnt able to make it, and did my makeup by myself. I would just like to thank the 2 amazing women that helped me. I have visted this location a few times over the past year. Everytime I stop in it looks like the store has been ransacked. The displays are non existent, broken, messy, or empty. They are out of stock on alot of items that are not even limited edition. It seems the store cannot keep up with the demand. Hickory probably needs a stand alone store outside of JCPenney. I did not have any interaction with the staff, but they seemed friendly and helpful when I saw them with other customers.
