If I could give it 0 stars I would. I used to live 5mins away from this location and I no longer do. So whenever I drop off my boyfriend at work I pass by this location since it’s close by and I did yesterday and to my surprise there was something waiting for me in my bread. Don’t get me wrong I love the bread from here, reminds me of Ghana but after last night; I’m wondering how many other bread was kissed by a roach. I almost missed it because of how small it is.
You know I always want to come here? To eat their fried yam😀So cool!!!
If I could give this a zero star I would. Went over there and got some groceries and food. I waited 20 minutes for the cashier to check me out. I mean, she spent 20 minutes checking me out!!!! As if that was not enough, got home to find one of my items was missing. Called the store to be told “we didn’t see anything, is there anything else we can do for you?” Bunch of thieves. I will not be returning!!! Go at your own risk! If this is what Houston has to offer, I am sorry for Houstonians.
They gat lots of African foodstuffs, their prices are comparable and great. It can be a little hot inside during summer.
Wonderful experience, all the workers especially those at the fish & meat area were so hospitable. The Cashier too. I enjoyed my shopping there. I rate them 4.5.
Nice store to shop for all food stuffs, very affordable and fresh.
Food is good but oh my... The lines were too long. After about 10 mins wait had to leave without purchasing anything. Too bad I love the food...
I had gone to get egusi soup and efo riro to make a pal happy who had been longing for Nigerian food. I was ashamed to find there was a lot of sand in the soup.
Their freshly baked bread is sweet and delicious! The smell going in is not quite nice.
Always love coming to the African Market with my husband!! Suya Beef!! Seasonings and pepper sauce!! I get all my cooking ingredients here.
Love that they have fresh produce and leaves! But the produce floors are dirty, the entire flooring of the store needs replacement. Makola is the cleanest African Store in Houston. Although SWFM has better prices! All of the cooked foods are so spicy, just too much pepper. Its inedible!
Why do we sell for stuffs in a place that looks so filthy? This is a deal breaker. Keep the place neat, take out the foul smell, get some air refreshers. Let it feel top notch in cleanness and I will revise my rating again.
Well stocked. A little untidy. Attention should be placed on making the place tidy or expanding to create more space.
Cooked foods are my favorite items here.Foods are deliriously made and prices are reasonable and mostly right.
Large selection of traditional/native African grocery items. FRESH baked bread is the best!Small selection of ready made dishes to take away.
In general, their prices are reasonable for some items; but I find dried fish too expensive. However, this is not inconsistent with prices in other local, African stores. Unfortunately, I found their bitter leaves terrible! I had to work very hard to extract a small amount that I could cook before throwing the rest away.
This store felt like I was in Nigeria. They had all I was looking for and more. They actually exceeded my expectations as regards of stocks. They try their best to arrange and keep everywhere neat but I think they can do better.Asides that, this a big store for all your Nigerian foodstuff.I tasted the bread, akara and beef suya. Omg! It was so wonderful.Thank you for bringing the Nigerian feel to US
Good has variety of Nigerian food stuffs. Awesome
The look and feel can be improved by constantly cleaning the shop floor because of the human traffic to the facility.
Stocked with variety of foods, but it could be rearranged and cleaned up.
They have a bunch of African stuffs. That’s the only good thing. If you buy any of their cooked stuff even if it’s rotten and you then immediately they tell you there is nothing they can do. No exchange no refund nothing. The customer service here could also do better. Nigerian stores need to do better with their employees.
This is by far the best African Grocery store Ive ever been to. Everything is organized and they have a great variety of items. Ive never looked for an item and didnt find it in this store. Friendly staff!
They have almost everything. I love their foods too, delicious and reasonably priced. Proudly Naija.
The food was disappointing, just full of pepper and no tangible good taste. My food tasted burnt. I ordered ofada and coconut rice 😭 and neither was good.
Bought 5 packs of FROZEN ISI-EWU put it in the freezer as I was expecting family over the weekend. Come Friday night bring them out but guess what, they are all rotten, like smelling bad & rancid. Went there today Sunday (08/08/21) and am been told by the lady manager nothing can be done because I don’t have a receipt for the foodI offered to show my bank statements on my phone but no she has to see the paper receipt.I am beyond disappointed & will keep pushing this
Love the variety and the feeling of being transported to Nigeria once you walk through the door. A little expensive though but then its probably to cover the cost of importing the foodstuff. The freshly baked 9ja style bread was heavenly. Couldnt wait to get home to tear out a piece, squeeze it and take a bite. Yes i ate some in the car lol.
I like everything about this store but that smell… but we’re Africans so we can deal with it haha.
Predictably rude staff. The bread is always fresh and delicious, so thats a good enough reason to endure the staff
Best Nigerian/ African supermarket in Huston so far. They have everything and in large quantities and even yam. They also have cooked foods togo snacks, pies, and fresh baked agege bread. If your visiting from out of state and need a good store check it out.
They have nice foodstuff but the kitchen people are so rude and cooking rubbish with no test, common stew they cant make, There soups has no text and they just sit there and look down on people, I mean people that cook for public should know how to treat people, please select good firm in the kitchen because its bad to eat frozen nasty soup
Cleaner environment, still needs to work on customer service.
Very very friendly staff. I purchased a lot of oxtails. The butcher did an amazing job!!!!
Friendly customer service. I appreciated what the young team leader, a lady who came early at 07h02 on Friday when the meat place wasnt yet opened to help and served me.She came out of her way, let what she was doing and seved me professionally. I was the first customer and she did all to let me have my goat meat so quick. That store always open on time.Thank you my people Im proud of you.
Food is great... Services was even better
Always visited the Houston location, glad we have one in SA now 🙂
They provide the goods quite alright but the facility is dirty and uninviting
Great selection of otherwise hard to get items. Sometimes, depending on the day, some things may not be there, but they usually are soon. Also, every single staff member Ive ever interacted with here over the years has been extremely helpful, polite, prompt and professional.
Nice and friendly and food was fresh and delicious 😋
This used to be one, if not the best place in Houston to get anything Nigerian... but now its a shell of what it used to be. 3 stars cos the ONLY decent thing there is the bread! Its fresh and its baked in store. Apart from that, its a one star store. They have refused to grow with the times and completely ignored the competition around them. Which is a total shame.. wazobia African markets has now opened a store less than 3miles from them- be interesting to see if that changes anything. Lastly, can you please keep the store clean?! That INCLUDES the damm shopping carts! They are filthy.
Always the best in H town, I love shopping here.
Never had any problem always friendly workers
Got harassed by a strange lady there while shopping who was ant-islam... whereas I am a Christian. Lord have mercy! Haha a
Always fun place.Wide variety of stuff but horrible costumer services.
A great place to buy African food stuffs at a good and affordable price.
Awesome! This is a great one stop shop.
Store has a strong offensive smell could do with a remodel. Prices are okay
I found everything I wanted
The place has good supply of African foodstuff. I bought vegetable soup. It was very delicious but it was very spicy. I wish they will be putting less hot pepper.
Cool place to get your African groceries
Love the experience they treat good .
Unscrupulous people working there and the owners. Beware of this store. There are hidden charges in all the meats. They will charge you 1.49lb of roundabout but will ring you 1.79lb without your knowledge. When you are buying meat check the price they ring you or better yet go to Wazobia and shop. The owner is awesome and they have better customer services
This is my husbands favorite African store he loves the fish stew and quite frankly Im loving it too
The food is awesome and the prices are okay
Nice grocery store
The place is good but not too good. I dont like their food. I buy to cook them.
Nice African store in Houston. Have 90% of African food stuff but the parking lot need security guards.
Good place to shop for food
Go to W. African shopping spot!
Its Allright have space for improvement on customers service
Great organic food. Healthy stuff
Make sure you check your receipt.
Well organized, good soup with enough ingredients like home made soup no management. U can give their Mio.mio a trial so delicious.
Fresh food and clean environment
Always on point, competition doesnt even come close! You guys have NEVER EVER disappointed me. The few tines I tried your competitors, I was 100% disappointed always. I just returned from another shopping spree with you guys and yes I am very happy and blessed. Yes, there are opportunities for improvement (like dusplay of prices) but I will not fail to commend and commend and keep commending you guys. I say Bravo! Thank You!! Cheers
My husband is nigerian and this is where I go to get what he needs. Thanks SW farmers market for keeping my husband happy 😁
Their African food supply is good but their prepared meals aint so good
Fresh produce, Fresh meat restaurants & bakery all in most hygienic environments. Best food store in Houston.
Great to to buy African food.
Ive always patronized this location for years and the experience has always been phenomenal. Theyre always helpful whenever I am in search of any food item or placing a unique order. This is a great African food store in the City of Houston.
All African foods are available here
Has varieties of Intnl.african products, foreign and more. Like home away from home...good place to shop
Ill definitely be avoiding this store and will be patronising other places. Staff are rude, especially at the meat department. Check out lines are extremely slow. Staff screamed at me for taking pictures while I was helping my friend who lives in another state pick out her preferred products. What did he think i was going to do with the pictures? Glad there are now other viable options in the area and this is no longer the only major Nigerian store.
Used to go there, but I think thiss will be my last time. Every time your cashier will make a mistake with the receipt. How did you train them. Today they charge me $ 29 for 3 small yam. I call to have the cost of yams pound and nobody can answer. I didnt pay attention because I was tired and for that I paid cash.Better go at wazobia for my monthly grocery.
Customer service has greatly improved. However, food isnt always ready until late into the day.
I go here anytime we need Nigeria things. You will feel you were in Nigeria market when you enter...iru, ewedu, etc name them
Great food
Great management, excellent customer service
Always well stocked. Prices a bit higher than smaller stores. Helpful staff
I had a bitter experience at the store, even though I have been a loyal customer for 3 years.I had purchase a couple of items for a friend who was scheduled to visit Houston, but plans fell through at the last minute.I went to return the items and I spent the las 20 minutes with the store manager, who refused to accept returns (After calling the Head office/ Bissonett) saying, they couldn’t accept the items because I purchased them 10 days ago. You’ll only experience such inhumane treatment form a low-end Nigerians store, who cares less about customer service and professionalism.Extremely disappointed!!!
Got all I needed for bulk cooking. Positive purchase experience
I love my experience with them. They are jovial and attend to their customers well. Glad i discovered it earlier.
Alkebulan is my rooted home. I will go where my brothers and sisters are. Ase-O
Love the choices but the place is just too filthy. No matter the renovation, its still dirty. With the amount of traffic in one day, they should at least have a clean decent store.
The worst African store in Houston!!! Filthy store with filthy carts! Rude employees! Dont ever go here! Go to Makola, Ghanaian owned and very clean.
Good customer service
Definitely good food especially the jollof
I shop here regularly has everything African and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Although I wasnt shopping on this trip, accompanied a friend of mine, and this is a neat little grocery store with the most pleasant staff...way to go! Awesome all around.
Got items here but sluggish attendants and place smells
My best African market 👍👌
Love there food! Nice place to shop African foods
African delight
Southwest farmers market shops for all Africa food
African market with a difference. Here is home to Nigerian and other African recipes. Its a nice place to shop for the local delicacies and the ingredients.
