Best experience Ive ever had with a mechanic / auto repair shop. Mike and his team are true professionals who fixed some really difficult issues with my truck (clutch, engine oil leak, brakes) at a fair price. I called ahead and then came in the next morning, at which point I was immediately greeted and engaged in a discussion around the problems with my truck. They diagnosed everything within a few hours and gave me a quote for the work. Ive had it back for a few days, and the workmanship is outstanding. High attention to detail and to doing it right. I was searching for an auto repair shop that specializes in fixing Saturn vehicles. The former mechanic I used could not determine how to fix my car; he stated he replaced my cam sensor, when in essence, after Mr. Potous checked my car, I found out that the cam sensor was never replaced. Potous Auto Repair was professional and they fixed the problem i along with 2 other repairs, and had me rolling in no time flat.I’m glad I brought my vehicle to them.

I have an old Ford truck (‘83) that I couldn’t find anyone to work on because it has a carburetor. The guys at Poutous were happy to work on it. They rebuilt the carburetor, put in a starter, and more. It runs very well now. It was over 2 weeks ago that they worked on it and everything is still good. They did a great job and the price was reasonable. I will use them again.

I came in to quickly get air in my tires before heading out of town for my mother’s birthday. I typically do this before a long drive and it’s never been an issue. At any other establishment, I pull up, they ask what I need, I get serviced, and I leave. This particular place saw me pull up and never asked if they could help with anything. In fact, one of them came from the inside, looked dead at me and walked back in. The other was helping a woman and never stopped to ask if I needed any help. I understand he was helping a woman, so I’ll give him benefit of the doubt but this leads me to believe that because we weren’t white and driving a Porsche (like the lady there), they didn’t care to service us. How rude can you be? THIS is exactly what people mean when they speak on racial biases. Not okay.

Better than the nearby Toyota dealership! My Prius pulled to the right. The dealer performed an alignment but the pulling continued. The dealer “thought” I needed new tires and a new sub-frame, but they couldn’t substantiate their decisions. I took my Prius to Poutous. They identified camber settings out of limits, and installed a $60 kit that allowed the factory-fixed camber setting to become adjustable. Within an hour the alignment work corrected the pulling to the right. Trust Poutous!

My family has gone to Poutous for approx. 35-40 years, first with Lou and now Mike. They are totally honest and extremely professional. I trust Mike to give his honest opinion regarding our cars and in a couple of cases it led us to sell and buy new which in the short term takes business away from himself. Lastly, they are so friendly and welcoming.

I drove to this location to receive a service for my tire. They were completely unprofessional. Didn’t acknowledge our presence. I’m certain they saw us because they looked at us. After waiting awhile, we left and they were still unphased. I am not one to use race for anything at all but I do believe unknown racial bias played a role in this situation. Take your money elsewhere.

I actually do not know where to begin. I’ve been to a lot of automotive shops around Houston but this is the best experience I’ve ever had at an automotive care facility. I personally urge everyone who values quality professionalism and value to give this shop a chance.

This is the second time I have used Poutous. My Jeep Wrangler is so old that River Oaks sent me to Poutous and I have found them to be extremely competent and reliable and fair. I recommend this business--they have been around forever and care about their reputation, and you dont have to worry about them coming up with a bunch of unneeded repairs to jack up your bill.

How wonderful to find a shop with such knowledgeable personal and friendly and helpful people.I had some problems with my wheels and texted them to see if they could help.They assured me they could.When I got to their shop I was greeted like a lot g lost relative and given coffee and I swear I could smeal grandmas cookies baking nearby.As promised my wheels were repaired to like new and it saved me $500.00.As I looked around d there were many high end cars and hot rods in various stages of repair and everyone working there seemed very willing to assist me and each other.I know that seems odd in this day and age but I saw it with my own eyes.

Battery was cranking slowly several times this morning. Took it to Poutous to get the battery checked and, yes, indeed, I needed a new battery...it was three years old, so not surprising. They were busy but Kathy helped me, and Mike got the battery replaced for me quickly. I was off and running in probably 30 minutes. Mike saved me from getting stranded later!!! I wouldnt take my car anywhere else but Poutous. Theyre a Houston institution!Poutous Auto is simply the best. Theyve always done a great job for me over many decades. Poutous Collision did a fabulous job replacing a running board on my Foard Expedition. I had a quick initial inspection, then left with my vehicle. They ordered and painted the part and had me come in when it was ready to he installed - which was VERY quick and painless.I cannot recommend Poutous highly enough!

An earlier post said honest and fair, and I agree. Ive been using Poutous since the early 1980s (my first car), and this has always been my experience. Also friendly and quality, but its honest and fair that distinguishes them from the crowd. You can find quality and expensive, you can find friendly, but not be sure all the repairs were needed. But at Poutous you can be sure that they dont do anything you dont need, they charge reasonably, and the quality is pretty high. Thats why theyve stayed busy all these years.

The staff are friendly. However, if you are just trying to get simple car maintenance done, such as change oil and filters, I wont recommend you to go there because they are 20% more expensive than the car dealer and the filters they use are the generic version.

When I call them, they immediately lost temper. So illogical. Just lost a potential customer. Strongly recommend NOT to expect fair service from them.

I am very confused by their business practices. They do seem to be friendly; however, it is very obvious that they try to take advantage of a situation and their story (price) is constantly changing. Went to run a diagnostic test on my car. I was told if did my repairs there that the 140$ dollar diagnostic test would go towards repairs of the car (essentially it would be free), however if I didnt and decide to go elsewhere I would have to pay 140$ still. Knowing this, I decide to get my car repaired here. Their estimates were about 250$ over priced when averaging about 5 other automotive repair shops I called. I decided to still get it repaired there because it wouldnt be worth losing 140$ just drive somewhere else. I got my car repaired and I ask them very specific questions about my car diagnostic test. To whether the problem they fixed will solved my other problem I was having with my car (it not initially starting). They seem to avoid the question and just say... well he should of charged you for the diagnostic test but didnt so youre lucky. You would of been charged 125$ for the test but he forgot. I then tell him that I am confused because when I initially walked in, I was told that if I got the diagnosis test that its cost would go to the repairs of the car (essentially being free). I am also confused because they told me a diagnosis test cost 140$ and not 125$. It seems that they just pick and choose there stories and are very inconsistent. I expect professionalism when I spend so much money to repair my car. Changing the story and avoiding my questions is highly unprofessional. Beware. They will lock you in with a diagnostic fee and then charger you about 30% more of other automotive shops in the area. Then say you are lucky because they forgot to charge you for the diagnostic test. I will not be returning.

So disappointed with the customer service I was given! I was referred to this auto shop by a Firestone employee, after I was given a diagnostic there. The woman at the front desk was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She let me know that it would be two days before they could even look at my vehicle and that it would be $135 for another diagnostic.(Firestone charges $45) Before I could even accept/decline their services she got an attitude, rolled her eyes and told me that she didn’t know any mechanic shop that would just work on my car without running their own tests. I truly feel like I was being mistreated based off the color of my skin and regret stepping foot inside their establishment. I have never felt so low and disrespected in my life. Clearly the owner and employees have a problem servicing people of color and I truly hope that no one takes their car to these monsters!

July 2018 my car was towed here by AAA around 4:30 Friday. I was advised I needed a replacement transmission by AAA. This location was closing in 30 min. My sister and I were stranded, needing to return to Tulsa. The team at Poutous were extremely helpful to us. Took the time to try for repair or if anyone else could do weekend work, no used transmission found for my 2007 . Mike and counter manager went to a lot of extra work to help us out. I dont know much about their repair work, as we didnt use it, we had car taken back to Tulsa. However, these folks were lifesavers to two older ladies with real transportation problems. Thanks to Mike for ride to car rental and all employees .
