I had called and left a message. Matt called me back very quickly. He was very knowledgeable about my options for repair work and completely honest with me regarding the price on any of these possible repairs to my Mercedes. He was able to answer all my questions. I would highly recommend this business.
I brought my BMW in on October 20 for an erratic idle. I specifically told Matt that the car runs fine when I start in the morning but when the car reached normal operating temperature is when the issue would occur. It was most noticeable while stopped in traffic, the idle would surge, making the car lurch forward. NOT SAFE! They checked the car out and recommended a new MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. The cost was $910.00...... I picked up the car and the idle problem was not rectified. I took it back the next day and with my permission, they kept the car and drove it to analyze the symptoms. This time Matt recommended to replace the IDLE CONTROL VALVE with no charge for labor - $397.00. This took two weeks and when I picked the car up, the problem still was not rectified. I returned it the next day. They had the car for 1 month and installed a new temperature sensor. Matt said they would not charge me for the part as it only cost $35.00. GEE THANKS! I guess that means I paid $1307 for a $35.00 part. Matt assured me that is was fixed, but as it was now winter, the engine temperature stayed just below normal and never got high enough to to see if the problem really was solved. Better to sell the car in the winter when it showed no symptoms than wait till summer and see if the symptoms returned. Ill never know if it really was fixed. I sold the car on January 18. PROBLEM SOLVED, but I will miss my BMW convertible. The white one in their picture gallery.
Excellent shop. Old fashion service with hi-tech skills. Recommended.
Professional people. Great service
I dropped my S63 for a precheck today andHans and his team have been super professionalThey have been Very patient and checked every single detail of the car functionality .It was really impressing of how professional and honest those guys are.Highly recommend this place !
Hans and his team do amazing work. I brought in my Mercedes ML 350 for a complex engine hesitation / stuttering issue. The check-engine light had disappeared by the time I brought the car into Hans, so it was not easy to diagnose. His team went through a list of potential causes and figured it out over multiple days of test drives while continually keeping me in the loop. At the end, Hans figured out the issue (a rare combination of automatic load balancing and issues with some of the spark plugs). My car runs smootly now. I doubt that I would get this level of care at another shop. Danke, Hans!
If you’re looking for a fabulous repair shop for your Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche, or Audi, look no further. Texas German Autohaus (TGA) should be your choice. Owner Hans Richter and his team will take great care of you and your car. Hans and team have been taking care of our 1999 Mercedes E300TD (197,000 mi) and our 1995 Mercedes E300D (280,000 mi) for the past 18 years. I simply wouldnt trust any other repair shop with my cars. So stop by TGA and get to know Hans and his team. You’ll be glad you did!
I was here for a consultation and what an honest place this is that I had to come and write a review about this place so that others can benefit from it too.Matt, the person I spoke with, just gave me good advise and after explaining told me that it’s time to let my car go. I mean, he could have just offered to fixed my car, after all he would be making money and who doesn’t like money, but he instead suggested the price of fixing my car is not worth the current total price of my car.So, I’ve decided to let my car go. Thanks Matt for your professionalism and honesty. Appreciate your help and advise.
If you have german auto its the place to go for repair
These guys are the best in town! TGA gives you honest, upfront advice on the health of your car. I use their service for all of my vehicles needs and never leave unsatisfied; especially when they do a sweet gesture in washing my car. If youre looking for a good reliable European mechanic shop look no further! Your car will thank you.
Great as always! Matt is great!
The people there were kind and made you feel welcome. Prices were not bad. Much better than Dealers. Clean but hard working in Garage. I would definitly recommend. My town has horrible import mechanics. I am glad our Domestic cars mechanic told us about this place for our VW. We trust our Domestic car mechanic. He is the best in Bay City, TX. *Petes Auto*
I talked with Matt, he was very knowledgeable, they helped me out with all upcoming issues with out being pushy. Terrific, honest people to deal with. I’m glad I found them.
Absolutely friendly and resourceful.❤
Highly recommend. I had a pretty major issue with my 2017 BMW. Everyone I worked with was extremely courteous, professional, and responsive. I originally spoke with Leslie who made me feel very comfortable. After Leslie, Matt was my primary contact, he patiently and thoroughly explained all available options, walked me through the steps, and kept me fully informed throughout the entire process. If my car ever has another issue, they will be my first phone call. I felt very comfortable with them, and felt like they were honest with me from the outset. They ultimately ended up saving me money from the original estimate.
Really really expensive place to go and I got a repair for my porsche literally a week out of the shop I ran into another issue with the SUV that was related to the first visit I went there for.
Texas German Autohaus is a place I highly recommend over the BMW services. Han is a great service advisor and manager. Always honest and fair with his customers. He saved me from spending more than I should. TGA prices and quality of service is much better than BMW services. Thank you for the great experience!
The most honest and reliable mechanic in Houston. I had an Audi A4 with chronic mechanical issues, and I took it to 4 other area dealerships with claims of being capable of taking care of German cars. Matt at TGA was the only mechanic who was willing to troubleshoot the problem without replacing expensive parts unnecessarily. I recommend TGA to anyone looking for an honest, reliable, intelligent mechanic. They have loaner cars as well and are excellent and communicating with you.
Food excellent. good selection of Texas-German Autohaus favorites (Bratwurst, schnitzel). Service good and prices reasonable. Decor interesting with alot of East German signs and paintings. Good experience. I will be back
The very best in texas
Here’s the deal, I know absolutely nothing about cars - Nada, zip, zilch. This place is like a dealership unicorn - honest with integrity. I had a small issue that I thought was a big deal and they didn’t even charge me-how many people can say that about their mechanics. This is my new goto place for my German cars.
I am an out of town customer of Texas-German Autohaus. I inquired about them doing an inspection on a 2014 Mercedes e250 diesel that I was interested in buying online. They did a thorough inspection of the car before I bought it which the results gave me the confidence to purchase the car. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone. I couldnt have been happier with my purchase, the reasonable cost of their inspection or their helpful and friendly employees.
Failed repairs, but their billing works 100%. It seems they use customers cars to practice repairs. For their hourly rate I expect a trained experienced technician who at the very least should be supervising their new hires. Not recommended. Be sure and double check all their work if you must use them for whatever reason.
The original 145 dollar fee to tell me what was wrong with my car was to tell me is going to need more testing and more money i could figure that on my own
Hans and the guys at TGA are great. They quickly diagnosed issues with my older model BMW and provided a reasonable quote. They felt genuine as many of the repairs were ones I knew were needed and they recommended holding off on some things. Hans was even understanding and didnt charge me a diagnostic fee after I decided to not make any repairs and scrape the car. These guys know what theyre doing and theyre the type of people you want to work with. Im definitely bringing any BMW / MB / Porsche I own to them.
This place was a difficult read for me. I have been on the hunt for a good shop so I took my 335i for a check up and came back with a laundry list of things. Given that I came from the dealership a week before with a clean bill of health, I was quite shocked. After getting an itemized bill, it was clear that I was being overcharged. In fact several things were recommended that really didnt need to be done. Ultimately I decided not to have my car serviced there. While I cant quite explain it, I got a terrible vibe from this place and worried the entire time my car was there. THAT BEING SAID, Matt took his time and explained things in detail to me. He is clearly an intelligent individual and I am sure his shop has competent mechanics. He answered all of my questions and even offered suggestions on how to do my own work on the car. However, I am not interested in paying double just to get my work done there. For the person who got a free bottle of champagne...you realize that is not complimentary. One way or another you paid for it. I would much rather save the money than pay extra and get a cheap bottle of booze.
Brought in my c350 for an oil leak fix. When we discussed the cause of the leak I decided no to have any work done because it was minor work. The guys here still washed the car and picked me up from the rental car place at no charge. They have a great attitude and they were very helpful.
Did a great job on my e39 m5. Would recommend. Friendly owner
Texas-German Autohaus was unable to explain the no start condition of the 2011 BMW 328i which I had towed to their shop. They were able to sell me a new battery and ignition coil over the phone. Their attempt to sell me a new ECU was unsuccessful. I saved $2000 by not taking their advice and instead submitting it for testing and repair (Specialized ECU Repair). No surprise, it tested good and this was proven upon reinstallation. The actual root cause was the ignition coil on another cylinder which was easily diagnosed with my scanner. I was not able to reproduce the fault codes which Texas German Autohaus alleged an ECU fault with my scanner. The check engine light was not on when I picked the car up, but it had a rough idle. It came on during the drive home, likely due to the faulty ignition coil. Buyer beware!
We have brought our Mercedes Benz E350 and BMW X5 for several various services and the work is always complete when promised, less expensive than quotes received from the MB and BMW dealerships and they do an awesome job cleaning the cars, interior and exteriors! The Staff has always been Friendly. Thank you~
Great customer service and great professional mechanics . Did a great job on my BMW, definitely my pace to go for my car here in Texas. Perfect job and quality .
Super clean facilities, friendly staff. Technician Michael is awesome guy A+++Rest airbag Porsche 968 in five minutesThank you guysHighly recommended place
Those guys are the best! They will take the time to explain the issue, risk and your options. Sure, theyre not the cheapest independent garage but you get what you pay for. Id rather pay a tad more, have competent people and the guarantee I havent been pushed unneeded services.
2 Months after I paid good money to have them fix my car I had to take it to another shop to have them fix the problem right AND fix the problems caused by The German Autohaus. I went to talk with one of the owners who didnt offer at all to fix the problem or make it right. Of course he was willing to fix the problem I originally paid for but by then other damage was done.A $200 job turn into $2800 in damage caused by these guys doing the worst possible job !!!! They did NOT do the job I paid them for correctly and they DID NOT make the situation right. The owner just talked to me like I was an idiot. At this point I am seeking legal action.I suggest anyone who cares about their money or their car... Take it to someone else! These guys will screw you over and then act like its your fault!I would give them ZERO stars if I could!
I brought my BMW in for an oil change after having this place recommended to me. The service was exceptional. The staff was very friendly, they had a complimentary shuttle, washed my car with the oil change and went over the top for being a new customer (free bottle of wine and discounted service). I havent had to take my car in for anything more than an oil change, but will definitely be going back to TGA.
I purchased a pre-owned BMW a couple of years ago. TGA was recommended to me by a close friend who had used their services for years. I tried my BMW dealership first, and was underwhelmed by the service and pricing. Clearly, my dealer felt entitled. From my first visit to TGA, I was immediately impressed with Leslie, the Office Manager, who actually cares about customers and customer service. My experience was the same with everyone else I encountered from Matt, the Service Manager to Hans, The Boss Man. Everyone I met, the Valet, the Parts Guy, and even the technicians would speak, answer my questions and provided excellent service.TGA is more than a great auto repair facility - it is a true family owned business, where if you allow them you will feel like family too. But they still charge family members, just not as much as the dealership.
Great place to have your car service . people work here are professional courteous and very knowledgeable. Great customer services by cute two ladies in front desk . keep up your good work guys and special thanks to Matt .
My BMW is recently out of warranty, and I had some problems with Advantage BMW in midtown. The Autohaus is fantastic, and I totally recommend it. I had a serious cooling leak that they fixed quickly and charged me what they quoted me; no surprises. The staff is super cool. I will continue to have my car serviced there.
Failed repairs seem to be their specialty. They replaced the head gasket on my Mercedes. It never stopped leaking oil. I took it back, they played the oil-leak-shell-game and claimed it was the front crank seal, which they had replaced a year earlier.I finally took the car to a qualified mechanic who re-did the head gasket. They stopped the oil leak.TGA replaced the engine mounts which failed at 10,000 miles. They claim not to use after market parts, but this repair was not done with original parts. This was over $6,000 down the drain. If you care about you car, and you care about your money, move on, go find a qualified shop and do the work once.Member, Mercedes Benz Club of America
This place is amazing starting from Hans, the owner. The first time I took my car to this shop was early 2013 when at momentum they told me that I needed to change the struts. I came without appointment on a Saturday noon and the owner was just about to close. He still took the time to give a look to my car and said that I didn’t need the struts replace at all. I hate when shops try to rip you off!! and this one seems very far from that. The owner is very professional and honest. My most recent visit was two weeks ago when I got lamps and brakes replaced. They forgot to fix the running lights so the owner Hans took the time to come to my work for my car get it fixed the same day and sent my car back with a driver. This is a mid-size shop with 2-3 people reciving cars and I guess a team of 10 mechanics. Having all those luxury cars getting service there and taking the time to come for my mini cooper its real great costumer service.
I have known Hans since 1998 when I first took my 1991 Mercedes 300D to him after the dealership warranty expired. He has since provided expert mechanical diagnoses, very fair pricing, and wonderful customer service. I still own that Mercedes, which has in excess of 366,000 miles on it, because of the superior work of Hans, Matt, and the team of TGA technicians who care about excellent customer service and satisfaction. Hans and TGA also maintained two of my BMW’s, both of which received the same expert and conscientious attention. I have recommended TGA many times to friends and family, and will continue to do so. They are the best!
Is a beautiful place and make a good job
They have a nice location and I used them a few times.First it was for a few minor repairs on my BMW. They were ok, even if more expensive than other places. Then my car broke last week, and thats when they tried to rip me off. The car didnt drive anymore, and they tell me I have to rebuild the entire transmission ($6,000). I sent the car to another garage, and it turns out the transmission was fine, only the shift selector had to be replaced ($1,000 with labor) --> thats a $5,000 difference!!!!So either their mechanics are not competent, or they deliberately tried to cheat on me.I wont be going back there.
Their guess repairs cost me unnecessary $ with no apology and issue was still not fixed.Several YouTube videos later i was able to fix the issue for less than a penny.I had an issue when my BMW 7 series turned off when coming to a stop and then it would not start back up until a few hours later (found out later this is a common issue.) I took it right away to this shop and was willingly to pay for their premium services. Several thousand $ later they did their recommended transmission services and they bascially replaced parts not related to the issue because there were other issues with the abs, dynamic drive, radio system, and speed sensors I knew of and again they were not related to the no start issue. A week later i took time off to go pickup the car they said was fixed, but it wouldnt even start, so i left it for them to look at it again. Another week later I called them and I decided to pick up my car and luckily it did start. Two days later there was the same no start issue and after searching youtube the issue was a bad solder joint on a control board that will show symptoms of failed parts like the crankcase position sensor they replaced. Its been several weeks later and there has been no issue. It only took me 20 mins and no extra $ or any parts, it was easy access to the board. This shop is good for replacing parts and doing oil changes, but for troublehooting I believe they are over their heads involving themselves with too many different car brands.
SO far they does GREAT WORK !!I have my car back with them for something else. Will UPDATE the service after work is completed.
Incredibly unprofessional and poor customer service. Basically did do deliver and did not do what they said theyre going to do. At the end they wouldnt return a simple phone call. Dont waste your time like I did.
This is almost as good as going to Stuttgart, Wolfsburg, or Bavaria for a repair. Very much recommend.
Professional down to Earth People that know what they are doing. A+ for every repair they did on my car.
The best shop in town for all your European automotive needs
I brought the vehicle for inspection, which was scheduled for 10am. I came back at 1pm, but no one looked at the car yet. I was forced to take it straight to Mercedes dealer. Very rude people on reception, poor customer service! Dont waste your time!
I was looking at purchasing a car from a local dealership in Houston, being that I am buying from out of state I was not able to physically inspect the car. Clint at TGA was wonderful to deal with over the phone. He squeezed the car in for an inspection and gave me a complete breakdown on the car. I could not be more impressed. Thanks TGA!
Friendly staff these people are professionals!
Expertise in German cars like no other
Good service
Very nice
