I did pick up at this location and Juan was absolutely amazing! He made sure I was aware of the changes made in my order and informed me of the new total amount. He even asked if I would like my trunk closed or open! Its these small details that really stand out when it comes to customer service. Well done Juan! Groceries were also well packed and I even got a substituted item that was better than the original pick. Thank you grocery store staff and Juan! I do wish there was a online tipping option for pick up orders, these people really deserve it especially at a time like this.
I have been shopping at this Kroger for nearly 10 years!!! It’s a family affair because my family members both shop here too and I used to manage a fantastic community nearby known as La Maison River Oaks, and this was our nearest Kroger store and I never heard any negative feedback from residents nor have I personally ever actually had even a single negative experience here. Each time the security guard greets everyone with smiles and everyone in the deli and bakery is always super helpful also in the meat/seafood departments and of course checkout is a breeze with all the added self-checkout counters so all around this is one of my absolute favorite grocery stores and being nestled in the beauty of Montrose/river Oaks/museum district is an added bonus.
Chris the cashier is rude, acts like he can’t speak or hear..the bagger Joshua is the same. Even the assistant supervisor April doesn’t seem to care about their poor customer service skills. No wonder they are going out of business. This store used to be awesome, it’s a shame.
This Kroger needs a new refrigeration system. Every time I get meat from here it’s sour and I end up sick. Also got some expired lunchables from here. Only positive is its quick if your in a rush.
A creepy security guard decided I was suspicious while I was waiting to file a workers comp request for my uncle, who is an employee at this location. I am not white. The security guard is white. I dont know why he selected me to harass, but even after explaining my reason for existing in his space, he decided to sit directly behind me, until the HR Manager I was waiting for came out with the paperwork I needed. He sat behind me for at least 15 minutes. He stared at me while I urged my uncle to leave with me. He seemed like he was itching for violence, and I think Kroger should look at his history.
This was a great store. For all its pluses and minuses, it had 24 hour, quick checkout, close parking. What took me 30 mins here, would be 1.5 hours at walmart. Great staff too, even dated one of the hottie cashiers. :DNow, its just an empty shell.Through thick and thin, Harvey, shutdowns and celebrations, this store and its people were always here for us, serving up what you needed for a birthday, christmas, vacation or a camping trip. This store had it all, and with friendly staff to boot. The homeless and people with substance abuse issues, were in this area due to several help centers just a block behind Kroger. Kroger cannot be faulted fot this. After/before their appts, they often went over to Kroger to shop and or wait for transportation home, or a later appt time. They put these centers in well to do areas, not the gutter. This is on purpose, as its hard to motivate anyone from the bottom.Seeing as many pointed this out; an alternate way to look at this, is to consider it a sign of privilege, that these centers are in your area. Atleast, these people are not hard to spot, compared to the average of disco Montrosians.
Second time I’ve had a bad curbside pickup experience. Both times after telling me they’d be out with my order, then waiting 20-30 minutes, they call and say there is a computer problem and can I wait another 20-30 minutes. H‑E‑B curbside pickup is so much more efficient. H‑E‑B also communicates prior to pickup to let you know if a product is unavailable or substituted. No such communication from Kroger.
One of their cashiers accused me of trying to take two boxes of water without paying, when in fact I was overpaying, I asked to speak to the manager and he never came, they never apologized, on the contrary they made fun of me.
So what happened to the original crew? I was in the store today (12/7/2020) and it looked as if the entire staff had changed. Even the security guard was gone, thats weird. This new staff were standing at the front of the store and omg, did I got the stares. In fact when walked out to my car one of the new employees appeared to be following me as she pushed the one cart outside behind me to restack it, really?I shop here regularly and if this happens again I will be calling corprate.
Today I had a very bad experience in that Kroger. I was using self-check out for my groceries but the machine did not recognize all the money that I inserted. Basically machine was showing less money than I paid.I called the cashier and told her what the problem was. She was so unprofessional and started kindly accusing me of telling lie. She kept telling me No sir, look at the check! Computer did not pick up money! Of course cashier check was showing less money than I paid.(But that was the problem itself) In the end they opened the machine and turned out that I was telling the truth. Nobody even bothered to apologize for inconvenience, I waited 1 hour flat for 2 bag groceies.IF you dont want to share the same experience with me, dont pay cash in self-checkout at this store.
LOVE this little Kroger. Wish it had organic new potatoes! Always reliable during panicky pandemic rushes.Update:The store manager is Top Notch and super friendly, helpful, supportive of the customer and totally ON it. I was in one day and asking a produce He gave me many reasons why they didnt carry them and she overheard the discussion, excused her interruption and asked how she could help. She Really listened and the next time I was in, there were organic new red potatoes! So thankful for her attention and delivering on her promise. Gratis.
Be careful of the police officer at the front of the door. I had a confrontation with the officer die to a new bagging policy in which you cannot bring your own bag into the store. I was not aware of this and when I walked by the cop, he did not inform me of the policy.I noticed him aggressively following me down the aisles and then he sternly told me that Im not allowed to bring a bag into the store. He did not acknowledge that I literally walked by him a few minutes prior without any incident. Then he kept scolding me that I was breaking store policy. While my life was not in danger it was not pleasant to have a police officer address me so condescendingly.
Was a great Kroger while it lasted. Will be missed by the community.
Pretty clean store although the isles have some cramped walkways that you have to squeeze though to get last people/stock. Also noticed one of the walls had a small crack in it but the overall store was nice and organized. Staff was very helpful.
One of the worst Krogers in Houston! Meat selection in the coolers is often terrible even on a Saturday after butcher is closed down. Steaks in the coolers often have gray tinge. This Kroger didnt use to be terrible. They need to redo the coolers or something and havent. Any Kroger nearby is night and day difference. This Kroger use to be acceptable. Seems they wont put anything into the place. I guess they want people in the neighborhood to head to HEB or drive further to another Kroger.
This place has the worst service i was buying 238$ worth of groceries and both the cashier and the bagger are throwing my items all over the place. First and last time here. I immediately canceled my debit card transaction and walked out! This is not the service you expect from krogers. This is sad. If you dont want this job, find another. Especially during this pandemic some dont have jobs. Do yours right!
Excellent Krogers Fresh Fare located in the Montrose. Its a smaller floor plan, but is well stocked with an eclectic mix of grocery items. Merchandise presentation is outstanding with items front faced on the shelves.Customer service is good. Store associates are friendly and helpful They have about half-dozen registers for self checkout. The fresh baked pizzas in the Deli department are excellent. A large pizza loaded with toppings is $11. One slice, which is a fourth of the large pizza, is $3. One slice for me makes meal. 😉
Has almost everything i need every time. Not nuts about the self check out. Great produce dept. And the tiny pharmacy is surprisingly prepared. The store is small so can whip around it and get out quickly. The staff work hard, be kind to them.
Great store! Good selection and reasonable prices. Staff have always been friendly and helpful! They also have a decent selection of local stuff. I’d really like to see more efforts to reduce single use plastic wrapping... a bigger bulk section (and maybe even a system to allow people to bring their own containers!), no apples or potatoes in plastic, etc.
Great neighborhood store and the staff can help if you dont speak English
@#$%#@ its closed i cant wait here an hour other than that love the place
Christine over at Curbside is AMAZING! I’ve done Kroger Curbside Pickup at the Studemont location (so-so), Shepard (takes foreverrrr), W 43rd (don’t go to that location) and the curbside service at this Kroger on Montrose is BY FAR the best one!! I will gladly drive a few extra minutes for better service (I live down the street from the Studemont kroger but this one is that much better) Not only do they actually read your item’s additional notes, they’re a lot quicker, communicate, and are SO much friendlier. Christine helped me out the last 3 times I’ve picked up from here and she really is wonderful. Thank you so much Christine!
We shop here often and usually no complaints, except about panhandlers hanging around parking lot. It is a smaller store, but usually well stocked. But yesterday (4/3) during early afternoon hours it was overcrowded...and no sanitizer or wipes were available for cleaning hands/carts. Six ft. social distancing was not being adhered to. HEB, Costco, Trader Joe’s all limit # of customers in store, have stricter rules, and wipe everything down frequently. I was really surprised and disappointed that similar measures weren’t in place at the Montrose Kroger. I especially feel sorry for their employees.
The place is clean and has friendly employees. They always have fresh produce and a great deli selection. They usually have a great meat and seafood department, but last time I wad at the store, flies were all around and on the seafood. 😝 yuck
The store is in its final days, apparently the casualty of a redevelopment of the Montrose/Westheimer block.
One of the few 24-hour grocery stores left. They have a great selection on most things and their bakery is terrific. The prices at Kroger tend to be a little higher than HEB, but of course far cheaper than Randalls. Check out the discount meats section, as well. You can often find some really good deals there.
I love this location! The employees here are beyond friendly to me and my entire family. I love the lay out of the store. The produce department is on point always. I am a sucker for the manager special meats and pastries. I always leave this store feeling happy. Kroger is the best!
They have a history of stealing things left behind by customers. This includes wallets, cell phones, tablets, etc. When asked about where they are despite being tracked by GPS and knowing where they are, they always come up with some excuse as to why they cant find it or theyll outright lie and tell you it isnt there. If you leave anything there, be sure you have the police ready to be called. I know, it shouldnt be necessary to do this, but this is what it will take. One of the managers is also rude and refuses to answer questions about anything.
Nice Kroger with a pretty big selection of fresh organic produce and most other grocery items. They have a good selection of health food items, gluten free food, various types of milk, frozen meals, etc. Itd be a five star if they had more organic frozen fruits and vegetables. Staff is friendly and efficient.
I love this place. I can shop in peace and get what I need. This place always has a great cashier, never in a bad mood. Love the environment. It gets packed sometimes, but I usually avoid the crowd.
I used to come here because it was one of the few grocery stores that still has a salad bar but after seeing people eat off the salad bar as if it was a buffet using their bare hands in the food, I no longer go here for their salad bar. Ill make a quick stop in for an item or two but its not my regular grocery store. It is nice to have a grocery store near my residence though.
I love the way the store is set. Its easy to find what you need. The employees are super friendly. I love the bargains they have in buying five items.
When I am hungry for a cheap lunch, I would come here for bargains and eat them upstairs... $1 keurig coffee, $3 slice of pizza, $1.69 salad box on sale, $1.99 box of old chocolate cookies. Or, an $8.99 box of salmon Poke! Otherwise, its a nice place to buy my groceries. Hihi.
I traveled from so far away just the sandwiches Isabel makes, she is the most wonderful person in the store. She is the kindest worker, always smiling, never in stress. Congrats for this amazing lady you have in there.
Nicw store. Very clean and fully stocked. The employees are very helpful One of the Asst. Managers even helped me at the self checkout and rung my groceries for me. That was over and beyond. Grateful!
Excellent customer service. Very helpful throughout the isle. Has the best customer service I have seen. I felt as thou I was special with all my request.
Not a place I frequent alot. Curbside only.
The store is decent. Smaller than many other Kroger’s. The thing that really sucks is the amount of bums begging for money and the ones that sleep in the restroom! There’s nothing more conducive to a pleasant shopping experience than the stink of homeless people while trying to use the urinal.
Whole Foods is a great local market in Pac Heights area. We have food delivered from there and, or shop there. They always have Marys free range chicken and great fish and seafood selection. We have been shopping here for at least seven years now. They are on the privy side but its worth it!
Convenient, kinda shady, although it has gotten better. Great selection.
I really like the managers specials on meats here. Overall the store is nice, clean and the staff are good. Also I can find things here that I dont normally encounter at my other usual grocery stores.
I accidently left my phone here at self checkout once and didnt realize it until 5-10 minutes after I left. I tracked my phone to still be back here. I had called them before coming back to ask them if they found it and they said no. Afterwards, I check the phone tracker again and it still said it was at kroger, so i went back to them. In person, I asked them if they found it and they said no. Using the Find My Device feature, I forced my phone to lock and ring continuously. The guy at the self check out said that I had to file a police report for them to do anything so thats what I did. Seeing that I initially went to the store around 8 or 9pm, i was on a time limit to finding my phone before they close the store. I ended up filing a police report (which they never showed up. suprise suprise, right?) It was maybe 10 minutes before they close and we looked all over the store everywhere we could and at the very end, we could faintly hear my phone ringing off into the distance. It was in the customer service drawer locked up. I was furious. Not only did they lie to me about not finding the phone, forced me to file a police report, had me running around for 4 damn hours, RUINED MY ENTIRE EVENING PLANS, but when the manager FINALLY came out to unlock the drawer, she said that we should have contacted her instead to check the customer service drawer. Which is absolute bull because if I asked several employees and supervisors about the whereabouts of my phone and they all say they never saw it, how am I supposed to know to ask for the store manager(who apparently is the only one in the whole store to have the keys to the drawer) when everyone is out right stealing property and making me go through hoops. If the store manager was in her office this whole time, WHICH EMPLOYEE WAS THE ONE THAT GAVE HER THE PHONE TO PUT INTO THE DRAWER AND WHY DID THEY LIE ABOUT IT? Thats right, theft. Plain and simple. They will feel no shame whatsoever on stealing your stuff and never owning up to it. If you come to this grocery store, keep your belongings safe and close. That or just dont come here at all.
Excellent customer service. Very helpful throughout the isle. Deli service has the best customer service I have seen. I felt as thou I was special with all my request.
The only thing that’s great about this Kroger is the few select employees who have been working there for years and their great customer service. It gets a horrible rating because the management is horrible, there is a very high turnover rate of employees, they never take recommendations for products and every employee looks angry and on edge to the point where they don’t want to be there, hence the high turnover rate of people always quitting. Went there the other day to put money on my bus card only to find out it was broken which tends to happen a lot at this store. Go to your local HEB or another Kroger, not this Kroger.
Still my fave Kroger. Easy to get around, not too big, not too small of a store. Just right.
This is one of the rare 24 hour Krogers. It is a basic Kroger but it has a bakery/deli and the staff are very friendly. It is well stocked and the parking lot is large. I shop at this store often, I get in and out without long lines or huge crowds.
Excellent. Five stars. I Iive in the inner city so there are several high quality grocery stores nearby; however, I frequent Krogers almost exclusively. Good service, fresh, fresh fruits and veggies, great eggs; attentive personnel. Robin Smith, Robins Nest, Bed and Breakfast Inn
Best Kroger in the city. :) Good people and a great selection of food, stuff you wont find in other grocery stores. Dont think Ive ever had a problem here.
This Kroger is small but packed with all the essentials. Our favorite part is the fresh options available here. It has the feel of a small upscale corner grocery but with comparative pricing.
This is my regular store. Usually a great place. After the hurricane the corporate side is struggling to get products back in the store. Just in time delivery, centerized distribution and keeping inventory low is good for the bottom line but not the customer experience.
Smaller store than up on Studemont, 11th, or 43rd, but the food quality is good, the store is clean, and the selection is more than adequate for my needs. Staff is more attentive and friendly than at any other location Ive been to in Houston.. My only complaint is that the frozen items, like pizza, have frost on them sometimes, and the yogurt multipacks have condensation on them to the point where the box is kind of soggy. This makes me wonder about the refrigeration/freezing system. But my food hasnt been spoiled, so its not that big of a deal. Tip- check out the discounted floral. They often have half price on bouquets that still have a lot of life left.
Like the layout of store. Products are easy to find . Like convenient 24 hour store hours.Staff member are friendly and courteous. Frequent this store often and highly recommend to friends and family.
I shop here daily. The store is always clean and the staff friendly. Prices are competitive, especially with a Kroger card. Managers specials rock but go quickly.
Absolutely the best grocery store. I love shopping here. Great price, good variety, very friendly staffs.
It seems that when someone agrees with everything, but decides to lie about the facts because of not knowing a situation, that the appropriate answer should be Prayer. Simple and what the USA is about. Immigration Reform Mandate or Permanent Removal from all JW platforms.
A neighborhood staple. Been in the Montrose for many years, known for its warm staff and consistency in great service. Definitely the grocery store thats synonymous with the Montrose area.
The disco kroger never fails to provide sustenance and excitement! When you ring the bell at checkout, everyone starts clapping! It keeps everyone happy! Ring that Bell!
OMG how I miss this store. I used to visit it almost daily, while I was in Houston, only a few months back.It is clean, organized and their aisles are well kept. From their fresh grocery items to their small medicine counter.Staff is very helpful.Keep it up.
Usually I dont buy Kroger brand. they lack quality. I like small Kroger by westheimer they offer others brand also the produce is well kept. the bakery is awful. Houston has excellent bakeries do thats were I shop for bread and sweets.
Montrose Kroger just has a great aura. People are mellow. Though sure would like them to carry the Kroger brand Pinapple Coconut Frozen Yogurt. Have asked them to but they say they dont have enough room.
Best local grocery store Ive found while staying in this area of Houston for my loves cancer treatment. Decent prices, clean. Floral area, bakery, deli has Boars Head cold cuts!
Kroger on Montrose and Hawthorne has friendly employees and a calm atmosphere especially for a grocery store. The store and their products are enough to accomplish your weekly needs without being overwhelming in size and content.
One thing about this Kroger besides a very nice clean store and great staff, you never know what your going to see in that store. Located on Montrose about two blocks south of Westhiemer, you will see all types and a variety of people there, if you like to people watch, thats the place !!!! Never boring all walks of life. I wouldnt have it another way !!!
Nice place and large product selection with the exception of produce.Thank you people, you do a great job!
Brisket was huge buy to good of price per pound to pass up. 1.99lb.
Solid lunch special. In town for the holiday, and getting some good Lebanese food was a top priority while in the area. Between us, we had the hummus and chicken and the boneless (deboned) chicken. Both were very good. We also got a small order of garlic paste, which was some of the best weve had. As others have said, the portions are large - we could have easily split a lunch special between the two of us and had plenty to eat. As it is, we have some great leftovers! A great find thanks to Yelp.
Kroger is the best. Theyre always friendly and attentive. If you want, you can literally call them to check if the item you want is in stock and they will text you pictures of the item so you know exactly how many they have left and what type/flavors.
Money center closed because employee went on break during operating hours. No one replaced them. Stood in line for 30 mins as other employees walked pass the numerous people in line. Point is, not a very reliable option to shop. The service was trash.
There are 2 cashiers at the courtesy booth who are ABSOLUTELY RUDE!! I typically go in the mornings and theyre always hiding in the back or somewhere else and Id have to say hello?? just for someone to come out. One of the cashiers is a Hispanic lady with a long ponytail and glasses who seemed to be upset that I asked one of the other workers to call for someone to come to the desk. And just this morning a young black lady was in the back picking her nails and when I said hello?? she took her time coming out. Then she had a stank look on her face like she didnt want to be bothered. I have absolutely no time for rude people. None of them want to be bothered yet when I get there, its the beginning of the day and theres never a crowd. Only once has there been a nice person there - a young black guy - but I havent seen him in a while. Ill just go elsewhere.
They have a quiet cafe seating area on the second floor, with electrical outlets, and wifi! And you can eat and study.
The management and staff are far and above the norm. This store contributes to the community in a big way, often keeping small organizations afloat. The produce is fresh and I love that they stock the donut peaches my family adores. They always have enough checkers to get me in and out quickly and I like that theyre open late.
This is one of our 2 main places for groceries. I love that they have a discounted section for meat and baked goods, I almost always pick something up their. I like their produce more than their meat selection.
What do you want....its Kroger. Hit or miss with the staff. Either really friendly and helpful or indifferent. Produce either fresh or bruised. Tight in the aisles, forget going down one if there is a family of four standing there. Upside, plenty of good buys throughout the store.
I generally like this store. My only real complaint is that the produce isnt stocked well enough half of the time and you can look through lots of subpar veggies and fruit. Selection is pretty decent and the service is amazing.
Has a problem with homeless people in the parking lot but the hot foods here are pretty good and it’s convenient for me.
Disco Kroger always has a nice selection of groceries. And you get the bonus of seeing the colorful local Montrose denizens.
Convenient and good section. Staff are familiar faces. Disco Kroger is my almost daily source for food.
We found everything we needed. The cashier was very nice. Store was clean and well layed out. I will be shopping here more.
This is a smaller Kroger location, but while compact still has a reasonably good selection and its easy to get in and out quickly. My only complaint is that they dont have enough registers open other than express.
Love the gay kroger... But, Im a night owl and as such I do my grocery shopping at 1am (much easier that way). What I hate is that the security guards will all but stalk me around the entire store as if Im trying to steal food. IF YOU DONT WANT CUSTOMERS SHOPPING AT 1AM THEN DONT BE OPEN AT 1AM!
Great for things needed in a pinch. Good staff and clean. Always in and out quickly even at peak times,......
My rating is based on their policy towards bicycles inside their store. This is the only location in this area that prohibits bicycles being parked inside while you are shopping. Which wouldnt be so bad if the bike rack that was provided wasnt so shoddy to the point that thieves can literally take it apart and steal your locked bike while inside. These thefts are documented on Facebook. Kroger does not seem to care. Its not like there are people constantly trying to bring bikes inside either. Get over yourselves Kroger. Youre competitors choose to NOT ruin the customer experience which is why their parking lots are full and yours are littered with refuse from transients
Love this store always sales and vegetables look good and a wide variety of meat selections. They usually have some items of chicken or beef on sale. I got NY Strip steaks $10 off original price. Greats deals!
Famously, know as DISCO KROGERS!Staff is great but store NEED A MAJOR RENOVATION.The US NOT A STARBUCKS NOR FUEL SERVICE AS THIS LOCATION.This store is open 24/7/365
Very nice store but didnt have what I needed.
Good food. Fresh options. Efficient checkout process. Welcome to Disco Kroger!
I recently went to this Kroger and bought a few items but when I got home the fruit was not in my bag. I called and spoke with Adrian who was wonderful! He told me he would not be there later on but to go back in, pick up my items and tell them Adrian said it was okay. I of course was very skeptical that someone would just let me walk out without paying. I went back around 9pm picked up the items, went to the cashier and told them Adrian said it was okay and there was no problem at all, didnt even need to check my receipt. Needless to say I was very impressed with this Kroger. Thanks Adrian!
Its my favorite place to do night time shopping after clubs. I also like the daytime crew. Customers are friendlier here than the Kroger store I frequent in Westchase.
I enjoyed my visit to Krogers, all the employees were friendly and helped me to check-out in a timely and cautious fashion. The items were attacked neatly on the shelves. It is the very definition of customer service.
One of the worst Krogers Ive ever been to. Rude checkout lady. Checkout lady made my mom, who is handicap, deaf, and dealing with cancer. They made us leave the opening line to help with a person with a cart full of groceries and beer. We were there to get my grandpa who is 90 years old something you eat. Next time Ill just take my business elsewhere. Watch out for the skinny old lady with pulled back silver hair. Stay clear from her, or feel her wrath....!
Ive been to some really nice Krogers, this one okay. The deli was great. I ordered a spinach wrap and it was made in front of me and meat was cut in front of me as well. The wrap was only $4.99, and it was a nice size. I prefer Kroger over Randalls any day.
Disco Krogers!!! My favorite K-Rogers of H-Town. Pro-tip, their sushi is better than most restaurants, and there is an upstairs dinning area. You can also get colossal custom made sub sandwiches at the deli counter at a bargain. Doge says, So Fresh! Amazing value! Ahhh. Mmm.
GREAT store! Always clean. Friendly staff. Fresh produce and meat.
Thank u to lucy in the bakery! She did an amazing job on a graduation cake that I didnt order in adavance. Martha and her went above and beyond to decorate and add the accessories to make it look good! Thank u so much!
Received great personal customer service by the store manager of this chain. The store is kept clean and organized. Overall, good experience.
