Great selection of products, poor customer service. Ive shopped here a few times, and I can sum up all my visits with todays experience: I attempted to purchase a single item for $2.70. When ringing me up, the owner said she gets charged $3 per card transaction, and asked if I had cash instead. I didnt (COVID), so the owner told me she doesnt want continue, and refused to sell me the item.Basically, I went into Uncommon Scents to buy something, found what I was looking for, attempted to pay for it, and the owner refused to sell me over 30 cents.Bonus review: They are STRICT mask enforcers, which is fine. I witnessed them get on a child for a missing mask, but when I attempted to buy my item, neither the owner or the staff was wearing one.
Plenty of fan gear and garden flags that my wife loves. Little hard to move around without bumping into merchandise. Good store.
It pains me to write this review, as Ive been here several times over the past few years, as a person who lives in the area, most times shopping for gifts for other people. So I should at least acknowledge the fact that there are some good aspects of this store in that they carry a diverse and fully stocked selection of quality collegiate related gifts and decorative items. While I understand that having a small store with many fragile or breakable items would cause shopkeepers to become critical of customers and advice caution, it is not an excuse to act rude. I have worked in the service industry and understand the stress it can cause, so the idea that an employee may have a bad day or week is understandable as well. However, neither of those reasons are good enough to explain the multiple incidents in which I have received less than ideal customer service.Employees have scolded customers simply for browsing, often stock items in a messy and disorganized manner, and quite simply have acted rude towards me in almost all of the times Ive shopped there. One woman who works there has also followed my cousin around as if she was suspicious! They also falsely accused someone I knew of stealing even though there was clear evidence to the contrary and almost went through her purse, even when she offered to talk to police about the issue. In conclusion, these issues go above and beyond simply employees being lazy or rude, as that would be different. Instead, they actually put effort into making customers feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. The only draw of the store is that they are a local dealer for Tervis cups and college merchandise. If I could give less than one star I would.
This is unfortunate because it seemed like the store had some cute things, but like many others have said, the customer service is bad. Upon entering, I was asked if I need an umbrella stroller because I had my one year old with me. I declined and the associate then told me how I should take it because it fosters independence. After that she proceeded to tell me that I should remove the headband from my daughters head because she didn’t like it. First off, I was planning on having her walk with me around the store and second off she was in a pleasant mood and loves her headbands. I left shortly after because I didn’t feel welcomed. Don’t think I’ll be back.
The owner is very personable and does a beautiful job gift wrapping the item you purchase for a small additional charge. You can choose a wicker basket or gift bag that she then finishes with tissue paper and ribbon. I found a cute and humorous candle that said sitter on it for my babysitter, some adorable long cozy socks with moose on them, and a moisturing salve for these winter days. All these items were on sale and totaled $33 including the gift wrap fee. Love to support this small business!!
Great place to shop for very unusual itemsThe owner is terrific and goes above and beyond for customers.I recently was trying to purchase my favorite Airome diffuser oil. Scentb currently out of stock but, the owner gave me her bottle from home!Fantastic customer service!
Great place to pick up an interesting knickknack or a sports-oriented gift. The lady working there was lovely, and she even offered to wrap a present I bought while I was still looking around. The selection is very eclectic. They have beautiful jewelry and bracelets, mugs, women’s shoes and shirts, stuffed animals, candles, and all kinds of collegiate and professional sports goodies! The people leaving bad reviews for this store because they require a face mask during a worldwide pandemic should feel awful. Why disparage a small business owner for trying to keep themselves and others from becoming ill or worse? They sell masks for $.75 or a dollar, so you could easily purchase one and then have it for emergencies in your car. You speak of her intolerance while being completely intolerant yourselves. It is a common scientific fact that masks reduce transmission of diseases, which is why doctors and nurses have been wearing them for decades. Scientists landed a spacecraft on a proverbial dime on a planet 40,000,000 miles from Earth while it was rotating more than 539 mph. Fear has nothing to do with trusting them on this mask-wearing stuff. Next are you going to mock somebody for wearing a seatbelt?
I really enjoyed this store with its cute and fun products. It has become my go to place for flags and special occasion gifts. Yesterday, we went and were greeted with a wear your mask sign. I think it’s a complete joke to require people to wear something that may or may not protect them or others from something. The particles of the virus are so minuscule that the masks most people are wearing will not be beneficial. It’s just for the sheeple who are succumbing to the hysteria of being “protected.” The government screwed Over the small businesses while allowing the big box stores to reap the revenue. Now you have the small businesses limiting who may want to come into their store and give them money! I don’t get it! I do agree that the owner likes to follow people around. I haven’t found her rude though. I wish her luck. As long as the fearful carbon dioxide breathing mask wearers outnumber the non-fearful unfiltered oxygen breathers, this store should be just fine!
Love this shop! It has a little of everything. Great gifts. Shop local!
I used to shop here when I lived in NC. and always loved the customer service and whatever I bought. I currently live in Ohio and needed something for a funeral of a dear friend. The florist Bells & Blooms didnt have what I wanted and suggested I call Uncommon Scents. I did and spoke with the owner Connie who had what I wanted. She not only had it but wrapped it and delivered it. Now people, thats customer service. Support local businesss. The other thing that was great was to have one business suggest another. Love me some Southern Hospitality. Thanks again Connie
Over priced and over crowded. They have EVERYTHING and its overwhelming. But it a nice when looking for a special something for someone..
Friendly staff lots of options for Christmas gifts for my wife. Bought her a pair of really warm socks, a Charlotte themed Christmas candle, and a Tervis coffee mug.We have also bought a few collegiate flags here over the years.
From my most recent visit, I can tell the owner of the store is trying to rebrand her attitude. I think she is starting to take these reviews to heart and it showed when I shopped there. I must agree that, in the past, she hasn’t been the most friendly. However, my most recent visit was much more pleasant. I had a lovely shopping experience and really do enjoy the inventory this store has- very cute and unique. Also, the other woman working at the store was as sweet as can be.
I love this store and the employees are Usually helpful and sweet. The owner always seems to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed and has an attitude... every time, without fail. I would shop more if someone else owned it.
I saw that they were selling kids masks and brought my daughter whose mask had just broken. She did not have one on, and it is clearly stated on the door people can only enter wearing a mask, so the owner came outside with a variety for her to choose from. Super cute options for kids and my daughter was actually excited about wearing her mask afterwards.
I want to like this store so much. They have adorable items and the prices arent bad. I love to support local businesses. Unfortunately, every time I go in here it just feels like you arent welcome to shop. The owner follows you around, especially if your kids are in tow, and it makes it very uncomfortable to browse.
UNCOMMON SCENTS NOT A GOOD CHOICE FOR GIFTS!!! For anyone local to Cornelius or shopping for a gift for someone......just wanted to let you know that if you are planning to purchase anything from Uncommon Scents, rethink that choice. They have a no-return or exchange policy. I along with my sister-in-law received a gift from our mother that was purchased from Uncommon Scents. The item doesn’t fit me or my sister-in-law. Because we are past the 7 day purchase date, they will not allow us to return or exchange the item for anything else. I think this return policy is set on purpose, because people get so busy, and can’t get back to the store within 7 days the store can clear out inventory at the expense of their customers being unhappy with an item they don’t want or doesn’t fit. So my mother is out $118.41 and we have two of these Lizzy James necklace/bracelet things that look terrible on as a necklace and are too small as a bracelet. Even the salesperson at the store tried to put the bracelet on me and could clearly see that it was so small(and I have a very small wrist) it was cutting into my wrist. After only a few minutes of putting the bracelet on, you can clearly see the lines where the bracelet is cutting into my wrist. I was happy to exchange the item for something else in the store and I had the original receipt, but still they refused to exchange the item. This shows me what kind of business they run there. So I will make sure that I do not do business with them and I will make sure that everyone I know, sees how unprofessional they are and how they treat their customers or should I say “previous customers”.
Have spent quite a bit of money in this store as they are one of a few that carries UGA products. Went into day and was told I had to leave because I did not have a mask on.I understand that everyone has fears but I dont and felt disgrimated against because I have not had enough factual information to believe mask do any good preventing spread of virus. If you dont want my money anymore because of your fear that is fine many other places that are not living in fear and will take my money.
The owner is not the most pleasant person, but every employee I have talked to is very nice. The dogs in the store are small but aggressive. They will jump and bark at you. Expensive gifts and again, rude customer service from the owner. Poppies and The Village store are best for all your gift-finding needs.
I WILL NEVER return to this store again. Never have I witnessed such awful customer service by specifically the owner herself - supposedly Connie. My mom, mother in law, and I went in for fun and shortly regretted it. As we were standing in line behind another customer the owner asked in a very rude tone “can I help you?” .... we told her yes we’re in line to check out. When we finally do, my mom asks to double check the sale price on two leggings and the owner says “no mam’ these are not socks they’re leggings” and then shows us the price on the tag as if we couldn’t read it or as if we didn’t know the difference between socks and leggings. Then we asked for her to put everything in two bags instead of one because she overstuffed the bag and almost broke our merchandise, and she says “sale items only get one bag” ..... ???? What does it being on sale have anything to do with the number of bags? So I decide to purchase an item so that we can get an additional bag, as a separate purchase, and she STILL refuses to give me my own bag, since my mom already had one. She physically took the leggings out of my hand and shoved it into my moms bag... I was beside myself. Needless to say somehow we finally got a second bag. Oh and I’m not even mentioning the fact that she was wearing a Santa outfit when really what she should have dressed as was the Grinch. STAY AWAY.....Uncommon Scents, more like Uncommon Customer Service.
I’ve been in the store at least 3 times in the past few weeks buying graduation gifts and had a great experience each time. Very cute items and they do a beautiful job gift wrapping. The women working there were quite pleasant and helpful.
Uncommon Scents is a shop full of treasures. Its been my go to place for unique gifts for three years now. The owner is always super helpful and polite to us and remembers my children each time. My two love visiting the pups that are sometimes in the store. If you are looking for hand picked items that are unique and beautiful for those you love - Uncommon Scents is the place for you.
Wish I would have saw the reviews before I went in here. Went in with my baby in a stroller and diaper bag. Saw the direct note on door about bags being collected while shopping so I voluntarily tried to hand over my diaper bag when I came in. Connie then told me I didn’t have to as it was the “minority” that is the problem. She went further to tell about two girls that shoplifted from her this week. Regrettably I still stayed after such an awkward welcome and found it was difficult to navigate her store due to its unorganized and cluttered nature. I came around to the front and the diaper bag behind me (which she didn’t take because I guess I am not in the minority) hit her shelf and knocked it over. The merchandise didn’t break but four small glass shelves on a display did. She just told me how expensive the display was and didn’t ask about if my baby was okay. I offered to pay what I broke and she charged me for her shelves which I paid because I recognize I broke them accidental due to a poor layout. The shelves are directly in front of the main entrance. Obviously the bottom line is Connie cares more about money than being a good person. For $50 she lost a customer for life and could only tell me about her $5,000 deductible While my baby is crying from the incident. Seems like most people would be more concerned to ask about my baby in the stroller who was near broken glass. So sad. This experience causes me to reconsider shopping in local stores and go to Amazon. At least Amazon takes returns. Disappointing.
Came to the store today to buy some Atlanta Braves items. There were signs for 50% off on certain sporting items so I wanted to see if this particular item was on sale as well. I asked an associate who went to check. As I was waiting the owner cameUp. I asked her the same question. She told me the area I pulled the item from was the “baseball section “ which didn’t really answer my question. When I asked again she took the item out of my hands put it back on the shelf and rudely said “no”. I walked away as clearly there was no communicating with the owner. I still bought a few things and when my husband and I were checking out I stated to the owner that before she treated me so rudely and took the item away from me I was still planning on buying it regardless of the price. I also said she came across as quite rude. She told me that she was “kindly assisting” and answered all my questions. I then reiterated that she didn’t answer my question and just took the product out Of myHands without asking if I still wanted it. Her response was “well I guess I can do nothing right, I’m wrong”. NO APOLOGY!!!!!!! Proceeded to ignore me and only speak to my husband in a very condescending tone. Not making any eye contact with me. Unfortunate for her, every visitor we have ever had in NC we bring to her store. NO LONGER. Clearly by all the other google reviews there is an issue. And it is this woman. I was just hoping she would look at how she treated people and maybe change some things considering she is a local business owner. But clearly she isn’t that introspective. Thank goodness there are other gift shops around town with friendly staff and kind owners. I will tell everyone what a horrible place this is and how terrible she treats her staff and paying customers. If only there was a negative star option.
I received several items from this establishment from my twin sons on Mothers Day 2020. One of the items was a tumbler with a straw. I was very pleased and appreciative that they took the time and effort to pick this out for me! Later that day I opened the cup to wash it for the first time and realized that the straw was broken. I mentioned it to my sons and they advised me that they had the receipt, but that I should be able to exchange it without one.A few days later I went to the store with cup and broken straw in hand in an attempt to either exchange the item for another one, or just get a new straw. I spoke to the sales associate on duty named Susan. She took the cup, opened & inspected it and her first response was this did not leave the store like this...we open all the cups before we sell them and would have noticed this. So she basically was accusing me or my sons of breaking the straw and then trying to return it. I assured her this was not the case. While we were having the discussion, another customer walked in and rudely interrupted us with a question about masks. Susan then rudely ignored me and helped the other customer despite the fact that I was clearly there first. After a few minutes I spoke up and asked: so you are saying that you refuse to exchange the item or provide me with a new straw?, she responded with a rude yes and repeated her suspicion about what had happened...that I broke the straw.Okay guys, I realize that it is just a cup, but its the principle of the matter! What happened to customer service and the belief that the customer is always right??? You know she could have returned the cup to the manufacturer as a damaged item.Needless to say, I expressed my dissatisfaction with her response and lack of customer service skills, and finished by adding that I would never be back to shop at the store again! I then obtained her name. She is not the owner, btw! According to the internet, the establishment is owned by Connye C. Connye. I have no idea if this is truly a persons name or what, but note to the owner: FIRE Susan!! If I owned an establishment, I certainly would not want her representing it!!!PS: I later spoke to my sons who verified that Susan, was not the associate that checked them out when purchasing the cup. Susan is an older white female and they were checked out by a younger black female. How in the world would Susan know what the other associate did? Perhaps she forgot to open & examine the cup!
I love this store, but unfortunately customer service needs a little help. I am shocked how the owner or manager talks to customers and her employees. It made me uncomfortable and sad. I will go to my other favorite stores Sweet Magnolia and Poppies.
I have never had anyone be so rude to me in my entire life, the older lady here is extremely rude with a smile on her face, if you want good friendly service you might wanna catch the younger lady or go elsewhere, I have never, ever had someone be so rude, i kept it professional, but I wouldnt wanna see her off duty.... rudeness is very unacceptable when you are in customer service
Excellent selection of interesting quality gifts for almost any occasion. Owner is an exquisitely delightful who makes you feel welcome and can easily point you in the right direction!!!I give them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Horrible customer service especially from the owner herself. The girl that was helping my wife was so helpful and accommodating but the owner chimed in an reprimanded the employee right in front of my wife and would not stop her senseless banter. My wife actually left the store and found what she needed from another store and then returned what she bought cause she was so disrespectful to her employee. It’s a shame to treat people like that and especially her employees. We will not shop there again.
Loved the store! So many great gift ideas! I found the perfect gift for my husband but it wasnt in stock, the owner ordered it for me and rushed it so Id have it in time for Fathers Day. Then she called to follow up with me. Over and above customer service. Ill definitely be back.
We arrived tonight at the store 15 minutes before closing. The two ladies working immediately greeted us to inform us the store would be closing soon. My 10 year old daughter wanted a charm for her bracelet and when she could not get the bracelet open to see her charm on there the lady snatched the bracelet from my daughter rushing her letting her know she needed to hurry since they were closing. This is not the first time the people here have been rude and disrespectful. Your business should realize that the customer comes first and your company is making money off the customer that loves shopping there. The only reason I even gave one star is because of the items in your store and not because of the unfriendly employees
I bought a water bottle for my moms birthday - apparently it leaked on her so she just tried to return it herself - they said they had to have the receipt. I picked up the water bottle today to return it with the receipt - it had a missing gasket that they basically said she put it in the dishwasher and lost it. Plus they said it was after the 7 days on the receipt. They really at that point didn’t want to talk to me. Told me I could call the company and maybe i could get one. Bottom line - when my mom notified me of the problem barely 7 days had past and now I am at day 13. I didn’t even want my money back - just a non defective product. My mom didn’t even get yo use it one time. I won’t ever go in there again. Talk about no customer service. I was appalled at the attitude. Don’t buy ahead there and the product be wrong. Wish I’d read reviews first - appears I’m not the only!!!
Whew. So today, I go in this place...and as I am walking around (tiny store, tiny walk areas), I realize a woman is walking toward me and I go to move out of the way. Instead of her also stepping around me she proceeds to put her hands on the sides of my arms and MOVES ME out of her way. She does not look at me as she does this, she does not say excuse me, she is a grown woman dressed in a Christmas onesie or Christmas red pajamas (not sure which). I could not even react because I knew I was going to flip out if I said anything...and I wasnt positive it was an employee. However, after reading reviews and looking at pictures...Im 95% sure this was the owner/manager. Lady- if youre reading this- that constitutes as assault. Luckily, Im not that petty and I was not injured, and I held my composure. I would recommend not ever touching a stranger. I could have been injured, or had a disease, or had space issues. Its just not smart. Its incredibly rude, and honestly it could be criminal depending on the situation. I would recommend everyone steer clear of this store based on this experience and all the other accurate reviews of the horrid service.
My daughter was given a Simply Southern T-shirt from this store that was wrapped in their paper with an “Uncommon Scents” sticker on it. Yet the store would not exchange it for a bigger size without a gift receipt and actually told me to ask the person that gave it to her for the receipt. When I refused and said that was so rude then they suggested that I regift the item! I will NEVER shop in this store again and I suggest you don’t either!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like all the previous comments the owner needs to learn customer service. When we asked if there is a public restroom she rudely went in a rant of how by law she doesnt require to have one and that it was a MAN that messed up that privilege. I understand a $1,200 fix is a lot to a local business, but what helps you pay for the rent, electricity, and fixes like that is your customers who want to support local business but wont due to your rudeness. I will rather make the trip to Mooresville in 5 oclock traffic for my college sports needs then the maybe 5 minute drive to your place.
A great store, if you do not have the misfortune of crossing paths with the owner. I was browsing in the store and one of the employees informed me of a open house sale (certain % off one item)the following week. I returned for the sale and I was standing in line to check out. The owner was marching around announcing to everyone to have their coupons out and ready. I wasn’t aware that I needed a coupon-I explained to the owner that I was informed about the sale, but was never given a coupon. She smirked at me and said “Well then you don’t get the discount” she seems to enjoy being unpleasant. I have not stepped foot in the store since. I left a similar review to this one on the stores Facebook page and it was deleted.
The owner of this store is the rudest person that we have ever met. She argued with my wife about her ridiculous return policy of an item purchased 5 days before Christmas. We have informed all our friends about the lack of professionalism of this owner.DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH THIS NASTY PERSON!!!!
I visited this store yesterday and found exactly what I was looking for, and at a good price. So it should have been a positive experience, but it wasnt. I decided to look around a little more, and kept getting cornered by a woman who works there who was really pushy and a little rude. She kept insisting I try on items that I wasnt interested in (like literally tossing a scarf around my neck), and then acting annoyed when I didnt want them. I was relieved to get out of there with my one small purchase. After reading the rest of the reviews on here, I think I must have been dealing with the owner. Ill be avoiding this place in the future, which is too bad, because it was a pretty interesting store and the other employees seemed perfectly nice.
So good to see a friendly place. I was visiting in Huntersville for the weekend and stumbled upon this familiar place that originated in my hometown area. Though I was in a hurry to get back home, I didnt have much time to browse so I will be back when I have more time. Such cute things, I saw a hint of Christmas presents. Connie (which somehow I remembered her name) and her employee were extremely accomodating! Thanks guys!
Great selection, awesome free gift wrapping. Thank you, Uncommon Scents!
Very Rude staff. Even though convenient I will take my business elsewhere. It’s disappointing but I can find the same items at another shop or online with people who are happy to have me shopping with their business. Almost made me want to return every item on the 7th day!
I love this shop! I can always find something I like & they usually have something different that I didnt know I needed. Ive found the staff to be friendly & helpful even during busy times. Ive shopped here for the past 18 years & its the gift shop I go to first.
Nice selection and good prices!
I would not advise shopping here, I never will again. The owner is completely unwilling to budge on her ridiculous no return/no exchange policy after 7 days. This is really frustrating considering I have the receipt for a brand new item with all the labels and packaging in place on something bought as a Christmas gift less than 2 weeks ago.
I had gone to this store plenty of times without incident, and enjoyed the unique items and the friendly staff. Recently however, Ive come to understand why this store has so many negative reviews. The owner was in (based on the other reviews Im certain it was her) and I have no other way to describe her other than BIG BULLY The way she was speaking to her staff was awful. I felt terrible for them! Barking orders and down right patronizing. Myself and the other customers in the store were extremely uncomfortable. I will not be back, and its such a shame because I really did like what the store has to offer.
This store has lost my business, the employees and customers are treated horrific. The owner of this store is the most unprofessional, rude and volatile person I have ever seen. Seeing her in action puts you in shock.
I purchase items here all the time and have always loved this store. However, I purchased a ginger snaps bracelet for a Christmas gift and the end of the bracelet came apart. I went in to ask them to exchange it. I didnt have a receipt, but had my card transaction from the day I made the purchase. The older lady was the very rude and refused to replace it or fix it. Never do business there again!!!!
Pushy rude owner. Disgusting customer service. Belittled my wife because she wanted to return a gift. 0 out of 5 stars.
Owner is VERY rude. The store is great and has a great selection, but she is not welcoming. We were making a $60 purchase and she offered gift wrap- we asked if it was complimentary(reasonable question if you ask me), and she scoffed I hope it being free isnt what made you want the gift wrap.. Like no- this is a Fathers Day gift, and I didnt need to pay you to wrap something I could wrap. Additionally witnessed her dogs attack a service dog. You shouldnt have off leash dogs on premises if they arent friendly. Wont be returning based on the owners behavior alone.
Great selection of SEC team merchandise. Roll Tide!
Im not sure if the lady working in the store is racist or in the business of NOT making money. I was attempting to purchase some melts today. I stood at the counter waiting to be rung up and the old bitty behind the counter never made eye contact with me. I stood there several minutes--UNTIL she acknowledged the customers that came to the counter after me. At the point I put my stuff back on the shelf and walked out. I will NEVER make the mistake of attempting to shop here again.
I called and asked to see if they had a particular item before I went to the store because its a bit of a drive for me. Her first words were look were swamped but Ill just leave this customer and check for YOU, she said it rudely and sarcastically . LITERALLY 2seconds later she said we dont have it. I said, wow that was quick. She said, well Im standing right here at it. ( So why did you say you had to leave the other customer?) She had a very rude, bothered tone. Well they dont need to worry about me swamping their store. Maybe she should be grateful for the all the business shes receiving rather than bothered .
Wow. These reviews are different than my experience. I have been going here for 2 years and they always treated me well... I even called a few times to order stuff with no issues... sorry everybody else had a tough time..
Wow just wow! I made a big deal about how cute the dogs were at this store and this lady (I guess the owner) out of no where begins to tell me this movie I needed to watch about a dog and how horrible the movie was because of how sad it is and how I would cry my eyes out (ummmm no thanks) then as one of the dogs was giving me kisses I bent down to pet it again and the same lady said as she tapped me on the head that I should remember to shower then the dog wont need to give one for me. WTH!?! keep your hands to yourself. I wont ever come back here again. Learn some manners!
My favorite boutique! This place makes me happy!
I will NEVER shop in this store again! I purchased a PSU Tervis cup for my husband for Christmas on 12/21. I went in today (literally 10 days later - not even 10 business days and not counting them being closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day) to exchange it - I wasn’t even asking for a refund. I was immediately told by the sales lady that I was past the 7 day return period. I didn’t even know this was their RIDICULOUS policy! She asked if I wanted to speak with the manager and I said yes. She came back and said the manager said I could not exchange the item for a different Tervis cup because I was past the 7 days. She then asked if I wanted to speak with the owner so I said yes. I heard this nasty lady say “Where is she?” - referring to me. She very sarcastically stated I was past the 7 days and refused to let me exchange the cup. I told her that was ridiculous and she smugly stated that they had extended the return period until December 31st but I had missed that date. I told her I would never shop in her store again and I would be sure to let everyone know what terrible customer service they have! I cannot believe she is still in business and I encourage you to find another local business to support!
Super friendly staff!! Such a nice variety of gifts and nicknakes. Definately worth a stop to check it out and you HAVE to take time to pet the dogs that are there!!
The staff is so kind and there are adorable wiener dogs everywhere!
The customer service is really horrible. Great stuff but inappropriate conversation with customers. Sternly lecturing and scaring my young children who were just looking around. -also witnessed someone attempting to return an item with a receipt. The lady was so so rude to the customer and told her to give the bracelet to someone else. Too bad because the store has great gifts:(
Whether shopping for yourself or a gift, this is your go to store! We absolutely love this store and the staff, who are always willing to help and are so sweet to my kiddos.
Great gifts and knick knacks, however one of the ladies that work here (I’m assuming the owner) was extremely rude to one of my friends for no reason. Her behavior was extremely judgemental and out of place
I have been going to this shop for years and have found the most fun and unique gifts for friends and family it’s my “GO TO” for Christmas gifts, teacher gifts, Bday gifts,,,,, any occasion. I have a daughter that uses crutches for a disability and the owner went out of her way to chat with her and pay attention to her (others just stare or take pity). The owner even gave her a job to sell silly bandz back when they were all the rage lol!! At the time my daughter was 8 or 9 and really struggling this act of kindness made her feel special . I’ll never forget that. I love this store and the staff and owner have been wonderful. I’m surprised at the negative reviews. As long as it’s open I’ll shop there...
Very friendly employees. This store has just about everything for someone for a gift. Clean and relaxing atmosphere
Pleasant staff and a great selection of flags and pennants.
Had excellent experience at this shop! Have the best selection and sales people were helpful and very nice, even reduced an item they had only one of and gave me sale price on something that I mistakenly thought was on sale!!!
Agree with previous comments about inappropriate conversations with customers. I dont appreciate being ridiculed & insulted by MZZZ Coleman the former school PE teacher from Jacksonville, Florida. Who intentionally made some very nasty comments about me to my girlfriend. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. If you value your dignity.
Such a different place go visit for variety. Wonferful place.
UNCOMMON SCENTS has the worst customer service I have ever seen. The owner was very nasty on the phone. I purchased 2 Pillow Pets for my granddaughter, prior to Christmas. Never took out of the plastic bag or the tote bag. My granddaughters received Pet Pillows as a gift from a friend prior to Christmas. So I called and talked to owner to see if I could just trade one for a different animal. I wasnt asking for a refund as I was going to give them to my girls anyway. Owner was very nasty and finally agreed to exchange 1 of them, then she renigged and said not to come in again and report her to the BBB. BUYERS BEWARE!
These are the nicest people I have talked to. I would recommend anyone to shop there!!!!
My son was holding a flag that we were purchasing. When we were checking out my son asked for a lollipop. The women behind the register told him they only give lollipop to boys and girls who dont touch things. Needles to say we wont be returning.
Wonderful atmosphere and excellent service with some of the greatest gift ideas Ive ever found. Me and my family have been coming here for years!
This is my happy place! Great staff, wonderful gifts for every occasion!
Do not buy gifts at this store. They do not provide gift receipts so if the recipient of the gift already has the item or does not care for the item, they are stuck with it unless you want to hand over your entire receipt. We received two LSU cups as gifts. They had the Uncommon Scents price tag on them and we simply wanted to exchange the cups for a different team (UNC). The owner refused. We had previously bought numerous Rainbow Loom gifts and bands from Uncommon Scents but never again. We will never buy anything from this store again. I hope the owner realizes her inflexible policy will lose her more business than the money she recoups. We are also telling everyone we know to never buy from this store. If you need a Rainbow Loom or any supplies, go to Michaels in Mooresville. They will at a minimum provide you with a gift receipt.
Love the flag selection
Great store. Something for everyone.
I was so surprised at the service based on the other comments, because I was helped and the lady was very nice and did nothing rude at all
Owner is a B ! The shop is way over stocked. More like a Hoarder store. If there was a fire youd never get out . Bunch of overpriced junk. I will never go back. June 2018
Customer service is awful & so is the return policy. This place is a joke!!!
Great items-poor customer service.
Watch out for the ridiculous return policy! You cant even exchange after 7 days. Unheard of! The manager was rude and I wont shop there again.
Disgusting attitude from the older lady.
Great selection of gifts
They have the WORST !!!!customer service in this place, and Ive spent so much money in this store just to be treated as a criminal because I didnt have a gift receipt for a bday gift I received Im really surprised Ive even sent people there to shop, well my business is no longer needed in that place I pray you ladies see the light before its too late!!!
One word. Racism.
Love this place, they really have a bit of everything with very handmade, useful and above all beautiful things
