My son purchased a laptop in December of 2020 for $1,000. They didnt have any in stock so they showed us a demo unit. He needed a computer quickly so we decided to buy it. We were not informed that a demo unit does not come with a 1 year warranty but the remainder of the warranty from when the store put it on demo. The computer failed in less than 6 months and we brought it in to be serviced. It just so happens the computers warranty ended in March of 2021 so they said their is nothing they will do without charging me more money. I will not spend another dime at that place. You shouldnt sell expensive electronic items if you are not going to provide a standard warranty of a year for it. Stand behind your products! Stay away from buying electronics at the Iowa State Bookstore.

TERRIBLE SERVICE! I called a total of thirty times over the past week during store hours, left voicemails and emails. No one ever got back to me. Email and call is the only way to get ahold of them due to the ongoing pandemic. They also told me my books would be her on August 23rd-24th at the latest. I ordered them plenty of time in advance! Completely unprofessional. I have homework due so I had to use another textbook store to get my textbooks a second time. I ended up spending twice as much on textbooks and have still not heard back regarding my book status and a refund. I would not buy here! It is a waste of time and money!
Update your website. They’re not open on Saturday or Sunday!!!! Wasted trip!
Ordered books on 8/7 after confirming with the store that they could be delivered before the start of the semester. Two weeks later I called to followup on where they were, the order had been received but never processed. on 8/20 they said they had shipped them via UPS. On 8/25, after the start of the semester, I called to see where the books were. I was told it showed as shipped in their system but there was no tracking number and they didnt actually know where the books were.I took all of the required precautions to ensure that I would have the books in time for classes to begin and two days in to the semester I am unprepared to do assignments because I trusted the University of Iowa to send me the materials I needed.I will go back to using Amazon next semester because I never had this issue.
Won’t allow anyone else, EVEN MY PARENTS, to pick up my book for me while I have COVID-19 due to an UNSAFE campus I was FORCED to come back to. This is how you lose alumni donations.
Ordered a MacBook Pro from here a while back. It was stolen in transit put they were very transparent about it and assured me that they ordered a new one and should arrive soon. Although it took 9 weeks (which is not their fault at all), they gifted me a gift card and free AirPods for the longer than expected wait. They went above and beyond. I truly would recommend anyone to get their MacBooks/PCs from here

Great options for clothing Hawkeye related or otherwise. Plus their money goes back to supporting student organizations at the University of Iowa! They partner specifically with Dance Marathon to help raise funds for kids with cancer! Great website as well, I would suggest checking it out!
I just shopped here today and was impressed to get 75% off greeting cards and also found some great items on the sale rack. The students who helped ring me up were really friendly and fast! Great service!
Good selection of quality products and premium brands, and the store is really clean and open which makes it comfortable to browse. I always find cool and unique Hawkeye-themed gifts here for my family on special occasions. And I really like the discounts offered on Touchdown/Tip-Off Tuesdays :)
Least helpful and positive staff Ive ever witnessed. They only stand around. When checking out, they only avoid eye contact and do the bare minimum. Very lethargic place.

I had the worst customer experience ever just now I called them to see if my order went through they told me they couldnt tell whether my credit card had gone through or not and that one of my books was on back order. Classes have already started and theyre late getting my books to me. I cant say enough bad things about my experience today.
The Tech Staff is terrible. They never have technicians available and they will give you the most abstract responses when asked questions. Very Unknowledgeable and just sit around doing nothing while my laptop collects dust.

My wife bought a Hawk cheer leader outfit for our 1 1/2 year old granddaughter. The outfit didnt fit so she tried to return it with the original tags on the item. The clerk would not allow a return because she said it was store policy that she would have to have the receipt in order to be able to do a return. The clerk did not even offer an in-store credit. We are a couple over 55 years old. Did she really think we would try to rip off the store for one small item for our grandchild? Funny thing is, my wife was at Von Maur today returning an item. Guess what? No receipt required. I think we wont be shopping at the Hawk Shop again.

Customer service is extremely unknowledgable and unhelpful in the full extent of the word (bunch of college kids), and most of all their main purpose is to be the source for students to buy their university of iowa course books from the university book store, and yet they seem to struggle with the simple task of ordering books on time so students can buy them before the first few days of class. If they fall flat on their face on their main purpose then why do they deserve anything more then one star?
Do NOT buy your books here if you can help it. Buy them from Amazon, from the publishers website, anywhere but here. Ive made the mistake more than once (giving the benefit of the doubt) and had at least one very costly, time-consuming problem each and every time. Id give 0 stars if I could. Definitely done shopping here for life.
