I won’t be going anywhere but Stanton! They were wonderful with my son! They answered all of my questions and concerns. They were patient and kind. They took their time. They really helped ease my worries as our first experience at another eye exam was not fun for my son or I. I highly recommend and can’t thank the staff enough!
The sales people at Stanton Optical are the best! They were all very friendly and made my son very confident in picking out his first pairs of glasses. He was a bit apprehensive at first when trying on the first pair. But they were all supportive and helped him find some frames that both looked good on him and that he liked. The store was clean and very welcoming. I would recommend this store to anyone needing glasses. And their back to school sale cannot be beat at the moment. Well worth the trip to pick up my sons first glasses!

I am very disappointed with this location and I am extremely frustrated. I really try to not right bad reviews but I have had multiple issues. The first time I went for glasses I was happy, thought I got a good deal and happy with the service. I go to get a new pair and they said my insurance was never in the system my insurance doesn’t even work there. I am upset because now I questioned if I was even given a good price to begin with since I was told my first visit that it was all covered by my insurance, no wonder why I thought it was high. I was so upset, because I felt lied to. Being told it’s covered and taken care of only to be told the next time it was NEVER covered to begin with. That right there seems very off putting because what was I charged then? Full price? Then I went to get a warranty on my glasses cause they got wrecked. They were covered under warranty, I asked if needed to bring anything to my appt and they said no. I then drive 15 minutes across town on my lunch break only to be told I needed to bring the glasses. So I wasted my lunch on something that I could’ve been told on the phone. I really tried to not say anything but i am worried about what I am paying for if I get told one thing than another time it’s different. Once my prescription expires I think I’m going to try else wear.

Made an appointment for an eye exam over the phone earlier this month. The person on the phone was reading a script and told me that Stanton accepts all insurance programs and that I should get my glasses the same day as my exam, since apparently they have a lab at each store.Contrary to what was said over the phone, they did not accept my insurance and Id have to wait at least two weeks (it was three due to shipping complications with UPS, so I cant blame the store for that) for my new glasses to be ready. Thats fine and all, since thats kind of the standard but they shouldve been more up-front about that the first time instead of giving false information.The other positives I can mention are how fast the eye exam was and that their optometrists conduct eye exams through a remote location (which I thought was kinda cool, actually. Makes sense given the current circumstances with the pandemic). They also have a good selection of frames to go along with my glasses. Thats probably the hardest part with getting a new pair. Finding the perfect frames. I was able to find what I was looking for, so I appreciate the variety they have.So while their eye exam service was fast and efficient and they have a wide selection of frames, I wish the people over the phone would be a little more honest with how their services are represented. Bumped this up to three stars since my previous critique was a little too harsh.

She was very kind and willing to work with me when I explained my situation and budget. You don’t see a lot of truly great customer service anymore, but I did here and it should be recognized. I really appreciate talking to a real person who understood I only had so much money to work with and didn’t shove all these unnecessary additions down my throat.

I came here to get a second opinion on an eye exam. The videoconferencing doctor went slow and took her time with my exam. The lovely lady was able to explain to me what was wrong with my first prescription AND the other ladies were throughly cleaning everything which made me feel safe and cared for. For my next pair of glasses, I will gladly come back! Thank you to those wonderful ladies for a great experience and exceptional customer service.
I bought two pairs of eyeglasses in January. A warranty was included. I was skeptical. Last week, I dropped and broke my frames. I called to make an appointment. They got me in that same day and I walked out with new pair of glasses in less than 15 minutes. Amazing. I used to purchase my glasses from the online retailers, but this convenience has made me a customer for life.
I received the most professional service from Tanya. She greeted every customer as they entered, explained that there would be a short wait. Circled back to tell me she had one more customer before getting to me, when it was my turn she apologized for the wait and gave me her full attention. The store was busy and she kept her cool and managed another employee and the whole store calmly. Im in the customer service industry and I dont give out reviews regularly but Tanya really deserves the accolade!As for Stanton Optical, I had broken my frames and waited over a month for the replacement to come in. This had no bearing on the local store.

I had an eye exam appointment at the Janesville location and didnt have to wait long to be called back to the exam area. Once the exam was over, the staff helped pick out some frames based on what I liked and I ended up with a pair that I may not have chosen for myself, but that looked and felt really good. They also answered all of my questions and made sure I understood my prescription and details before I left. I will continue going there for all my eye care needs.

Tanya was wonderful! Both staff members there today (8/28/2020) were very friendly and helpful. They had a few customers come in during my visit that were rude for no reason, they handled them well and the customers seem to have left in a better mood. With only two staff members working, they both worked efficiently and diligently to help each customer while they were very busy. This is a wonderful change from my exam at Target Optical in Fitchburg just a few days prior. I will definitely be going to Stanton Optical from now on.

My visit yesterday was better than I thought it would have ever went. First time with Stanton Optical and I will be back. 2 pairs of bifocal glasses and contacts. I chose not to get the 2 for $59 glasses and spoiled my self with something nicer. Very satisfied with the service and modern technology.

Walked in with my husband to gain insight on pricing and selection, only to overhear two workers discussing their daughters’ menstrual cycles. Very unprofessional and just not appropriate to discuss while you have potential customers in the store, as a District Sales Manager I’m very shocked to say the least.

Customer service is horrible. Dont waste your time with the tela visit. Was scheduled for a Dr appt in person. They called me 2 days before to cancel. The manager, Tonya, laughed on the phone before she hung up. Very unprofessional.
The good: Great experience and recommendations for my glasses and contacts. The tech even found me more discounts.The bad: I was never informed that there were certain frames that were part of the $60 eye exam deal. Poor communication on the status of my glasses and contacts. My order cant be found on their order status page and when I call the number my order cant be found. I will be calling the store when they open.I want to be able to see better than what I can now and cant do that without help.The customer service is great in store, however once you leave the store the customer service is slow and leaves you in the dark. My review will go up or down in stars depending on how my phone call with the store goes later this morning.
I have gotten multiple pairs of glasses from Stanton Optical! I have loved every single pair I have gotten! The service has always been great! Even when they are busy, the ladies that work there are always making sure you are getting the best service!
I am truly disgusted with the level of customer service my partner and I received (what a shame, the other employees that weren’t helping us seemed fantastic) and the unprofessional things we overheard and were told while in this establishment. First of all, the employee that helped us, Brittney, did not seem to understand how to explain the test results to us. I tried to count the amount of times she toppled over her words or said “I’m pretty sure” or “umm” (this word alone exceeded a count of 20) but I lost count. Second of all, she was very short with us, just wanted us to give her our money and get out the door. We felt extremely rushed and that we were being told we need things that we did not. Third of all, her focus was not even on us for the entire seven minutes she worked with us. She kept hollering across the store to another employee things that were just unnecessary (I SEPERATED THE MENS AND WOMENS SPECTACLES! WE NEED MORE PRICE FORMS! I DON’T LIKE THIS SONG!)... It was so terribly obnoxious, I would expect this from a toddler. Overhearing her earlier in our visit discuss her commission was unprofessional, being told after checkout that I “got” a warranty today (inferring it was given free with purchase) but seeing a $25.00 charge on my receipt for it that was ABSOLUTELY NOT discussed or approved by me was appalling, I hope your company does not condone your employees doing things like that, it is just criminal. You need to disclose to your customers what you are charging them for, not surprise them after the card is rung. I could continue, you may reach out to me if you would care to discuss further.
Terrible customer service. Its been 21 days since Ive ordered my glasses and it will be atleast 12 more days before I recieve them and all they could do was upgrade my lenses. I originally gave 5 stars but I am so dissatisfied with the service weve recieved. I will never go back nor recommend this place to anyone.

My glasses broke, I was outta contacts, & my prescript. had expired. SSM HEALTH/DEAN CLINIC OPTHALMOLOGY couldnt get me in for exam until December (its Oct. 1st). My insurance wouldnt cover anyone other then my HMO Dean.As soon as I walked in the door they were so helpful, & got me the best deal & discounts (since Id be paying outta pocket). They had me in & out in under an hour. When I left I had a new eye exam & contact exam. As well as a sample contact to get me buy until my order came in.SPEEDY. FRIENDLY. VERY HELPFUL.
We went through eye exam and ordered glasses. We were told it would be about 3 weeks to get glasses because of progressive lens and being a new year for insurance purposes. We were very pleasantly surprised to get a call 6 days later saying the glasses were in. We picked up the glasses and they were great. The gals were helpful and very friendly and informative. Will definitely go back to them.
Will never visit this establishment again! I get the whole mask thing, but my wife was there today with her father and my 4 yr old son who has a medical condition and breathing troubles and the lady at the front desk went out of her way to check if it was ok that a little boy was inside without a mask. To make a long story short, my wife and my son were treated like garbage and were told they were not allowed inside even though, #1 kids under 5 yrs of age are not mandated to wear masks and are exempt. #2 he has breathing issues which also makes him exempt. What a joke! One place where our money will never be spent!
Would like to give a negative 5 stars.my child has a medical exemption and cannot wear a mask.and after driving over an hour to get there they told us they would not see us.

The eye exam process was quick and efficient. All of the staff were extremely nice and knowledgeable & answered all the questions my husband I had. Tim walked us through glasses purchasing process and did a fantastic job! All of our new glasses were ready in about an hour. I highly recommend Stanton Optical....very happy!

I paid the $59.99 for eye exam and two pair of glasses. The best deal for my money in Janesville. Stanton made sure that my glasses were the correct fit and strength even a year later after my initial exam. The store is very clean, they take your temperature at the door to minimize the risks. While the staff was immediately helpful. The bait and switch. The giant sign on their front window stated “2 for 59.95 +free eye exam.” Ok. Fine print stated $45 for eye exam. No problem. But noted.When I started looking for frames I inquired how the pricing works without insurance. Oh- it’s 50% off a second pair of frames OR 50% off lenses if you buy only 1 pair. Ummm big sign in front???? Oh we don’t do that.Ok, let’s look at the cost of this frame.Frame (99) plus type of lenses (145) plus UV plus warranty- grand total of just under $300Ummm - $300 for 1 pair. for an ad that stated 2 pair for $59.95 with free eye exam.Scam! Bait an switch.Then my son with asthma went in... he had a mask on, but not covering his nose as during this time of year he already has a hard time breathing. They kicked him out. Said since they were private property they can do whatever they wanted and not have to abide by the CDC guidelines for people with medical issues. Nice way to treat people with medical issues.Won’t be back to this scam-hole!

Im rating this experience excellent. I was able to get an appointment scheduled online for an appointment the next day, and the entire staff was very friendly and helpful. They offered different package options and when I was more specific on what had value and would work for me they were able to fit my needs.Less than two weeks after getting the glasses, my puppy got hold of and ruined a pair. I returned to the store, figuring I would have to pay for a replacement. They replaced the frames AND lenses at ZERO COST! I was really impressed, and appreciate the straightforward and honest business that they provided.
Updated: I tried to get a copy of my prescription the other day. Came in, got my temp taken, and told to sit down and wasted more then 40 minutes while they were busy on their phones, then looking confused about where another patient was, and ignored me for all of 40 minutes. No one even returned to me while i sat there trying to wait patiently but ended up leaving all over just needing a paper printed out. The only other disappointing thing was that the manager lady was busy in the back area vaping or smoking when she wasnt out by the patients. I guess I hope you guys drug test! Good luck with that store. I wish that Tim had been there to help like he was earlier this year.Original review: Love this place!! Got a great pair of sunglasses and a clear pair. Had a great experience on their opening day! All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The manager, Tanya, greeted everyone and I heard her checking with customers multiple times to be sure they were having a good experience. Though you dont see an eye doctor in person, the exam is exactly the same as the exams Ive paid $200 for! It was pretty amazing to see how it all works. They have a huge selection and the staff were very helpful in finding the best look. Well definitely be back!

I thought the place looked very clean and a very pleasent staff took care of me. I was amazed that my exam was done virtually with the Dr. and I love the frames I ordered.
I was upset that the phone center gave me incorrect pricing but the manager and Tim made it right. Great customer service and efficient. I would definitely recommend this Janesville office and will go back. I have spent double the money on just one pair of glasses elsewhere.
My husband went there a week after they opened. Yes, I understand it takes time to get situated when everyone and everything is new...BUT It goes down hill from here...after the eye exam he looked at glasses and they didnt have anything he wanted so we took the prescription to another place. The glasses came in and he couldnt see because everything was blurry. He took the prescription back to Stanton and clerk looked at the information and said they gave him the wrong prescription. She also mentioned they had that problem with the left eye on everyone that day. They offered to give him another exam. During the exam the system went down. She said told him to grab some lunch and shed call him to come back in. 24 hours later no call.... he went back in and she told him to sit and wait because they had customers to take care of. After waiting for a half hour he had to leave to go back to work. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE! I hope they called everyone from the day the system was giving the incorrect diagnosis.
Ive been trying to get prescription glasses to wear when riding on the back of my husbands motorcycle that have the rubber gasket to protect my eyes from wind and dust. Finally found some at Stanton.

Love this place and the employees! I got my glasses in less than 2 weeks even though they were sent out. I was able to get exactly what I wanted while staying within my budget too. Cant wait to go back and pick out prescription sunglasses next time. You guys are the best!!
Just be aware that there is no onsite doctor. The exam is done via web cam from a remote location. They dont tell you until you go in for it and its too late to leave. Had I known, I would have went elsewhere. The prescription I got is definitely not right and I will be contacting them on how to resolve this week.
Awesome prices, great service. Exam kind of threw me since it was long distance video chat with them having full control of the machines, but was very thorough. Glasses came with better vision then Shopko.

My girlfriend got glasses- no line ones with the no glare coating. They had to be sent out and even though they quoted us 2 weeks it took about 8 days for them to come back! The store manager and the lab manager were very helpful while she picked out something. Im glad we went to Stanton. We will definitely be back and sending our friends & family there too. Thanks!

I came to Stanton yesterday because I needed new eyeglasses. The service was great. My glasses are good. The only negative thing I would say is the selection of eye frames in the 2 for $59 is very small. I hoped it would be a better selection. Overall I liked Stanton.

I went here with no idea that I would even need glasses. After the eye exam, which I thought was very fast and convenient, I found out I definitely did. Kylee spent quite a while working with me to find frames, because I honestly had no idea what I wanted. She found the perfect ones! I never thought I would’ve liked the style she picked but it quickly became my favorite. They really are good at what they do here!
I was surprised that their was no doctor in the room also. Everything was done via tv. Everyone was polite and helpful to keep my cost down which I was expecting 2 pair of glasses & free exam for under $100. It was way more! When I picked my glasses up....I wasnt handed anything to read nor were they adjusted to my face/ears. Just sign and go. Give them a week to adjust to them is what I was told. Unless I have problem with my glasses, I wont go back.
Tanya helped me through the whole process. It was my first time getting glasses and she made me feel so excited about my new specks! She recommended the perfect frames for me and even adjusted them to fit me perfectly!! Great customer service.

I called to set up an appointment and they told me they take my insurance so I proceeded to go to my appointment and they asked for my insurance. I then told them what is was and they said they don’t take my insurance and that they are required to tell everyone they take all insurances which is a complete lie. I am 100% disappointed with the experience and the lies I was told I would not recommend Stanton optical to anyone EVER!!!

This place is a joke. There is a reason that you can typically get a same day appointment at Stanton when the more reputable optical centers are booked a month out. The optometrist is on a video screen -- not actually on site. There is no communication regarding your test results; you are not shown the retinal image or provided with the measurements from the glaucoma or visual field test. In my case, my eye pressure readings were somewhat elevated and my visual field test indicated some issues, but the optometrist did not mention this to me -- I had to prod the assistant to provide me with any feedback. Additionally, when they were unable to properly process my insurance, they could not provide me with any information about why the exam was not covered. The overall level of competence, by everyone associated this location, just seemed extremely low.
Great place. The eye exam is a little different (done by a doctor on a tv screen and Computer) but still is very accurate. So I do still highly recommend. I actually think it’s better then a doctor breathing down your neck . Lol.. Tim the guy that help me with my glasses was amazing and very helpful! He was honest if they didn’t look good or if it was a hmmm.. maybe. He was awesome! He was also very polite. I highly recommend this place.
Getting an exam was quick and easy. Exam was great. Problem came in when we learned that my daughters glasses/lenses didnt quality for their deals due to her prescription being so high. We never got a call saying her glasses were ready in store or that they were shipped. They had to send her glasses off to their warehouse to be made. We have been waiting a month for her second pair with no notice of when they will be here. The staff is unaware of the status of her glasses.Update: glasses arrived 2 days after Christmas. Lenses shipped and were cut in store contrary to what I was told. Staff just shrugged and said sorry. So over a month and a half of waiting we were refunded a portion of our original cost due to the wait and lack of communication.
Super friendly service and so fast. Within two hours, I’d had an eye exam and was already wearing new glasses. It was amazing.
