I sent an 1853 Enfieldto David, asking him to fix the tang behind the hammer, as well as drill and tap for a nipple.Upon receiving my Enfield, I was impressed with David’s craftsmanship; there were no seems. Moreover, instead of trying to make it look like something new, he was able to remove some nickel plating (not done by me)and placed on it a dignified patina. By doing this, he made this battle horse an heirloom. To all that read this review, sorry for being long winded. Lodgewood Is a class act. I would refer them to anyone who needs firearms restoration.
I ordered an Uberti Remington New Model Army along with a defarb/patina service from David. His pricing was reasonable in my mind, not cheap, but worth every penny. He clearly takes his time and is attentive to every detail. His work is outstanding, and though the process did take a while, his communication was consistent and transparent. I would not hesitate to use Lodgewood again.
I was so impressed by Lodgewood. I needed to buy a specific colt revolver for a friend as a birthday present, and I couldnt even tell you what one looked liked. David was an incredible help. I gave him all the details over the phone of what my friend wanted and he was able to pinpoint the exact revolver my friend wanted. The range of guns I looked through online before calling was also very impressive. Would definitely recommend. Thanks David!
Extremely great people to deal with for repairs of vintage Civil War era guns. They did a fantastic job in repairing an M1842 Aston pistol of mine, and at a reasonable price. The gunsmith I spoke with was very friendly and helpful, I asked several questions and he knew how to answer them. A great company doing a great thing-- highly recommended!
After receiving some poor customer service several years ago, I originally wrote a negative review for Lodgewood. Although I stand behind the fact that the service was originally very poor, I have had several positive interactions with Lodgewood since that original review. Because of this I have decided to edit my posting to reflect more accurately on their service. All the best.
Great guy to work with.
Our re-enacting group has had Lodgewood repair several of our muskets including Euro-Arms Enfields which are so hard to get parts for since Euro Arms no longer exists. Personal and expert service. We have done business with them for years and would not go anywhere else.
Excellent custom work, defarbs on repos and great customer service and communication.
In one Word - AMAZING. I just received back the Chiappa Model 1861 Springfield musket that I had asked the good folks at Lodgewood to de-farb for me. I was stunned by the the thoroughness and quality of the work. I did a side / by side / by side comparison between this musket, an un de-farbed musket, and an original nearly pristine contract Mod 1861 from my collection. The Lodgewood defarb appears to be a clone of the original 1861. This work was well worth the price. The process for getting de-farb work done was very smooth and uncomplicated. David has a way of making you feel like you are his only customer. If you want historical accuracy for your re-enacting weapon you need to contact these folks. You will be glad that you did and you will wonder why you didnt do it sooner.
EXCELLENT!! I sent in my new Pietta Griswold and Gunnison BP revolver to be defarbed and have the barrel and cylinder browned, brass and grips aged. David did a fabulous job, came back looking better than I ever imagined!!!
Excellent people, top quality services and great to do business with!
